Alec King – Everything’s Backwards

ALEC KING RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM EVERYTHING’S BACKWARDS TODAY
FEATURING GUESTS GNASH, SKIZZY MARS & MORE

After a year of wild bangers and insane videos filled with cameos by cartoons, puppies and adult film starlets, Los Angeles-based artist Alec King releases his anxiously awaited full-length debut album EVERYTHING’S BACKWARDS via The Heavy Group/Republic Records.

Listen to EVERYTHING’S BACKWARDS: HERE

He initially teased the record with “Fuck Wow Holy Shit” and its unbelievable accompanying music video. However, the 15-track opus proves why he’s the most interesting man in rap. He oozes Denver pride and locks bars with Skizzy Mars on 303-905-5535,” and he also knows how to lull you into a singalong with his new single “Numb & Nervous” feat. gnash.

Between the confessions of “Innocent In A Sense” and plea to “Plz Stop Stalkin Me,” he even gets way more intimate than expected during the ironically titled finale “The Intro.”

The album follows the releases of “Weekends,” “Way Up” and “Dangerous,” which received heavy radio support in his hometown of Denver and over 2 million streams in a few months. At the end of last year, Alec King went on his debut US tour with diva on the rise, KianaLedé. He performed to sold out venues, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Washington DC and more, winning the crowd over with his infectious charm, incredible stage presence and catchy songs.

Is there any line this guy won’t cross? Alec King is the kind of dude who rips bars about Wisconsin and god-awful ex-girlfriends with the same passion. He considers Curb Your Enthusiasm his “Torah.” He jumps into bathtubs with Porn Stars in music videos that he directs himself. He even went so far as to name his official debut EP, Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, and its successor, Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 (he backed up the latter with some heat). On the ‘gram, you’re just as likely to catch him in the shower as you are to catch him coloring with sidewalk chalk. This sort of personality endeared him to both fans and peers alike. Posting up 10 million-plus streams under-the-radar and attracting acclaim from Dancing Astronaut, he has collaborated with legends such as Biz Markie and modern stars a la Rich The Kid and Kiana Ledé. Not to mention, he did all of this D.I.Y. primarily relying on an in-house team. In 2020, he floods the game with a series of singles and more surprises.

Kiana Ledé – KIKI

By Cassandra Yany

Platinum-selling artist Kiana Ledé released seven brand new songs Friday to expand her critically acclaimed album KIKI. These tracks help the Phoenix-born and LA-based singer to show more seduction, spirit and soul than she has before.

The deluxe version includes the single “Only Fan” featuring Jacquees, on which lustful verses, airy guitar and a steady beat create a throwback R&B energy. The two artists sing back and forth as Jacquees’ falsetto reaches a hypnotic peak. The album now contains a bonus track, “Youth” featuring GRAMMY Award-winning blues rock artist Gary Clark Jr., who brings smooth vocals and a head-bobbing riff to the song.

KIKI was first released on April 3 and earned a spot in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top R&B Albums Chart, Top 5 of the Apple Music R&B/ Soul Albums Chart, Top 5 of the iTunes R&B/ Soul Albums Chart and Top 10 of the Apple Music Overall Albums Chart. It has garnered over 50 million streams and received praise from notable outlets such as ELLE, Billboard, Highsnobiety, Vibe and more.

Recently, Kiana Ledé teamed up with Usher for “This Day” from the Netflix original film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.

About Kiana Ledé

Just who is Kiana Ledé? On the one hand, you know her as a fierce and fiery force in R&B responsible for bangers such as the platinum-certified “EX,” “Mad At Me” and “Chocolate” feat. Ari Lennox and has received over 1 billion streams globally and praise from Complex, Vibe, Billboard, ROLLACOASTER Magazine and more. But, who is she? “KIKI,” she answers. On her aptly titled full-length debut, she reveals every side of herself: the vulnerability, the vitality, the anger, the lust, the loyalty, the joy, the darkness, and the truth as evinced on song.

Long before all of this, the songstress “from South Phoenix with Black, Mexican, Native American, and White ancestry” grew up between divorced parents. She played classical instruments and competed in pageants—but popped wheelies on dirt bikes and got under the hood to fix a car or two. Eventually, an adventurous spirit carried her from Arizona to Los Angeles where she began a journey that comes full circle in 2020.

Shaylen – Forgive Myself

“Forgive Myself” is about learning one of the hardest lessons in life…self-forgiveness. Written and produced during self-isolation, the song shows the brutally honest pen-game that has become the hallmark of Shaylen’s reputation. “Forgive Myself” was executive produced and co-written by Jackson Foote from the much beloved electro pop group Loote and produced by Boston from Rice N’ Peas (Bazzi, Kiana Ledé, Anne Marie).

The track shows yet another side of the lyrical songstress. Airy guitar underscores confessions many may have but are hard to confront as she admits, “Don’t know how to love myself without somebody hanging in my bed” and “Don’t know how to be alone without the thought of crawling out my skin.” It builds towards an impressive vocal run fueled by just the right amount of throwback R&B vocal fireworks and pop punch.

Of the track, Shaylen says, “I wrote ‘Forgive Myself’ when I was in a really tough spot mentally. It’s all about my personal struggle with self-forgiveness. We are often taught the importance of apologizing and forgiving others but not the importance of forgiving ourselves when we mess up. I invented apologies, so I know all about it…”

“Forgive Myself” paves the way for more music to come from Shaylen this summer, as she continues to build buzz with her honest lyrics and powerhouse vocals. She recently lent her voice to the Chantel Jeffries banger “Come Back To Me.” It’s already clocked over 1.2 million Spotify streams and counting. In addition to plugs from Billboard, E! News, Variety, Elite Daily and more, CULTR praised Shaylen’s “powerful and meaningful vocals.”

Shaylen leaves a mark on pop by casually dropping the sort of lines you get tattooed somewhere scandalous or reserve for a drunk DM. Unafraid, unapologetic and unfiltered, she’ll put a boring ex on blast in one breath and open up about her deepest insecurities in the next. Yet, she sets gleefully pins those confessions to a defiant soundtrack of R&B, pop and alternative across her debut EP Highs & Lows and the buzzing 2019 single “Sprite.” Posting up over 10 million streams within a year and receiving praise from Billboard, Just Jared, Hollywood Life, Popdust and Idolator who pegged her as “on the brink of a major breakthrough,” the Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter turns heads in 2020 with a series of singles and her forthcoming full-length debut album for Republic Records.

Alec King – Weekends

Buzzing Los Angeles-based artist Alec King releases his new video “Weekends” today via The Heavy Group/Republic Records.

Watch “Weekends” HERE.

Who doesn’t like dogs? Alec King’s latest video pulls at our heartstrings as he chills under a tree in a dog park (socially distancing, of course). Between leafing through a diary, Alec plays with various pups—some of whom remain six feet away from him. The scene underscores confessional rhymes and a catchy chorus, reflecting on the boredom of the moment and trying to get over a breakup.

“Weekends” follows the video release of “Way Up” and his song “Dangerous,” which received heavy radio support in his hometown of Denver and 2 million streams in a few months. At the end of last year, Alec King went on his debut US tour with diva on the rise Kiana Ledé. He performed to sold-out venues, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Washington DC and more, winning the crowd over with his infectious charm, incredible stage presence, and catchy songs.

Isaac Dunbar × Vevo DSCVR

Vevo announces the release of Isaac Dunbar’s DSCVR at Home performance of “boy”

Isaac Dunbar knows full well that when you sign up to be a pop artist these days, you sign up to be an influencer. At only 17, Isaac has thought a lot about what he wants to put out into that culture and the impact it can have. He has thought a lot about how he wants listeners to feel; Isaac mainly wants his fans to know they are not alone in the same way listening to artists like Lady Gaga did for him growing up as a mixed race and artistic kid.

Isaac has gravitated toward music to soothe himself ever since he was a child. Growing up in the town of Barnstable on Cape Cod, Dunbar was bullied for being different. “I never fit in,” he says. “I tried, but it didn’t work. So when other kids were hanging out with each other, I was nine years old and cocooned in my bed scouring the Internet for new music.” Always having a love of singing, he taught himself to play piano from YouTube tutorials. At 10 years old, Isaac noticed that Lady Gaga had tweeted a list of producers she worked with, one of whom was French house producer Madeon. “I saw that he had this program called FL Studio,” he recalls. “I illegally downloaded it at a Barnes & Noble in Hyannis, Massachusetts. And that’s how I taught myself to produce music.”

At 12, Dunbar began to release his self-proclaimed “self-aware alternative-pop,” and quickly began building an audience. Since then, Dunbar has signed to RCA Records and relished Zane Lowe premiering his song “Pharmacy” on his Beats 1 show. Billboard referred to him as a “newly christened pop star” and applauded his “vulnerable bravery and artistic honesty” on his label debut, Isaac’s Insects. The “verifiable wunderkind” (PAPER), has earned additional praise from the likes of The FADER and Ones to Watch, and has toured the US, Europe and the UK supporting girl in red.

Vevo DSCVR focuses on the development of emerging artists, through performance content and careful curation. Vevo has a long history of helping emerging artists break through to new and wider audiences. Past alumnae of Vevo’s DSCVR series include Billie Eilish, dodie and Kiana Ledé. Vevo is committed to working with artists at an early stage of their career to create unique content that brings their music to life visually and provides exposure to new audiences through the platform. In addition to Vevo DSCVR, “boy” is now streaming on all platforms.

He and his troublemaking childhood best friend, Miles (Casal), work as movers, and when Collin witnesses a police shooting, the two men’s friendship is tested as they grapple with identity and their changed realities in the neighborhood they grew up in.
