Casablanca Records releases Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP inspired by Squid Game, Netflix’s most-watched series – reaching over 142 million households globally. The brand-new EP features TOKiMONSTA’s new song entitled “The Flower Blooms.”  Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP also includes new music from ALOKCheat Codes, and MayTree.

Listen to Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP HERE via Casablanca Records.

TOKiMONSTA comments on “The Flower Blooms” and Squid Game. “Like so many, I watched Squid Games and loved it. As a Korean American, seeing this type of representation paired with boundary breaking acceptance is important for Asian minorities living in Western societies.  That being said, after watching it I felt inspired to write something unique and tied to my Korean roots. In Korean, the “Red Light, Green Light” moment is based on a Korean game I grew up with—the words actually saying “The hibiscus flower is blooming/blossoming.”  I created a fun song, using my own voice to sing the lyric in Korean.”

The history making South Korean Netflix series, Squid Game, follows Gi-hun.  Laid off and divorced with high-interest loans and a gambling debt, Gi-hun is at his wit’s end when a strange man presents him a business card featuring a circle, triangle and square. The man invites Gi-hun to a survival game. The prize money? 45.6 billion won. Grasping at straws, Gi-hun accepts the offer and lands himself in a mysterious place with a total of 456 participants; among them is Sang-woo, Gi-hun’s former neighbor who initially seemed to be living the high life, Il-nam the terminally ill elder, Sae-byeok the North Korean defector, Deok-su the gangster, Mi-nyeo the con artist and Ali the migrant worker. The rule is simple: Everyone has to participate in a well-known, classic childhood game. The stakes? Their lives. Winner takes all.  Trust no one, not even yourself.  Here, winning is the only thing that matters.

Squid Game has also been confirmed to have a second season.

Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP Tracklisting:

1. Alok “Squid Game (Let’s Play)”

2. Cheat Codes “Way Back Then (Squid Game Remix)”

3. TOKiMONSTA “The Flower Blooms”

4. MayTree “Squid Game (acapella)”

Jex x 2 A.M.

Gathering 100 million streams on popular collaborations and earning acclaim from EDM.com and more, New Jersey electronic pop songstress Jex introduces a scorching signature style on her first solo single “2AM” today. It notably marks her official debut for Eddie O Entertainment/Casablanca Records.

The track rides a dance floor-tailored disco bounce and thick piano towards a powerhouse refrain. Jex’s vocals explode from intimate verses into a soaring nocturnal chorus.

Regarding the single, she commented, I tried to capture the personal experience of not being able to sleep, because you’re thinking about someone. I’m not in love with this person, but at that time of night, it sometimes feels like you are. This person is just on your mind.”

Jex has already moved listeners everywhere with a high-powered catalog of collaborations. However, she’s offering an escape in her solo material uplifted to the heavens by her seismic vocals. Right now, she’s preparing more music for release very soon.

Jex recognized her calling as a kid in a small South Jersey farm town outside of Philadelphia. Her father gigged regularly, and he brought Jex out on stage at a young age. She studied piano for twelve years and gained a deep understanding of theory. At the same time, she taught herself how to compose by listening to everyone from Lady Gaga, Sia, and Amy Winehouse to Boston and Foreigner. She dropped out of college and locked herself inside of her home studio. Her voice caught the attention of various producers, and she quietly emerged as an in-demand vocalist. In 2017, she initially teamed up with Humain for “My Way,” opening up the floodgates. She joined forces with Robin Hustin and Tobi Morrow on “Light It Up,” surpassing 27.8 million Spotify streams. She landed her biggest collaboration to date by fueling “Control” by Unknown Brain and Rival to over 42 million Spotify streams. Other bangers included Lost Sky’s “Where We Started,” posting up another 19 million Spotify streams.

Meanwhile, EDM.com described her collaboration with Leowi “These Days” as “a stunning dance ballad.” In 2020, she inked a publishing deal with Ultra Publishing. During 2021, she landed a deal with Eddie O Entertainment/Casablanca Records.

Get ready for more from Jex soon.

Today sees London-born songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist SG Lewis link up with legendary artists Robyn and Channel Tres for his brand new single ‘Impact’

New Single – Impact

Today sees London-born songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist SG Lewis link up with legendary artists Robyn and Channel Tres for his brand new single ‘Impact’, out now via Republic Records in North America. ‘Impact’ premiered last night as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 in the U.K and is a summer smash in waiting, with an addictive club-ready groove and mesmerizing vocals from both Robyn and Channel Tres.

Listen to Impact HERE.

“Impact is possibly my favorite record I’ve ever been a part of” says SG Lewis: “The chemistry between Channel and Robyn is so powerful, and creates something so unique. Channel is an artist I believe will go on to create a musical legacy as important as the one Robyn has already created, and to have the two of them on this record together is insane. Working with my good friend TEED again on the production is amazing, as he is truly a production hero of mine. I hope it provides some release and euphoria in a time where it’s hard to come by.”

“Impact is about how someone can come into your life and completely change you either for better or worse.” says Channel Tres; “In this instance it was for the better and I’m going through the emotions of denying something that’s obviously good for me but the hurt I’ve been through in my past causes me to put up defense mechanisms. While I’m putting up the defenses, the person trying to love me pursues me consistently and this impacts my life in so many ways.”

Of the track, Robyn adds: “Sam made this instant thing, it´s a special skill to make a song that hits you right away the way Impact does. The track just gave me the feels and it wasn´t hard to write a chorus to it, especially with Channels vocals on there already. Channel Tres came on tour with us last year so I know how strong he is on stage and hopefully some time in the future we will get to be on stage together, with Sam, performing this song.”

‘Impact’ follows ‘Chemicals’ as the second single to be taken from SG Lewis’ yet-to-be-announced debut album, due later this year. ‘Chemicals’ saw SG taking center stage on vocals as well as production, accumulating over 12 million streams since release. The two singles follow the three-chapter concept EP Dusk, Dark, Dawn, with collaborators including Clairo, T.E.E.D., AlunaGeorge and Ruel. The project serves as a tribute to club and youth culture and chronicles the trajectory of a night out through its different moods and genres, having now broken past 200 million streams. While Dusk (early 2018) blends disco, smooth electro and funk and Dark (late 2018) explores distinctly heavier yet still diverse sounds, Dawn (2019) is a sonic embodiment of those euphoric sunrise moments and the feeling of togetherness at the end of a night well spent.

2019 also saw SG Lewis sell-out headline shows across North America, Asia, Australia, and Europe as well as playing prime slots at Coachella and Glastonbury, cementing his status as not just one of London’s hottest new talents but also a formidable artist capable of making a splash on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.

SG has recently collaborated with Aluna, Victoria Monet, Raye, Ray BLK, The Neptunes/N.E.R.D’s Chad Hugo, Gerd Janson, Conducta and more as well as producing ‘Hallucinate’ on Dua Lipa’s record-smashing album Future Nostalgia and Dave’s ‘100M’s’, proving his worth as one of the most respected and prolific musicians from the UK. SG’s ever-growing catalog both as a collaborator and with his solo tracks showcases his abilities as a producer capable of working beyond the limits of genre and style.

‘Impact’ (Feat. Robyn and Channel Tres) is out everywhere now.

BabyJake – Head In The Clouds

Today, singer, songwriter BabyJake gifts fans with his new single, “Head In The Clouds,” taken from his debut EP, Don’t give me problems, give me wine, out this Friday—listen HERE and watch the visual HERE!

On the bouncy, jangly “Head in the Clouds,” BabyJake explores the hidden weight of emotional escape, juxtaposing bright guitarwork against moody lyrics about self-defeat and the pitfalls of depression and avoidance. Of the song, he says, “I’m always late. I have a hard time focusing. My mind is always somewhere else. ‘Head In The Clouds’ is about that…my daily struggles.”

Head In The Clouds” follows BabyJake’s breakout singles, “Confidant,” “Blue Cellophane” and “MadHappySad,” as well as his collaborations with Dillon Francis, “You Do You” and “Touch,” released earlier this spring. Stay tuned for Don’t give me problems, give me wine out this Friday!

ABOUT BABYJAKE

Jake Herring, the artist who records as BabyJake, has a complicated relationship with music. Growing up in Fort Meyers, Florida, Herring first picked up the guitar when he was eight years old. By the time he was in high school, he was juggling a deep, somewhat private love of music with genuine enthusiasm for sports and partying with his friends. He didn’t feel like he fit in in any specific social group, and soon felt alienated. For solace, Herring turned to his dad’s folk records, favoring the low-key contemplative sounds that resonated with the sense of alienation that he was feeling. Though he maybe wasn’t conscious of it at the time, Herring was priming himself to be a sort of musical chameleon. Well versed in the building blocks of rock music, the intimacy of folk, and with an innate understanding of the rap and pop music he grew up around, he was constructing a well of disparate influences to draw from when he eventually made a serious go at a music career. After his freshman year of college, Herring dropped out and started writing songs as often as he could, debuting as BabyJake in 2019 with his viral single “Cigarettes on Patios,” which has accumulated over 35 million streams to date. Before too long, he had his first official body of work, which quickly evolved into a multifaceted career that currently involves a record label called daycare with an added merch/streetwear line and a budding career penning and producing songs with other artists. His seven-song debut EP, Don’t give me problems, give me wine, feels like the result of an artist older than his years, someone who has lived recklessly and loved hard and is ready to put it all on record.

Alec King – Weekends

Buzzing Los Angeles-based artist Alec King releases his new video “Weekends” today via The Heavy Group/Republic Records.

Watch “Weekends” HERE.

Who doesn’t like dogs? Alec King’s latest video pulls at our heartstrings as he chills under a tree in a dog park (socially distancing, of course). Between leafing through a diary, Alec plays with various pups—some of whom remain six feet away from him. The scene underscores confessional rhymes and a catchy chorus, reflecting on the boredom of the moment and trying to get over a breakup.

“Weekends” follows the video release of “Way Up” and his song “Dangerous,” which received heavy radio support in his hometown of Denver and 2 million streams in a few months. At the end of last year, Alec King went on his debut US tour with diva on the rise Kiana Ledé. He performed to sold-out venues, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Washington DC and more, winning the crowd over with his infectious charm, incredible stage presence, and catchy songs.

Is there any line this guy won’t cross? Alec King is the kind of dude who rips bars about Wisconsin and god-awful ex-girlfriends with the same passion. He considers Curb Your Enthusiasm his “Torah.” He jumps into bathtubs with Porn Stars in music videos that he directs himself. He even went so far as to name his official debut EP, Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, and its successor, Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 (he backed up the latter with some heat). On the ‘gram, you’re just as likely to catch him in the shower as you are to catch him coloring with sidewalk chalk. This sort of personality endeared him to fans and peers alike. Posting up 10 million-plus streams under-the-radar and attracting acclaim from Dancing Astronaut, he has collaborated with legends such as Biz Markie and modern stars a la Rich The Kid and Kiana Ledé. Not to mention, he did all of this D.I.Y. primarily relying on an in-house team. In 2020, he floods the game with a series of singles and more surprises.
