Mophie Powerstation XL

By Eamonn Burke

With so many public places being closed or unsafe due to COVID-19, people are lacking the ability to stop in somewhere for a quick charge. As a result, portable chargers such as the Morphie Powerstation XL are quickly rising in popularity.

The Mophie Powerstation XL is a state of the art portable charger with two universal USB ports for charging multiple devices at once. The biggest change from before: it now includes a universal plug, so that it is compatible with more devices than just Apple Products. With a 10,000mAh battery, the charger offers 48 extra hours of power, and it also charges fast, at speeds up to 2.1A. When connected to a power source, the charger will give your device priority before charging itself, and it will tell you how much current battery is left. All of these features give the ability to charge easily on the go, which all portable charges should provide. Additionally, the charger is sleek and small, with a sharp aluminum finish. Lastly, the Mophie Powerstation XL has management circuitry to protest against overheating and short-circuiting. The lithium-polymer batteries are also triple tested to ensure durability and quality.

Mophie also offers the Powerstation AC, which includes a 24,000mAh battery that can charge at up to speeds of 3A. Delivering 100W of power through its AC port, it’s capable of fully charging a MacBook. There is also a fast-charge feature that’s uses 30W for your USB-C laptop. Another USB-A port also allows quick charge at 2.4A speed. The Powerstation AC also offers priority charging and a power indicator, and is finished with a protective but comfortable fabric wrap.

As a cheaper alternative Mophie carries the Powerstation, with up to 2.1 full phone charges and a 18W output out of the USB-C port. The fast USB-C PD port charges a phone to 50% battery in just 30 minutes. The more powerful Powerstation XXL has up to 4.6 full charges, while at the same power output as the Powerstation with PD. The Powerstation XXL’s battery, however, is two times more powerful, at 20,000mAh as compared to 10,000. It can also charge 3 devices at once, whereas the Powerstation charges 2 at once.

Lastly, the Powerstation wireless stand has a 8,000mAh battery, a universal USB-C and USB-A port, and provides 18W of power from an output or wirelessly. It can provide up to 1.7 full charges, and can charge up to three devices at once. It can also switch easily between portrait and landscape display.

The Powerstation XXL was rated third most efficient among other battery packs by PCWorld. These Mophie products compare well to other top-of-the-like portable chargers on the market right now. These include:

Anker Powercore 20,100

20,000mAh battery, 2 USB-A ports.

Anker Powercore 10,000

10,000mAh battery, 1 USB-A port

Powerade Slim 2

DJI Mavic 2 Pro

By Jeff Langlois

The outdoors have become much more visually interesting in recent years, extending the vantage point of hikers, city-goers, and overall creatives alike. One central point of concern for landscape photographers is the weight of their packs, and how much equipment they’re willing to bring, versus the reward. The fact that an option for high-resolution aerial images can be nestled in the top compartment of a backpack is a technological revolution alone. Lifting a Hasselblad camera high in the air just a few years ago would have cost a pretty penny. Now DJI is doing just that with the Mavic 2 Pro, but at a modest price of $1,800.

One of the drone’s most impressive capabilities is reflected in conditions in which creatives can fly it. As every outdoorsman knows, the more scenic areas come often with high winds e.g., coastlines, high peaks, and sprawling deserts. While it’s easy for the wind to blow and disrupt a 32-ounce Mavic 2 Pro, the gimbal stabilization system counterbalances those tilts and turns to keep the 4K image smooth and steady. DJI offers a smart controller with a viewing screen, but when it’s important to preserve weight, plugging a smartphone into the basic controller will operate the drone to its full capacity.

There’s an option to purchase the Care Refresh Package to insure any damages on the drone for the year, so these creators can feel more comfortable pushing the envelope to get dynamic shots. This $150 yearly policy was good to have when shooting Ethan Solu surfing in Morro Bay, or capturing the unforgiving and exotic sand dunes of the Mojave Desert. The Mavic 2 Pro is proving to surpass expectations in terms of image quality, transportation, and price. Creatives are eager to see what DJI has in store for the future.

Spotlight – Don Benjamin

Multi-talented Don Benjamin transitions from modeling to music

→ Los Angeles, California June 2020 – After a successful modeling career and placing in the top three of hit modeling competition show, America’s Next Top Model (ANTM), Don Benjamin takes aim at the music industry.

Benjamin’s music isn’t the traditional mainstream rap we’re used to hearing. He hopes his music influences our society in a positive way. “I’m a fan of Drake and J Cole. Lately, I’ve been listening to more gospel rap, artists like Bizzle, Eshon Burgundy, and Lecrae [noted Christian rappers]. Music lately feels so negative. It’s all about doing drugs and degrading women. I need something that is gonna feed my spirit and motivate me to be a better person,”

Don Benjamin on distinguishing himself from the direction of current mainstream rap artists:  “I don’t feel like much rap nowadays spreads positivity. Most songs that take off aren’t really saying much of anything. I want to spread a good message.”

During this time of unrest, Benjamin has taken a stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and joined the music industries Blackout Tuesday. Other celebrities, including Beyoncé have used their social media platforms to demand justice for George Floyd and encourage their followers to take action.

Galaxy Fold

Galaxy Fold vs. Huawei Mate X vs iPhone: the ultimate foldable phones’ quest vs Apple’s legendary iPhone

Nike just did it again – the “dream crazier” campaign celebrates and revamps its JustDoIt slogan in a feminine way, 30 years after its debut Galaxy Fold vs. Huawei Mate X vs iPhone: the ultimate foldable phones’ quest vs Apple’s legendary iPhone

There they are, two bendable – or should we say foldable – mobile phones, launched within one weeks’ notice. Priced at premium level, they seem to be launched to create a positive halo effect to both Samsung and Huawei brands, and to overshadow Apple’s technological Iphone reign. Both foldable phones are intensely discussed on social media, showing that both brands experienced a noticeable launch and media outreach. But did they beat the eternal winner? What foldable phone had the lead?

Apple’s iPhone range grossed 2.2 million mentions in the last 7 days, compared to 1.2 million mentions for Samsung’s Galaxy range and 110,000 mentions for Huawei’s Mate range, clearly showing that Samsung and Apple are the only two real rivals in the mobile phone industry. Huawei seems to be a minor player.

On an engagement level, Samsung beat Apple’s iPhone by far, as the launch grossed 9.8 million engagements vs Apple’s 6.4 million engagements during the same period of time, which was – let’s be honest – without major Apple launch. Samsung’s folding phone was launched together with the new Samsung S10, empowered with K-Pop celebrity endorsement. This shows that in an innovation desert, a new folding phone gets major attention on social media, beating the giant during a short period of time.

Huawei’s Mate X reveal was less considered on the net on a world level: the Chinese electronics manufacturer’s bendable phone earned only 1.1 million engagements, which seems big but not relevant compared to the giants’ engagement levels for this new type of mass consumer good.

Posts with most engagements

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold movie (164,000 shares/likes, over 8 million views): the Verge announcing the launch date (35,100 shares/posts); the Tweet with the biggest impact was clearly a statement about the high price of the new phone (16,400 shares/likes).

Huawei’s Mate X had no major video reveal to showcase its launch, and the product reveal seemed to be accelerated due to Samsung’s reveal, so most of the outreaching posts were consumer or reviewer related. Consumer stating that Huawei’s phone was 5G compatible had spikes in engagements with 35,900 shares/likes and 2,2 million views and Huawei fans, like Japanese consumers’ posts, had 4,100 likes/shares.

Nike just does it again – the “dream crazier” campaign celebrates and revamps its JustDoIt slogan in a feminine way, 30 years after its debut

After a stormy February start, Nike released its new “Dream Crazier” ad during the 2019 Oscar broadcasting on Feb 24, celebrating female athletes in an emotional clip. The advertising, which is a sequel of the 2018 “Dream Crazy” campaign, highlights epic moments in women’s sports.

The brand itself grossed 551,600 mentions during the last two days, and 1,3 million engagements, and the slogan JustDoIt enjoyed a real revival: coming from zero mentions before the show, the baseline skyrocketed to a 12,000 mentions peak during the Oscars, consolidating 243,000 mentions and impressive 1,1 million engagements in the last two days.

Most relevant posts – the brand and its celebrity endorsement

The Nike brand post on Twitter got 603,100 shares/likes, and Serena William’s, as the ad’s lead, positive endorsement of the tweet was also greatly shared and liked (186,600 shares/likes).

The #justdoit hashtag got over 249,900 mentions during the last two days, compared to 16,600 for Nike during the same period, showing that hashtag lovers strongly embrace the brands’ claim.

Worldwide reach and gender

77.6% of the JustDoIt outreach was experienced in the US, showing that the brand has its biggest fans in the Unites States – and that the Oscars are still best enjoyed in the US.

62.5% of JustDoIt posts were published by women, underlining that Nike’s well targeted marketing towards ladies worked well.
