Joy Crookes' Skin via Epic Records for use by 360 Magazine

Joy Crookes – Skin

BRIT Award nominated singer/songwriter Joy Crookes releases her highly anticipated debut album, Skin.  The 13 track body of work includes previously releases singles, “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now,” “When You Were Mine,” “Skin,” and the newest, “Trouble.” Get it HERE via Epic Records/Insanity.

With Crookes credited as an executive producer on the album, alongside the formidable Blue May (Blood Orange), Skin is a hugely personal, game-changing body of work from one of the UK’s boldest and brightest young talents. A collection of songs built and honed throughout her adolescence and into her early twenties, and finished last year within the most turbulent of circumstances, Skin touches on topics such as mental health, relationships, and politics all with grace and sensitivity. Crookes has created a truly special body of work that is both perfectly of the moment, and entirely timeless. Skin’s album artwork is shot by Carlota Guerrero, who has previously worked with Arca, Chloe x Halle, and Solange for all of her imagery for A Seat At The Table.

Already, the album has garnered Crookes a massive amount of acclaim worldwide. British Vogue has dubbed her, “undoubtedly one of the most exciting artists to emerge in the music scene this year,” while The Guardian has praised her “effortlessly nuanced and individual melodic sensibility.” I-D has praised her music as “powerful” while Complex has noted her “soul-stirring vocals,” and Billboard has similarly highlighted her “unfaltering vocal performance.”  The New York Times in a recent profile may have summed up Skin best:  “Crookes offers listeners a nuanced and candid exploration of her multiracial identity. At a time when many conversations about race in the arts and calls for change have only recently begun, Crookes’ commitment to vulnerability in her storytelling has helped her connect with a growing—and loyal—fan base.”

Up next, Joy Crookes will tour the UK later this year in celebration of the new album; the run kicks off in November in Brighton and extends into next year when she will take the tour to Europe. Full list of dates below.

CHLOE X HALLE

RELEASE ALTERNATE VERSION “TIPSY” AND COVER OF “SENDING ALL MY LOVE” FOR SPOTIFY SINGLES

LISTEN HERE

Chloe x Halle has shared two new tracks for the latest installment of Spotify Singles, marking the second-ever Are & Be-branded Spotify Singles release.

Recorded in LA, Chloe x Halle performed a stripped-down version of their hit single “Tipsy” from their recently released album Ungodly Hour as well as a cover of Zhané’s “Sending My Love,” with Chloe x Halle adding their subtly electronic 90s-R&B-inspired twist. Listen to both songs HERE.

“We first fell in love with ‘Sending All My Love’ by Zhané because our parents would blast it all around our house in Atlanta,” says Chloe x Halle. “We fell in love with the fact that they’re a duo as well, and how their voices blended so nicely together.  It was very inspiring to us as a duo too!”

Ungodly Hour is available HERE.

About EarthGang

Hailing from Atlanta, GA, EarthGang’s Olu and WowGr8 are the Grammy Award-nominated, Platinum-selling pair who embody the best of the new generation in music — and plenty of critics and fans alike have taken note. Marrying lean, sharp-eyed lyricism with Southern-fried soul, every song arrives fully formed, hitting hard and landing jokes while also delving deep into political issues. Signed to J. Cole’s Intercope imprint, Dreamville, EarthGang first hit a stride with 3-EP project inspired by “The Wiz;” Rags (Scarecrow), Robots (Tinman) and Royalty (the lion). The music saw the duo tour the globe relentlessly supporting J. Cole, Young Thug, Billie Eilish, Mac Miller, Jaden Smith, and more.

In 2019, EarthGang continued their dominance by contributing to the year’s best hip-hop compilation in Revenge of The Dreamers III — which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts is RIAA Platinum certified. It shined a spotlight on the pair as they went into the release of their debut major-label album, Mirrorland. The fourteen-track album debuted in the Top 40s of the Billboard 200 charts and #20 in the Rap Albums charts. Featuring special guests Young Thug, T-Pain, Kehlani, Arin Ray, and more — Mirrorland has cemented EarthGang as one of music’s most dynamic forces. Bursting with energy and having garnered a cult-like live following, the ATLiens have been critically praised by the likes of Pitchfork, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Hot New Hip Hop, Consequence of Sound, Uproxx, Pigeons & Planes, and more. Stretching beyond the “indie hip-hop” label they’ve been brandished with, EarthGang is ready to reach a wider audience with slick-sharp lyrics that cut through the hazy blur of ratchet rap and an avid interest in never settling, or resting on their laurels.

Netflix Kicks Off Breaking Bad Rewatch Campaign

Netflix is kicking off their Breaking Bad re-watch campaign with a video recap featuring anthemic music by the Grammy nominated duo, Chloe X Halle. Using the 1950’s doo-wop tune “Enchanted,” made famous by The Platters, the piece revisits the many painful, soul crushing moments Jesse (Aaron Paul) has gone through over the course of the five seasons of Breaking Bad… all those moments lead up to where we last see him in the final episode. The song choice is particularly special to Jesse since it’s the same music that plays when he tries Heroin for the first time with his now deceased girlfriend Jane (played Krysten Ritter).

Official Logline for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie: Written and directed by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, the Netflix Television Event follows fugitive Jesse Pinkman (Paul) as he runs from his captors, the law and his past. The movie is produced by Gilligan, Mark Johnson, Melissa Bernstein, Charles Newirth, Diane Mercer and Paul, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
