CAMYLIO DROPS NEW SINGLE – SOMETIMES

Primed to leap from TikTok ubiquity to mainstream pop stardom, buzzing vocal phenomenon Camylio unveils his new single “sometimes” today via Republic Records—listen here.

On the track, Camylio’s voice glides over sparse synths laced with icy guitar, recounting memories from a frayed relationship. This minimalism gives way to vocal fireworks on the hook as he cries out, “Sometimes love just isn’t enough. Sometimes perfect couples break up. And I hope you find the love you can trust, but sometimes I just wish it was us.” Emotion bleeds through the cracks of his emotionally raw delivery.

Of the meaning behind the song, Camylio says, “At this point you’ve been broken up for a while, and the anger has faded. Your memory might be a little biased as you struggle to get used to being alone, but regardless, you miss them. You start going to all the places you used to go, partially out of nostalgia, partially to convince yourself that you’re moving on and can handle it. Whether you see them out on a first date at the coffee shop where you first met or just overhear the news from a mutual friend, you find out they’ve started seeing someone new. Ouch. The person you loved and imagined a future with is starting a future with someone else.”

He continues, “You’re happy for them, but at the end of the day you still wish they could have found happiness with you. It’s hard to watch someone you still love be with someone else, but some things just aren’t meant to be, and sometimes love just isn’t enough.”

“Sometimes” arrives on the heels of the singer, songwriter, and producer’s debut single “love and hate,” which has amassed over 3 million total streams to date. Right out of the gate, Variance Magazine assured, “his buzzworthy status online isn’t a fleeting one,” and noted, “Camylio leans in on his own vocals, delivering an emotional performance which has a Shawn-Mendes-meets-Dermot-Kennedy energy to it.” Alfitude predicted he “will undeniably hit the mainstream very rapidly,” and he left Sweety High so “blown away” they raved, “his voice is truly out of this world, and the lyrics of this single are heartbreaking, yet relatable.” “sometimes” and “love and hate” set the stage for Camylio’s forthcoming debut EP, all while he has impressively attracted 3.3 million TikTok followers and generated 38.7 million “likes” in the process.

Stay tuned for more music to come from Camylio soon!

About Camylio:
Clad in a classic black shirt against a dark backdrop, Camylio leans into his microphone, presses down on the ivory of his keyboard, and sings with enough passion and power to stir the world to its feet. It’s a scene meant for a stadium, but he’s in his bedroom framed by a smartphone camera yet beamed out to an audience of millions on social media. Throughout 2021, he performed like this at a dizzying pace and quietly emerged as a phenomenon renowned for a Richter Scale-registering voice. For his 16th birthday, his parents allowed him to choose either “a car or a laptop.” Thankfully, he chose the latter, spending countless hours pouring over song credits and learning how to produce via YouTube and Twitch. During November 2020, he launched his TikTok with one video daily. He filled an Amazon shopping cart with a $200 backdrop, ten black hoodies, ten black long-sleeve shirts, and five black short-sleeve shirts in order to maintain a consistent aesthetic. His cover of “Dusk Till Dawn” by Sia and ZAYN exploded with 7 million-plus views. Eventually, he broke the internet as his take on SLANDER’s “Love Is Gone” feat. Dylan Matthew generated north of 50 million views in under ten days. He caught the attention of Republic Records and signed to the label. After shaking the internet, the 20-year-old New York singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer properly introduces himself with a series of singles and his debut EP.

LOLA YOUNG’S NEW EP – AFTER MIDNIGHT

British star on-the-rise Lola Young’s brand-new EP, After Midnight, is out now on Capitol Records. Listen here. The four-track EP is accompanied by an official music video for the track “Bad Game,” which can be viewed here.

Previously sharing tracks “Blue” and “Pill or a Lullaby,” Young releases After Midnight in full today, showing herself at her most open and honest. The record tells the story of one night in Young’s life, tracing the hours between midnight and 5 a.m. Young moves from feeling confident and in control to gradually becoming more vulnerable and, eventually, entering a manic state of mind.

The EP is coupled with a beautifully shot short film due out imminently. Directed by Dumas Haddad, it features Young and a love interest, as well as spoken word accompaniment written for the film by the poet Thea Gajik. The film is set in an apartment at different stages of the night, showing her in varying mental states and winding its way through the story of the EP; with Young leaving nothing on the table.

Describing the EP, Lola Young says, “My thoughts, my worries, my past lovers and my present ones too, my guilt, my fears, my dreams, wishes and all the crazy ass thoughts I have when the sun rises and I can’t sleep for shit. After midnight. The truest form of me.”

Last month, she played a sold-out show at Camden Assembly in London. Young will perform at numerous summer festivals and tour the U.K. with Dermot Kennedy in September. View itinerary here.

Hailed as “a star on the rise” by ELLE UK, the 20-year-old artist is fiercely independent and uncompromising. As a live performer she is uncompromising – clearly showing the potential, spirit and individuality that makes her one of the UK’s most exciting new talents. Her work to date – the personal and powerful singles “Bad Tattoo,” “Ruin My Make Up” and “Woman,” her debut collection of tracks, Intro, and second release, the Renaissance EP – received support across the board from the likes of Billboard, Atwood Magazine, Wonderland, British Vogue, British GQ and CLASH Magazine.

After Midnight Tracklist:

  2. Blue (2AM)
  3. Bad Game (3AM)

Joy Oladokun – In Defense of My Own Happiness

Joy Oladokun debuts new song, judas, from the deluxe album in defense of my own happiness (complete).

Breakthrough singer, songwriter and musician Joy Oladokun’s new deluxe album, in defense of my own happiness (complete), is out today via Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records. The special extended edition includes all 14 tracks from her major label debut, in defense of my own happiness, as well as the ten additional songs from her self-released 2020 record, in defense of my own happiness (the beginnings), and one new track, judas.

In celebration of the new music, Oladokun will be featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered” this afternoon speaking with host Ari Shapiro, and recently made her debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert performing sunday from Nashville’s newly opened National Museum of African American Music.

Released last month via Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records, in defense of my own happiness finds Oladokun forging her own path, sharing the unique perspective she’s gained from living in today’s world as a black, queer woman and first-generation child of Nigerian immigrants. Born in Arizona and now living in Nashville, her musical exploration began at age ten when she was inspired to learn guitar after seeing a video of Tracy Chapman—the first time she’d ever seen a black woman play the instrument.

Recently named one of the “Best Albums of 2021 So Far” by Rolling Stone and Variety, and one of Billboard’s “Best Albums by LGBTQ Artists of 2021 So Far,” in defense of my own happiness features special collaborations with Maren Morris (Bigger Man), Jensen McRae (wish you the best) and Penny & Sparrow (heaven from here) and continues to receive widespread critical praise:

“She has a remarkable ability to distill how forces at work in the world…she can make even social and political protest feel like an intimate, warmly human act”—NPR Music

“a serious talent with a kind of low-key, casual ease…she’s always seeking out the light to point the way, making for one of the year’s most uplifting listens.”—Rolling Stone

“one of the hottest new singer-songwriters making music…surgical songwriting and soulful vocals that will send chills down your spine on each repeat listen.”—Billboard

“Joy Oladokun is a rare talent who manages to dissect Christianity, queerness, race and mental wellness with a delicate yet determined touch”—Vogue

“Oladokun’s message is not only timely, but essential.”—them.

“a stunning major label debut…any Nashville musician worth their salt should be pinching themselves to work with Oladokun, among the most exciting talents this city has seen in years.”—The Tennessean

“the rising singer-songwriter proves her worth as a master storyteller”—American Songwriter

Furthering her breakout year, Oladokun will tour throughout the fall including upcoming performances at Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits as well as several dates supporting Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and Dermot Kennedy.

Oladokun has continued to receive widespread attention in the past year, including recent performances of album track, breathe again, on NBC’s TODAY and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The song also received a key placement on NBC’s This Is Us, propelling the track to reach #3 on Shazam’s U.S. Top 200 while also charting globally. Additionally, Oladokun has been named a member of the inaugural #YouTubeBlack Voices Class of 2021, an NPR Music/Slingshot’s 2021 Artists to Watch, a Billboard LGBTQ Artist of the Month, Spotify’s RADAR US: Artists to Watch 2021, Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch 2021 and Vogue’s #1 New LGBTQ Artists to Listen to Now, and was recently highlighted as part of HULU’s “Your Attention Please: The Concert ” alongside 24kGoldn, Kiana Ledé, Lil Yachty, and Swae Lee. In addition to This Is Us, her music has been featured on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, ABC’s Station 19 and NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Oladokun also recently teamed up with the ever-popular life simulation game The Sims™ 4 as part of their first-ever in-game music event alongside Bebe Rexha and Glass Animals.

The track, titled “Headrush,” will play in sync with a lightshow produced by Playmodes Studio, the group behind the concept and audiovisual contents of Museum Fiasco’s current Cluster exhibitions, “Kernel,” “Railwave” and “Stellar.” The “Headrush” experience will play from 10 p.m. – midnight from Friday, May 14 through Sunday, May 30. “The debut of this incredible track from Meduza will serve as the first time a single has been released in a contemporary art museum as part of its launch,” said Ryan Doherty, museum curator.

Grammy 2020 nominees for “Best Dance Music Recording,” for their 2019 release ‘Piece of your Heart’, Meduza has spent the last two years leading the charge in returning house music to daytime radio. Meduza is the “Most Listened to” Italian artist on Apple Music and Spotify in history and the fastest growing Italian artists on YouTube, with over one million subscribers. Their debut release, “Piece of Your Heart,” featuring Goodboys, has over two billion streams globally, reaching the top 10 charts in more than 20 countries. In late 2020, Meduza released their third single “Paradise,” featuring Dermot Kennedy, which has accumulated over 500 million streams. The track entered the “Global Top 50” playlist on Spotify and has remained there for 15 weeks straight.

“We’re thrilled to have Meduza and Playmodes collaborate to make music and art accessible and interchangeable at Museum Fiasco,” said Doherty. “The music interacting with the sound and light features creates an unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait to welcome the public to this unprecedented show.”

“As techno music lovers, we feel inspired by the rhythms and sounds of Meduza’s new song, “Headrush,” said Eloi Maduell and Santi Villanova, founders of Playmodes Studio. “It is visual and emotive music which will shine at its best with the perfect companion of light, and we’re passionate to premiere this new experience for the Museum Fiasco and AREA15 audience.”

Museum Fiasco is located on the mezzanine of AREA15, the new immersive art, event and entertainment district. Dermot Kennedy – Giants

Global phenomenon DERMOT KENNEDY today releases the brand-new video for latest single ‘GIANTS’. The animated short, exclusively premiered by FLAUNT, follows the announcement of Dermot’s upcoming pay-per-view gig that’s to be performed at the Natural History Museum in London on July 30th. Watch the video HERE.

The animated video, created by Trizz Studios and directed by Oriol Puig, takes its cues from nature and creates a beautiful and surreal setting for Dermot’s lyrics to take shape and form their meaning.

On the thinking behind the video Puig said;

“We started with the simplest expression, a spark to ignite the journey. We then created a subject and we set it in constant motion, sometimes struggling through different situations, others stopping to enjoy moments of simple beauty, a metaphor for a constantly evolving life. Coronavirus has made people rethink their relationship to nature and how that affects our actions. It’s made us rethink and visualize the impact we have and how quickly nature is able to self-heal. This brings us to a new set of emotions and a new angle on what our priorities should be.”

Expanding on this, Dermot explains;

“Nature has long been a recurring influence for my music and to celebrate and explore the scale and beauty of the natural world with this video felt instinctive.

In this time of great uncertainty and as we are forced to acknowledge how fragile and complex life is, the journey this video takes is important figuratively and physically. Change is inevitable and necessary but also challenging. A new world and a new beginning underpin the message of the song and this video.”

‘Some Summer Night’ will be Dermot’s first proper live show since his headline US tour in March where he sold out New York’s prestigious Radio City Music Hall. The live-streamed event has already broken records in the UK, US, and Europe for the largest number of ticket sales for a pay-per-view gig of this scale. Dermot Kennedy – Giants

Today, Dermot Kennedy releases the brand new single “Giants,” the first new music since his #1 debut last year. “Giants” is available across all DSPs now.

When thinking about what “Giants” means to him in the wake of recent events, and what it could mean to other people, Dermot took inspiration from the poem “What if 2020 Isn’t Cancelled?” by Leslie Dwight. The poem highlights the need for change and how this year could serve as a wake up call.

Speaking on the track, Dermot says “Change hurts and growing hurts. Giants is a song about just that, steeped in bittersweet nostalgia. It’s about acknowledging our loss of youth and how time inevitably changes things. Yet in the same breath the song is an encouragement to be brave – individually, and collectively. Walking into an unknown future together can be beautiful just as much as it is scary. As events have unfolded over the last few months and have at times felt hopeless, this song has carried me through as a reminder that the future is still full of hope and there is opportunity in the darkness and a brighter future can await.

“I want people to listen to this song and hold on to that thought. Let go of the past and grab the change that is in front of us, and make it for the better. Even if it hurts. The time is now,” he continued.

Rescheduled live dates for Dermot’s North American Tour have also been announced for July & August 2021, with shows at Chicago’s Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom and Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre kicking off the North American dates, all rescheduled from August and September of this year.
