After individually booking the group members of Swedish House Mafia to spin, Wynn Nightlife decided to build a partnership to include the entire ensemble. This will mark SHM‘s first-ever nightlife residency within North America.

According to Ryan Jones, assistant vice president of Wynn Nightlife, the group has received an overwhelming response, resulting in almost sold out show.

The first two shows, August 20th and September 3rd, will both be held at the XS nightclub. Although Swedish House Mafia will play a traditional set in the DJ booth, audience members will witness a few surprises on those specific dates. Both shows will happen on Saturday night, around 1:30 am or 2 am and play until the venue closes. With a capacity of about 4,000 people, including 176 VIP tables, Ryan thinks the show will be an enormous success.

In addition, Calvin Harris will perform on September 17th at XS nightclub. More exciting news will be announced in the coming months.

As an innovative brand which has worked in tandem with both Coachella and the Super Bowl, the Wynn continues to seek new and exciting ways to remain relevant in both the music and entertainment industries.

According to Ryan, with regards to philanthropy, the community outreach program at Wynn Nightlife is robust. To date, the staff has volunteered 2,500 documented hours to various local charities and elementary schools within city limits.

For young people who seek similar positions, Ryan suggests they explore every aspect of the industry before making a decision.

Brittney Griner receives nine-year sentence in Russia

United States’ WNBA player Brittney Griner was sentenced to nine years of prison on Thursday August 4 in Russia. When travelling to Russia in February of the year, Griner had vape cartridges that carried less than one gram of cannabis oil in them.

In the courtroom before hearing her sentence, Briner stated, “I want the court to understand that this was an honest mistake that I made while rushing, under stress, trying to recover from COVID and just trying to get back to my team.”

Moments after Griner was sentenced, the White House released a statement, reportedly in the name of US President Joe Biden. The statement read, “Today, American citizen Brittney Griner received a prison sentence that is one more reminder of what the world already knew: Russia is wrongfully detaining Brittney, […] It’s unacceptable, and I call on Russia to release her immediately so she can be with her wife, loved ones, friends, and teammates.”

About Swedish House Mafia

In 2008, a trio of individual artists, DJs, and producers united to unassumingly break every rule in electronic music. Ensconced in flames, Swedish House Mafia—Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell—infused house music with swaggering hip-hop beat-craft, rock ‘n’ roll attitude, and big screen-worthy grandeur brought to life on stage with one legendary live show after another. Ushering dance music culture out of the warehouses and clubs and into arenas and stadiums on an unrivaled scale, it would be nearly impossible to imagine how the genre might’ve shaken out without them. They became the first electronic act to headline (and sell out) Madison Square Garden in 2011 and the first to grace the main stage at Coachella in 2012. They garnered two consecutive GRAMMY® nominations in the category of “Best Dance Recording” for the platinum “Save the World” in 2012 and quintuple-platinum Hot 100 Top 10 hit “Don’t You Worry Child” in 2013. Rolling Stone described their meteoric rise as “redefining rave culture, and NME christened them “the rockstars of the dance music world.” The marathon record-breaking One Last Tour paved the way for a five-year break before they returned as surprise headliners of Ultra Music Festival’s 20th anniversary in 2018. Following the Save The World Reunion Tour a year later, this holy trinity of electronic music gods focused on the one thing they hadn’t done yet, making their 2022 full-length debut album Paradise Again [Republic Records]. Their return was announced with the cover of Billboard and garnered immediate press and a late-night television performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon followed with a trending hit “A Moth To A Flame” featuring The Weeknd.
