As Reebok continues to highlight its vast basketball archive through the likes of Allen Iverson’s Question and Answer lines, the disruptive Hurrikaze and Hurrikaze II, Dee Brown’s Pump Omni Zone II, and more, today the global sportswear brand has confirmed a September 23 return for Shaquille O’Neal’s coveted “Shaq Attaq” ($170/GX3881) sneaker, 30 years after its initial release.

Issued in ’92 for the larger-than-life rookie star, “Shaq Attaq” – created by former Reebok designer Judy Close – became Shaq’s first signature shoe. Combining new “Shaq” branding elements with innovative Reebok technologies like a custom-fit Pump bladder and carbon fiber footplate, the design put on display Reebok’s disruptive approach to performance footwear. Most importantly, the shoe provided Shaq with best-in-class comfort and stability on court as he tore down countless rims, backboards, and records.

On its 30th birthday, the shoe returns in near-1992 form, offering premium OG features including the combined Pump-lace closure, carbon fiber footplate, midsole-integrated crosscheck and side stripe, anodized synthetic collar, and Shaq ‘Dunkman’ branding at the tongue-back and heel.

Mayor Steven M. Fulop joins the Jersey City Municipal Council, the Office of Cultural Affairs, and Exchange Place Alliance to announce New Jersey’s July 4th Celebration!

The unparalleled annual Independence Day experience attracts nearly 150,000 residents and visitors from all over the region. The daylong event will be highlighted with performances by superstars Shaquille O’Neal aka DJ Diesel and Funk Flex, each taking the stage to DJ their own sets prior to this year’s ultimate headliner – Flo Rida – and capped off by Guinness World Record holder Fireworks by Grucci illuminating the sky over the Hudson River.

“We have superstar talent taking the stage leading up to our renowned fireworks by Grucci from two barges in the middle of the Hudson River to give spectators a 360-degree view with unparalleled backdrops from both New Jersey and New York,” said Mayor Fulop.

“We’re also focusing this year on supporting our local small businesses with our food truck festival beginning at 12 p.m. Admission is free and open to all ages. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the food, fireworks, and incredible entertainment along the Jersey City waterfront as we celebrate our nation’s independence.”

New Jersey’s July 4th Celebration at Exchange Place will open to the public at 12 p.m. on July 4th and end with the Grucci fireworks display, scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. In Jersey City, spectators can watch the fireworks show along the Hudson River Walkway, from the north field at Liberty State Park, and most overlook areas in The Heights.

After last year’s success, Jersey City Night Market will be organizing a food truck festival from 12 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. This year’s celebration will focus on reviving food businesses and bringing the community together.

Dancing With Myself

Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and actress Liza Koshy join international superstar Shakira as creators on Dancing with Myself, NBC‘s newest dance-challenge series. A premiere date for the hourlong series will be announced in the near future.

Inspired by the millions tuning in to watch the latest dance crazes on social media, Dancing with Myself will see a group of everyday people compete each week in a series of high-energy dance challenges designed and demonstrated by the show’s celebrity creators Shakira, Liza, and Shaquille. Isolated in their own pods, contestants have a short time to learn the new routines, add their unique flair, and perform their hearts out in front of a live studio audience. As each round of the competition progresses, the creators on the judging panel provide instant feedback and choose their favorites to advance, along with the audience picks. But ultimately, it’s the studio audience that decides who’s the best dancer of the night and gets to take home the cash prize.

Shakira, Liza, and Shaquille will perform the new dance challenges created specifically for the show, which the contestants will have to tackle.  They will also enlist the talents of guest celebrities who will submit their own challenges.

As an NBA Hall of Famer, longtime sports commentator, entrepreneur and spokesperson, Shaq‘s larger-than-life personality has captured the hearts of millions for years. His dance moves have become a regular trending topic on social media.

Co-creator, executive producer, and star of her own YouTube Originals series Liza on Demand, and seen recently co-hosting “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Special,” Koshy‘s humor and relatability to her legion of followers brings a fresh perspective to the lighthearted competition.

Model, actress and on-air correspondent Camille Kostek will join the trio as host. She began her career as an NFL professional cheerleader, performing routines at international events and teaching youth clinics. Kostek originally gained international prominence after landing the cover for the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine in her rookie year alongside Tyra Banks. Kostek is passionate about using her platform to continue spreading self-love and inner strength through her #nevernotdancing social initiatives, where she encourages fans to express body positivity & self-acceptance through dance. In her role as host, Camille will also demonstrate new dance challenges and perform with the other creators. About the event, Blueface said, “I grew up just down the street from World On Wheels. This is my home. Christmas is coming, and I’ve been blessed with so much. So, like that, I decided, boom, I’ve got to do something for everybody in my neighborhood. We’re going to give out some shoes. We’re going to have some pizza.
