Flora Cash shares new single – Chronically Beautiful

RIAA platinum-certified indie-pop duo Flora Cash has today unveiled a tender and reflective new single. “Chronically Beautiful” is available now via the Swedish/American band’s own Flower Money Records at all DSPs and streaming services.

“’Chronically Beautiful’ was sparked when we were having a conversation about what it means to be beautiful,” says Flora Cash, “especially when looked at through the lens of real love. It’s not an acute, momentary perception; it’s the feeling that the person you love; the person that you waited your whole life for has a beauty that transcends any given moment and isn’t dependent on what they happen to be wearing or how their face looks that day or week or month; they’re chronically beautiful.”

“Chronically Beautiful” marks the latest new music from Flora Cash following the arrival earlier this year of the poignant new single, “Soul Mate,” available now for streaming and download. Now boasting more than 2.5M worldwide streams thus far, the track is joined by an equally powerful official music video streaming now here.

Flora Cash was born in 2012 when Minneapolis-native Cole Randall uploaded his music to Soundcloud and caught the attention of Sweden-based Shpresa Lleshaj. The pair soon began playing music together, forming a relationship that would eventually blossom into marriage. A series of independent releases were followed by an acclaimed seven-song mini-LP, Can Summer Love Last Forever?, in March 2016. Flora Cash’s full-length debut album, Nothing Lasts Forever (And It’s Fine), arrived the following year, highlighted by the global smash single, “You’re Somebody Else.” First released in 2017, the RIAA platinum-certified single has proven a true viral phenomenon, currently boasting over 250M worldwide streams while ranking as one of Shazam’s Most Shazamed Alternative Songs in both 2019 and 2020. Hailed by Forbes as “arguably the most intriguing song on the radio this past year,” “You’re Somebody Else” was equally popular at multi-format outlets nationwide, reaching #1 at Alternative and Triple-A while also ascending to the top 5 on Billboard’s “Hot Rock Songs” chart. The track – which has also inspired countless TikTok videos in recent months – is joined by an official lyric video, now with over 133M views via YouTube alone.

As creative and engaging onstage as they are in the studio, Flora Cash lit up stages around the world with a wide range of international live dates, including tours alongside Sir Sly, Joywave, lovelytheband, Judah & the Lion, and AJR as well as festival appearances at Life is Beautiful, Bumbershoot, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Hangout Music Fest, Firefly Music Festival, and the KROQ Weenie Roast & Luau, to name but a few. The duo is currently slated to perform at Hamburg, Germany’s MS Dockville 2021, set for Friday, August 13th; additional dates will be announced soon. For updates, please visit here.

In 2020, Flora Cash released their much-anticipated sophomore album, Baby, It’s Okay, highlighted by the hit singles, “Missing Home” and “They Own This Town” and praised by Atwood Magazine for its “stunning display of stripped back, emotive songwriting, minimal introductions and impressive vocal lines are laced over lush, electro-pop instrumentals as delicate as they are organic, all delving into relational themes…a stunning second album.”

“Well-thought-out, congruent, and brilliantly detailed, Flora Cash explores themes such as post-breakup blues and coming to terms with oneself, all coated in melancholic and bittersweet vibes.” – ATWOOD MAGAZINE

“A sound that’s equal parts earthy and ethereal” – SUBSTREAM

“Bitingly bittersweet (Flora Cash’s) crystalline guitar and spine-tingling melodies give voice to that feeling of emptiness that’s recently become all-too-familiar.” – THE LINE OF BEST FIT

“Alongside artists like Billie Eilish, Maggie Rogers, and Francis and the Lights, Flora Cash is on the front lines of modern musicians redefining alt-pop by injecting their music with heartfelt conviction.” – EARMILK

GRYFFIN × KYLE REYNOLDS - “BEST IS YET TO COME” from Noelle Accardi from Interscope Records for use by 360 magazine

GRYFFIN × KYLE REYNOLDS – “BEST IS YET TO COME”

L.A.-based artist/producer Gryffin has just unveiled a new single entitled “Best Is Yet To Come” with buzzing California singer Kyle Reynolds. Released via Darkroom/Interscope Records, Gryffin once again crafts the ultimate summer anthem with an engaging electronic soundscape heightened by Kyle’s soaring delivery and powerful hooks. The track and accompanying video showcase the promise of an endless summer as the world comes back to life. “Best Is Yet To Come” is available now via all digital retailers, watch the video here or listen here.

Earlier this year, Gryffin teamed up with Two Feet for single “I Want Love” which thus far has generated over 9.5 million Spotify streams and garnered critical acclaim. EDM praised, “This idyllic track showcases a balanced blend of seemingly juxtaposing styles.” Additionally, his 2019 anthem “Tie Me Down” with Elley Duhé has surged in popularity once more. Exploding on TikTok, it has recently inspired over nearly 3 million videos in the past month alone. To date, it has amassed nearly a quarter-of-a-billion streams and views. Gryffin also recently announced the first dates for his return to Las Vegas for a 2021 Wynn residency, tickets now on-sale here.

On the meaning behind the track, Gryffin says “Best Is Yet To Come is a song about not knowing or being able to predict the future, but being hopeful and optimistic that better days are on the horizon.”

Be on the lookout for more music from Gryffin soon!

“I Want Love” followed Safe With Me”, featuring rising star Audrey Mika, and “Cry,” a collaboration with Swedish singer/songwriter John Martin hailed by EDM.com as a “scintillating future pop record that tugs at the heartstrings.” In addition, Gryffin’s recent output includes “Hold You Tonight,” a breathtaking collaboration with platinum-selling country artist Chris Lane. Premiering in April, the acoustic-guitar-laced track marked Gryffin’s first new music since the release of Gravity — a widely acclaimed album including hits like “Remember” ft. ZOHARA (a track that shot to #1 on Dance radio), “OMG” (a #16 hit on the US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, featuring Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen), and “Body Back” ft. Maia Wright (#16 hit on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart). With its incredible lineup of collaborators and guest artists, Gravity also features “Hurt People” (a collaboration with singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc, co-written by Bastille frontman Dan Smith) and “Baggage” by Gryffin with Gorgon City ft. AlunaGeorge (praised by Dancing Astronaut as a “perfectly poignant and danceable requiem to the summer season”).

Known for his kinetic fusion of dance-pop and future bass, Gryffin recently earned RIAA gold certification for “All You Need to Know” with SLANDER ft. Calle Lehmann — a 2019 release that’s now surpassed 100 million streams. The chart-climbing single appears on Gryffin’s debut album Gravity, which hit #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart soon after arriving in October 2019.

ABOUT GRYFFIN

Born Dan Griffith, Gryffin got his start in music as a classically trained pianist and guitarist and also played in several bands. After receiving an electrical engineering degree from the University of Southern California, he pursued a path in music production, drawing equally from his carefully honed musicality and edgy ingenuity. Gryffin made his breakthrough in 2016 with two singles showcasing his melodic take on dance music: “Heading Home” ft. Josef Salvat (which shot to #1 on Spotify’s US and Global Viral charts) and the Bipolar Sunshine collaboration “Whole Heart.” In addition, his 2017 smash single “Feel Good” — with Illenium and featuring Daya— peaked at #18 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts. Gryffin’s major triumphs also include “Tie Me Down” ft. Elley Duhé (which hit #2 on the Spotify US Viral Chart and #9 on the Global Viral Chart), “Remember” ft. Zohara (which garnered 6.5 million streams in its first few weeks and earned support from Tiesto, who featured the track on an Instagram story), and “All You Need to Know” with SLANDER ft. Calle Lehmann (a gold-certified smash that’s now surpassed 100 million streams). Arriving in October 2019, Gryffin’s debut album Gravity quickly climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Polestar Raises $550 Million

Polestar Raises $550 Million from New Investors; Further Fundraising Considered

Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car company, has raised $550 million (USD) from a group of long-term financial investors.

The private placement of newly issued shares marks the first-time external investors have backed Polestar’s products, brand, industrial capability, financial ambitions and high growth potential.

The new investments come as the global market for electric cars is growing strongly, with consumers increasingly prepared to combine e-mobility with their environmental aspirations. Simultaneously, the technology behind electric cars is advancing and becoming more economical, making mass consumer adoption of electric vehicles an imminent reality.

These factors led to Polestar attracting considerable interest from a range of external investors as part of its fundraising activities. Polestar also confirms it is in ongoing discussions with global investors about possible additional fundraising. Full financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed at this stage.

The group of investors is led by Chongqing Chengxing Equity Investment Fund Partnership, Zibo Financial Holding and Zibo Hightech Industrial Investment. They have been joined by I Cube Capital, an arm of SK Inc., the South Korean global conglomerate, and a range of other investors.

The new investment sets the stage for future growth by diversifying Polestar’s funding structure. It deepens the pool of resources available to accelerate product development and technological capabilities ahead of launching several ground-breaking cars in the coming years.

Since the brand’s launch in October 2017, Polestar has developed its own high-quality manufacturing facility in China, built a global sales and distribution operation, and successfully launched two vehicles – Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 to extremely positive customer feedback and media reviews.

“Our new investors have recognized that Polestar offers an alluring combination of established industrial and technological capability alongside superlative growth potential as the global auto industry goes electric,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

Visit Sweden’s Healing Through Nature

Lockdowns, isolation, and working from home have caused elevated levels of stress for many people: 45% of Americans say they experience anxiety because of the pandemic, according to a UN report. But there are ways to alleviate the stress. Research shows that spending time in nature lowers stress levels – one of the many benefits of grabbing a few minutes to enjoy some greenery or planning a getaway in the great outdoors.

The positive effects were tested through Visit Sweden’s very own initiative, “The 72-Hour Cabin.” With participants from major cities who had demanding jobs, participants were examined before and after spending three consecutive days in the Swedish countryside where they slept in glass cabins next to water. The study proved that being outdoors surrounded only by nature dramatically reduced negative emotions and lowered stress levels.

In Sweden, 70% of the country is covered with forest, and nature is easy to reach, with open fields and meadows, old-growth forests, quiet lakes, miles of coastlines, and thousands of islands. Swedes have a unique Freedom to Roam, The Right of Public Access (‘Allemansrätt’), which maintains that everyone has the right to walk, cycle, ride, ski and camp on any land. With this, it is no wonder Swedes maintain an unusually close relationship to nature and draw from the healing power of spending time outside.

“Natural environments are an important resource for meeting the health challenges in our society. Research shows that time spent outdoors reduces negative emotions and stress, and promotes positive emotions, mental recovery, and performance,” says Cecilia Stenfors, a researcher at the Aging Research Center at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, and the University of Chicago, USA.

As nature experiences are an effective way to provide a bit of normality after months of pandemic-related stress, anxiety, and loneliness. Below are five ways to incorporate a bit of green in your life, as illustrated by the Swedes:

  • You only need twenty minutes in nature to reduce stress, so there is no excuse not to pop outside for a few moments, even a lunch time walk will help clear your mind.
  • Boost your mental health by taking your meal outside. Swedes dine al fresco nearly all year round and enjoy foraging in nature’s own pantry. For inspiration, check out Visit Sweden’s outdoor dining and do-it-yourself cooking concept, Edible Country.
  • Enjoy outdoor activities like the Swedes with cooking, hiking, canoeing, and mountain biking, all of which have proven long-lasting effects on their well-being.
  • According to a meta-analysis from the University of East Anglia, published in Environmental Research, nature can lower your blood pressure, cortisol, and heart rate. For those living in cities, even surrounding yourself with indoor plants or even gazing at pictures or videos of nature can be soothing.
  • When the time is right, book a trip to enjoy Sweden’s lush landscape and stay high up in the Tree Hotel, or experience a glass cabin, house boat, or maybe even a lighthouse.

In Door County, Wisconsin you can expect a luxurious stay where you’ll get the best of both worlds — nature and an artisanal experience featuring exceptional food and beverage options, as well as artistic features. European settlers also were a part of the Door County community. But the peninsula has always had residents with many dating back 12,000 years ago. This is to say, Door County, Wisconsin is welcoming to people from all walks of life.

One such place is Renard’s Cheese, a family owned, and operated business ran by third generation cheesemakers. You can then follow that up with a stop at Door County Candy, which will satisfy your sweet tooth with handcrafted chocolates and treats.

After if you’re interested in the art scene, then check out the Margaret Lockwood Gallery, featuring Lockwood’s award-winning abstract paintings, which highlights the beauty and landscapes of Door County; or go see incredible art from over 198 artists spanning drawing, printmaking, and photography mediums at Miller Art Museum. Scandic Hotels introduces standard for allergy-friendly rooms

Scandic is the world’s first hotel to introduce a standard for allergy-friendly rooms. This means guests booking the rooms can expect careful attention including wooden floors, and fragrance-free, hypoallergenic toiletries by the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association. Rooms are also prepared according to strict cleaning procedures and aren’t near the pet-friendly rooms. This new standard will be a part of Scandic’s unique 159-point accessibility standard.

More than 150 million people in Europe* have some type of allergy. Most of them probably do not need specific allergy-friendly hotel rooms. But the fact is that more people are asking for more allergy-friendly options at hotels.

Scandic launched its accessibility standard in 2005. Since then, the standard has attracted attention and been used the world over. The standard has now been broadened from 135 to 159 points to include a new category with strict guidelines to meet the needs of travelers with allergies.

There’s a clear demand for the accessibility solutions we offer and we get many requests to make guests’ stays more allergy-friendly. We’ve also already seen how successful our allergy-friendly “breakfast for all” has been. Our goal now is for all Scandic hotels to offer at least two allergy-friendly rooms within a year, says Magnus Berglund, Director of Accessibility at Scandic.

During the spring, Scandic will also release an updated version of its award-winning online accessibility course. The online accessibility course was originally developed for Scandic’s 18,000 team members as an integral part of Scandic’s accessibility initiatives, since interacting with and serving guests is the most important consideration, regardless of their needs. The course is available on Scandic’s website so everyone can learn more about how to provide high-quality service to people with accessibility needs.

We’re always working to find solutions to make our hotels more accessible. While we’ve offered allergy-friendly rooms at Scandic for some time, we’re particularly proud that they’re now part of our accessibility standard. And the fact that our online course is widely used by others in the hospitality industry to improve service also gives us high marks.

Accessibility at Scandic

Since 2003, Scandic has been focusing on making its hotels accessible so they can welcome all guests regardless of their needs. Today, Scandic is the only hotel company in the world that provides information on how accessible each hotel is on their particular hotel sites at scandichotels.com. Scandic is also the only hotel company to have formulated an accessibility standard that currently covers 159 points, 105 of which are mandatory at all hotels. At newly built Scandic hotels, all 159 points apply.

Scandic also applies a “design for all” concept. Design for all means that an accessible room should be designed just as well as any other room, with smart solutions that are barely noticeable except to the people who need them
