About Dreamville Records

Established by Jermaine Cole, better known as J. Cole, the Grammy-nominated artist and producer, Dreamville (Interscope Records) is a collective come record label known for its mastery of non-traditional approach to music and a mission to empower the culture while shifting narratives. Home to some of today’s most exciting voices such as J.I.D, Bas, Ari Lennox, EARTHGANG, Lute, Omen and Cozz, it garners a cult like fan base across the nation and globally. 2019 started off with a bang for Dreamville with its “Dreamers Sessions” making viral news and headlines across the internet, its success continued with a noisy takeover at NBA All Stars in Cole’s home state of North Carolina with pop up shops selling exclusive pieces and Cole performing the All Star halftime show. The southern state got a double dose of Dreamville for the inaugural Dreamville Festival — which packed out the legendary Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC of over 40,000 fans — hosting live music from Dreamville artists as well as special guests like 21 Savage, Nelly, Teyana Taylor and more. Satiating the thirst for new music came the fiery track from J. Cole in “Middle Child” — now certified triple platinum — that kickstarted a monumental countdown to the label’s highly anticipated project Revenge of The Dreamers III (now also certified platinum). The momentus album went on to receive critical acclaim and Grammy nominations including “Best Rap Album” and “Best Rap Performance” for lead single “Down Bad.”  The sessions, which spanned across multiple nights, birthed a body of music that transcends what happened at Tree Sound studios — where some of music’s brightest stars came together to quite simply; create.

JOHN LEGEND ART FOR NEW SINGLE “DOPE”

JOHN LEGEND – DOPE

Multi-platinum, 12-time GRAMMY Award-winner John Legend, today released the video for “Dope,” the first song from his forthcoming new album. The Christian Breslauer-directed video takes place at a soulful, eclectic retro house party, where Legend performs and parties with friends – including rapper J.I.D who is also featured on the track — into the wee hours of the morning. Watch the video for “Dope,” HERE. Listen to the song HERE.

Described by Rolling Stone as a “summery, feel-good track,” “Dope” was produced by Ian Kirkpatrick and Ryan Tedder. Legend co-wrote the track with Charlie Puth, Tedder, and J.I.D.

The EGOT artist first shared part of “Dope” at the iHeart Awards, where he did a special fan-favorite dueling piano performance with the song’s co-writer, Charlie Puth. The track is the first release from Legend’s forthcoming album, his first with new label partner Republic Records, following the release of his latest GRAMMY Award winner for Best R&B Album, Bigger Love.

Legend has been teasing “Dope” during his critically acclaimed, sold-out first run of his new Vegas Residency, “Love in Las Vegas.” Billboard raved about the show, saying “…Legend held the full house in his hands as they danced, screamed and aah-ed their way through a generous set encompassing the multiple Grammy winner’s seven-album catalogs of hits and fan faves.” Upcoming dates of the residency are August 5-20 and October 14-29 and you can get tickets HERE.

MEREBA – AZEB

Mereba Announces New EP AZEB

New Single “Rider” Soars to No. 5 on SoundCloud’s Top 50: R&B & Soul Chart

After dazzling fans with her enchanting new record, “Rider” last Friday, rising polymath Mereba is ready to deliver her forthcoming EP AZEB.

Pre-order HERE.

Titled after her middle name– which means where the Sun rises – AZEB represents light and provides refuge for those looking to move away from the darkness in their lives.

“This year has shown us that that is actually more of us than many people thought.,” says the singer. “I want to remind people of love, too. The very thing we deserve the right to do, and to be.” In her latest record, “Rider,” Mereba aims to be the ultimate partner for her beau by cultivating true love in its purest form. The record currently sits at No. 5 on the SoundCloud Top 50: R&B & Soul chart. Fans can pre-order the EP now.

Last month, Interview Mag featured the songstress in their latest issue. Mereba also took part in an enlightening interview/performance for Klipsch Audio’s newest series, Out Loud. There, she performed a unique medley and incorporated her standout record, “Planet U.”

Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer Marian Mereba, known as Mereba, got her start with a series of folk-soul hybrid releases. These releases include her self-released EP Room for Living, an alternately spacy and rustic set accompanied by her own guitar playing and production. In 2018, Mereba released her first singles through major-label Interscope. A 9th Wonder collaboration titled “Black Truck” marked her official debut that February. Mereba’s debut was followed by the release of “Planet U,” which she produced herself with co-production from Ayo Olatunji and Sam Hoffman.

Both tracks were included on her groundbreaking debut album The Jungle Is the Only Way Out, which arrived in February 2019 and featured appearances from 6LACK and J.I.D. The acclaimed project earned praise from Vogue, Pitchfork, Billboard, Earmilk, Hypebeast, and Ones to Watch, who noted that “Mereba has pushed the boundaries of R&B and established herself as a voice of the future.” Her innovative offering earned her an invitation to NPR’s coveted Tiny Desk for both a solo set in 2019 and a set alongside the genre-bending collective Spillage Village in 2020, of which she is a member. She also appeared on Dreamville’s now-platinum Revenge of the Dreamers III in 2019, which earned her her first Grammy nomination in 2020.

Smino Baguetti Artwork

Smino – Baguetti

In the wise opening words of J.I.D, “I need a minute to meditate.” On the new song “Baguetti,” Smino (Zero Fatigue/Downtown/Interscope) is joined by Dreamville’s J.I.D and superproducer Kenny Beats to grant us all three minutes to be still with our thoughts. In his typical eccentric manner, the St. Louis artist acknowledges God for not forsaking him while calling out those who haven’t dropped a metaphorical penny into the collection plate of society. J.I.D then wraps up today’s meditation session with a TED Talk-level explanation of his credentials in the music industry. Fans around the world can now set aside their daily time of peace on all platforms after they aggressively demanded an official release following a snippet.

Earlier this year, Smino released his song “Tempo” for his hardcore fanbase. Last year, Smino was featured on the Dreamville posse cut, “Sacrifices,” with J. Cole, Saba, and Earthgang. He also nabbed a coveted guest spot on Chance the Rapper’s album, The Big Day, on the song, “Eternal,” which peaked at #25 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. The duo performed the track for the first time at Lollapalooza. Smino is currently gearing up to release new music.

About EarthGang

Hailing from Atlanta, GA, EarthGang’s Olu and WowGr8 are the Grammy Award-nominated, Platinum-selling pair who embody the best of the new generation in music — and plenty of critics and fans alike have taken note. The music saw the duo tour the globe relentlessly supporting J. Cole, Young Thug, Billie Eilish, Mac Miller, Jaden Smith, and more.

It shined a spotlight on the pair as they went into the release of their debut major-label album, Mirrorland. The fourteen-track album debuted in the Top 40s of the Billboard 200 charts and #20 in the Rap Albums charts. Featuring special guests Young Thug, T-Pain, Kehlani, Arin Ray, and more — Mirrorland has cemented EarthGang as one of music’s most dynamic forces. Bursting with energy and having garnered a cult-like live following, the ATLiens have been critically praised by the likes of Pitchfork, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Hot New Hip Hop, Consequence of Sound, Uproxx, Pigeons & Planes, and more. Mereba Releases Visual For “Black Truck”

After stunning fans with her sultry debut single, “Black Truck,” Mereba (Interscope) has returned with an equally gripping visual. The 9th Wonder-produced song is a poetic depiction of the triumphs and trials of life and love; and the video complements the lyric’s abstract quality. Directed by Mereba and renowned photographers Durimel (twin brothers Jalan and Jibril), the video features a collage of raw and soulful shots, staged in Miami, Florida. James Laxton, director of cinematography for Moonlight, contributed to the production as well. You can view the video HERE.

Prior to the release of the “Black Truck,” Mereba was best known for her collaborations with Grammy nominated 6LACK and Dreamville newcomers J.I.D and Earthgang. Mereba’s unique voice and style lends itself to its own distinct genre of alternative R&B, and the rising star is also credited as a songwriter, rapper, guitarist and producer. Having spent her formative years living across the east coast as well as in her father’s native country, Ethiopia, Mereba further developed her artistry after moving to Atlanta. She credits Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill and Joni Mitchell as her greatest influences.
