Modelo × Mister Cartoon

Modelo, the beer brewed for those with The Fighting Spirit™, has teamed up with legendary LA-based Mexican American tattoo artist, Mark Machado aka Mister Cartoon, to invite fans around the country to celebrate Día de los Muertos in style.

To honor the tradition of Día de los Muertos, Modelo has launched custom 24 oz. Model Especial and Modelo Negra LTO cans designed by Mister Cartoon himself, evoking classic Día de los Muertos motifs such as skulls and marigolds, alongside an exclusive line of Día merchandise featuring Cartoon’s art that fans can claim starting on October 25th through the holiday season.

Mister Cartoon offered an exclusive interview with Javier Pedroza to explain the process of his partnership and to talk about heritage.

MODELO®

Born in 1925 in the small town of Tacuba, Mexico, Modelo has been bringing distinctive high-quality beer to people ever since, including Modelo Especial®, Modelo Negra®, and a flavorful lineup of Modelo Cheladas. Modelo Especial is a golden, full-flavored Pilsner-style Lager with a clean, crisp finish. As the #1 imported beer in the U.S., Modelo Especial recently surpassed 150MM cases sold in 2021. The Modelo family of beers are exclusively brewed, imported and marketed for the U.S. by Constellation Brands.

MISTER CARTOON

Mister Cartoon’s richly detailed, hand-rendered designs are inspired by the style of tattoos that originated in the streets of 1970s’ Los Angeles – fine line Chicano black and grey custom tattoo art. Cartoon took this style of tattooing and brought it into mainstream culture. He is known as a pioneer in the tattoo world, and as one of the first artists to get global notoriety by tattooing celebrities, athletes, musicians, and actors alike.

Plexus Worldwide’s Global Giving Day

Employees, Brand Ambassadors, and Customers volunteered to combat food insecurity on September 22. Plexus Worldwide (Plexus®), a leading direct-selling health and wellness company, motivated people around the world to step up and volunteer during the Plexus Global Giving Day, held on September 22. Brand Ambassadors, Customers, and employees in five countries were encouraged to support local nonprofits that provide assistance to families affected by hunger.

“Plexus cares deeply about children and families in all the communities we serve worldwide, so we mobilized our teams and encouraged our Brand Ambassadors to join forces with customers and serve together as a united community. We are so appreciative to everyone who took time out of their busy day to contribute to those in need. The outpouring of support gives me tremendous pride because it reflects a shared sense of responsibility.” said Tarl Robinson, Plexus CEO and Founder.

In addition, Plexus donated 15,000 USD to food banks in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and the United States where Global Giving Day participants volunteered.  At the corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, over 140 employees, including company leaders and the executive team, packed food boxes and distributed food at St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix.  Collectively, Scottsdale team members volunteered 580 hours to St. Mary’s Food Bank the week of September 20. This annual Week of Service event is something team members look forward to as yet another way to promote a One Plexus spirit.

“In our mission to ignite Hope, Health, and Happiness, we support all efforts to combat food insecurity, so families don’t have to choose between paying the electric bill and putting food on the table,” said Alec Clark, President, and Founder. “Making a difference is ingrained in our culture because we share a commitment to help those in need through financial contributions, volunteer efforts, and in-kind donations to community nonprofits that give families a helping hand during difficult times.”

Plexus encourages a culture of giving, providing 16 hours of paid volunteer time to every team member. But many employees give far more of their time and participate in donation drives that support a variety of nonprofits and community groups. 360 Magazine is proud to be associated with brands that volunteer worldwide to help the community.

Mon Laferte – Amigos Simplemente

Mon Laferte premiered the video for “Amigos Simplemente” today, exclusively through Facebook. It’s a universally relatable love song as Mon sings of that moment when friendship begins to transform, and that simple affection you once felt becomes stronger.

“I want something with you, more than being friends… Let me love you or at least try. It is no coincidence to love you; it is not an accident,” the Chilean artist sings.

The latest single from Mon’s recent album Seis, “Amigos Simplemente” focuses on a young couple who slowly displays to us that there is something more to their relationship than being just simply friends. The premiere of the new video takes place ahead of Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month (LHHM), which is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. Throughout the month, Facebook will highlight stories from diverse artists and personalities from Latino and Hispanic communities that shape the culture of the United States. This year, Mon Laferte is one of the singers honored for her diverse contributions and achievements in America.

SEIS is an intensely personal album inspired by a documentary about Mexican-via Costa Rica singer Chavela Vargas, who is best known for revolutionizing Mexican ranchera music. The songs were born during the global pandemic and heavy isolation, and include carefully crafted lyrics, brought forth from self-reflection, allowing Mon to explore her deepest feelings, leaving nothing but vulnerability at this rare time.

Billboard calls SEIS, “Vulnerable and commanding” and VICE says, “It gives you chills, requiring no knowledge of Spanish to communicate its emotion… a gut-stomping triumph.” BBC Music says, “SEISis her most intimate and courageous yet; tackling complex topics such as misogyny, repression, and injustice, inspired by her lived experiences.”

Tickets are on sale now and a full list of tour dates can be found below.

Paolo Uggetti × ESPN

Paolo Uggetti, one of the nation’s most talented young sports journalists, has joined ESPN as a college football writer.

Uggetti has covered the NBA nationally for The Ringer for the past five years, writing features on everything from Devin Booker’s Mexican heritage to players’ mental health in the bubble, to tracking down the KIA that Blake Griffin dunked over in the 2011 dunk contest.

Uggetti also interned with The Wall Street Journal sports department, where he discovered the kinds of stories he loves to write — niche, sometimes quirky, but always human.

“After working on finding compelling stories in the NBA for a few seasons, I’m really looking forward to diving into the unique culture of college football alongside the team at ESPN,” said Uggetti. “The number of story opportunities in a sport that’s going through so much change is exciting, and I can’t wait to get a chance to tell some of those stories.”

ESPN college football deputy editor Ryan Canner-O’Mealy added: “We couldn’t be more excited to add Paolo to our talented team. His eye for interesting stories and history of in-depth reporting will make for a seamless transition into the world of college football.”

Uggetti is proudly from El Salvador but moved to Los Angeles when he was nine years old, falling in love with other sports besides fútbol. Uggetti is fluent in his native Spanish and graduated from USC in 2017. There, he covered the Trojans football team for two seasons and won two LA Press Club awards for stories he wrote for the student-run online publication.
