Forbes Travel Guide, the world-renowned and only global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas, today announced its annual Star Rating list, presenting The Spa at Four Season Hotel New York Downtown with a new Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Spa award.

Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown, which first received the Forbes Five Star Award in 2018, is once again being celebrated for outstanding service in New York City. Recognised by Forbes Travel Guide for going beyond the Five Star Award, and achieving a total of ten stars across The Spa and the Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is now one of onlythreehotels in New York City that holds this enviable ranking.

Located in the heart of Tribeca, The Spa has been the ultimate urban sanctuary of wellness and pampering since first opening its doors in September 2016. Led by Senior Spa Director Tara Cruz, the Health & Wellness floor features seven treatment rooms, eucalyptus steam room, outdoor terrace, purpose-built Fitness Center and 75 foot (23 metre) indoor heated lap pool. Adored by locals and revered by Hotel guests, The Spa has reached far beyond tradition and has reinvented itself as a renowned healing temple in the bustling city that never sleeps.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be joining such an exclusive group of Five Star Spas in New York City. We have worked extremely hard to curate and cultivate experiences that go far beyond traditional spa treatments, so that we can create an environment that allows our guests to reach new heights of health, wellness and spiritual healing. Much like the colourful city we reside in, we unite influential cultures and remedies from around the world to create a haven of beauty and wellness. The Spa offers an unparalleled level of luxury and pampering in Manhattan and we’re overjoyed that our local community, Hotel guests and residents are embracing it. This award is a testament to our incredible team who work tirelessly to create memorable moments and experiences for our guests,” says Cruz.

From its inception, The Spa has been at the forefront of innovative offerings and elevated treatments.  In 2018, Cruz introduced the Resident Healers Program featuring three dynamic women – Deganit Nuur, Rashia Bell and Snow Shimazu – all internationally recognized leaders in their field. In celebration of International Women’s Day in 2019, Michelle Pirret, International Sonic Alchemist joined the program; with the latest addition, Mama Medicine (Deborah Hanekamp), specialising in a unique health and wellness offering known as Medicine Readings.

In addition to the Resident Healers Program and under the leadership of Tara Cruz, The Spa recently launched Next-Gen Wellness Workshops to cater to the next generation of wellness advocates; a dedicated Aromatherapy Blend Bar and Bespoke Aromatherapy Experience in partnership with leading organic skin-care line Soveral; the Sleep Well, Live Well Experience to aid in achieving the best night’s sleep; an in-room Soak Service Menu offering a multitude of heavenly bath experiences, a partnership with HATCH Mama as the ultimate pre-natal experience for expectant mothers; and the Haute Couture Treatment by Dr Burgener.

In addition to a variety of experiential treatments, The Spa also boasts proud and exclusive partnerships with iconic global skin-care brands including Soveral, Omorovicza and Dr Burgener.

Forbes Travel Guide is recognised for creating the original concept of Five-Star service, and The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is the latest addition to its illustrious annual Star Rating list.

“We have been committed to championing genuine Five-Star service for more than 60 years, and this year’s winners, as always, exemplify the very highest standards in hospitality,” said Filip Boyen, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide. “It is difficult to earn a Forbes Travel Guide rating, and all our Star-Rated winners have shown how incredibly deserving they are of their accolades by demonstrating sheer dedication in their passion for service. We congratulate them all.”

Four Seasons New York Downtown

Redefining Relaxation

By Vaughn Lowery

Every now and again, we all should consume some time out of our hectic lives to enjoy a stay at one of the most sought-after institutions in lower Manhattan – the Four Seasons New York Downtown [FS NY Downtown]. Since its conception three years ago, this micro-resort is poised to be an award-winning campus with offerings geared towards a more youthful clientele.

By far one of the more prestigious properties within the five boroughs, containing 189 rooms and suites. This five-star accommodation is perched in the prominent Tribeca area of downtown NYC within walking distance from an array of activities, including Brookfield Place and the conspicuous West 4th Street. Guest floors are from the 7th to 24th with the lobby, CUT by Wolfgang Puck and meeting suite on the lower levels. The swank, slim facade also incorporates a 157 private residences which are housed between the 38th to 82nd levels.

An architectural digest of diversity with symmetrical designations throughout, celebrating geometrics alongside of high-caliber appointments. It was fabricated and brought to life by design firm Yabu Pushelberg to delight the senses and erupt an emotional connectedness to its surroundings. After all, its parents are known to construct immersive environments where pedestrians can both coexist and congregate. Particular thanks to the warm tones, recessed lighting and Italian marble.

Minutes away from downtown Brooklyn and the newly bustling Jersey City neighborhoods, Four Seasons Downtown is poised to become an influential millennial safe haven for digital nomads and senior level executives alike. Staying true to the Four Seasons marquee, the degree of service coupled with attentive staff is unprecedented. This pet-friendly, modern-lux lodge possesses a 24 hr fitness center, which easily rivals an Equinox facility: kettlebells, free weights, ample high-tech machines, yoga mats, stretching area, foam rollers, group instruction and a Peloton stationary bike.

The day spa area bears Marc Jacobs collaborative merchandise, a 75-foot indoor lap pool (open daily from 6am-9pm with on-duty lifeguard) and steamroom. Within the spa lounges, there’s plenty of toiletries at your disposal for decompression: shaving kit, dental kit, shower shoes, robes, mouthwash, hair gel, deodorant spray, q-tips, disposable combs/brushes and electronic programmable lockers. Complimentary bottles of water are readily available and rose petal hydration facial mist to make you feel even more reinvigorated. And, there’s a plethora of onsite services which are offered from aromatherapy to facials.

The Barclay, Tribeca as well as Hudson suites possesses dual vanities and can hold up to 4 adults with 2 bedrooms, full bath and a half bath/powder room. Some of the suites come equipped with a butler kitchen and patio. If available, the bang for your buck are the executive suites, which contain spacious great rooms; even so, they don’t have a balcony.

With ample views of the One World Trade Center and its Oculus, the Four Seasons New York Downtown is an emerald which is certain to stimulate your heart chakra as well as drizzle positivity onto spirits. GOLD SEASHELL

By Mark Quinn

Quinn states “ ‘The Big Wheel Keeps on Turning’ is the story of the planet and everything that lives on it. It is our lives in time. Like the spiral of a shell, the world is in constant revolution.” He further says “… To me they are actually sculptures of the space-time continuum. By that I mean you have the rings on the outside of the shell, which look and act like the rings of a tree – showing the past of the object – and at the same time, the rings are to me like a map of the turning of the world. Then, on the front surface, you have the highly polished, reflective part, which is of course always in the present moment. This surface is always reflecting the now, and so together the form of the shell is like a found structural diagram of how the present becomes the past.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Marc Quinn is internationally recognized and one of the leading artists of his generation. He is best known for exploring the relationships between art and science, the human body, and perceptions of beauty; elementary questions of the universe relevant to mankind. He rose to prominece in the early 1990s among the Young British Artists (YBAs) who shook up London’s contemporary art scene with their conceptual works. the same time, the rings are to me like a map of the turning of the world.

Then, on the front surface, you have the highly polished, reflective part, which is of course always in the present moment. This surface is always reflecting the now, and so together the form of the shell is like a found structural diagram of how the present becomes the past.” Quinn has exhibited in many important group and solo shows internationally including: the Tate Gallery in London, Fondazione Prada in Milan, Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Musée Oceanographique in Monaco, Multi media Art Museum in Moscow, and The Yorkshire Sculpture Garden in the UK, among many others. This timeless hotel has housed some of the most notable people and presidents, as well as being used as a shooting location for films and television series. The groundbreaking film “Pretty Woman” gave the Beverly Wilshire its most profound feeling of promiscuity and glamour.

The grand hotel of 14 floors includes 395 variety of rooms and 137 suites suited for whatever occasion or stay one is looking for. The rooms, some as casual as the Signature Balcony room or the One-Bedroom Rodeo Suite, is perfect for a getaway weekend with great space and comfort. Bathrooms are notable for the marble floors and adjacent glass showers. The hotel is classified as a wrap around with great panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills and Los Angeles area. Although prices vary from date and size, the typical stay in a one bedroom suite is around one thousand dollars. For a longer stay, there are specialty suites like the Penthouse Suite or Presidential Suite, with a sentiment of royalty that includes multiple bedrooms and extensive dining rooms. Varying on the room, the impressive amenities include a round-the-clock concierge team and in-room dining. Also amenities include overnight shoeshine, complimentary newspaper, and much more. The team at the Beverly Wilshire works extremely hard to make your stay as charming and comfortable as possible.

Aside from the rooms, the hotel itself includes modern centers of activities and on-site restaurants. The chic spa that customers rave about offers every service you can think of like face and body treatments with five star treatments, even those specifically for men and kids. The modern pool is blue and beautiful, and for a bite or a glass of wine by the pool you can eat at “The Pool Bar and Cafe“. Overlooking the pool is the fitness center, to stay in shape and feeling your best, with an assortment of different state of the art machines and private yoga classes.

The onsite sleek restaurants, like the high ranking “CUT” by Wolfgang Puck has amazing reviews and ratings on their unique cuts of beef and seafood prepared in a live open kitchen. Our stay included handcrafted cocktails from the Cut Lounge, our favorites being Johnnie Walker Blue on the rocks and Sloppy Kisses. The “Blvd” inside the hotel is a perfect spot we had for brunch offering an original selection like the divine shrimp cocktail appetizer with Chilean sea bass and short rib patty “Blvd Burger” for lunch. With all the activities and dining, the Beverly Wilshire suits everyone.

As a result of the city’s location in the most glamorous city in the world, it is within an arm’s length of the affluent streets of Rodeo drive. Rodeo Drive is where you can find greatest brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Jimmy Choo. This street also offers the finest dining in the region, whether you are in the mood for Indian cuisine or a fine steak. The Beverly Hills atmosphere, with the Beverly Wilshire in the middle of it all, define what class and beauty look like.

Ranked in the top 10 of Los Angeles hotels, this five-star hotel is known for its excellent customer service at every part of the stay. Ratings from AAA give the hotel 4.8 outstanding diamonds for its customer service, cleanliness, and overall appearance. Travelers speak highly of the modern decoration and style of the rooms, floors, bathrooms, and amenities. Competitors do not come close to the extensive care and allure of what the famous hotel offers. The Beverly Wilshire is not just a hotel, but an enchanting experience for all.
