Muni Long – Hrs and Hrs

Leauxfi‘s The TEN Music Group just earned the #1 R&B single in the country by producing Muni Long‘s “Hrs and Hrs” for her 2021 album, Public Displays of Affection.

On the track, a steady bassline sets the tone for sultry instrumentals to shine as Muni Long’s angelic voice details a longing and passionate love. The single builds momentum as Muni brings the heat, breaking into a vibrant refrain of “A love like ours, I prayed for it on my knees every night for some hours and hours and hours.”

“Hrs and Hrs” was co-produced by TEN Music Group member Dylan Graham and rising producer Ralph Tiller. The 29-year-old Graham originally hails from Ontario, Canada, but he currently resides in Orlando. He has notably cooked up and composed samples for the last five years and produced the melodies for the track. It also marks the first beat placement for Tiller. He calls Tunisia home, and he started producing seven years ago.

Of the process behind this banger, Tiller states: I got the pack from Dylan. After laying the drums, I made the first version and a second version. The second version is the one that ended up on YouTube, and it had 1 million plays over the course of 8 months until she found it. After a month of the record being out, I saw the song taking off on TikTok. I saw Muni’s Instagram and YouTube, and I knew this record was special. It was getting bigger and bigger every day, every time I looked at it. I received a call from her at that point to handle the business side. We were all so excited! The challenge really took off and it was so crazy to see. We’re all super excited to see where this goes.”

The TEN Music Group is a collective of talented producers all at the launching point of their careers. They’ve already had high-profile placements on tracks for artists such as Lil TJay, Yung Bans, Boosie Badazz, and more.

Stay tuned for even more to come from this talented group of producers and artists.

ABOUT GRYFFIN

Born Dan Griffith, Gryffin got his start in music as a classically trained pianist and guitarist and also played in several bands. After receiving an electrical engineering degree from the University of Southern California, he pursued a path in music production, drawing equally from his carefully honed musicality and edgy ingenuity. Gryffin made his breakthrough in 2016 with two singles showcasing his melodic take on dance music: “Heading Home” ft. Josef Salvat (which shot to #1 on Spotify’s US and Global Viral charts) and the Bipolar Sunshine collaboration “Whole Heart.” In addition, his 2017 smash single “Feel Good” — with Illenium and featuring Daya— peaked at #18 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts. Gryffin’s major triumphs also include “Tie Me Down” ft. Elley Duhé (which hit #2 on the Spotify US Viral Chart and #9 on the Global Viral Chart), “Remember” ft. Zohara (which garnered 6.5 million streams in its first few weeks and earned support from Tiesto, who featured the track on an Instagram story), and “All You Need to Know” with SLANDER ft. Calle Lehmann (a gold-certified smash that’s now surpassed 100 million streams). Arriving in October 2019, Gryffin’s debut album Gravity quickly climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

HIP HOP IN NYC CONCERTS

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM) Executive Director and President Rocky Bucano today announced with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and New York State Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie the dynamic lineup of Hip Hop, Latin freestyle, dance, freestyle, techno, and funk artists set to perform at the “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” concerts to be held at outdoor venues in The Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens.

As a celebration of New York City’s comeback during NYC Homecoming Week, between August 14th to 22nd, all tickets for “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” concerts—produced by New York City, the Universal Hip Hop Museum, and IDEKO—will be available for free.

“You don’t want to miss the local, legendary talent performing throughout NYC Homecoming Week,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “As we celebrate this Summer of New York City, we’re proud to partner with Rocky Bucano and the Universal Hip Hop Museum to bring these momentous concerts to our boroughs, free of charge. And if you get a ticket, you can go as long you have proof of your first dose of an approved COVID vaccine.”

“Hip Hop comes home to celebrate NYC Homecoming Week!” said Rocky Bucano, Executive Director and President of the Universal Hip Hop Museum. “Many of the artists performing in these shows are native New Yorkers hailing from the five boroughs. It’s their talent, creativity, and passion for the culture that spread it from the stoops, parks, and playgrounds to stages worldwide. The Universal Hip Hop Museum is proud to welcome them home, back to where it all began.”

“I’m excited to see this marquee event for NYC’s homecoming kick off in The Bronx. The Birthplace of Hip Hop will set the tone for the upcoming “It’s Time for Hip Hop NYC” concerts around New York City. This will be a show you do not want to miss,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

“NYC Homecoming Week will allow for New Yorkers to celebrate our resiliency during an unprecedented time. As we work towards defeating COVID-19, what way to better come together than with a borough-wide initiative that will bring our small businesses to the forefront which has been so crucial to keeping our communities going through the toughest of times,” said New York State Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie. “Having the Universal Hip Hop museum’s participation in this celebration will bring NYC joy. Music has a way of unifying people of all backgrounds and giving soul to our great city. Thank you to Mayor Bill de Blasio and Universal Hip Hop Museum Executive Director and President Rocky Bucano for the “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” concert series. These free events will allow for NYC dwellers to have safe summertime fun as well as a small return to normalcy.”

“At Citywide Events we work with partners across the five boroughs and beyond to ensure that events in our City are both safe and enjoyable for all,” said Citywide Events Executive Director Dan Gross. “We’re honored to produce the “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” free concerts as part of our NYC Homecoming Week celebration that will exemplify the resiliency, strength, and creativity of our city.”

“IDEKO is thrilled to be a part of NYC Homecoming Week and reopening this great City that we all call home,” said Evan Korn, CEO of IDEKO. “We are excited to partner with Mayor de Blasio, Rocky Bucano, and the Universal Hip Hop Museum to produce four great nights of concerts in the boroughs. New York City is Back!”

All attendees must present proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter the “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” concerts. Reasonable accommodation will be provided for persons unable to get vaccinated because of a disability.

Free tickets for all four concerts will be released to the public in batches at nyc.gov/HomecomingWeek starting on Monday, August 2 at 10 a.m. EDT. Additional free ticket release dates and times are as follows:

  • Tuesday, August 3 at 7 a.m. EDT

  • Wednesday, August 4 at 9 p.m. EDT

  • Thursday, August 5 at 7 a.m. EDT

  • Friday, August 6 at 10 a.m. EDT

  • Saturday, August 7 at 9 p.m. EDT

New York City, UHHM, and IDEKO have teamed with Behind The Rhyme, a channel on Twitch devoted to Hip Hop and its culture, to Livestream the events in The Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens. The broadcast, produced by Fortress Entertainment and Fuzzy Bunny Films, will feature live performances as well as backstage content and interviews hosted by veteran journalist Shaheem Reid. From August 16th to 17th and August 19th to 20th, fans can watch, chat and share custom emotes HERE.

As part of the “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” experience and emphasizing the historical connection between Hip Hop and graffiti art, Thrive Collective—a nonprofit that creates hope and opportunity through arts, sports, and mentoring in and around public schools—will be curating a roster of standout New York City street artists that will create live, temporary art installations during the concerts.

“We’re thrilled to be working in the city that I love and with the NYC Mayor’s Office to showcase the “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” event to the world,” says Ann Carli, Executive Producer of live streaming partner Behind The Rhyme. “Our channel has found a kindred spirit in the Universal Hip Hop Museum, an organization dedicated to the preservation of Hip Hop music and culture, which were born and raised on the streets of New York City.”

“Hip Hop embodies the creative spirit of resilient New Yorkers. Emcees provide the voice; graffiti writers, the name; breakers, the movement; and DJs, the community. Knowledge inspires us to never, ever give up,” said Jeremy Del Rio, Executive Director of Thrive Collective. “Thrive Collective proudly celebrates that heritage and our City’s continuing resilience, and we look forward to bringing live art to these concerts during NYC Homecoming Week.”

In addition to “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC,” NYC Homecoming Week, a citywide celebration of New York City’s resilience, will also include from August 14th through August 22nd:

  • “WE LOVE NYC: The Homecoming Concert produced by New York City, Clive Davis, and Live Nation” on Saturday, August 21 at 5 p.m. EDT

  • Free movie screenings by Rooftop Films;

  • Cultural activities and public art; and

  • Iconic events including NYC Restaurant Week and Summer Streets.

This celebration of New York City’s resilience will drive support for the mom-and-pop businesses and local organizations that define our neighborhoods and that kept the heart of our city beating throughout the COVID pandemic. Visit nyc.gov/HomecomingWeek for more information.

LIL MOE 6BLOCKA x ROOGA

CHICAGO’S LIL MOE 6Blocka AND ROOGA TEAM UP ON SCRAPPERS MIXTAPE, SET FOR JULY 23 RELEASE

New Single and Video, “No Love,” Out Today

Today, Lil Moe 6Blocka and Rooga announce the release date for their SCRAPPERS mixtape – set for July 23 – and share their new single,“No Love.” The two Chicago rappers go bar for bar on the melodic track, with Rooga teaching Moe a better way to navigate life and Moe sparking a renewed hustle in his friend as they contemplate the changes they’ve seen in their hometown. Listen to “No Love,” which was produced by RellyMade (Lil Tjay, Pop Smoke), HERE.

“Lil Moe taught me to never give up. He just hopped in and it happened for him. I’ve been pushing harder off how he’s moving,” says Rooga, a lynchpin of the Chicago rap scene since the release of his acclaimed 2016 tape, I Am Scrapp. After losing too many loved ones to gun violence, Rooga became a community activist. 16-year-old Moe, a disciple of drill rap who spits bars with unparalleled charisma, has established himself as the voice of a new generation in Chicago. A friend and collaborator of the late rapper Dooski, Moe has released high-octane hits like “Risky” (named one of “the best hip-hop songs of 2021” by HipHopDx and later making waves with a remix featuring 22Gz), “Leave Em Stretched,” “Nothin,” and “Ion Know.”

Moe and Rooga have taken different paths, but they’ve come to the same conclusion: Rap is both the best way to remember those they’ve lost, and to try to prevent that pain from happening again. The official video for “No Love,” which premiered earlier today on Moe’s YouTube channel, finds the pair in the backseat of a car, reminiscing about the friends they’ve lost as they’re driven through the gates of a cemetery. Flashing back to the pivotal moment when a friend is shot brings home the song’s central message – “The hood ain’t what it was now/Ain’t no love now.” Yet in the midst of their sorrow, they pray for better days. View the emotional video, which was directed by Taylor Johnson and Joi Loggins, HERE.

SCRAPPERS is a powerful testament to the importance of mentorship, and features a blend of stirring drill beats, earworm melodies and an easy rapport that demonstrates the strength of their connection. Released last month, the first single, “Get You Wacked,” was produced by C-Sick, one of the pioneering producers of the Windy City’s drill scene. Bristling with bravado and sly wordplay, it announces the duo’s auspicious arrival and establishes them as a force to be reckoned with. Download/stream “Get You Wacked” HERE. View the official video, which has amassed over half a million views, HERE.

The mixtape’s title is multi-faceted metaphor. It’s a nod of respect to Rooga’s little brother “Scrapp” and others they’ve lost – heartbreaking experiences that have left Moe and Rooga as the “scraps,” the remaining fragments. And it’s about scrapping – doing what you need to do to overcome.

Teddy Swims – “My Bad”

Newly minted Artist To Watch” by Rolling Stone, ace Atlanta singer/songwriter Teddy Swims is back with his first new single and music video of 2021 entitled “My Bad” today. Get it HERE and watch the video HERE.

Once again, his rich vocals take center stage on the track, simmering with soul, spirit, and swagger. In the accompanying music video, he steps into the squared circle as wrestler “Magic Dirty.”

About the song, he said, “We wrote this song about my fear of commitment. The video was a real dream come true, and I was able to set foot in an actual ring for the first time in my life. I hope people enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it!”

It’s a big day for Teddy. In addition to the single dropping, he makes his national television debut on NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show where he’ll perform “My Bad.”

Teddy recently appeared on the latest episode of Allen Stone’s “Live At The Lodge” on Stone’s YouTube channel. The two teamed up to cover the Hall & Oats classic “Sara Smile. Watch it HERE. Teddy will also appear on Allen’s special Valentine’s Day virtual concert on February 12th.

To cap off a breakthrough 2020, Teddy enlisted Country star Thomas Rhett to feature on a new version of “Broke.Inciting critical applause, Billboard described it as “Guaranteed to make you smile and tap your toes at the same time. A winning combination. The original “Broke”—Teddy’s second original release—earned raves from the likes of Idolator, Flaunt, and American Songwriter, the latter of which praised Teddy’s “honest, emotional” sentiments. Music critic Bob Lefsetz was similarly wowed by “Broke,” writing, “I’d say it’s a one listen smash, but that’s not an accurate description, IT’S A FIFTEEN SECOND SMASH!”).  Teddy got his start by posting covers on YouTube out of his bedroom. His bold voice immediately resonated as he impressively attracted an audience of 1.7 million through a steady stream of both hilarious and heartfelt moments.

About Teddy Swims

Teddy Swims contains multitudes. It’s right there in his name— “Swims” is an acronym for “Someone Who Isn’t Me Sometimes,” and it’s a kind of shorthand for everything he stands for. There’s the fact that his voice sounds cozy and rich over any of the many genres he loves to mix up, from the pop and soul most have heard, on to gospel, hip-hop, and hard rock. But it’s even bigger than the Atlanta singer and songwriter’s rich baritone. To Teddy, the concept goes beyond his art, it means empathy, connection, using music to serve a greater good, and staying true to your people—in his case, a core group of about a dozen buds, bandmates, producers, and other various visionaries who knew him well before he became Teddy Swims.

“I’m too hard on myself,” says Teddy, though you wouldn’t know it from his bright, boisterous presence in his songs and videos. “I’m always in my head. You gotta have the guy behind you who says, ‘Man, this is great!’ Well, I’ve got 12 of those guys, and they’re the best people I know.”

Today, of course, Teddy has a following of millions who’ve gravitated to him on the strength of his funk-laced originals and unexpected covers (like his version of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One,” which Twain herself has praised). But getting here has been a wild journey. The man born Jaten Dimsdale grew up in Georgia, a preacher’s grandson with a powerful voice of his own. He played football and a handful of roles in high school musicals, but it was a particularly active time in Atlanta’s metal, punk, and rap scenes—music called to him. Teddy being Teddy though, it was all of the music. Taking his place behind the mic in a handful of acts, he rapped, screamed, and even cooed cover songs at wedding receptions. By 2018, he was in multiple bands including a progressive jam crew called Elefvnts.

By 2019, Teddy was out of a job and a home, crashing with his dad while hoping for a lifeline. He unwittingly made one for himself when, on a whim, he shared a video of him singing Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” on YouTube. “It was the 10-year anniversary of his death,” Teddy recalls, “and we just thought we’d pay homage. Within a few days, it was going crazy.” As it turns out, that clip was Teddy’s first step in making his way from broke to “Broke.” More covers followed—spanning Marvin Gaye to Billie Eilish—showcasing his talent, humor, style, and ease in the studio, and garnering more and more fans in the process. Teddy upgraded his situation, but not in the way most burgeoning stars would. That core team of his have been with him night and day ever since, quite literally. They live in the same house; they share the same dreams.

“I wasn’t willing to give up the people around me who keep me sane and safe,” Teddy says. “We figured if we all put our heads together and focused on this, we wouldn’t need anybody else.”

But Teddy knows there’s always room for more under his roof. After signing to Warner Records in early 2020, he released his first original song—the frisky, funked-up “Picky”—and took off on a sold-out cross-country headlining tour. Then came “Broke,” a raucous clap-along anthem about the joys of (finally) making and spending mad cash, produced by Julian Bunetta (One Direction) and reworked version featuring Grammy-nominated superstar Thomas Rhett.  The tracks and their accompanying videos comprise a glorious celebration of excess that’s plenty justified by all of the reverent nods to James Brown and Teddy’s goofily sweet sense of humor. “Girl, whatchu want? Go pick it out,” he sings slyly. “My wallet lookin’ bigger than my belly now.”

And for all his talk about pop-star excess, Teddy is a man who makes every cent count. After releasing his timely cover of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On?” in June, he donated all royalties to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. He also pays his crew members a salary, plus bought his Dad a new truck. All of which is to say: he puts his money where his mouth is, and wears his heart on his sleeve. As for what’s next, Teddy’s expanded his family to include folks like Dallas Davidson (Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan), Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, John Prine), and Boy Matthews (Keith Urban, Duke Dumont). And he’s counting down the days until the world is able to hear the wide-ranging sound he’s crafting: “Everything from straight hip-hop to R&B to ’80s metal,” he says. Sure, that doesn’t help us predict what Teddy Swims is going to do next, but if there’s one thing his moniker doesn’t quite convey, it’s that no matter what or how or who he’s singing, Teddy is always Teddy—and bringing all his influences and experiences and inspirations into glorious harmony is exactly what Teddy does best.

Mae Muller – dependent

Mae Muller dropped a brand new music video Wednesday for her song “dependent.”

The new video from the North London-based singer is directed by Sophia Ray, who has worked with artists like Lily Allen, Ty Dolla $ign and Amber Mark. You can see it by clicking right here.

Muller said this is one of her favorite videos she has ever done.

“I loved collaborating with the super talented Sophia Ray and the team that brought the concept of the song to life. The looks, the dancers, everything is on point! I really wanted to do this song justice with a stunning video and feel like we’ve really achieved that,” Muller said.

The song opens her debut EP, which is titled “no one else, not even you,” and it takes a look at the joy of finding love in combination with the fear of losing your individuality. The EP contains eight tracks and showcases Muller’s undeniably fearless and fun style of pop music.

She said she wrote the song at the beginning of a relationship at a time during which she could feel herself falling in love but felt scared at the same time.

“That’s what always happens when I start to fall for someone: instead of going with the flow and just enjoying myself, I start to panic a bit because of the power you have to give up,” she said. “This song is me being totally honest about not wanting to become dependent on someone, because my independence is so important to me.”

The song is co-written by Henrik Michelson of Electric, and it is produced and written with help from Rick Nowels, Jimmy Napes, Skyler Stonestreet and Kenny Beats.

At 23 years old, Muller has already racked up more than 100 million global streams and has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday and Apple Music’s A-List Pop, In My Room, Future Hits and more.

She also sold out a 2020 headline tour of the United Kingdom, proving her ability to build a fan base around the entire world.

Critics and press are also loving Muller.

GQ said, “Mae Muller’s witty and brutally honest lyrics set her apart from her peers.”

Flaunt said, “Mae Muller is your new favorite singerߪHer goal is to be a spokeswoman for this new generation, unveiling layers of authenticity, talent, beauty and confidence.”

Wonderland called her a “clear pop sensation in the making,” while The Guardian said listeners can “expect an abundance of attitude.”
