Supercharge a Kid’s Immune System + Natural Remedy to Kill Coronavirus

With schools closing “indefinitely” and grocery shelves becoming bare, we all are anxious to see how this plays out and when it will be over. As parents we have a responsibility to keep our kids calm about the situation, keep their immune systems strong, and use preventative ways to kill viruses that our kids come in contact with. Karen Barski, 25 year RN; Reiki Master IIII; Wellness Coach; and Holistic Mom, offers 10 under-the-radar ways to supercharge your kid’s immune system and even a holistic remedy that a doctor claims to kill coronavirus and all other viruses. Best part, adults can use these tips too!

“I’m a mother of five and have kept my kids off antibiotics for 8 years using the below immune-boosting practices that quite frankly are still under the radar and not mainstream – but should be. I even shrunk my own adrenal tumor by half using holistic remedies leaving my doctors in awe. We are true believers and practitioners that the best pharmacy is our very own kitchen…and garden,” says Karen Barski, Founder of Zenergy Center and the Woombie Baby Swaddle.

10 Under-the-Radar Ways to Supercharge the Immune System

For Kids (preschool kids and older)

#1 A smoothie a day keeps the doctor away

Move over apples, smoothies are taking your place. “All kids should have a smoothie right when they wake up – this superfood immunity boost goes right into your cells since your stomach is empty. The body has been sleeping all night and is not digesting any food which means it has more time to do what it should – keep your organs clean, healthy, and functioning at its highest level to prevent sickness and disease,” says Barski.

Here’s a go-to recipe your kids will love (enough for 2-3 people):

1 Cup Organic Frozen Mixed Berries
1 Banana for natural sweetness
2-3 Scoops of Vanilla Protein Powder (we choose dairy free, plant-based)
2-3 Tablespoons Chia Seeds or Chia/Flax Blend
2-3 big handfuls of greens like kale or spinach (or we like to use Earthbound Organics “Power Greens” from Costco which has a mix of baby spinach, baby kale, and baby swiss chard – 1.5 lbs for under $7!)
1.5 Cups of Water or Almond/Soy/Nut Milk (avoid dairy)

Here’s another “green” smoothie but looks purple so kids love it (2 serving sizes):

1 Whole Lemon peeled (seeds and all!)
1 Tsp of fresh ginger (1/3 size of your thumb)
1 Cup leafy greens (kale or spinach)
1 Cup Coconut Water
¼ Apple
½ Cucumber
1 Small Celery Stalk
½ Cup Frozen Berries
½ Banana (can be frozen too)

#2 Essential Oils

Used for 6000 years, essential oils are a form of alternative medicine using plant extracts to promote health and well being. They can be applied to the skin or used through aromatherapy. Here are some best essential oil tips for kids:

  • Essential oils should be used on kids 3 years and older topically (in a carrier oil like jojoba). Essential oils can even be diffused in infant nursery from birth and beyond but put it on the other side of the room and dilute it a bit more.

  • It’s worrisome to many when hand sanitizer runs out and cannot be found at any store, but there’s a way to make hand sanitizer at home that is healthier and just as effective. Alcohol-based sanitizers are full of chemicals so “a great homemade sanitizer recipe can be made from 2 oz of Witch Hazel with 20 drops of doTERRA on guard and tea tree oil and if you don’t have that, 20 drops each of Tea tree oil and lavender in the witch hazel will work as well. I just bought little teeny spray bottles for the kids so they can keep it in their pocket instead of the alcohol stuff,” Barski adds.

  • Use a diffuser to mist essential oils with tea tree, lavender and frankincense into the air. “Running in the main area the house (the kitchen or living room) my overall favorite blend is DoTERRA’s On Guard which helps activate the immune system. If your kid has the sniffles, move the diffuser in their bedroom at night,” says Barski.

  • Woombie’s Child Essentials offers three essential oil blends: one is called Relief and is for stuffy noses, Restore for the immune system, and Rest is for a good night’s sleep (which is a big factor in keeping our immune systems strong).

  • Put 3-4 drops of doTERRA On Guard on the soles of your kid’s feet when they are sick (2x daily).

  • Also from Woombie, The Feel Better Bear is an essential oils tool to comfort kids while sick and help them get better.

    The adorable plush bear includes:

    *Aromatherapy pockets in hand areas
*Tissues or PJs in tummy area (or a fun secret compartment)
*Name your bear and cuddle away!
    *Child Essential Oils sold separately

#3 Prevent Spreading Germs

Talk to your kids about sneezing / coughing etiquette such as coughing into your elbow/arm and never your hands and throwing away used tissues then immediately washing your hands or using sanitizer (hand washing is best).

When your child comes home from school, a playdate, or anywhere public where they touched things (sat in a seat, shopping cart, etc.) do this routine:

  • Shoes off at the door.
  • Clothes off at the door.
  • Wash hands with soap for 20 seconds – sing the ABCs.
  • Avoid sugar and junk for all snacks – soda is liquid poison. Fresh fruit, veggies, and healthy snacks like chickpea puffs, granola, and trailmix.
  • For adults – take off shoes, wash hands, and wipe down your cell phone as well as your car steering wheel next time you drive.

#4 Elderberry

Antioxidant-rich Elderberry is a shiny purple berry from the European Elderberry tree and has been used for generations to treat a wide variety of ailments. It’s best known here in the States to help strengthen kids’ immune systems and help fight the flu (studies have proven that it shortens the duration of sick time by 2-3 days).

You can give kids a small daily dose of Elderberry during flu season to boost your child’s immune system as a preventative measure or can be given when your child gets sick.

“There are many ways to take Elderberry, but the easiest for littler kids is to get the concentrated dropper and add to water. I add to my kid’s school water bottle and he drinks it during the day without tasting anything but water; however, it does have a good taste since it’s a berry,” adds Barski.

Always ask your doctor before taking Elderberry since kids with autoimmune disorders should not take it.

#5 Vitamins

“Vitamins and probiotics are important to keep your kiddos strong and healthy. We use the Olly + Probiotic Gummy Vitamins. One a day up to age 4 and then it’s two a day.

“We also give our kids extra Vitamin D – the Vitamin D gummies are great and they also have drops which can be added to water without making it taste different.

“Vitamin C is very important – we like the Vitamin C powder packs. At the first sign of getting sick, mix with water and enjoy. They have Vitamin C chewables too. Our bodies can absorb up to 1000 mg of Vitamin C a day so start in small doses multiple times a day – 250 mg doses for kids,” adds Barski.

#6 “I am…” Statements

“What we think, we are. Our thoughts truly dictate the people, circumstances, and events that happen in our lives based on the science of Quantum Physics – or better put, the Law of Attraction. Setting intentions with “I am…” statements will either elevate you or tank you,” adds Barski.

Right in the morning when you get up and before you go to sleep (as you are drifting off to dreamland) say or think, “I am getting better every second” or “I am getting better every day in every way” or “I am a good health warrior!” or “I have a super strong immune system.” Envision yourself up and about and 100% healthy.

#7 Energy Healing

“Some may think energy healing is a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but it’s actually based on science (quantum physics). As a Reiki IIII Master, the best way to explain energy healing is this:

Our bodies are made up of physical elements such as muscles, bones, organs, nerves, etc., but we also have a flow of energy through our bodies. This is called our life energy or Chi or Qi.  We have energy centers called Chakras that allow the flow of energy and then we have meridians and nadas which are like rivers that carry our life energy through-out our body. When our life energy flow is disrupted or blocked, we tend to get sick as our bodies cannot naturally heal. Stress, fear, worry, doubt, anger, anxiety, etc. can all cause energy blocks.  Reiki restores energy balance and gently and effectively opens blocked meridians, nadas and chakras, and clears the energy bodies leaving a feeling of peace and relaxation. As a result the body can heal and get less sick,” explains Barski.

“If you cannot get to an energy healer in person, there are free distant energy healing videos on Youtube. My friend uses this one video often. She had an abscess tooth and nothing was working – she even had gone to the dentist. She watched the 5 minute healing video and in 20 minutes the pain was gone and this weird blood clot fell out of her mouth. Since it worked for her, she uses the video every time she senses that she may be sick and her 4 year old too. The video heals her 4 year old’s stomach aches within minutes and literally overnight flu symptoms have healed,” shares Barski.

#8 Eat Clean

“We cannot expect our bodies to stay healthy and fight off germs if we are not fueling it properly. It’s like putting diesel gas in a regular car,” adds Barski.

Foods to Build up a Great Immune System:

  • Kiwis are a magical fruit! The golden kiwis have double the vitamin C compared to a green kiwi and are delicious and sweet. One kiwi has almost double the vitamin C as an orange. Eat three golden kiwis and that’s nearly 300 mg of Vitamin C.

  • “Garlic is a superfood! We feed our horses some garlic with their feed and not one bug or fly gets on them. It’s incredible. Garlic contains compounds that help the immune system fight germs. Studies have shown that garlic reduces the risk of becoming sick in the first place if eaten often or daily, as well as how long you stay sick. It can also reduce the severity of symptoms,” adds Barski.

Make sure to talk to your Vet before giving animals garlic.

  • Sauerkraut and non-dairy Kefir  – “While some families prefer Greek yogurt, to get probiotics we eat sauerkraut and non-dairy kefir (since we are dairy-free). These foods help create a healthy gut. When your gut is healthy, your immune system is stronger,” adds Barski.

  • Spinach – This leafy green is packed with numerous antioxidants and beta carotene, which may increase the infection-fighting ability of our immune systems. It’s the healthiest when cooked as little as possible to retain its nutrients. “Add fresh to salads, healthy superfood bowls, a sandwich or wrap, and add it to pasta dishes and soups at the last moment for a minute so it wilts then serve,” adds Barski.

#9 Epsom Salt Baths

Epsom salt draws out toxins from the body. “Depending on your needs there are several that are recommended including Eucalyptus if you have respiratory cold, but I prefer the original Dr. Teals which is the cheapest at Walmart or Amazon.com. 20 minutes max and drink plenty of water afterwards – this is very important,” says Barski.

You can add essential oils like Lavender or tea bags of Chamomile, Valerian, or Lavender tea to help boost the immune system.

#10 Get Movin’

Every day you should get out and walk and/or run around and play with you kids. A Harvard study showed that walking boosts immune function and helps protect you during cold and flu season. Those who walk have 43% fewer sick days compared to those who exercised once a week or less.  SOURCE

“Skip the busy gym to practice social distancing and choose the open air instead. Luckily the weather is becoming warmer so families can enjoy the outdoors. Look up local hiking trails. It’s super fun to explore new trails and be with nature. Pack water and for longer hikes bring some healthy snacks. A picnic is also fun to do,” adds Barski.

For Adults

Follow the same tips as above plus add in:

1. Intermittent Fasting

The last time you eat should be 7PM at night and then the next morning when you wake have two glasses of water (16 ounces to jump start your body – just think, you just went 8 hours with not one sip of water!) and you can have a cup of coffee (almond milk but no sugar), then an hour later have your Super Greens Protein Smoothie just like the kids have. No solid food until noon time so that means you just fasted from solid food for 17 hours giving your body a chance to clean those organs, detox, and get your body working at its optimal state.

2. Turmeric Could Kill Coronavirus and Studies Show Kills Other Deadly Viruses

Although stated there is no science to back this up, Dr. Harish Moorjani gave a very engaging and enlightening speech at a public library about COVID-19 . One of the tips he shared was to sip the following just before you go to bed: ½ teaspoon of turmeric mixed with ¼ cup milk (we suggest swapping this for almond milk, adding a dash of cinnamon which also boosts the immune system, and a tiny bit of honey for sweetness).

His story was quite compelling; as an Infectious Disease Specialist who has been around people with highly contagious viruses he has never once had a sick day from work. He claims that it’s because of his nighttime ritual of sipping turmeric and milk right before bed so it coats your throat and kills any virus.

How CBD Oil is made: The Ultimate Ethanol Extraction Guide

Recent medical research shows that Cannabinoid (CBD) has the potential to ease symptoms of various ailments such as cancer, arthritis, and multiple sclerosis and more. CBD, which is one of the 85 different compounds that naturally occur in a cannabis plant, is growing in popularity for its medical applications.

CBD products act as:

  • Antioxidants
  • Antipsychotics
  • Anticonvulsants
  • Anti-inflammatories

The users cannot gain these benefits from just buying a hemp plant from a supplier. The compound that offers these excellent benefits must be extracted and transformed into a consumable product by a professional.

Ethanol extraction is one of the best methods to extract CBD oils.

How Ethanol Extraction Process Works

The ethanol extraction method involves introducing a solvent (ethanol) to the hemp plant to extract the cannabinoid. Ethanol then helps dissolves the natural chlorophyll of the hemp plant along with essential oils and cannabinoids. This results in a green-colored CBD oil. A simple filtering process helps remove the green discoloration.

Additional steps after extraction

The CBD extract must pass through a few other processes before it is ready for pet and human consumption.

  • Decarboxylation

This is the process that helps activate CBD oil. Before this process is done, the extract is still in an inactive form, and the CBD and THC present in the plant haven’t reached their full potential.

These phytocannabinoids are in an acidic state, which is better known as cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). The elements must pass through the decarboxylation process to make the inactive components active and get a high-quality end-product.

  • Winterization

Winterization is the process used to remove unwanted fatty acids, chlorophyll, plant materials, terpenes, and cannabinoids found in the CBD extract. This act helps dissolve non-polar substances (such as hash oil) into a polar substance (in most cases, ethanol) at sub-zero temperatures.

The process forces lipids (fatty acids) and waxes from the crude extract to the uppermost part of the mixture. Then, they are removed through a simple filtration process.

Downsides of Ethanol Extraction

Ethanol readily mixes with water which breaks down water-soluble molecules such as chlorophyll. Unfortunately, chlorophyll is one major “undesirable” ingredient. The ethanol extraction method can produce a green, grassy product which is also undesirable.

Some industry leaders like Capna Sytems have invented ways to reduce the need for additional processes during the ethanol extraction method. For example, by using multiple ethanol extractions, they mitigate the presence of chlorophyll among other undesirables.

Why Ethanol Extraction is the Safest Method

According to the FDA, ethanol is the safest method of extraction and is already being used in the extraction of many other conventional medicines and foods.

The main aim of extraction is to produce cannabinoids that are not just pure but also highly concentrated for pet and human consumption. Unlike other methods of extraction, ethanol extraction provides a high-quality end product with up to 99% purity. Also, it is one of the cheapest and most efficient methods available.

How to decarb cannabis to release its psychoactive ingredient

What is the process of decarboxylation or decarbing cannabis? Learn about the active elements of cannabis.

When you’ve ever thought about how to decarb wax; have you been aware that the cannabis plant in its natural form is not psychoactive? As it naturally grows, there is no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive element of weed, in the cannabis plant.

It is only when it is heated, during a process of decarboxylation that it becomes ‘active’. Heating converts inactive THCA into active THC. Get this bit right and you’re on your way to ‘how to decarb wax’.

But, what if you are not going to burn your weed to get high? You will have to carry out a separate process of decarb by putting your weed in the oven; even before you use it in cannabis edibles.

How does this work? Well, the heat removes carboxyl from the THCA which then transforms into psychoactive THC. The same process is carried from CBDA to CBD.

What’s Best; Decarbed to Raw Weed?

You want to use decarbed cannabis to get the benefits of THC and CBD. However, there are benefits also from the non-active THCA and CBDA. These both have anti-inflammatory properties that can be of benefit for medical purposes.

To enjoy these benefits you need to take your weed directly from the fresh plant. Do not dry or cure them and, if you want to store them for a few days, you can put them in a fridge. You should not refrigerate them for more than a few days, however. So, it is best to mix it up as a smoothie or tea. If you are going to mix it with a tea or hot drink, be careful as decarbing can occur with the high temperature.

As well as THCA and CBDA, raw weed contains terpenes and phytonutrients which are both healthy and provide non-psychoactive benefits. Because of this, they can be used in treating illnesses or ailments in children.

In its raw form, cannabis contains hundreds of non-psychoactive cannabinoids, the most abundant of which is THCA. For this reason, many people prefer actual cannabis to synthetic THC in some medications. These tend to have just THC, without the other beneficial elements of fresh weed.

Decarbing not only activates THCA to THC; it also transforms CBDA into CBD and carries out a similar process with other cannabinoids.

What Temperature Does Decarboxylation Take Place In An Oven?

The required temperature for decarbing in an oven depends upon the time you want to spend on the process. It also depends on what sort of flavour you want from your decarbed weed.

Decarbing at lower temperatures for a longer time will preserve terpenes, making your weed smell and taste better.

A common method of decarbing is as follows:

  • Preheat your oven to 220 – 300F
  • Break up your weed into small pieces
  • Spread the pieces onto a baking tray
  • Heat for 30-60 minutes
  • Remove tray from the oven
  • Allow to cool
  • Grind by hand; with a grinder; or food processor.

Your decarbed weed should now be coarsely ground, but not to a powder. You can now use your THC-laden weed through a variety of consumption methods.

Why MCT Oil Is Used in CBD Products

Like many people around the globe, you may have heard a lot of good things about CBD oil over the recent years. A rising number of people have come to learn about CBD because of the increased level of interest from the press, the positive results of research and studies, and the changes in legislation that have taken place in various states and destinations.

If you are new to the world of CBD oil products, you naturally want to learn more about the product before you decide whether it is something that is right for you. This includes looking at the benefits of using CBD oil such as combatting anxiety and stress, looking at how CBD oil could help you to improve your quality of life, and finding out more about the different methods of using CBD oil. You may also be interested in specific questions such as why MCT oil is used in CBD products. This is something we will look at a little more closely in this article.

The Role of MCT Oil

The speed at which CBD is absorbed can depend on various factors such as the method you decide to use in order to take CBD oil. There are various different methods you can choose from such as a CBD oil tincture, CBD supplements, and CBD capsules. Naturally, those who use CBD oil products want to make the most of them and one of the things that can help with this is the use of MCT oil in CBD products.

MCT oil can be very useful in terms of increasing the benefits and absorption rate of CBD oil products, particularly when you are using products such as supplements and capsules. So, why is it used in products such as these? Well, the presence of MCT oil helps to boost the bioavailability of the CBD and means that more of the CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream. This then means it increases the benefits, as you will feel the effects of the CBD more quickly.

MCT oil has enjoyed increased popularity over recent years among the health-conscious. They are made up of chains of saturated fatty acids that are known as triglycerides. There are various different sources of MCTs such as palm oil and coconut oil. In fact, MCT oil is often used in dressings, smoothies, and recipes because of the health benefits it offers.

In terms of being used in CBD oil products, MCT oil can help to ensure faster delivery and stronger effects. As mentioned earlier, the rate at which CBD oil is absorbed into the body depends on the method used, and some methods, such as supplements and tablets, can be slower than others. Using MCT oil helps to combat this issue as it becomes a form of carrier for the CBD oil, so more of it gets into the bloodstream.

So, as you can see, MCT oil can play a vital part in CBD products, which is why it is considered a valuable addition to many CBD products.

Cresco Workers are Fighting for a Union on Legalization Day

Cresco Labs employees who are fighting for a Union alongside Local 881 UFCW will flyer outside of Cresco’s Wrigleyville dispensary on the 1st day of legal recreational sales to waiting customers. They’ll be there to inform those waiting in line about their campaign for a Union in Joliet, IL and Cresco’s retaliation against their own employees who are standing up for better wages, benefits, schedules, and dignity on the job.

WHEN: Wednesday, January 1, 2020 (6:00am-9:00am)

WHERE: Sunnyside Dispensary – Lakeview (3812 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60613)

WHY: Anti-Union Cannabis Lab is Growing Disappointment for Workers

Workers at Cresco Labs, one of the largest cannabis companies operating in Illinois, are organizing to be represented by Local 881 United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). Cresco owners rejected the request to recognize Local 881 at their grow facility in Joliet, IL. In response, Local 881 has filed a petition for election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

Workers at Cresco in Illinois report that the Company initiated a full anti-Union campaign against them the moment they started their organizing campaign. Local 881 has charged Cresco with committing numerous violations of federal labor laws. The unfair labor practices committed by Cresco are intended to intimidate and coerce the workers from exercising their federal right to organize. Charges filed by Local 881 has filed a petition for election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

⁃ Interrogating workers who are pro-Union

⁃ Unlawful coercion of workers by conferring benefits

⁃ Soliciting workers grievances

“The cannabis industry is about to grow enormously in Illinois,” said Steve Powell, Local 881 President and UFCW International Vice President. “it is very disappointing to see Cresco lowering the standards and expectations of jobs in this industry.” The workers at Cresco Labs in Illinois believe joining the Union will help improve their working conditions. Many of the workers compare the conditions at Cresco to a bad factory. “I would like to unionize Cresco for better pay, a voice at work, better benefits and a better work environment,” said Natajsha, a Cresco employee, “Just because you work in an industry that you are passionate about doesn’t mean you should to be paid less!” Workers will no longer tolerate Cresco’s second-rate working conditions, including:

⁃ Low wages

⁃ Inadequate health plan

⁃ Unpredictable schedules

⁃ Ignored PTO requests

⁃ Lack of respect

“We worked very hard to pass legislation for medical use and worked even harder to pass recreational use,” said Representative Lawrence Walsh Jr. of the Illinois 86th District. “It is a betrayal to all of us that believe in the opportunities of the cannabis industry, when we hear that Cresco has engaged in anti-union activity and refused to recognize the wishes of their workers.” The workers want to address and fix these issues with their employer as the industry grows. Local 881 is committed to helping Cresco workers organize and improve their working conditions. Local 881 will fight to ensure that their rights and dignity are respected.

Which CBD Product Is the Best?

Cannabidiol (or CBD for short) oil is derived from the cannabis plant. Although CBD is from cannabis, it does not get you high. It does have many therapeutic benefits and can be used to ease the symptoms of conditions such as anxiety. Different people have different responses to CBD oil, so it’s essential to try the oil for yourself to see what positive or negative effects you get. The following guide gives you some options to consider to choose the best CBD product for you.

What Are the Most Common CBD Products?

The CBD industry is growing by leaps and bounds. There are many preparations and products on the market, but CBD oil taken sublingually is one of the most popular CBD products. Vaping CBD is another common CBD product with its popularity growing as CBD becomes more mainstream. CBD products for animals are also becoming quite common.

Aspects That Determine the Efficiency of a Product

The CBD industry is almost entirely unregulated to date. So it’s up to the consumer to ascertain what they are buying and using. Dosage amounts that are too low will not achieve the ‘optimum’ level for an individual, and they may subsequently feel no effect at all. Finding the correct dose of CBD to achieve your optimum results can take trial-and-error. Most proponents recommend starting with lower dosages and increasing the dosage if needed.

You can find a range of concentrations available, from 100 mg up to 3,500 mg, which are recommended for a dosage of between .5 ml and 1.0 mil under the tongue. You may find that it’s easier to get a controlled dosage with edibles like gummies or capsules than with oil, which is delivered by a dropper. Users also find that more product is delivered by ingesting than via vaping.

Sublingual Consumption

There is a vein under the tongue called the sublingual gland. When a substance is administered under the tongue to the sublingual glands, it gets absorbed directly into the bloodstream, which is referred to as sublingual consumption or sublingual administration. Common sublingual consumption methods include CBD tinctures, CBD lozenges, and CBD sprays.

Bioavailability

Bioavailability refers to the proportion of a substance that enters the circulation when introduced into the body and thus will have an active effect. It’s basically the rate at which a substance is absorbed into the bloodstream. Bioavailability is an essential measurement tool since it determines the correct dosage administration of a substance. Sublingual CBD products generally have high bioavailability.

Duration of Effect

It typically takes 15–30 minutes to feel the effects of a CBD tincture, and the effects are known to last between 4–6 hours, though it is partially a factor of how potent a dose is taken.

Ingested CBD, either using edibles or capsules, takes a bit longer to have an effect, but the results will also last longer, compared to other methods of taking CBD. This is because when CBD products are ingested, it takes a while for them to be digested and then processed by the liver before making it to the bloodstream. Once they are in the bloodstream, you can start to feel their effects.

Convenience

Finding a CBD oil product that is convenient for you to use will determine its effectiveness. You needn’t make a trek to the store to buy CBD oil, as there are a plethora of online retailers with all the products at your fingertips.

CBD edibles are one of the most convenient ways to use CBD oil, as you don’t need to worry about a cream, which requires time to apply, or vaping, which requires equipment. CBD capsules are often considered the most convenient, but CBD gummies are increasingly popular and very convenient.

The market is so large that there are now CBD products for any indulgence, including CBD-infused soaps, bath salts, lip balm, eye cream, and other ways to take part in CBD’s benefits according to your fancy. Note that some products available in one state or country are not guaranteed to be available in the next.

Cost

According to HuffPost, price is often a marker of purity. They advise that if you see a CBD oil that claims to have a 100-milligram potency for less than $40, it’s likely that the CBD is not pure.  According to another source, a 1-ounce, or 30-milliliter, bottle of CBD oil may cost anywhere from $30 to over $200. What makes the discrepancy? Well, the potency of a bottle can greatly affect the price, as well as where it is manufactured. When trying to decide if a CBD product is priced right, you can ask the following questions:

  • Is it grown organically
  • Is it grown domestically?
  • What are the product reviews?

You can look for certificates of analysis (COA), which have to be issued by a licensed laboratory, which tests for potency and safety. This certification is pricey for companies and may add to your cost.

Method of Consumption

To complicate matters, there is a wide range of methods to experience CBD oil. You can ingest sublingually (as in various terpenes) or use edibles such as capsules, gummies, syrups or CBD infused coffee or tea. You can deliver CBD products via inhalation with vaporizers, smokeables, or topicals on the skin. Topicals vary, too. You can select CBD topical cream or sprays. The effects of each method differ from one individual to individual.

Conclusion

The best CBD product is the one that suits you for cost, convenience, and outcome. Remember that you can expect very different results, depending on dosing, the condition that needs treating.

We’ve come a long way, the rise of women, the laws we’ve overcome for women to make a stand, to the freedom we’ve secured in a society to become owners and trailblazers for today’s controversial passed laws — one being Cannabis.

With heads standing tall, Autumn Shelton (Owner/ CFO) and Hanna Brand (Owner/ Sales Director) of Santa Barbara-based Autumn Brands are changing the culture and conversation around the female use of cannabis. The first to receive a California Provisional Annual Cultivation license in Santa Barbara County, Autumn Brands is a family-run, 50% woman-owned company known for its holistic focus and artisanal approach to producing powerfully potent strains of pesticide-free cannabis. From day one to the present, the company has sought to shift the female perspective, stigmas, and misunderstandings associated with the use of cannabis as part of a whole and healthy lifestyle. The extraordinary women behind Autumn Brands bring an uncompromising work ethic to the task of producing hand-selected, sun-grown buds which are hang-dried, hand-trimmed and cured to preserve maximum potency and full healing benefits. Determined to make their mark on a male-dominated cannabis industry, the company aims to serve a growing female health and wellness market eager to embrace the myriad benefits of cannabis as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Women’s Equality Day is more than just a day to celebrate our achievements, it’s also gives us a chance to empowering and uplift our fellow women!

Three Things To Consider When Setting Up Your Wellness Business

The wellness industry is currently booming: more and more people are forgoing traditional medicine for holistic therapies, natural remedies and a more planet-friendly lifestyle – so there’s never been a better time to set up your own health-based business. Like all businesses though, there’s plenty to consider before you take the plunge and announce yourself open for trading – we’ve come up with three of the most important things to think about, so if you’re thinking about anything from teaching yoga, to writing self-help courses, read on!

Consider Your Speciality

The first thing to do is decide on your area of expertise; if you’ve studied for a specific career path such as aromatherapy or herbalism, you’re already set – but if you’re thinking of writing courses or e-books, or hosting workshops, then you’re going to need to know your subject inside out. If you’re interested in a variety of wellness topics, consider which one you find most interesting – and think about what you can offer people; they’ll be expecting knowledge and guidance that they can’t find anywhere else on the internet.

It’s also worth noting that you legally can’t provide medical advice or practice any form of therapy unless you have a formal license to do so – so reading books might not be enough of a background!

Decide On Your Premises

For any business, you’re going to need to think about where you’re going to be trading from; if you’re writing courses or blog posts, all you’ll need is a laptop and a desk – but if you’re going to host workshops, offer physical treatment sessions or manufacture your own products, you’re going to need more space. A spare room is a great place to start, but if you’re already at maximum capacity with family members, then why not consider adding a large shed or summer house in the garden?

Once equipped with light and power, they can be just as comfortable as professional premises – and the bonus is that you won’t have to travel far for work! You could also look into pop-up or co-working spaces – these are provided with a shorter term lease, so they’re ideal if you’re just starting out and testing the water.

Look Into Expenses

Although it’s easy to focus on the profit margins, any business comes with a long list of expenses – so it’s important to sit down and calculate these before you commit to anything. The best way to do this is to research everything from materials and equipment to postal costs, internet fees and lease prices – make a note of everything and then look at forecasting your potential income to provide an accurate estimate for profits.

Even if you’re going to be working from home, it’s worth looking into business accounts for your energy supply, and getting some business electricity quotes – this could save you a lot of money in the long run. You should also look into what you can deduct as taxable expenses, as there might be some things on the list that surprise you (and there might be some things you’re expecting to see that don’t appear!) – so it’s definitely something to take some time over.

Green Dentistry

5 Reasons Green Dentistry Is Gaining Popularity

For a growing number of patients, a trip to the dentist isn’t what it used to be – and that’s how they want it.

Rather than just a routine “drill-and-fill” for a cavity, they may receive a head massage,  meditative advice and diet suggestions that would seem more befitting a gastroenterologist. What they won’t receive are traditional amalgam fillings – about 50 percent of which are composed of mercury, which has been associated with numerous health issues and is considered an environmental hazard.

This emerging branch of dentistry – which dental professionals say is largely patient-driven – is called “holistic” or “holistic biological.” Holistic dentists believe that poor oral health leads to poor physical health. They perform traditional procedures but consider the whole body – diet, lifestyle, emotional health – when treating teeth. They also focus on using what they consider to be safer materials.

“It’s the opposite of common dental culture, which is simply ‘drill and fill,’ ” says Dr. Nammy Patel, DDS, author of Age With Style: Your Guide To A Youthful Smile & Healthy Living. “Holistic dentistry is looking at and addressing the underlying causes for gum disease and cavities; for example, is it your diet, hormonal changes, or acid reflux?

“For many years in the dental profession, it was assumed that your oral health had only a tangential effect on your overall health. We now know better.”

Dr. Patel provides five reasons holistic dentistry is trending up as a treatment approach by patients:

  • Focus on the whole body and root cause. Holistic dentistry looks beyond symptoms to find root causes for dental issues while expanding methods of preventive care. “It’s a deeper look at a patient that offers them numerous benefits when considering diet and lifestyle and how it all connects with oral health,” Dr. Patel says.
  • Minimally-invasive treatments. “The focus is on helping patients avoid unnecessary, painful and drawn-out procedures that can hurt overall well-being,” Dr. Patel says. “That doesn’t mean sacrificing high-tech treatments for disease. Laser treatments for gum disease and cleaning are one example of minimally-invasive. The latter does a great job of destroying bacteria that are the biggest danger to your oral health. Air abrasion and ozone therapy are effective other effective minimally-invasive procedures.
  • Biocompatible and non-toxic materials. Holistic dentists will remove amalgam (mercury) fillings and favor dental appliances made from more natural substances. “A traditional approach to dentistry often uses mercury fillings or crowns and other harmful materials when treating dental issues,” Dr. Patel says. “Research has shown all kinds of health problems related to mercury, from thyroid issues to Alzheimer’s. Holistic dentistry will use non-toxic resins and materials fully compatible with the body.”
  • Alternatives to root canals. Dr. Patel says holistic dentists are more likely to look at alternatives, such as herbs, laser therapy, or extractions. A key reason: “Research shows unless root canals are completely sterilized and cleaned of all bacteria, the bacteria can get in the bloodstream can cause chronic health complications,” Dr. Patel says.
  • Balances cosmetics and function. “Missing, damaged, or crooked teeth can make you feel self-conscious and affect your quality of life,” Dr. Patel notes. “Holistic care takes a balanced approach to both form and function when developing a dental care plan. For example, if you’re worried about stained teeth, they’ll guide you first to healthy foods that alleviate the problem.”

“Holistic dentistry is committed to making sure you’re comfortable, making your teeth last a lifetime, and using the most natural materials available,” Dr. Patel says.
