Bring Me The Horizon x YUNGBLUD

Bring Me The Horizon and YUNGBLUD have teamed up for a brand new song titled “Obey.”

The two British modern rock powerhouses released the song Wednesday, premiering it on Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record’ Radio 1 show.

The song, which is accompanied by a very fitting music video, is about our inability to see control and oppression in society.

Oli Sykes, the front man for Bring Me The Horizon, said, “We consider ourselves free, but only because the chains are invisible, and we are controlled in ways we don’t even want to think about. They tell us how to live with a smile on their face, like s*** ain’t f***** up, inform us of tragic statistics like it’s nothing… it’s a weird world.”

The chorus of the song uses Oli’s voice to convey the words of the powers that be.

“There’s nothing to see here, it’s under control. We’re only gambling with your soul,” Sykes sings.

YUNGBLUD added, “They teach us to turn against each other and to fight against our differences rather than embrace and celebrate them. They try to keep us divided because it makes us weaker. We will rise above the hate and the diversion. We will fight for the world we want to be a part of.  We will not obey.”

YUNGBLUD’s thoughts seem to perfectly convey the idea of the music video.

We see Sykes and YUNGBLUD in the control chair of giant robots, walking through the city. When they finally meet, their first instinct is to fight. They’re so similar, yet they believe there can be only one giant, man-controlled robot.

By the end of the video, they see through their reasons to fight, just as YUNGBLUD prophesied.

Bring Me The Horizon wrote the song with additional production from Mick Gordon. It is the third song from the first EP in a series they are calling “Posthuman.”

After directly addressing criticisms for songs that “ain’t heavy metal” on their 2019 album “amo,” they seem to be rocking as hard as ever.

Lola Young Shares Official Woman Video

Today, Lola Young released the official video for “Woman.” Directed by Olivia Rose (Jorja Smith, 6lack ft. Future, Skepta and Ty Dolla $ign ft. J Cole), the clip features Young and a cast of women, identifiably different in their features but united by their confidence, as they boldly reclaim the female form.

Young also shared a statement about what the video means to her:

“I wanted to make this video because I believe women are all undeniably strong, sexy, free, brave, vulnerable, raw and powerful. And that we do not have to hide away. We do not have to remain unseen, our bodies should never be sexualized or a taboo conversation, or only seen through the male gaze. We have the ability to normalize our bodies being on show, and accept them for their differences, as it’s important to remember those differences are currently often shamed.

I came up with the idea of the women in the video being fully nude. The energy on set was insane, I have never felt more empowered in my life. Nipples, bums, rolls, stretch marks, cellulite, all of these things are beautiful along with the perfect body.

This is my personal experience of being a woman, hopefully other women will have their own take on what it means to them.”

“Woman,” which received its first U.K. play on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, comes on the heels of the 19-year-old artist’s Renaissance EP. Co-produced by GRAMMY winner Paul Epworth (Adele, Mumford & Sons) and manuka, “Woman” is available for download/streaming HERE.

Billboard praised the velvet-voiced Lola Young and Clash Magazine hailed her music as touching [and] honest. Q Magazine observed, “Young’s songs bring her open-hearted lyricism and London Twang together with a neo-jazz sensibility with one foot always pointed in the direction of the nearest dancefloor.” Dummy said, “Lola Young has the most powerful and affecting voice we’ve heard in some time. The young singer is gaining ground fast.” Hunger Magazine noted, “The singer-songwriter has her own, uniquely raw take on music.”

With a gift for writing songs that encapsulate and explore the human condition, Young turns extremely personal emotions into songs that resonate with universal truths. As a lyricist, she creates evocative scenes with all the tenderness and sensitivity of a folk artist, while maintaining the sharpness, wit, and attitude of a rapper. She began writing music at age 11. Young is a recent graduate of the Brit School, whose alumni include Amy Winehouse, Adele, Freya Ridings, FKA Twigs, Jade Bird, Jessie J, Leona Lewis, Loyle Carner, and Rex Orange County.

Lola Young – Woman

Today, Capitol Records released “Woman,” Lola Young’s ode to women everywhere. The song – which received its first U.K. play on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show – is about female empowerment and also examines the struggles and hardships women face as a result of sexism and entrenched stereotypical roles. Coming on the heels of the 19-year-old artist’s Renaissance EP, “Woman” is another beautiful performance from Young, with the nature of the song bringing out a side to her that has yet to be seen. Co-produced by GRAMMY winner Paul Epworth (Adele, Mumford & Sons) and manuka, “Woman” is available for download/streaming HERE.

“‘Woman’ is a song about female empowerment,” explains Lola Young. “It’s a song about how I feel towards the patriarchy but also an introspective piece that looks at the gender roles and how these can be broken down. This song means a lot to me because it’s something I had never previously written about and it has an honest vulnerability to it that I hope makes people feel an understanding towards us women.”

Billboard praised the “velvet-voiced Lola Young” and Clash Magazine hailed her music as “touching [and] honest.” Q Magazine observed, “Young’s songs bring her open-hearted lyricism and London Twang together with a neo-jazz sensibility with one foot always pointed in the direction of the nearest dancefloor.” Dummy said, “Lola Young has the most powerful and affecting voice we’ve heard in some time…the young singer is gaining ground fast.” Hunger Magazine noted, “The singer-songwriter has her own, uniquely raw take on music.”

Gorgon City Deliver Video for Latest Single “Go Deep”

Duo To Perform at Chicago’s Mamby On The Beach Festival On June 23

Gorgon City have unveiled the official video for their latest track, “Go Deep,” a rich production which has already received the support of BBC Radio 1′s dance family, including Annie Mac, Pete Tong, and Danny Howard. View “Go Deep” here: Http://po.st/GoDeepV

Directed by London-based duo Melody Maker & Lauren Van Veen, “Go Deep” utilizes the popular filming technique known as “dry for wet” using smoke colored filters and lighting effects to simulate a character being underwater while filming on a dry stage. The technique, which appears in films such as Lord of the Rings, and Guillermo Del Toro‘s The Shape of Water, sees the duo ‘go deep’ to the bottom of the sea, where they perform a passionate choreography routine.

Teaming up with Ghosted and BRIT Award-winning singer/songwriter Kamille on the release, the track follows Gorgon City‘s recent sold out UK and Europe Kingdom tour and has already amassed over 3 million streams since release.

Having established themselves as one of the most in-demand acts around, Gorgon City have enjoyed stellar success over the past 5 years thanks to their unique blend of bass-driven house music and addictive vocals, launching their own club-focused REALM imprint, which housed recent EP Grooves On The Vinyl, “Motorola” and Radio 1 specialist anthem “Primal Call.”

A unique and refreshing collaboration from UK’s music’s most talented and innovative acts, “Go Deep” is set to cause summer shockwaves, and follows on from Gorgon City‘s anthem of the 2017 Ibiza season, “Real Life” with Duke Dumont. “Go Deep” is out now HERE.

MNEK’S SINGLE ‘TOUNGE’

MNEK’S NEW SINGLE, TONGUE IS OUT NOW

23-Year-Old U.K. Artist Has Racked Up A Cumulative One Billion Streams

Across His Own Releases And Numerous Collaborations

MNEK’s new single, Tongue, is now available for download and streaming HERE. Sounding like Bobby Brown’s creative peak reinterpreted through the technicolor glow and wit of Rupaul’s Drag Race Tongue is the mark of MNEK planting his own flag firmly in the sand as an important artist to watch. The track received its world premiere last night on the BBC’s Radio 1 as Annie Macs Hottest Record.

‘Tongue’ is a highly-sexed electronic banger about something really quite sweet, falling in love and being too nervous to say it out loud, said FADER, which premiered the lyric video. View the video HERE. Check out MNEK’S Facebook to see the new 3D interactive model for Tongue; the first one used by a music artist globally on the platform.

The U.K. artist signed his first publishing deal at age 14. At 23, MNEK now has one billion streams to his name, between his early material and wider collaborations. Capitol Records will release his solo debut album later this year.

NPR Music observed, While MNEK’s a triple threat [singer/songwriter/producer], it’s his voice that locks you in Never Forget You, his duet with Zara Larsson, topped Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and has been certified 3x Platinum in the U.S. The list of artists MNEK has written and produced for includes: Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Little Mix, Madonna, Diplo, Rudimental, Julia Michaels and Stormzy to name but a few.
