Amber Mark – Softly

Today New York based singer, songwriter and producer Amber Mark releases a brand new single ‘Softly’ via PMR/Interscope Records. Sampling Craig David’s ‘Rendezvous’, the new single is the fifth preview of her long-awaited debut album ‘Three Dimensions Deep’. Due for release on January 28th, the album will be followed by huge UK, EU and US spring tours including a night at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in March.

Amber’s debut album arrives almost 4 years after the release of her second EP ‘Conexão’, an extended process that has proved central to its thematic development. The 17 track album can be divided into three main acts that follow the arc of Amber’s personal and musical development; WITHOUT, WITHHELD and WITHIN. Beginning by acknowledging her insecurities and anxieties before reflecting on her time in denial and spent processing them in all the wrong ways, Amber eventually widens her focus by seeking answers to the world’s negativity and trauma on a cosmic scale. Finding peace and a form of inherent spirituality in the world of astrophysics while writing the album led to a fresh perspective on life and a renewed sense of self. Amber’s debut album is simultaneously a profound concept album and a love letter to herself, richly intertwining messages of self-worth and reflections on the universe beneath a veneer of shimmering pop. In true Amber Mark style, ‘Three Dimensions Deep’ is a kaleidoscopic melting pot of influences and genres, drawing from funk and R&B, soul and hip-hop with international accents influenced by a nomadic childhood spent travelling the world with her late mother. View a trailer for the album HERE.

“Three Dimensions Deep is a musical journey of what questions you begin to ask yourself when you start looking to the universe for answers.” says Amber; “I can only go as deep as the third dimension as that’s how we see the world, but what about when you start looking to the universe within for answers.”

The three official singles previously released from the album ‘Worth It’, ‘Competition’ and ‘Foreign Things’ marked Amber’s first official singles since 2020’s ‘Generous’, though 2020 was still a hugely productive year for Amber. With her hometown of NYC hit hard in the first wave of the pandemic and placed under strict lockdown, Amber turned to her simple home studio to create an acclaimed series of home-produced covers and originals titled ‘Covered-19’, each accompanied by a homemade video and artworks. The series was followed by a collaboration with longtime friend Empress Of on the protest song ‘You’ve Got To Feel’, earning Annie Mac’s Hottest Record, ‘Tune Of The Week’ and a spot on the Radio 1 playlist. Earlier this year Amber was featured on legendary DJ Paul Woolford’s new piano-house track ‘HEAT’, again snagging Annie Mac’s Hottest Record and a long run across the Radio 1 and 2 playlists. Having already amassed over 300 million streams since the release of her breakout debut EP 3:33AM in 2017, Amber has built a global fanbase eager to hear her debut full length – pre-save it HERE.

Foreign Things is the third single to emerge from her forthcoming debut album, coming soon via PMR/Interscope Records. The track is accompanied by a stunning official video co-directed by Amber with best friend Satya Zoa, with Foreign Things serving the first chapter of a 5-part anthology of the album’s videos set to form a short film to be released alongside the album. Of the song Amber says, Foreign Things is about the excitement of new experiences. The thrill of newness. This marks the start of my journey towards self discovery and serves as a precursor to the enlightenment and self love that’s achieved in previous singles Worth It and Competition. So excited to continue to piece this story together!

While April’s release of Worth It, which NPR featured as one of their Favorite Songs of 2021 (so far), marked the first official single since 2020’s Generous, 2020 was still a hugely productive year for Amber. With her hometown of NYC hit hard in the first wave of the pandemic and placed under strict lockdown, Amber turned to her simple home studio to create an acclaimed series of home-produced covers and originals titled Covered-19, each accompanied by a homemade video and artworks. The series was followed by a collaboration with longtime friend Empress Of on the protest song You’ve Got To Feel, earning Annie Mac’s Hottest Record, Tune Of The Week and a spot on the Radio 1 playlist. Earlier this year Amber was featured on legendary DJ Paul Woolford’s new piano-house track HEAT, again snagging Annie Mac’s Hottest Record and a long run across the Radio 1 and 2 playlists. Having already amassed over 300 million streams since the release of her breakout debut EP 3:33AM in 2017, news on Amber’s debut album will follow soon.

Mae Muller – dependent

Mae Muller dropped a brand new music video Wednesday for her song “dependent.”

The new video from the North London-based singer is directed by Sophia Ray, who has worked with artists like Lily Allen, Ty Dolla $ign and Amber Mark. You can see it by clicking right here.

Muller said this is one of her favorite videos she has ever done.

“I loved collaborating with the super talented Sophia Ray and the team that brought the concept of the song to life. The looks, the dancers, everything is on point! I really wanted to do this song justice with a stunning video and feel like we’ve really achieved that,” Muller said.

The song opens her debut EP, which is titled “no one else, not even you,” and it takes a look at the joy of finding love in combination with the fear of losing your individuality. The EP contains eight tracks and showcases Muller’s undeniably fearless and fun style of pop music.

She said she wrote the song at the beginning of a relationship at a time during which she could feel herself falling in love but felt scared at the same time.

“That’s what always happens when I start to fall for someone: instead of going with the flow and just enjoying myself, I start to panic a bit because of the power you have to give up,” she said. “This song is me being totally honest about not wanting to become dependent on someone, because my independence is so important to me.”

The song is co-written by Henrik Michelson of Electric, and it is produced and written with help from Rick Nowels, Jimmy Napes, Skyler Stonestreet and Kenny Beats.

At 23 years old, Muller has already racked up more than 100 million global streams and has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday and Apple Music’s A-List Pop, In My Room, Future Hits and more.

She also sold out a 2020 headline tour of the United Kingdom, proving her ability to build a fan base around the entire world.

Critics and press are also loving Muller.

GQ said, “Mae Muller’s witty and brutally honest lyrics set her apart from her peers.”

Flaunt said, “Mae Muller is your new favorite singerߪHer goal is to be a spokeswoman for this new generation, unveiling layers of authenticity, talent, beauty and confidence.”

Wonderland called her a “clear pop sensation in the making,” while The Guardian said listeners can “expect an abundance of attitude.”

Amber Mark – Thong Song

Today, New York based singer, songwriter and producer Amber Mark releases ‘Thong Song’, a cover of Sisqó’s turn-of-the-century R&B classic. ‘Thong Song’ is the fifth and final track in Amber’s series of covers and originals titled ‘Covered-19’ that has seen Amber regularly release new tracks entirely self-produced and recorded from her NYC flat during the lockdown alongside home-made visuals – watch the video for ‘Thong Song’ HERE.

LISTEN TO ‘THONG SONG’ HERE

Amber’s unique twist on the classic track stylistically follows the debut track of the series; a cover of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ that Stereogum calls “a radical reimagining”. Other tracks from the series include originals ‘1894’ and ‘Waiting (Demo)’, and most recently a cover of Eddie Kendricks’ ‘My People…Hold On’ recorded for charity in reaction to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests around the world, which was recently added to Michelle Obama’s Spotify playlist. Amber also released a short cover of The Who’s classic track ‘The Seeker’ which earned a nod of approval from none other than Pete Townshend, who commented “I’m in shock. So cool. Thank you. You made this your own.” The series has been hugely popular, accumulating more than 7 million streams across all platforms and earning Amber over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The ‘Covered-19’ series follows recent single ‘Generous’; a woozy, bumping bedroom jam laced with strings sampled from Henry Mancini’s ‘Lujon’. BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra playlist support and streamed the track more than 1 million times. In addition, Amber is also a face of Calvin Klein’s new spring campaign. ‘Generous’ comes hot on the heels of a stellar 2019 for Amber that saw her rack up over 100 million combined streams, play Pitchfork Festival and Governor’s Ball and have singles ‘Mixer’ and ‘What If’ playlisted at BBC 1Xtra, while ‘Mixer’ was named one of NPR’s Best Songs of 2019. Following the conclusion of ‘Covered-19’ and with the world looking ahead to a brighter future, stay tuned for more new music and news from Amber later in 2020.

Amber Mark My People

Today New York based singer, songwriter and producer Amber Mark releases ‘My People’, a cover of “My People…Hold On” by Eddie Kendricks, lead singer of The Temptations, via PMR/Interscope Records.

The poignant cover was recorded in reaction to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests around the world, with the single artwork featuring the names of black Americans who have been killed either by police or racist acts of violence. The cover is accompanied by a stunning home-made video. All profits from ‘My People’ will be donated to organisations dedicated to the development of black agricultural land ownership.

“It’s so amazing to see the world learning, growing and most importantly helping one another. We cannot let go of this feeling or this moment. We should use this positive mentality as the everlasting force driving humankind as a whole to greatness not just for the future of yourself but for the future of everyone around you” says Amber.

“This cover and really any song I’ve made is dedicated to all of the people doing this. We have had enough, it’s time to bring more positive force into this world… To all the people speaking out on behalf of purely loving one another no matter the minuscule .1% differences in our DNA. Hold on to that love and know YOU, no matter where your homo sapiens ancestors migrated to, are and always will be MY people. 100% of profits made from ‘My People’ will go to organizations that develop black agricultural land ownership. In my opinion what we need as a human race to truly thrive is good quality education and good quality land & food. The only way we can accomplish such is by giving our black communities access to land and the tools to use it.”

‘My People’ is the fourth track from Amber’s ongoing series of fortnightly covers and originals titled ‘Covered-19’, which have now accumulated more than 3.5 million streams. The series has seen Amber regularly release new tracks entirely self-produced and recorded from her NYC flat during the lockdown alongside home-made visuals, and started with a cover of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’. Other tracks from the series include originals ‘1894’ and ‘Waiting (Demo)’, as well as a short cover of The Who’s classic track ‘The Seeker’ which earned a nod of approval from none other than Pete Townshend, who commented “I’m in shock. Amber Mark Releases New Single

Today New York based singer, songwriter and producer Amber Mark releases her brand new single ‘What If’ via PMR/Interscope Records. The sultry, downtempo track features soaring R&B vocals from Amber and was produced by Jeff “Gitty “ Gitelman (Anderson. Paak, Mac Miller, Chic). ‘What If’ is accompanied by a sensual, kaleidoscopic video directed by previous collaborator Renée Rodenkirchen.

Having spent the winter writing and recording at home in NYC, Amber returned last month with the groove-driven breakthrough single ‘Mixer’, with even more sublime, genre-bending releases from the multi-faceted artist still to come this summer.

Following her raved about set at New York’s Governors Ball Festival this past weekend, Amber is set to perform at Pitchfork Festival in Chicago before heading to Philadelphia to play Made in America festival. After a whistle-stop visit to London in November to play two nights at the O2 Academy Brixton supporting Leon Bridges followed by a stellar sold-out headline show at Oslo Hackney, Amber is heading back to Europe for a string of headline dates and festivals in July, including her biggest London show to date at Scala July 9th.
