RENCE — “AWOOO!”

“Rence is in his own lane, defying the stigma that an artist has to be bound by any one genre.” – FLAUNT

“In a way that few artists can, Rence has redefined his sound with every new release.” – ONES TO WATCH

“Rence is one of the most promising vocalists in the music industry right now.” – LYRICAL LEMONADE

Critically acclaimed, buzzing singer, songwriter and produce Rence is back today with the heartfelt new single “AWOOO!” Get it HERE via Epic Records.

Hopeful and romantic on the surface, the breakout star’s latest release is actually a breakup song, even if not immediately apparent in the lyrics. “I love when you howl at the moon, I wanna lay here watching you,” the 23-year-old coos over dreamy guitars. “Til I’m howling too, like AWOOO!”

“I actually wrote it as a bookend to a relationship,” Rence says. “But it turned into a love song even as a goodbye.” Somber but full of life and color, “AWOOO!” became about the realization that even true love can fade. It covers the kind of complex emotional territory that Rence has tread since bursting onto the pop music scene while still studying at NYU.

“AWOOO!” follows the exuberant anthem “Endless,” which was released at the top of 2021 and showcases his trademark vulnerability and emotional nuance. With more new music on the horizon, he continues to create a kaleidoscopic pop sound, while experimenting with everything from electro to hip hop.

Over the last few years, Rence has established himself as one of pop’s most unguarded young stars. When he isn’t crafting transparently emotional singles like “Strawberry Blonde” and “Type 2,” he’s lifting the veil on his artistic process in a series of TikTok videos. At the same time, the artist/producer has also stayed busy with collaborations, recording music with Sarah Barrios, Alex Port, Chloe Lilac and Johan Lenox. Since debuting, Rence has amassed more than 50 million cumulative streams and continues to expand his fan base with each release. “AWOOO!” further builds out the emotional complexity and intricate instrumentals at the core of his songs, reminding listeners that there are poignant messages behind every infectious melody.

ABOUT RENCE:

Sharing real life snapshots in song, Rence magnifies his personal perspective through a genre-less palette, bordering pop, alternative, electro, indie and hip-hop all at once, yet never dipping into one for too long. He first introduced himself on the breakthrough independent project, Pink, featuring standout single “Baby Blue.” In 2019, after signing to Epic Records, he followed with the release of “Expensive” [feat. Noah Cyrus] and his major label debut EP, FALL 2019. Over the last year, his consistent output continued with the bold and buzz-y “hate u, btw,” “Type 2,” “Tears in December,” “Sometimes Things Just Fall Apart,” “Strawberry Blonde” and “Endless.” With over 50 million streams and counting, Rence has received acclaim from the likes of Pigeons and Planes (who named him “Best New Artist” Dec 2019), The FADER, Lyrical Lemonade, Nylon, Billboard, V Magazine, Paper, i-D, Wonderland, Flaunt and Zane Lowe.

Culture Wars – teche

Austin, TX trio Culture Wars share the release of their debut EP, teche, along with their latest single “Lose Money” from the EP.  The band, Alex Dugan, David Grayson, and Dillion Randolph have amassed over 7 million streams independently, inciting a flurry of activity on TikTok charting a top 30 on Alternative radio.

The band shares about the track, “’Lose Money’ is one of those songs that could have easily not have happened. After I tracked a handful of vocal ideas at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, it took our producer Caleb and bandmate David to point out the chorus section, otherwise, I would have completely missed it. Thanks to them, and some insane prophet sounds from Dillon afterwards, Lose Money came to life. A testament to the strength of working as a team, this song stands out as one of my all time favorites.”

Earlier this year, Culture Wars released the single “Hunger,” a twist and turn of warbling bass, shimmering synths, and a hypnotic high register hook before dissolving into a cathartic drum and key freak-out punctuated by otherworldly guitar. “I was at a weird place in my life,” Alex Dugan admits. “For me, it was a release of energy. Retrospectively ‘Hunger’ could be about distancing yourself from emotion in a relationship where you’ve had to disassociate due to dysfunction.”

Inspired by seeing New Order live in Houston, the band recorded a series of demos in 2016. Those demos eventually morphed into Culture Wars‘ self-titled 2017 debut EP. The lead single “Lies” eclipsed 2.2 million Spotify streams followed by “Bones” peaking at #43 on Alternative radio. In 2019, they retreated to the famed Sonic Ranch Recording Studio in Tornillo, TX, which sits on a massive pecan farm thirty minutes outside of El Paso directly on the Mexican border. Over the course of “drunk summer camp, as Alex describes it, they brought teche to life with producer Caleb Contreras. The isolation, yet intimacy of the locale seeped into the push-and-pull of the music. They recruited ten-time GRAMMY Award winner Manny Marroquin [Kanye West, Imagine Dragons] for mixing and put the finishing touches on the EP just as the Global Pandemic set in. Throughout the next year, they teased out teche.  “Faith,” which Alex describes as “a rock song, an electronic song, and country song, hinted at the scope of the project. Meanwhile, “Leave Me Alone” quickly approached 1 million Spotify streams as it generated a flurry of activity on TikTok fueled by videos from mega-influencers such as Bella Poarch, Nessa Barrett, and Sienna Mae. Not to mention, it landed on the GRAMMY Award-nominated Bill & Ted Face The Music Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and ascended into the Top 30 at Alternative Radio.

Alan Walker – The Aviation Movie

Billboard Music Awards nominee and diamond selling DJ/producer Alan Walker announces the release of his in-concert film The Aviation Movie on YouTube. The unique five part series, which took almost two years to create, combines footage from the Oslo Spektrum stop on Walker’s Aviation Tour and a narrative arc from the Walker cinematic universe.

Woven in between the tracks and concert footage is a dynamic storyline from the World of Walker: after an apocalyptic event, a young woman, armed only with the AW logo, is on a journey to save the world. Along the way, she learns new skills and ultimately rebuilds society with the help of the like-minded Walker community. The film also features appearances by Walker’s collaborators Steve Aoki, Au/Ra, Isak, Iselin Solheim, Juliander, Julie Bergan, Omar Noir, Sophia Somajo, Tomine Harket, and Torine.

Walker also released The Aviation Game, an arcade-style iOS & Android mobile game developed by award winning indie studio Hello There Games. The game’s action, steering a drone through a challenging obstacle course, is directly derived from the plot of The Aviation Movie

Alan Walker explains: “Live music has obviously been on hold throughout the pandemic, and I know that I’m not the only one who misses the magic of concerts. My hope for fans who watch The Aviation Movie is for them to experience that special feeling once again and to look forward to the day when we can connect in person.”

About Alan Walker

Since the 2018 release of his debut album, Different World, containing global sensation singles like the diamond selling “Faded,” “Alone,” and “All Falls Down,” Alan Walker has played over 600 headline festival and arena shows, picked up two Norwegian Grammy wins, and earned a Billboard Music Awards nomination. Walker is the 9th most followed artist on YouTube and the 20th most followed artist on Spotify, which displays the strength of his fanbase.

Walker holds over 120 million followers and 50 billion audio and video streams to his name,  has previously teamed up with massive hit makers such as Ava Max, Noah Cyrus, and A$AP Rocky, and has produced remixes for internationally renowned artists such as Sia, Coldplay, Kygo, Bruno Mars, and Julia Michaels.

Culture Wars – Hunger

Austin, TX trio Culture Wars announced the release of a new song, “Hunger,” from their upcoming EP teche which will be released later this year. The band, Alex Dugan, David Grayson, and Dillion Randolph have amassed over 7 million streams independently, inciting a flurry of activity on TikTok charting a top 30 on Alternative radio.

“Hunger” twists and turns through warbling bass, shimmering synths, and a hypnotic high register hook before dissolving into a cathartic drum and key freak-out punctuated by otherworldly guitar. It’s a surreal yet nevertheless satisfying track. “I was at a weird place in my life,” Alex Dugan admits. “For me, it was a release of energy. Retrospectively, ‘Hunger’ could be about distancing yourself from emotion in a relationship where you’ve had to disassociate due to dysfunction.”

Inspired by seeing New Order live in Houston, the band recorded a series of demos in 2016. Those demos eventually morphed into Culture Wars‘ self-titled 2017 debut EP. REZZ × GRABBITZ – Someone Else

Today, REZZ and Grabbitz release the Malaa Remix for their track “Someone Else” via RCA Records. This is the first ever official remix of a REZZ track. The original track was released in April and has garnered over 8.7 million video and audio streams worldwide and has reached #15 on Alt Radio in the US and #2 in Canada. Billboard called REZZ and Grabbitz coming together “a match made in electronic heaven.”

Last week, REZZ received The JUNO Award for Electronic Album of the Year for her work on Beyond The Senses which was her first independent project released in 2019.

25-year-old Canadian DJ/producer Isabelle Rezazadeh AKA REZZ has racked up tens of millions of streams, sold out legendary venues and headlined top festivals around the world. She oozes originality and produces genre-bending electronic works, striking a sharp balance between bass-heavy and minimal tech compositions. Her first independent project- the adventurous Beyond The Senses EP – was released in 2019 and received praise from Alternative Press, SPIN and Billboard who called it “her most impactful project to date.” She graced the cover of Billboard’s 2019 Dance Issue and has been attributed as being at the forefront of the dance and rock music crossover. Already, 2020 has marked a banner year for the producer who released her first single through RCA Records “Someone Else.” Alternative Press praised the song upon its release, including it as the lead track in their weekly playlist. They called the video “another high point in REZZ’s canon,” saying, “…the song evokes a sinister groove that will appeal to dance music devotees as well as industrial rivetheads…”

Praised by the likes of Rolling Stone and Billboard, while notching over 80 million streams to date, Grabbitz has allotted critical praise and adoration from a wide audience alike. He’s shown his voice and music have evolved in real time from his beginnings in dance music, to a more alternative, genre-less hybrid. He has collaborated with heavy hitters like deadmau5, Pendulum, NGHTMRE and now REZZ. Grabbitz is primed to have an unmistakable voice in the electronic world and beyond.

Masked by his iconic balaclava on stage, MALAA’s identity remains unknown. Though with over a dozen singles and EP’s under Tchami’s Confession label, MALAA has made his presence known in the underground dance music community. His work has been recognized and remixed by global artist, Alok, has worked alongside Skrillex and Diplo’s collective, Jack Ü, DJ Snake, and combined forces with Tchami on NO REDEMPTION. MALAA has graced stages across the globe, featuring appearances at Ultra Music Festivals, Lollapalooza, Holy Ship!, Creamfields, Breakaway, HARD Summer Music Festival, Moonrise, Spring Awakening, EDC and more.

NETSKY Releases “I Don’t Even Know You Anymore”

Today, award-winning globally renowned electronic music producer NETSKY releases the brand-new single “I Don’t Even Know You Anymore” ft. Bazzi & Lil Wayne via Republic Records and Casablanca Records.

Listen HERE.

About the release, NETSKY said, “As soon as I heard Bazzi’s topline I knew it was special. We ended up doing a few different versions of the song before we found the production that felt perfect. It turns out it had always been a dream of both of ours to work with Lil Wayne and we couldn’t think of anyone we’d rather have to jump on the track and complete the song. I’m excited for the world to hear what we’ve done together.”

“I Don’t Even Know You Anymore” is the third installment from forthcoming Palmtrees & Powerlines, the two-part project that explores both NETSKY’s magnetic brand of pop music (on Palmtrees) and his genre-bending innovation as a creator of club tracks (on Powerlines).  Each song from Palmtrees & Powerlines will find a place within one of these two worlds NETSKY has built.  “I Don’t Even Know You Anymore” continues to build upon Palmtrees, alongside the previously released “Téquila Limonada” feat. A.CHAL.  While last fall NETSKY released “Ice Cold” with David Guetta, which finds its home in Powerlines.

NETSKY closed out an exciting 2018 by releasing Abbot Kinney EP, which featured five new songs with collaborations from Stargate and 1991, as well as features from KyleToulouse, and Jozzy.

Stay tuned for more to come from Palmtrees & Powerlines.

LEMAITRE’s MACHINE

Norwegian-born, Los Angeles-based electronic duo Lemaitre returns with a new single, « Machine » and an early start on the festival season with performances this weekend at M3F in Phoenix, AZ and CRSSD in San Diego, CA. “Machine” – the duo’s first new offering since 2017’s Chapter One, which featured the hit single « Closer” feat. vocalist Jennie A. blends bright synth lines, jangly guitar riffs, and soaring melody into a sweetly wistful, indie-pop-inspired confection. Relationship issues send the track’s narrator into emotional overload and leave him yearning for a simpler, more mechanical existence. He pleads, “Every time that I try, I shut down/So can you please hit restart?”.

“The basis for the lyrics to the song was this thing my cousin used to say when he was little” notes Ketil Jansen, who founded Lemaitre with fellow producer/songwriter Ulrik Denizou Lund. “Every time he did something he wasn’t allowed to do, like play with matches or whatever, he’d always turn into a machine and walk out of the room all robot-like, saying « I’m a machine, I don’t have any feelings, you can’t yell at me.” It was the perfect defense”

“Machine” is the first in a series of new tracks from Lemaitre. Forthcoming singles “Control” “Little Things” and “Big” are the results of Lemaitre’s collaborations with producers Coucheron, Jerry Folk, Bearson and William Larsen, all of whom are also Norwegian artists living in L.A. The tracks will be released over the course of the year.

In addition to this weekend’s festival performances, the duo will play Sasquatch and numerous other festivals. See below for initial itinerary and follow Lemaitre for further announcements. Known for their incendiary live sets, such as their explosive appearance at Coachella 2016. Lemaitre constantly change up their show to specifically suit each audience and venue, typically bringing in a full band, sometimes with an entire horn section.

Lemaitre’s commitment to upending what’s expected of the musical experience dates back to their earliest days as a duo. After meeting at a party in Oslo and bonding over their love of the Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx, Lund and Jansen started making music as teenagers. In summer 2010, they had a major breakthrough when “The Friendly Sound” – their second-ever release – hit No. 1 on Hype Machine overnight. In early 2012, Lemaitre released the first EP in their Relativity series. Relativity 2 followed in May 2012 and reached No. 1 on the iTunes Electronic chart in the U.S. and Canada. Soon after their song “1:18” was used as in a 2014 ad for the Apple iPhone 5C, Lemaitre signed to Astralwerks and made the move to L.A.

Streams of the hit single “Closer” now exceed 50 million on Spotify. The track was heard in a Google phone commercial and used by Bose in various retail displays while “We Got U” appeared in the FIFA 2017 mobile app trailer. “Higher” featuring Maty Noyes, landed in an Apple Watch ad, was praised by Idolator as “a mind-bending banger”.
