PRE-ORDER WINGS ON MY SHOES

Hoge will mark the arrival of WINGS ON MY SHOES with a typically busy live schedule, including headline dates and festival appearances getting underway tomorrow, July 15, at Dayton, OH’s Levitt Pavilion and then traveling into the summer. For more ticket information, please visit www.willhoge.com/shows.

WINGS ON MY SHOES marks yet another milestone on Will Hoge‘s two-decade-plus musical journey, an already remarkable career that has seen him logging countless miles on the road and crafting an ongoing body of work that has earned acclaim from media outlets spanning Rolling Stone and American Songwriter to NPR and Forbes, a GRAMMY Award nomination for “Best Country Song” (honoring the Eli Young Band’s chart-topping cover of his “Even If It Breaks Your Heart”), and an intensely loyal worldwide fan following.

Produced by Hoge during a week’s worth of live performances at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios, WINGS ON MY SHOES was preceded earlier this year by the powerful album-closing “Whose God Is This?,” available for streaming and download HERE. The album – which sees Hoge joined by his longtime backing combo, guitarist Thom Donovan, drummer Allen Jones, and bassist Christopher Griffiths, with guest multi-instrumentalist Joshua Grange contributing pedal steel and organ – features few overdubs and zero studio trickery, wearing its rough edges with pride to stand tall as a document of a hardscrabble band at work, sweating and stomping its way toward rock ‘n’ roll redemption.

Written largely during the pandemic era, WINGS ON MY SHOES is, at its core, a testament to Hoge‘s renowned gifts as a songwriter, highlighting the diverse perspectives of an expert craftsman whose songs turn Southern storytelling into universal sentiment. From the jubilant jangle of “It’s Just You” and the furious “All I Can Take” – the latter an inspired blast of bar band bombast recorded in a single take – to the stunning, string-laced “The Last One To Go” and the desperate narrative drive of “Dead Man’s Hand,” Hoge distills American roots music to its essential ingredients, carrying the torch for an enduring blue collar sound rooted in ringing guitars, anthemic songcraft, and steadfast lyrical integrity.

I always want to embrace change,Hoge says, “to accept new things artistically, but at the end of the day, I can try to run from this idea that I love good, guitar-based rock ‘n’ roll music or I can wear that badge of honor. I’m in the -wearing the badge of honor- phase now.

Jake Scott – Green Eyes

Pop singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jake Scott has released his new song, Green Eyes.” Co-written and co-produced by Scott and Josh Kerr (Kelsea Ballerini, Keith Urban, Camila Cabello), the melodic track blends stripped-down guitars with Scott’s heartfelt vocals. In true Jake Scott fashion, the offering chronicles his love story with his wife Rachel, illustrated by vivid and honest lyricism. “Green Eyes” is out today on all streaming services, with a companion lyric video available to watch HERE.

“‘Green Eyes’ is about that first spark, that moment of connection with someone new. It makes the simple sacred and if youߣre lucky, becomes the start of a story youߣll tell forever,” said Scott.

In March, Scott made his national television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Showperforming his anthemic, anecdotal track “Texas Girl.” Scott hails from Arkansas a state that rivals Texas and ended up falling for his wife a Dallas native regardless. At the top of the year, he also sold out every date on his first ever North American headline tour. Additionally, Scott’s 2021 collaboration with multi-platinum country star Russell Dickerson She Likes It” is now RIAA Certified Gold and has amassed nearly 100M total global streams. The song is currently #38 on the Mediabase Country chart, and #35 on Billboard Country Airplay as well. Along with being a featured artist on the track, Scott also co-penned the song with Dickerson, underscoring his prowess as a songwriter.

Scott is currently on the road supporting Ben Rector on tour, which hits Houston, TX at 713 Music Hall this evening. The full itinerary of dates can be found below, with all tickets available HERE.

Named one of People Magazine’s “Emerging Artists” to watch, Scott is currently in the studio working on his first full-length project with Elektra Records. Stay tuned for more to come, including more live shows this year.

O’MY’S AND ALEX BANIN RELEASE NEW SINGLE

The O’My’s have linked up with Alex Banin for a raw, undeniable sound unique to the iconic cultural hub in all its beauty. With the assist from Banin, singer-guitarist Maceo Vidal-Haymes and multi-instrumentalist Nick Hennessey grapple with close relationships and learn to let go on the soulful new singleRealistic, out now via ADA / Warner Music Group.

Written within a period of isolation during the pandemic, “Realistic” is about personal growth stemming from deep and necessary introspection. Opening with gentle vocals from the crooners and soft descending chords on guitar, the song possesses an intimate and impactful sound that’s sure to resonate with anyone at odds with a past lover or friend. “Without you I’ve been changing,” they harmonize, “I’m better off without you.” It’s a blunt statement enveloped with endearing horns which offer both a sense of acceptance and comfort to listeners.

Nick Hennessey elaborates on the track, “Our session with Alex Banin was one of, if not the last, we had before the pandemic put a pause on all in person collaborations. It was our first time ever working together and the ideas started rolling in right off the jump. By the end of that evening we had most of the lyrics and chord structure all figured out and recorded. Over the next couple months Maceo and I continued to fill out the production and arrangement and tapped in Alfonzo Jones for drums and JP Floyd for trombone. I love the way this song grabs the listener from the first words and then takes them on an sonic and emotional journey.”

The new single follows their first release of 2021, fittingly entitled Lonely. The warm falsetto sung by Vidal-Haymes glides over a rich drum groove as tasteful brass instruments garnish the essence of the song. All these textures come together impeccably to embolden the duo’s message of community and compassion as Vidal-Haymes sings on the bridge, “You make me better than I ever was without you.” Vidal-Haymes states, “Lonely is not simply a love song but an affirmation of the healing and transformative power of relationships and love. During the pandemic we learned to depend on and make space for ourselves. The isolation allowed for us  to take away distractions and hone in on our intentions and identity. By that same token, the pandemic’s isolation forced us to not only reflect on ourselves but also on those people in our lives that bring us love, strength and compassion.” He adds, “We hope listeners take away the understanding that we cannot make it in this world alone. The work of living a good life starts within but needs companionship and community to flourish.”

The new era of music first came to fruition in 2020. They would then spend the next year creating multiple productions for the song and with each rewrite Vidal-Haymes and Hennessey pushed their boundaries to the next level. Surviving through the pandemic with the power of music, the two challenged themselves with unfiltered artistic expressions that served as a savior. Vidal-Haymes says their new music “incorporates what we have learned as growing producers, writers, and men but at its core it’s what has always made The O’My’s.”

Their forthcoming project promises to reach new heights in light of the trials and tribulations throughout the last two years, bringing forward their refined sound of evocative soul music.

“A duo that resists genre, that can’t be easily defined…”  — CHICAGO TRIBUNE

“…a wholly original sound of gently thumping grooves, falsetto vocals, and an engagingly minimal aesthetic.— EARMILK

“…soulful…” — THE FADER

“The O’My’s’ serene and sticky sound is built around Vidal-Haymes’ falsetto vocals, which have drawn comparisons to everyone from Curtis Mayfield to TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, and Hennessey’s tender keyboard / synth melodies.” — ROLLING STONE

About The O’My’s:

Channeling their experiences and perspective into soulful music, The O’My’s grabs listeners from the very first note. Made up of vocalist-guitarist Maceo Vidal-Haymes and classically trained instrumentalist Nick Hennessey, they have etched themselves into Chicago’s music scene through consistency and collaboration. Together they produce a rich tapestry of sound, pulling from a wide range of genres, decades and emotions, and have additionally linked up with a wealth of notable talent including Chance the Rapper, Noname, Saba, Ab-Soul, Pink Siifu, ZZ Ward, and Carter Lang (Omar Apollo, SZA).

Their 2018 full length album Tomorrow was formative to their launch and 2019’s EP Above Ground saw the band expanding on the sonics explored in its precursor. Ten years and tens of millions of streams later, The O’My’s have honed their one-of-a-kind sound while cultivating an impassioned fanbase and positive praise from media critics. To date, they’ve secured coverage from the likes of Billboard, Chicago Reader, Chicago Tribune, Complex, The FADER, Highsnobiety, Pitchfork, among others, and Rolling Stone dubbed them the ‘Artist[s] You Need To Know.’

On the new music, Vidal-Haymes states, “In this new chapter we have pushed ourselves and our sound. We opened and built our first studio which has allowed us the time and space to experiment, learn and reflect. These songs and the songs to come are born from this growth and ever expanding world. We are not an island unto ourselves. We are connected. Humanity as we know it is based on connection and communication and on this project we’ll examine just that.”

Carter Ace – The One and Lonely

CARTER ACE RELEASES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO THE ONE AND LONELY

His inclusion of varying genres like old school jams and G-funk into his inventive music combined with the therapeutic nature of his lyrics give listeners a personable feeling that leaves listeners craving more  – Flaunt

…clearly genius to be found within the madness… – British GQ

The first thing I thought when I heard [Carter Ace] was, ‘He sounds like a combination of Anderson Paak and Pharell,’ and then [I realized] that he could even be better than both of them put together. – Magnetic Magazine

Posting up 10 million-plus streams and receiving acclaim from GQ, Flaunt, and more, Cameroonian American singer, songwriter, and rapper Carter Ace releases his brand new single and video The One and Lonely today via Let’s Get It Records/Republic Records.

Listen to The One and Lonely HERE

Watch The One and Lonely HERE

Produced by Kieran Watters [Dizzy Fae, Tinashe], the track captures the punchy power of Carter’s idiosyncratic style. He intensely freestyles over otherworldly keys and psychedelic-spiked riffs courtesy of his guitarist Fahem Erfan and keyboardist John Redwood. The momentum just never relents. The surreal accompanying visual pairs seventies-style vibes with high-octane imagery of Carter wilding out in a dress shirt about 12 sizes too big, staring down paparazzi, and running through the desert. It seamlessly bottles the uncontainable energy of The One and Lonely.

This track is about creating art in the void of loneliness, intensified during the last year with the forced isolation of the pandemic and navigating my growing success. In this void, the pressure to create has turned into a distracting white noise as I recognize that I am truly ‘the One and Lonely.’ As the track morphs static noise into inspirational melodies, I realize I don’t know my purpose, so I might as well enjoy the ride, says Carter Ace on the track.

Rising up out of the San Fernando Valley, Carter Ace initially incited waves through the culture with If It Don’t Work in 2017. A year later, he served up I Think I’m Normal with production by Isom Innis of Foster The People. It notably eclipsed 3.4 million Spotify streams as he buzzed to the forefront of the conversation with features in GQ and Flaunt. Joe Jonas heard his music and immediately reached out, signing him to Let’s Get It Records in conjunction with Republic Records.

Now, Carter formally introduces himself with much more music to come. Get ready!

About Carter Ace

For as much as Carter Ace’s music may draw on international inspiration, the execution of his genre-agnostic alchemy remains damn near intergalactic. The Cameroonian American singer, songwriter, rapper, and artist seamlessly integrates otherworldly R&B, hard-hitting hip-hop, neo-soul drip, space funk, and even a little punk straight from the San Fernando Valley into a simmering signature style cooked up by his equally badass live band. Born in Los Angeles, he split his childhood between the United States and West Africa. With dad an artist and mom a dancer in his band, music surrounded Carter. During middle school in the Valley, he started to perform anywhere and everywhere with a stage, cutting his teeth at all-age venues, restaurants, and underground gigs. At the same time, he studied the likes of OutKast, Kanye West, and D’Angelo. Along the way, he assembled a group of likeminded players (who are with him to this day), including guitarist Fahem Erfan, keyboardist John Redwood, drummer Gio Alford, and bassist Daniel Durant. Grinding nonstop, he started to put up numbers on singles such as If It Don’t Work, I Think I’m Normal, and Come Back 2 Me, landing a deal with Joe Jonas’s Let’s Get It Records and Republic Records during 2020. After generating 10 million streams independently and earning looks from GQ, Flaunt, and more, this buzzing iconoclast continues to bust every sonic border on a series of 2021 singles led by The One and Lonely.

Shintaro Sakamoto – Obscure Nightclub

JAPANESE SONGWRITING LEGEND SHINTARO SAKAMOTO SHARES VIDEO FOR OBSCURE NIGHTCLUB, THE FEELING OF LOVE EP OUT JULY 17, 2021 VIA ZELONE RECORDS, 12″ VINYL RELEASE TO BE RELEASED AS OFFICIAL RECORD STORE DAY DROP

Praise for Shintaro Sakamoto

Sakamoto’s mission is an expressive palette he has carefully made for himself with a ship-in-a-bottle-like focus. – Pitchfork

[How To Live With A Phantom’s] glimmering alloy of post-hippie global pop, soft-rock, lite-funk, Tropicalia, feels both meticulous and sly, vaguely evoking similar efforts by Beck. – The New York TImes

By deliberately amplifying the foreign strangeness that composers built into easy-listening exotica and that dilettantish listeners imposed on bossa nova and Latin jazz, the Japanese musician Shintaro Sakamoto seems to ask, ‘What if this alien music were made by actual aliens?’ – SPIN Magazine

Japanese psychedelic rock legend Shintaro Sakamoto is proud to share the official video for Obscure Nightclub from the new The Feeling Of Love EP, due July 17, 2021 via his own Zelone Records. Watch the video HERE, listen to the title track HERE, and look out for the EP’s vinyl release as a Record Store Day 2021 Drop this weekend. View the list of participating Record Store Day stores HERE.

The video was directed by Kensuke Ide, also a musician himself. Both this video and the next one (to be released soon) were shot on Super 8mm film by the director. Obscure Nightclub is a song depicting an image of Sakamoto gazing at the lost visions of the nightlife. The textures of Ideߣs 8mm film perfectly illustrate the character of the songs made during the pandemic.

The four-track EP features the laid-back style for which Sakamoto’s solo material has become known, but as always, the songs bear the marks of restless experimentation. The title track features characteristic elements like steel guitar and heavily-effected vocals, while Obscure Nightclub is a ballad enveloped in a catchy flute melody. By Swallow Season opens the B-side with its mid-tempo jazzy boogie, accompanied by wah-wah guitar and saxophone. The EP ends with Don’t Tinker With History, a funky number complete with a James Brown-worthy guitar riff.

OSCAR LANG – 21ST CENTURY HOBBY

Oscar Lang Shares Video For 21st Century Hobby, debut album Chew The Scenery Out August 13 on Dirty Hit

“Oscar Lang’s lo-fi pop tunes will worm their way into your brain and take up residence for the foreseeable future” – The Fader

“Much-needed sonic sunshine” – Notion

“Oscar Lang is the nonchalant guitar nerd about to conduct a quiet coup of bedroom pop” – The Line of Best Fit

“Oscar Lang may just be the sound of the summer we are all hoping to have” – Clash

“Ethereal sunshine pop” – The Guardian

Fast-rising London based artist and multi-instrumentalist Oscar Lang has released the video for his latest single, 21st Century Hobby, off his debut album Chew The Sceneryout August 13 on Dirty Hit. The video sees Lang surrounded by a mirage of the elements and advertisements that inundate you on social media and the toxic effects it creates. 21st Century Hobby is currently featured on a variety of top playlists including Spotify’s All New Indie, The Indie List, and Today’s Indie Rock as well as Apple Music’s New Music Daily and New In Alternative.

21st Century Hobby is a tune based on the idea of society’s obsession with sharing your life online and comparing yourself to other people,” Lang shares. “There was one point where I was spending 13 hours a week on social media, which equated to about a month every year. That was a really dark time for me – I always thought that it would never affect me, but it took some time to realize that it was subconsciously affecting my mental health.”

21st Century Hobby joins Stuck, which was written to capture the emotions and complicated feelings that are often attached to the embarrassing situations we replay in our minds, and Are You Happy?, written about a friend having a really hard timein building on the cohesive blueprint of Lang’s debut album. Chew The Scenery is his most ambitious release to date, which spans topics such as growing pains, love, romance, friendships and the pitfalls of social media on our collective mental health.

All three singles demonstrate Lang’s versatility and growth as a songwriter, highlighting Chew The Scenery’s scuzzy indie rock dynamics, psychedelic flourishes, and orchestral grandiosity. “Over the past two years the sound of my music has changed a lot, from bedroom pop to rock” Lang explains. “We recorded the album over a month up in Liverpool. It was a nice break away from the tedious lockdown in the UK as I got to spend a month away with my mates doing what I love. I think you can hear that built-up boredom being released on the record.

Chew The Scenery furthers Lang’s rise following a momentous 2020 for Lang which yielded the release of three EPs, Antidote to Being BoredHand Over Your Head and Overthunk. Lang’s Apple Juice has been featured in EA Sports game FIFA 2021 while She Likes Another Boy has found an audience on TikTok – the platform where coffee, the track Lang produced for beabadoobee, has found viral legs in Powfu’s death bed (coffee for your head), which has collected over 998 million streams on Spotify alone. Along the way, Lang has also gathered praise from SPINOnes To Watch, All Things Go, BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Annie Mac, and Huw Stephens, The FADERThe Line Of Best Fit, NME, CLASH, The Guardian, The Sunday Times and others.

JORDAN MCGRAW – SHE

JORDAN MCGRAW RELEASES NEW SINGLE SHE, DEBUT EP COMING SOON

Emerging as one of the year’s boldest breakthrough talents, pop singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Jordan McGraw shares a new single entitled SHE.

SHE stands out as yet another head-nodding bop from Jordan. Funkified guitar weaves in and out of a slick beat as his voice flutters from hypnotic verses into an unshakable and undeniable hook rife with high-register flare. Painting a vivid picture, he sings, “She likes to talk in her sleep. A simple conversation turning into a scene. She likes to fight in her sleep. An irrational account of an encounter with me.

His most recent single HER has already racked up over half-a-million cumulative streams and counting. Right out of the gate, E! Online praised it as “ripe for dancing,” while American Songwriter touted its “refined glimmers of far-reaching sonic approaches that coalesce into a universally resonant song story. The Honey Pop hailed it as “an absolute earworm!” Alfitude summed it up best as an “infectiously catchy slice of funky retro-pop that will stay in your head all day.” Not to mention, he spoke to French Fries Magazine about its composition.

Everything paves the way for his first EP—coming very soon. He’s bringing the funk back to pop in 2021!

Making headlines, Jordan also took the stage for a showstopping performance of HER on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He also sat down with Corden for an interview. Jordan also recently played an MTV IG TV Jam Session.

The Texas-born and Los Angeles-based pop maverick strikes a singular balance between eighties synth-craft and 21st century unpredictability, yielding a bop suited to any era.

“I’m a nineties kid making eighties music in 2021,” he affirms. “All of my favorite things are from the nineties. At the same time, the eighties were so absurd and overly polished that they were still cool,” he says.  “During the process of recording the song, I was chasing my now-wife,” he explains. “While I was on tour, I was trying to figure out how to woo her. It was the perfect storm of the song growing with the actual process of she and I growing into what we are now. Everything worked out naturally.”

Jordan McGraw established himself as an outlier right out of the gate. He went from touring with iconic pop punk bands to generating millions of streams and supporting Jonas Brothers on the record-breaking HAPPINESS BEGINS Tour. Signed to Let’s Get It Records! by Joe Jonas, he arrives with more music in 2021 as he prepares his debut EP for release soon.

ABOUT JORDAN MCGRAW
If your favorite nineties-born pop rocker took a time machine to 1983 and brought synths with him back to the twenty-twenties, what would it sound like?

Enter Jordan McGraw. He takes familiar sounds and turns them into fresh feels, presenting his own “Modern Day Nostalgia. In essence, he not only blends genres, but he also fuses eras, serving up future-facing pop with unassuming rockstar ambition sharpened by a punk edge. Following a move from his native Texas to Los Angeles, his high school band packed The Roxy on the Sunset Strip. Eventually, he wound up in City (Comma) State and hit the road on a 2010 sold-out tour with multiplatinum pop punk institution All Time Low. During 2012, he launched Stars In Stereo, releasing two albums with the group and supporting genre favorites such as The Used on tour. After fronting Hundred Handed, he kicked off his solo career in 2018. He linked up with hip-hop legend T-Pain for a Remix of his buzzy solo single FLEXIBLE, while he penned We Should Still Be Friends from his 2019 self-titled EP with Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low. During 2019, Jonas Brothers personally invited him to open up their historic HAPPINESS BEGINS Tour in arenas nationwide, and Joe Jonas signed him to Let’s Get It Records. After generating millions of streams independently and crisscrossing the country on tour with Jonas Brothers and Bebe Rexha, he reintroduces himself on a series of singles for Let’s Get It Records/Republic Records led by HER.

Christian French – Avalanche

CHRISTIAN FRENCH RELEASES AVALANCHE ALONG WITH THE MUSIC VIDEO

24-year-old pop singer-songwriter Christian French releases his new track Avalanche along with the music video via Disruptor Records/RCA Records. The video, which is directed by Olivia Shapiro, is Christian’s first taste of new music in 2021. Watch HERE.

Christian has spent his career centering his music on the hardships of anxiety and trying to rationalize its impact on mental health through an optimistic filter. But during the pandemic, he found himself stuck: he was struggling with his songwriting prowess, unsure of how to mine inspiration from his experiences in life at a time when quarantine limited the opportunities at hand.

For Christian, most of that soul-searching came from the demise of a three-year relationship which jostled the foundation of his approach to writing music. Avalanche is a byproduct of Christian reflecting on all his past relationships. It pivots from the introspection of prior releases to an interrogation of what exactly waters the seed of romantic doubt. It is a brisk pop song that gallops with passion, contrasting the sober realization that the time has come to move on from his partner. He worked with songwriters Jacob Kasher (Charlie Puth, Selena Gomez) and Jake Torrey (Justin Bieber), as well as producers Andy Seltzer (Maggie Rogers), Pink Slip and inverness.

Christian French says, I’ve found that in every relationship I’ve been in, there always comes this initial thought of me wondering what life would be like without this person, where I start to fantasize a better life on my own.  This thought starts out so innocent, but over time, the more I give that thought attention, the more and more it snowballs into what I actually want.  One simple thought grew into an avalanche.

About Christian French

Christian French, 24-year-old Indiana native has become one of America’s fastest-rising indie-pop stars. He learned to play piano by watching YouTube instructionals and started posting covers online, but it wasn’t until college that writing original music became a reality. He soon chased his dreams to Los Angeles. It was there in 2017, while sleeping on friends’ couches, that he penned his first single, love ride, which has amassed over 33 million streams globally and helped him build a rabid fanbase, setting the tone for his bright future. Just a year later, Christian joined friend and fellow pop artist Chelsea Cutler on a nationwide, sold-out North American tour followed by another, even bigger tour with Quinn XCII. He introduced a crisp, guitar-plucked sound with the independent release of 2018’s debut natural colors EP, which has racked up more than 76 million Spotify listens to date, and chased it with 2019’s breakthrough bright side of the moon, a six-track manifestation of his ruminations on mental health matched with tales of romance. bright side of the moon featured Christians hit track head first, which has amassed over 97 million streams worldwide. He followed this up by embarking on his debut headlining tour. In fall 2020, Christian released his third EP good things take time which embodied a more confident sound that straddled pop and rock without losing the clarity of its predecessor. The tracks featured on the EP received praise from TIME Magazine, Billboard, Ones To Watch, BELLO Mag, American Songwriter, and CelebMix. Additionally, Christian will be playing at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL on Thursday, July 29th.
