Conan Gray × Met Gala

Platinum-selling singer, songwriter, and Gen-Z pop king Conan Gray made his Met Gala debut wearing custom Valentino. The look was a dreamy white and silver embellished ensemble with a flowing chiffon cape and was accompanied by shoes by Valentino

The Valentino Custom Made look was specially designed for Conan Gray by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Silver sequins are all over embroidered pants, with a white tulle embroidered shirt and a chiffon cape with Valentino Garavani platform white boots.

Here is what Gray had to say on the look/inspiration: “It’s an honor to attend my first MET Gala dressed by Valentino. I wanted to create a look that felt simultaneously Gilded Age, yet modern Valentino. My main goal with Pierpaolo and Katie Qian was to capture the message of gilded age elegance and glamor. Above all, I wanted a cape.”

Stylist Katie Qian commented, “I think the final look really captures a modern take on the excess and extravagance of the Gilded Age, all while tying in Valentino’s bold elegance and Conan’s regal personal style.”

This is the third time Gray has teamed up with Valentino, as he made his Coachella debut wearing custom Valentino for both weekends. The looks were put on numerous best-dressed lists for the weekend and had Vogue saying “Conan Gray’s Hot Pink Valentino Look Shut Down Coachella.” Find the review HERE.

Up next Conan will be headed to Europe to continue his 2022 Conan Gray World Tour in support of his sophomore album, Superache, out June 24th.

About Conan Gray

Since releasing original demos on his YouTube channel at the age of 15, Conan Gray has emerged as one of the pre-eminent pop superstars of his generation. Even after the commercial success of global multi-platinum hits “Heather” and “Maniac“, his music continues to maintain its unflinching authenticity and originality. Gray’s debut album, Kid Krow, crafted by Gray and longtime collaborator and producer Dan Nigro, reached #5 on the Billboard 200, #1 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart and became the biggest new artist debut of the year. In the summer of 2020, when “Heather” topped charts around the world, Sir Elton John publicly praised Gray for being the only artist on the Spotify top 50 to have written the song entirely on their own. With over 7 billion streams, Gray has attracted unanimous applause from a who’s who of tastemakers including Vogue, GQ, V Man, Paper, Fader, Billboard, NPR, MTV, I-D, Wonderland, Clash, Notion, and has delivered rapturous performances on television shows such as Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Today Show. Gray’s much anticipated sophomore album is set for release on June 24th, 2022.

DALLASK × LAUV — “TRY AGAIN”

Today, acclaimed producer/songwriter/artist DallasK unveiled his summery new single, “Try Again,” which features longtime friend and collaborator Lauv on vocals. With a wistful look back and a hopeful eye to the future, the track builds into an infectious, exhilarating plea to rekindle a romance that was perhaps never really over. You can download and stream “Try Again,” which was released today via Astralwerks, HERE. You can watch the lyric video HERE.

“Try Again” continues the collaboration that began when DallasK co-produced and co-wrote Lauv’s 2016 single “Breathe.” DallasK also co-produced and co-wrote “Sad Forever,” a single from Lauv’s 2020 debut album, ~how i’m feeling~, and collaborated on Lauv’s 2020 EP, Without You. The pair co-wrote “Try Again” with Michael Pollack (Lizzo, Zedd, Justin Bieber). In addition to producing, DallasK played all the instruments on the song.

DallasK, who is also known for his work with such artists as Tiësto, Fifth Harmony, BTS, Chromeo and KSHMR, says, “‘Try Again’ is actually the first dance record Lauv and I made together and it was super fun to create a unique record that encompasses both of our styles and influences.”

Lauv added, “Me and Dally made this song a couple years ago and we came back to it during quarantine and now we ready to put ‘er out into the world.”

Like the unforgettable ex in the song, the artists couldn’t resist returning to “Try Again,” a song that dates back to an informal 2016 recording session. Lauv and Michael Pollack joined Dallas at a lake house he’d rented in his hometown of Orlando, FL and there they created over a dozen songs.

“Several months later, Lauv’s artist project started to grow rapidly and he was suddenly on tour with Ed Sheeran and playing all around the world,” recalls DallasK. “We continued to work on his albums but ‘Try Again’ was always a favorite of ours that had gotten seemingly lost in the shuffle.”

After they rediscovered the track last year, Dallas FaceTimed Lauv with an idea for a more dance-focused version. Lauv loved it so much, he immediately re-recorded the vocals.

“Then we finished the record on a trip to Mexico for New Year’s and that’s the version you hear today!” says DallasK.

About DallasK:

Based in Los Angeles, DallasK (Dallas Koehlke) has released a string of acclaimed singles, including “All My Life,” “Self Control,” “I Know” and “Sometimes.” Praising the “relatable story” told on “Sometimes,” Billboard asked, “Does true love ever die? […] ‘Sometimes,’ the ghost of the past never really goes away. That’s the kind of love DallasK, Nicky Romero and XYLO wrote about on their summer heartbreak sing-along.”

DallasK is also known for his collaborations with such artists as Tiësto (“Show Me,” “Your Love”), Hardwell (“Area 51”) and KSHMR (“Burn”). He co-wrote and produced Fifth Harmony’s 5x Platinum single, “Work From Home” feat. Ty Dolla Sign as well as their singles “Down” and “He Like That.” He’s also remixed singles for such artists as Martin Garrix/Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, MGMT, A-Trak/Andrew Wyatt, Skrillex and T.I./Pharrell/Robin Thicke.

Popdust observed, “It’s impossible to escape his influence. From Ariana Grande and Kesha to Lauv, Katy Perry and Fifth Harmony, Koehlke has curated a staggering number of today’s hits, whether behind the scenes or in the production chair.”

About Lauv:

Lauv has quietly and steadily become one of pop’s brightest rising stars. He has released his music completely independently with billions of streams to his name. He has written for some of the biggest stars in the world, performed on late night talk shows, played stadiums opening for Ed Sheeran, and sold out shows in 20+ countries as a headliner. And he did all of this without releasing an album.

That changed in early 2020, with Lauv’s official debut, ~how i’m feeling~. A 21-song tour de force, the project marks a breakthrough, a real moment of arrival, from a young singer/songwriter/producer who Rolling Stone called “Pop’s Up-and-Coming Heartbreak King.” The album released as a Top 20 album in 10 territories, including #9 in UK and #5 in AU, with over 1.5 billion combined streams to date.

Since then, Lauv has released a surprise new EP titled Without You, created during quarantine, and joined forces with rising global pop superstar Conan Gray on the new single “Fake.” Lauv has been open about his own struggles with anxiety and depression and has taken action on the issue with his Blue Boy Foundation, which supports programs that help young people feel more comfortable reaching out for help with mental health.

Listen to “Home” by Ava Della Pietra here.

15-year-old singer/songwriter Ava Della Pietra has just released her most poignant single to-date with “Home,” inspired by the devastating stories of families torn apart on the southern border. Parade Magazine called the song “inspiring,” “empowering,” and a “pop ray of hope,” with “pure pop sensibility, catchy hooks and heartfelt lyrics…inspiring young listeners to feel proactive and empowered.” With lyrics that touch on fear, loneliness, and hope, “Home” is universal anthem for any young person struggling with life’s challenges, as relevant to those on the southern border as to the everyday teen. Parade adds, “Her spot-on vocals and sweet delivery will have you singing along and cheering for the power of open-minded activism.” Proceeds from the single and merchandise will be donated to charities dedicated to reuniting and rehoming children at the southern border.

Over the past few years, Ava has emerged as one of the most promising young artists on the pop scene today. Having established herself on the Broadway stage in the original cast of School of Rock, Ava’s debut single “Christmas Tonight” was named one of the “Best Holiday Songs” of the year by Tiger Beat Magazine, alongside artists like the Jonas Brothers and Liam Payne, and her follow-up single “Optimist” reached #50 on the Top 40 Radio chart, earning praise from American Songwriter, Just Jared Jr., and Newsday, who called Ava a “rising star.”

Produced by Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran, Jamie Lawson), “Home” is one of fifty songs that Ava has written, and the first of ten already produced, to be released in the coming months. Ava collaborated with some of the world’s top producers on her upcoming album, including Hicks, Justin Gray (Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey), and Adrian Gurvitz (Andra Day, Jesse McCartney, Cheetah Girls). Alongside “Home” and “Optimist,” the album will also feature songs like “Forgotten,” dedicated to the people of Puerto Rico suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, as well as Ava’s upcoming single “Isolation,” slated for release this spring.

“Over the past few years, I have been shocked to learn about the terrible conditions that children have had to endure at the border–being separated from their families and left alone,” Ava said. “I also know that there are kids around the world struggling in other ways, including emotional challenges, pressures at school, problems at home, and so much more. I hope this song can encourage people to lend a helping hand and be there for one another.”

A multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, bass, guitar, violin, and ukulele, Ava began performing at age four and writing songs at age five. She performed on the national tours of “Les Misérables” and “White Christmas” before joining the original cast of “Broadway’s School of Rock”, and has been featured on “Good Morning America”, “Sesame Street”, the Tony Awards, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver”, and more. Ava has performed at the Sundance Film Festival, the Great South Bay Music Festival, the New York Tennis Open, and at Madison Square Garden in front of 20,000 Knicks fans, as well as at My Father’s Place in Roslyn, New York, and in front of a sold-out crowd at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall. Most recently Ava launched “Talking Tunes with Ava Della Pietra,” a new music column with Teen Kid News, where she is reviewing popular hits. Ava was also featured on the soundtrack for “Secondhand Lions: A New Musical.”

A supporter of both local and national charitable organizations, Ava is dedicated to advocating for young people, inspiring others to believe in themselves and follow their dreams. For more information on Ava Della Pietra, please visit her website.

Here at 360 Magazine, we sat down with Ava to discuss the release of “Home,” her rise to fame, and how she finds inspiration for her soulful songwriting.

  1. Are there any specific charities you’d like to shout out of which to proceeds of “Home” are going toward? Yes, I am giving proceeds from “Home” to non-profit agencies helping unaccompanied minors to reunite with their families and find homes.

    2. You’ve written over 50 songs! That’s very impressive. Where do you find inspiration for writing all of these tracks?

Most of my inspiration comes from real life. I really enjoy expressing my emotions through my songwriting because I think it helps me discover more about myself. Sometimes, I will just be walking around my house and a thought will pop into my head. Unconsciously, I come up with a melody to that phrase, and occasionally I’ll create a song. Other times, I’ll simply sit down and think, “I want to write a song today!”

    3. Of the songs you’ve written that haven’t yet been produced, what other themes do you discuss within your music that you think are most important to bring awareness to?

A few themes I explore in my songs are love, empowerment, mental health, confidence, and friendship. For example, I’ve recently written a few songs about overcoming insecurities. Something I like about my music is that even though a couple of my songs may focus on sad topics, almost all of them have a positive or hopeful spin to them by the end.

    4. Even though other young people’s situations may not be as severe as those at the southern border, how do you see “Home” as a relatable anthem for all listeners?

“Home” is about lending a helping hand to those in need. This idea can apply to a wide range of situations, from daily encouragement to serious national issues, such as the southern border.

    5. What is the most standout performance of your career, in your opinion?

In terms of acting and performing arts, “School of Rock” on Broadway was definitely a dream come true. In regard to my singer-songwriter career, Sundance Film Festival was one of my favorite experiences. I also really enjoyed singing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden for a Knicks game, singing at My Father’s Place, and traveling out to Las Vegas to perform.

    6. You recently launched “Talking Tunes with Ava Della Pietra.” What artists do you particularly enjoy and inspire your own performance?

Some of my favorite artists are Lauv, Conan Gray, Halsey, Lewis Capaldi, and Camila Cabello. I also like Ed Sheeran and his performance style. He uses a loop pedal which allows him to add the different layers of a song live. I’ve recently started to use a looper, and I find it really fun to incorporate all 5 of my instruments into my performance.

    7. Do you have a “dream musical” you’d love to be involved with in the future?

I’m a huge fan of “Dear Evan Hansen”, so being a part of that musical would be absolutely incredible!

    8. You began performing at such a young age. When did you, or your parents, first recognize your natural ability to perform?

I’ve been singing more or less my whole life! I was in my first community theater production when I was four, and people began to approach my parents and encourage them to find me an agent. When I was six, I booked my first role in the National Tour of “Les Misérables.” Everything kind of skyrocketed from there.

    9. What are you most excited about regarding the upcoming release of your debut album?

I’m just so excited for people to listen to my music. Over the past year, my style has changed a lot, and I can’t wait for people to hear what I’ve been working on!

Music Video for Conan Gray – Heather

Today, pop singer-songwriter Conan Gray shares the music video for his latest single “Heather. It remains a standout from his critically adored debut album, Kid Krow—available HERE via Republic Records.  Watch “Heather” HERE.

About the visual, Conan commented, when i was in high school, i had a crush on the same one person all four years. but that one person did not love me back, instead my crush liked a girl named heather. heather was gentle and beautiful, inside and out. she was warm like a summer day, and had so many friends. she was soft and so easily lovable— everything i am not. the heather video is my way of becoming all of the things that i envy about heather. i would’ve done anything to be like her. wear the right pretty clothes and act the right effortless way. reject all the things that made me who i am. anything to be loved back by the person i loved. anything to be their first choice. the slow transformation throughout the video was made to represent the feminine and masculine traits i constantly switched between in order to become who i knew my crush would like. somebody soft and sweet. somebody like heather.

The highly intimate video builds towards a transformative climax that proves provocative and thought-provoking. Tight and vulnerable closeups of the artist capture the tension between soft guitar and his confessional vocals. All building to the video’s finale, revealing a surprise full circle moment to fans.

Accomplishments

“Heather” continues his unprecedented success. Dominating DSPs, it recently ascended to #1 on the Apple Music Pop Songs Chart (US). As well as, #1 on the Tik Tok Pop Playlist Sound (US). It captured spots in the Top 15 of the Spotify US Daily Top 200, Top 25 on the Spotify Global Daily Top 200, Top 30 of the Apple Music Top 200 Songs (US), Top 30 on Apple Music Top 100: Global Songs, and Top 20 on the iTunes Top Pop Songs Chart. Plus, it claimed a place on Spotify’s “Today’s Top Hits” and Apple Music’s “Today’s Hits.  With 110 million global streams, it emerged as one of the Top 100 Most-Streamed Tracks on Amazon Music.

Speaking to his impact, Billboard, Forbes, and OnesToWatch have pegged him among next year’s “Best New Artist” nominees for the 2021 GRAMMY® Awards. Both Billboard and Forbes named “Maniac” among “The 50 Best Songs of 2020 (So Far)” and also proclaimed Kid Krow as one of “The Best Albums of 2020 (So Far).

Conan Gray New Single

On the eve of headlining a sold-out run across North America, The Comfort Crowd” Tour, buzzing 20-year-old bedroom pop singer-songwriter Conan Gray unveils his official new single “Maniac” today.

Check out the official music video for “Maniac”HERE and stream the song Here via Republic Records

On the song Conan said:“I wrote maniac in the shower after getting a midnight drunk sob text from my ex. They’d been running all around town telling everyone that I was some freak who wouldn’t leave them alone when in reality, they were the freak. They were the one acting like a maniac— sending strange late-night texts and showing up at my shows unannounced. T thought it was hilarious and all my friends had dealt with the same thing, so I decided to write a cathartic post break-up song dedicated to psychotic exes. that’s how maniac was born.”

Nodding to horror classics like Zombieland and Dawn of the Dead, the action goes down on “Devil’s Night” just a day before Halloween. The teasers for the video have shown Conan and his friend Jess (played by Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World star Jessica Barden) working at a movie theater. Watch the full video to see what happens……

Conan also said of the video: “I think everyone has dealt with a psycho ex at one point in their life. with the “Maniac” video, I wanted everyone’s worst nightmare to come true— all of your exes coming back from the dead to haunt you all in one night. “Night of the Living Exes,” if you will. The second I came up with the video, I knew immediately that I wanted Jess Barden from “The End Of The F***ing World” to play the best friend. Jess is incredibly talented, and her character reminds me a ton of my own best friend who I’d seen date a slew of different types of people. The jock, the artsy one, the nice one, etc. I thought it’d be fun to showcase all of the stereotypes in a cheesy 80’s horror movie esque video.”

Later this month, Conan returns to the road for “The Comfort Crowd” Tour. The six-week run kicks off October 29 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO. It stops in major markets across the country, including New York’s Terminal 5 on November 12th, before concluding with a three-night stand at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, CA December 11-13.

In addition, he recently was featured in V Man’s Fall/Winter 2019 issue, UPROXXPaper, and Grammy.com in addition to receiving a nomination at the YouTube STREAMY Awards in the category of “Breakthrough Artist.”

“The Comfort Crowd” Tour follows his recent sold out European tour, as well as a momentous North American spring headline tour that included sold out shows in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Toronto.

Check out the official music video for “Checkmate
 here!

On the video Conan Gray said:
“In the “Checkmate” music video, I finally get revenge for all the times I got played with in a relationship. If you wanna treat love like a game, I’m gonna win it. If you wanna cheat on me with my best friend, I’m gonna trick you into thinking I don’t know, then kidnap you both and send you to starve on a deserted island so you can spend the rest of you short lives alone together (just like you wanted). Cheers!”

On writing the song he also mentioned:
“‘Checkmate’ is a song that spewed out of me while alone in my bedroom. It took me about four minutes, and I just ugly cried out a whole song about this person I liked who was always playing games with my heart. They’d call me super drunk in the middle of the night telling me they loved me, then they’d spend the next week cold and ignoring me. “Checkmate” was my last draw; my way of saying “I’m done with these games. If you wanna play this game, I’m gonna win.’”

This fall he returns to the road for his next North American headline,
“The Comfort Crowd” Tour. The six-week run kicks off October 29 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO, performs in major markets across the country including New York’s Terminal 5 on November 12th, and concludes with a three-night stand at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, CA December 11-13th(third date recently added!). Not to mention he’ll be making his festival debut this year at Lollapalooza and Life is Beautiful Festival.

Of the new tune, he commented, “‘The King’ is a song I wrote about this massive crush I had on someone who just wouldn’t admit they liked me back.
