Young Franco × Golden Vessel – Underneath

Following a near perfect run of singles under a reformed, hip hop dance sound recruiting the likes of rap mogul Denzel Curry, SonReal and rising star Jalmar, Young Franco returns to his indie roots, collaborating with close friend Golden Vessel for new single, “Underneath”. Listen HERE

Young Franco’s career highlights include Apple Advertising Campaigns, support from Zane Lowe and hosting new MTV series, “Back and Beyond” with Thandi Phoenix, “Underneath” acts as an ode to the incredible, feel good alternative sound that established his core early fanbase.

“Underneath” oozes timelessness, highlighting Young Franco’s ability to shift sounds and genres, while keeping his cornerstone value of quality dance cross over production. Across its just under 4-minute run time, Golden Vessel’s ominous vocals shimmer amidst a cocktail of production flare from Franco. A wobbly bassline combines perfectly with softly tapped piano chords, creating the underbed for a sway worthy alt-pop ballad. As the synth line takes care of the melodic elements in the track’s breakdown, a melancholic ambience is created, channeling the perfect moment for reflection in these unstable times.

On the creation of the track, Golden Vessel stated, “To me it feels like it’s about that corny moment at a music festival or a concert where you’ve spotted someone a couple of times and you lock eyes with them. Your favorite band is playing, and you feel really connected with this stranger even though you know nothing about them.”

About Young Franco

The Young Franco project is currently sitting perched above the clouds, with career highlights being ticked off with every subsequent release. Most recently he collaborated with Filipino-Canadian Director Khrysta Lloren a.k.a NOFAC3 for the music video for Come Thru (feat. SonReal & Jalmar), which premiered via Flaunt. His 2020 single, “Fallin Apart” featuring Denzel Curry and Pell took the already glowing artist to angelic levels. The single received a full addition on Triple J, as well as radio spins globally, and featured on publications such as Clash Magazine, NME, Out Now Magazine, Colors, Sniffers, Happy Mag, Acclaim, Purple Sneakers, Pilerats and more. The track also featured as the soundtrack for Apple’s Airpod ‘Jump’ campaign which has received nearly 10 million views on Youtube and was premiered during the Grammys broadcast.

Ski Mask The Slump God – Dr. Suess Video

SKI MASK THE SLUMP GOD DROPS NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR DR. SUESS

SIN CITY THE MIXTAPE OUT NOW

Coming out with a bang, critically acclaimed multiplatinum Florida spitter Ski Mask The Slump God drops the blockbuster music video for his new single Dr. Suess. It’s available on his tastemaker-approved, chart-busting 2021 project, Sin City The Mixtape [Victor Victor Worldwide/Republic Records]. Listen to Sin City The Mixtape—HERE.

Watch the Music Video for Dr. Suess HERE

The highly stylized cinematic clip nods directly to the 2005 big screen epic Sin City. In the visual directed by ROCK and EGG, Ski Mask The Slump God dons a suit with pure hitman swagger and exacts revenge on a list of enemies, crossing them out one at a time with each successive kill gorier than the last. It stands out as his biggest and boldest video to date.

Right out of the gate, Sin City The Mixtape bowed in the Top 40 of the Billboard Top 200. Plus, it vaulted into the Top 20 of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, marking his second Top 20 debut on the respective chart. Not to mention, it soared to #3 on the Spotify Charts Top 10 USA Album Debuts.

Additionally, it garnered widespread acclaim. Pitchfork hailed him as a rapper’s rapper, with a dense chopper flow, and promised, If you look hard enough, you can hear his sincerity, struggle, and pain. HYPEBEAST celebrated the project as filled with the same kind of wild and menacing energy that Robert Rodriguez’s adaptation is comprised of, and HotNewHipHop raved, his familiar aggressive delivery is on full display. UPROXX urged, with such a tight concept and sharp execution, it’s not one to be overlooked, but XXL put it best, It’s comeback season for Ski Mask The Slump God

Sin City The Mixtape notably marks his first body of work since 2018’s chart-topping gold-certified Stokeley. Living up to its namesake, he rips through these nine tracks with all the frenetic energy, ominous unpredictability, and epic scope of the Robert Rodriguez adaptation of Frank Miller’s classic graphic novel Sin City. Once again, his verbal acrobatics steal the show as he perverts pop culture references into pummeling rhymes on the likes of the single Admit It where Reptilian and Alice In Wonderland breathe the same contaminated air. Intro pairs a cracking, yet intimate vocal over the hum of a defibrillator, while clean guitar bleeds into an X-Men-worthy barrage on Mental Magneto and the acoustic Lost In Time spins depression into melodic bliss.

Check out the full tracklisting below.

Last year, Ski Mask The Slump God dropped the protest-anthem Burn The Hoods. The politically charged banger amassed north of 70 million streams thus far. Picking up critical acclaim, NPR claimed it captured the defiant, cathartic energy of a crowd of people tearing down a statue of a Confederate general.

Allow Ski Mask The Slump God to welcome you to Sin City The Mixtape now.

Stay tuned for much more soon!

Oliver Malcolm Remixes Glass Animals – Tokyo Drifting

Rising artist Oliver Malcolm joins Glass Animals front man Dave Bayley for a new episode of “Cereal Bars” — a show where artists share their come up story and freestyle over a beat made fresh by Dave. The result is a cowboy inspired apocalyptic anthem that combines Dave’s beat prowess and Oliver’s imaginative storytelling. In the very special edition of the episode, the young producer/songwriter also shared a remix he made of a Glass Animals’ track; “Tokyo Drifting” featuring Denzel Curry. Watch the full episode and sneak peek of Oliver’s remix here. Listen to the remix of Glass Animals’ “Tokyo Drifting” feat. Denzel Curry here.

The appearance comes at the heels of Oliver Malcolm’s debut EP, Are You Living in The Real World? which features critically acclaimed tracks like “Switched Up,” “Skywalker,” “Helen” and more. Listen to the project in full here.

About Oliver Malcolm

Oliver Malcolm got his start early, teaching himself how to spin records at 12 years old. Shortly after, he downloaded Logic and taught himself how to produce – working with IDK, Aluna George, Joey Bada$$, Jay Rock, Masego, Tinashe and more. Now twenty, Oliver has developed his own voice. Touching everything from the production, vocals, songwriting, engineering, mixing and mastering,  Oliver’s sound is unique and does not fit the mold of one genre. Quick to be praised by the likes of New York Times, TIME Magazine, Pigeons & Planes, Interview Magazine, CLASH, NME and more, Oliver Malcolm is priming his trajectory to be a long and critical one. A multidisciplinary at heart, this is just the beginning of what music lovers can look forward to from the new artist.

Praise for Oliver Malcolm

“Oliver Malcolm is the dynamic rising star ready kick up a storm with his diverse, new punk-indebted EP.” — NME

“With its deep bassline and bluesy melodies alchemizing jazz and pop influences, he crafts an almost tangible atmosphere of melancholy [in “Helen”] as pleas to a woman echo throughout.” — Pigeons & Planes, Best New Artist

“Oliver Malcolm’s ‘Switched Up’ Is Intoxicating… new single ‘Switched Up’ is a mesh of influences, a confluence of sounds, a mosaic of techniques.” — CLASH

“Oliver Malcolm [is] The UK’s Most Talented Bad Boy.” — Interview Magazine

“A lot of artists claim genre-blending style, but Malcolm’s is altogether impossible to define. Is it alt-blues? Dark electro-pop? Folk-hip-hop? Does it matter?” — TIME Magazine, Best New Song

“The hip-hop producer-turned-twisted musical anarchist is making songs for nobody but himself. You’ll love them anyway.” — i-D Magazine

“The drums lurch toward the offbeats, some looped guitar picking tugs against that pulse and Malcolm’s voice is a rattled, quavery moan…Everything stays off-kilter for the two and a half paranoid minutes of “Switched Off” by Oliver Malcolm.” — New York Times, Playlist

Aminé Drops “Riri” Video

Aminé drops co-directed music video for “Riri”

Portland-based rapper, artist, director, culture shaker and innovative ingenue Aminé delivers his video for “Riri” which he co-directed with longtime visual collaborator Jack Bergert. The video was filmed in quarantine around LA mansions with cameos from the likes of beloved sports broadcaster Taylor Rooks. Aminé even locked writer/comedian Jak Knight, from ABC’s Black-ish, for a closing skit in the “RiRi” video.

“We shot this video before the murder of George Floyd & my knowledge of the Breonna Taylor case,” Aminé writes “but I felt compelled to delay its release for obvious reasons. Activism is essential right now so I put my focus there for the past few weeks. We skipped editing sessions to march in the Black Lives Matter protests. I’m dropping the ‘Riri’ video today because it’s important to show black joy in a time where we’re constantly seeing imagery of pain and suffering.”

Pegged “one of the most creative voices in hip-hop, Aminé shakes the culture every time he releases a new song” (Hot New Hip Hop) and “Riri” is no different. Complex Magazine reportedly “wouldn’t be surpris[ed] if the real Rihanna was caught on Instagram enjoying the new tune.” Hypebeast cosigns that “the centerpiece of ‘Riri’ is Aminé’s soulful hook and reflective lyrics buoyed by bassrich production from frequent collaborator Pasqué.”

In addition to the excitement of the new music video, Aminé has also joined forces with former YEEZY designer Sara Jaramillo and Alice Wang’s ILYSM to offer a $500 grant this week for an artist impacted by COVID-19 shutdowns. Applications for this round of #ILYSM4Artists are due by noon EST on Thursday 6/25 at ILYSM.COM .

About Aminé:

Artists who move culture forward create their own. Aminé’s debut LP, “Good For You” did just that for Portland’s music scene, hiphop and the culture at large — buoyed by his 5x platinum RIAA certified breakout smash “Caroline,” “REDMERCEDES” and “Wedding Crashers” [feat. Offset]. The album which displayed mosaic influence from his parents’ Ethiopian heritage to trailblazers like Kanye West and André 3000, made an instantly indelible impact — scoring a RIAA gold certification, millions of singles streams, Spotify #1s, and 21 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs Chart, peaking at #11. Aminé further solidified himself as a force of nature between explosive festival sets and show-stopping late nights. Maintaining this momentum, while owning his subdued profile and preference for an AirBNB wilderness cabin over a posh studio for recording, Aminé released his self-described 2018 EP/LP/MIXTAPE/ ALBUM “ONEPOINTFIVE.”

Earlier this year, Aminé continued on his promise to change perceptions and defy expectations with “Shimmy” paying homage to his past, while declaring 2020 as his. Accompanied by a co-directed music video love letter to Portland, the song garnered 20 Million streams globally and the gamut of fanfare which you can watch here. Continuing to expand his influence, Aminé also recently appeared on HBO’s Insecure this month.
