RCA records and Kygo story via 360 MAGAZINE

KYGO  ×  DEAN LEWIS

Global superstar, producer, and DJ Kygo teams up with Australian singer/songwriter Dean Lewis to release their 2-track bundle via RCA Records. The bundle features the vibrant new single Lost Without You, released today, along with the previously released melodic track Never Really Loved Me.

This past weekend, Kygo performed a sold-out show at Ullevaal Stadium, Norway’s most significant outdoor stadium, and brought out Dean Lewis as a surprise guest to perform the two songs together for the first time.

Along with the bundle’s release comes the music video for “Lost Without You,” directed by Johannes Lovund. Filmed in Norway, the visual follows the relationship of the two main characters (played by Kygo and model Meredith Mickelson) as they go from childhood sweethearts to adults, culminating in a tragic end.

Through his lifestyle brand Palm Tree Crew, Kygo returned to The Hamptons last month for the second Palm Tree Festival, which saw performances from Kygo in addition to Disclosure, Claptone, Thomas Jack, Forester, and Haywood. Earlier this year, Kygo teamed up with dance-rock group DNCE to release their vibrant, funk-fueled single “Dancing Feet.” His latest offering, “Freeze,” is a sweeping and cinematic opus.

This summer, along with his ongoing residency at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas, Kygo will be headlining festivals such as Osheaga in Montreal, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and Life is Beautiful in Vegas. On October 6th, Kygo will be playing his first NY show since 2018 at the iconic Madison Square Garden. To purchase tickets, visit HERE

Disclosure ft. Kehlani & Syd – Birthday

So far this year, GRAMMY-nominated UK duo Disclosure have released three singles that went straight for the jugular in three very different ways – the carnival-infused “ENERGY”, the hip house aural assault of My High featuring Aminé and slowthai and the current globally unifying and uplifting soundtrack to the sunshine, “Douha (Mali Mali)”featuring Fatoumata Diawara – all of which showcase the versatility and innovation harnessed by these two young, London based songwriters and producers.

Now, with the release of their third album ENERGY, is “Birthday” featuring Kehlani & Syd. Taking the tempo down to a confident yet sultry swagger, “Birthday” digs deeper in an R&B sound that the brother’s brought to the forefront of their repertoire around their second album Caracal and in fact was one of the earliest tracks they completed during the sessions in LA and quickly made the cut for the new album ENERGYListen to “Birthday” feat. Kehlani & Syd HERE and look out for the Kid Studio directed video coming Friday.

On the concept of the song, Howard explains: “Syd & I were going through a similar thing at the time, trying to work out if it was cool to call your ex to say hi or is it too awkward / mean to do so out of the blue?”

“It’s the oldest song on the album by far so has definitely stood the test of time and deservedly made the cut” adds Guy. “And the addition of Kehlani just took it to the next level and turned into a fire duet.”

To back the release, Guy & Howard have turned in one of their VIP mixes of the single, which historically have always been unreleased fan favorites when they slip them into DJ sets (see their VIP mix of Jessie Ware’s “Running” back in 2012 that set the ball rolling). Listen to the mix HERE.

Just last week Cercle invited Disclosure to perform a live DJ set from the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. Produced and broadcast by Cercle in partnership with Amazon Music the live stream saw Disclosure play in the unique and magnificent setting of the Croatian National Park. The show aired via Cercle’s Facebook page with impressive live viewing figures and has since clocked up 2M views – watch back HERE. The full set will be available on YouTube tomorrow, August 27.

On ENERGY’s release date, August 28, fans can explore Disclosure’s ‘ENERGY Minecraft Experience, an immersive meta-verse within Minecraft inspired by the vibrant world of their new record. With the help of design collective Blockworks alongside Island Records, fans can discover a square mile of rolling hills, roiling streams, and dark caverns, all of which come together in a stunning mosaic to replicate ENERGY’s earthy cover art. Deep in the caves under the land’s surface are three (literally) underground clubs inspired by iconic venues around the world, plus Guy Lawrence’s kitchen as seen in previous live streams. As players explore the realm made up of over 100 million blocks, they’ll have a chance to do some digital crate-digging, hunting for 13 hidden records including 8-bit reworks of some of the duo’s most-loved tracks. Minecraft is one of the world’s most successful computer games with 126 million monthly active players. Disclosure – Birthday

UK duo Disclosure has released their third single of the year less than two days from the release of their newest album “ENERGY.”

The new song is titled “Birthday” and features Kehlani and Syd.

Howard and Guy, the two brothers who make up the duo, bring fans back to the R&B sound of their second album with “Birthday.” They finished the track very quickly, and it easily made the cut to be on the upcoming album.

Along with the album’s release on Friday, Disclosure will release a new music video for “Birthday.” The video is directed by Kid Studio, a duo that has worked with Disclosure before along with other artists like Future and French Montana.

Howard said the song is about relationships with exes long after a breakup. Is it still okay to call them on their birthday?

“It’s the oldest song on the album by far, so it has definitely stood the test of time and deservedly made the cut” Guy said. “The addition of Kehlani just took it to the next level and turned it into a fire duet.”

They have also partnered with Minecraft for the release of “ENERGY,” as gamers can immerse themselves into the vibrant world of the new album. Made up of over 100 million blocks, players will look for 13 hidden records. To see the trailer for Disclosure’s “ENGERGY” Minecraft Experience, you can click right here.

Disclosure – The Energy Minecraft Experience

With clubs closed for the foreseeable future and live music on pause, Disclosure continue to find new ways to connect with their fans. They’ve live-streamed from Guy’s house during their popular Kitchen Mix parties, hosted tutorials on Twitch, and partnered with Cercle to DJ from a cliff in Croatia, but on the release day of their ecstatic new album ENERGY, they’re inviting friends and fans to experience something even more unique. With the help of design collective Blockworks alongside Island Records, they’ve created an immersive meta-verse within Minecraft inspired by the vibrant world of their new record. Minecraft is one of the world’s most successful computer games with 126 million monthly active players. View the trailer for Disclosure’s ‘ENERGY Minecraft Experience HERE.

On ENERGY’s release date, August 28, fans can join Disclosure’s dedicated server in the video game and discover a square mile of rolling hills, roiling streams, and dark caverns, all of which come together in a stunning mosaic to replicate ENERGY’s earthy cover art.

The server will be live for a week, after which a version of the Minecraft map will be available for download. During that week, the land will evolve and change—a feature meant to echo the themes found on ENERGY, which deals in part with environmental concerns like reforestation and ocean repopulation. Like the record—which features hip-house ragers like the Aminé and slowthai-featuring “My High” alongside sunnier, uplifting cuts like “Douha (Mali Mali)”—the Disclosure Minecraft server is meant to be diverse and full of life. Never static, never simple.

In addition to scattering hidden songs around the map, Disclosure will also soundtrack the experience with a megamix featuring material from ENERGY and classics from across their catalog, offering fans a truly immersive way to experience this new chapter in their career.

A decade on from their debut single, Guy and Howard Lawrence are still finding new ways to fill their delightful dance tracks with euphoric new energies. Whether it’s through working with a vivid array of collaborators like Mick Jenkins, Channel Tres, Kehlani, and Kelis (all of whom appear on ENERGYamong many others), or pushing the boundaries of their textured productions, they’re constantly evolving, which is a huge part of what’s made them exciting to critics and fans alike. Even as much of the real world remains stuck inside, Disclosure are continuing to offer what they have since the very beginning: new worlds to explore.

DISCLOSURE SHARES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO, Éc;Douha (Mali Mali)Éd; Featuring Fatoumata Diawara

Disclosure – Douha (Mali Mali)

In keeping with their tradition of enlisting international collaborators, Disclosure once again teams up with Fatoumata Diawara on their new single, Douha (Mali Mali); Brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence first teased the song during their April Boiler Room session, live from isolation, and fans have been asking for it ever since. A sonic exploration of impressive proportions, Douha (Mali Mali); transports listeners from the dancefloor of collective memory, over continents to distant lands, to languish in ecstatic escape from the dire straits around us. Diawara, who featured on the duo’s GRAMMY-nominated 2018 single, Ultimatum; sings in celebration of her birthplace and urges all Malians to be proud of their country. Download/stream HERE.

Disclosure have long championed the ethos of unity and the power of rallying a global community through dance music and their new album, ENERGY, alongside this new flagship single, strives to do just that. The breathtaking video, directed by Mahaneela, encapsulates this concept in full. View HERE.

Mahaneela said, Éc; Right now, all over the world, we’re going through an incredibly strange time. I wanted to makes something that was visually beautiful, but also felt symbolic of what we’re all going through; People feel more isolated than ever and I wanted to create something joyful that really shows the power music and movement has and the connectivity it brings.

Shooting any video during a global pandemic is challenging, but the international effort employed here has delivered amazing results. Filming Fatoumata plus a series of different dancers all moving together to the song, all over the worldwas no mean feat. The video was shot in three countries using nine different locations with three separate local film crews, all adhering to safety guidelines. Together, they captured remarkable rural and cityscapes in Como, Italy, Johannesburg, South Africa, and New York.

Disclosure launched ENERGY, their third album, with the carnival-infused title track featuring Eric Thomas in May and followed up with another bold statement of intent in June: MyHighÉd; ft. Portland’s Amin; and Northampton’s slowthai going head to head on an insanely exciting hip-house rampage. Fans who pre-order the album digitally will instantly receive Douha (Mali Mali); plus Éc; My HighÉd; and the title track. Set for August 28 release, ENERGY will also be available on vinyl, CD, and cassette. Pre-order HERE.

This year marks 10 years since Disclosure debuted with the single Éc; Offline Dexterity. Éd; In that decade, Guy and Howard Lawrence, who are still in their 20s; have released two albums Settle (2013) and Caracal (2015) clocked up 5.1 billion streams and 4.8 million album sales, received five GRAMMY nominations, sold 500,000 tickets to their headline shows and topped festival bills all over the world. Both of their full-length albums topped the U.K. Official Albums chart and received GRAMMY nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Disclosure – My High

Disclosure’s new single & video, “My High” ft. Aminé and slowthai, out today Track Is from new Album, ENERGY, Set For August 28 Release. The pulsing new single finds Aminé and slowthai going head to head on an insanely exciting hip-house rampage. A distinct leap away from the club tracks offered on the Ecstasy EP and the more distinctive Disclosure production on “ENERGY,” “My High” further demonstrates the versatility and innovation harnessed by the Lawrence brothers.

The dynamic official video was shot pre-quarantine in Mexico City and Los Angeles. Directed by French filmmaker Simon Cahn (Danny Brown, Denai Moore), it features performances from both rappers. “We always wanted to work with rappers, we just didn’t know any and we had no means of contacting them… there aren’t a lot of rappers in Reigate,” says Disclosure. “Writing ‘My High’ with Aminé was a lot of fun, he’s hilarious and may as well be a comedian. He writes so quickly and it’s amazing to watch. He brought so much energy to this already very energetic tune that when we got home to London in January, there was only one guy capable of matching it… slowthai.”

Aminé and slowthai are not the only rappers on ENERGY – Mick Jenkins, Channel Tres and the legend that is Common also appear. Other features include the inimitable Kelis and Fatoumata Diawara, who collaborated with Disclosure on the GRAMMY-nominated “Ultimatum.” Cameroon’s Blick Bassy brings his own flow to the table while a powerhouse team of Kehlani & Syd ease the pace with their contribution. Eric Thomas – the hip hop preacher whose words memorably appeared on 2013’s “When a Fire Starts to Burn” – injects a hit of carnival-infused verve into a static and sober summer on the title track.

Fans who pre-order the album digitally will instantly receive “My High” plus the title track. ENERGY will also be available on vinyl, CD and cassette. This year marks 10 years since Disclosure debuted with the single “Offline Dexterity.” In that decade, Guy and Howard Lawrence, who are still in their 20s, have released two albums – Settle (2013) and Caracal (2015) – clocked up 5.1 billion streams and 4.8 million album sales, received five GRAMMY nominations, sold 500,000 tickets to their headline shows and topped festival bills all over the world. Disclosure New Album

Disclosure announced the August 28 release of their new album, ENERGY, via Capitol Records. Disclosure, comprising brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, also shared the title track and accompanying video. The clip is their first official video in five years. “ENERGY” pits a raucous rhythm from an album of Brazilian library music against cut-up samples of Eric Thomas, the hip hop preacher whose words memorably appeared on 2013’s “When a Fire Starts to Burn.” Thomas gives the whole album a kind of manifesto: “Look! Where your focus goes, your energy flows. Are you hearing me?” The Kid Studio-directed video, which received a YouTube premiere, gives props to the underdog. The undeniably feel-good visual counteracts these somber times – and perhaps even serves as an illustration of uncanny foresight into the predicted post-lockdown baby boom?

Watch the video HERE and listen to “ENERGY” HERE.

Disclosure explain, “When we found Eric many years ago, he was like a goldmine of inspirational quotes and motivational speeches. Even if he was speaking to a room of five, it was like he was addressing a stadium. He has an immense presence and energy about him that translates so well into music – especially house music. This time, we cut up various speeches to make something that makes sense. What he says is basically the whole concept for the record, that’s why it became the title track.” In addition to Thomas, a global spectrum of talented artists grace the album – and, for the first time, this includes rappers. Appearances from Mick Jenkins, ChannelTres, Aminé and slowthai sit comfortably alongside the legend that is Common. Other features include the inimitable Kelis, who opens the album, and Fatoumata Diawara, who the boys have also linked up with previously. Cameroon’s Blick Bassy brings his own flow to the table while a powerhouse team of Kehlani and Syd ease the pace with their contribution. See below for track listing. Through an epic process of creation and distillation, the path to producing their shortest, most direct album – 11 songs, 39 minutes – ran through around 200 tracks: everything from drum loops to fully-realized songs. The title ENERGY dictated their choices. The brothers recall, “The thing that decided which songs made it and which songs didn’t was that one word: energy. Every track was written really quickly. That’s why we had to write so many songs because those ones don’t come up every day. Or every week. Or every month.” Since live touring has been paused during the global pandemic and their own plans for 2020 put on hold, Guy (and sadly not Howard as they isolated in different countries) found an outlet for his desire to give people a good time no matter what the circumstances by doing a regular run of their popular Kitchen Mix parties via live stream, a set for Boiler Room and a one-off special to celebrate Earth Day. Fans who pre-order the album digitally will instantly receive the title track. ENERGY will also be available on vinyl, CD and cassette. Pre-order HERE. Disclosure have worked diligently to produce environmentally responsible products by focusing on a number of recycled and sustainable materials across all formats. These include forgoing plastic hard-cases for both the CD and cassette formats, utilizing vegetable and water-based inks and varnishes and opting for a mixture of recycled and FSC-approved cardboard, which extends to two of the three vinyl options. For the third vinyl option, ENERGY will be available on Superecovinyl format, which uses re-granulated PVC pellets to press the vinyl (with no loss of audio quality), a fully 100% recycled Bargesse board derived from sugarcane for the sleeve and shrink-wrapped in a sustainable sugarcane-based plastic. This year marks 10 years since Disclosure debuted with the single “Offline Dexterity.” In that decade, the brothers, who are still in their 20s, have released two albums – Settle (2013) and Caracal (2015) – clocked up 4.5 billion streams and 4.5 million album sales, received five GRAMMY nominations, sold 500,000 tickets to their headline shows and topped festival bills all over the world, something they do with ease while also enjoying playing to packed-out sweaty clubs whenever they can. Both of their full-length albums topped the U.K. Official Albums chart and received GRAMMY nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Settle was named the No.1 dance album of the decade by Billboard. A pair of EPs – Moonlight and Ecstasy – followed. When interviewers first asked Disclosure about their ambitions, they said they wanted longevity. They wanted to be able to move between clubs and festivals, stand-alone floor-fillers and substantial albums, DJing and performing. Ten years on, they’ve achieved their goal. “It’s such a privileged lane that we’ve found ourselves in,” says Guy Lawrence.

“It’s great that we can play to 20,000 people and then go and play a dark, sweaty rave. We just want the most amount of people to have the most amount of enjoyment. We can’t wait to do it again and again when the time comes.” – Guy Lawrence
