ALLEN IVERSON × AUTHENTIC

Authentic Brands Group (Authentic), a global brand owner, development and entertainment platform, today announced that it has partnered with Allen Iverson to further develop his brand. Through the partnership, Authentic will focus on growing Iverson’s entertainment business, securing new endorsements and strategic partnerships, as well as consumer products that are as electrifying and original as the man himself.

Early in his career, Iverson’s outspoken nature and winning mentality earned him the nickname “The Answer,” which became the foundation for his longstanding relationship with Reebok. Through Reebok, which it acquired in February 2022, Authentic has an inherent link to Iverson who is in the 26th year of his lifetime partnership with the brand. “Authentic and I share a commitment to being number one and accepting nothing less,” said Iverson.

“Our shared values and their relentless drive to disrupt the branding industry make Authentic the ideal partner to take my brand to the next level.” Iverson is one of the most celebrated and sought-after athletes in the world. His confidence, original style and impact on the game have cemented his everlasting influence on culture. Iverson’s position as a style icon will serve as a building block to expand his brand in partnership with Authentic.

Authentic has a proven track record of building and elevating the long-term value of iconic athletes, personalities and brands. With Iverson, it will take a similar approach by tapping into the power of his global influence to galvanize his personal brand.

“Allen is a Hall of Famer and one of the most recognizable basketball players of all time,” said Marc Rosen, President, Entertainment, Authentic. “A trailblazer both on and off the court, Allen paved the way for professional athletes today and we see significant opportunities to build on that success.”

Spanning 14 seasons and seven All-NBA teams, Iverson had a long-term tenure with the NBA. He is regarded as one of the best scorers in NBA history, is an 11-time NBA allstar, won Most Valuable Player in 2001 and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

REEBOK THREE-COLORWAY

Reebok has revealed a three-colorway BB 4000 II “Changing of the Guard” ($90) pack, utilizing its newest heritage court shoe to celebrate the brand’s unique basketball heritage alongside icons Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson

“Changing of the Guard” delivers BB 4000 II in three honorary colorways:

  • White/Black/Blue (IG9953): Celebrating Reebok’s iconic “Shaq Attaq” basketball sneaker issued for Shaquille O’Neal and his rookie debut with Orlando in 1992.
  • Grey/Navy/White (IG9952): Remembering Allen Iverson’s alma matter, where it all began.
  • Red/Blue/White (IG9951): Paying homage to “A.I.”’s legendary pro career in Philly via their indistinguishable team colors.

This past fall, Reebok revived its BB 4000 II, a transcendent lifestyle basketball sneaker introduced in the late ‘80s as part of the brand’s disruptive “BB”  footwear range, which – through its irreverent product designs and campaigns – would inject new energy into basketball culture, helping to bridge the gap between hardwood and concrete in that era. Fitting for any modern wardrobe or lifestyle, the renewed BB 4000 II brings subtle value adds and an elevated construction to the highly-wearable silhouette at an accessible price point. Key design elements include premium leather overlays across the upper, Reebok side-stripe and cross-check branding, a unique split Union Jack tongue logo nodding 80’s brand heritage, an EVA rubber midsole, and a durable outsole featuring classic basketball tooling.

Reebok’s BB 4000 II “Changing of the Guard” collection is available from Reebok.com and Journeys beginning December 22, with pairs landing at Snipes, among other select retailers in January.

Reebok × Eames

Offered in three unique colorways, the Reebok x Eames Classic Leather ‘Fiberglass Pack’ ($120 – FZ5860, FZ5858, FZ5861) is available November 17 from Eamesoffice.com before its wider release November 19 from Reebok.com and select retailers.

Each colorway – Parchment, Sea Foam Green, and Pink – celebrates Eames’ original Molded Fiberglass Chair color options offered from the 1950’s to today.

More original chair colors appear on the insoles, which feature a 16mm print from the Eames archives taken on the set of the whimsical 1960 Eames film Kaleidoscope Jazz Chair. The traditional Classic Leather window box branding is replaced with a debossed ‘Eames’ signature that mirrors the authentication branding that can be found on the underside of Molded Fiberglass Chairs. Each shoe comes with a collectible keychain of an Eames DAX (dining-height armchair with X-shaped base) in the same color as the upper.

CONCEPTS × Reebok

Reebok and Boston-based sneaker-streetwear boutique Concepts confirmed the release of their collaborative Question Mid paying homage to Allen Iverson’s ’96 draft class, his first signature shoe, and the opening of Concepts’ first store that same year. The Concepts x Reebok Question Mid ($170, GZ6151) is available October 21 exclusively from Concepts before its wider global release on October 22 from Reebok.com and select fashion retailers.

With Iverson taking the lead, the ’96 draft class proved to be one of the league’s best of all time, stacked with top-tier talent, many of whom would go on to become hoop legends in their own right. That same year, Concepts would open its doors for the first time, bringing together within a unique retail experience the worlds of street, skate, and fashion.

“Having partnered with Reebok in the past, it’s a full circle moment, but also the biggest to date in our storied history,” commented Concepts founder and CEO, Tarek Hassan. “The significance of the Question model goes beyond design. Both Iverson and Reebok took a chance on one another, and Concepts has never taken the easy route.”

The Concepts x Reebok Question Mid leverages a bold, multi-color execution to honor the decorated class of ’96 and the start of culture-shaping story arches for both Concepts and Iverson.

Shipping within special packaging that tributes a favorite Concepts’ vintage ad, key design elements making up the shoe include an OG red toe box, a mixed materials (leather, synthetic, textile) upper, a custom “Have You Seen Him” sock liner, asymmetrical “9” (left) and “6” (right) graphics on the heel, Concepts x Reebok logo lockup at the Achilles, and an OG ice-rubber outsole shielding an asymmetrical interlocking Concepts logo.

While the design dives deep into Iverson as a rookie and his outstanding draft class, the hidden – or not so hidden – meaning is that it’s unapologetically loud, a nod to AI’s style,” continued Hassan. “We couldn’t collaborate on Question without inserting some aspect of how impactful he was off the court. We favored the risk taker, so it’s not for the faint of heart.”

Reebok – Question Mid “Blue Toe”

Reebok has officially announced an August 19 return for its historic Question Mid “Blue Toe” ($50-$160), a noteworthy colorway of Allen Iverson’s first signature basketball shoe introduced during his standout ’96-’97 rookie season.

Reebok’s original Question Mid would arrive in 1996 at the heart of a basketball footwear revolution, but the brand’s pitch to a young and hopeful Allen Iverson was about much more than a sneaker – it was about their commitment to “A.I.”

“It was a dream come true,” recalled Iverson. “It was close to the same feeling of when you get drafted. Only a certain amount of people have their own signature shoe; that really means you’re special.”

Question Mid has since established itself as one of sneaker history’s most meaningful silhouettes, a representation of Reebok basketball heritage, and a model of sport culture’s greatest legacy.

Succeeding its “OG” predecessor that season, Question Mid “Blue Toe” took center stage on a March night in ’97 as Philly’s highlight-reel rookie point guard, Allen Iverson – wearing the shoe – famously “crossed up“ one of basketball’s greatest players. A symbol of Iverson’s fearless athleticism, that historic moment lives on in the soles of an iconic sneaker.

25 years later, Question Mid “Blue Toe” returns packed with original design elements including a tumbled leather upper, blue pearlized leather toe box, ice rubber outsole, ghillie lacing system, embroidered Vector logos, iconic “Q” heel logo, and a custom rookie Iverson sock liner arriving in OG-inspired Question packaging.

Reebok’s Question Mid “Blue Toe” returns globally August 19 in full-family sizing (Adults/GX0227/$160, Juniors/GY8820/$100, Kids/GY8824/$75, Infants/GY8825/$50) from Reebok.com/US/BasketballFoot LockerChamps SportsHibbett, and other select retailers. Reebok UNLOCKED members will receive one-day early access on August 18, while sneaker boutique Packer is slated to release a limited number of pairs in-store and online August 12.

Reebok × AI

Reebok have confirmed a June 24 release for Allen Iverson’s 2001 game 5 player-exclusive Answer IV, marking the first revival of this particular black/white iteration ($160, FY9691) since that season.

The shoe – a direct colorway bring back of Iverson’s ‘01 finals game 5 pair – released globally in 2021, pre-empting a summer 2022 stateside launch.

Classic features include a rubber outsole with DMX branding, OG underfoot tooling with an embedded Iverson face logo, ribbed heel underlay, sublimated I3 tongue print, a smooth upper vamp, and the hallmark zipper shroud.

Reebok × Myles Garrett

Reebok announced a new long-term partnership with all-pro defensive end Myles Garrett, which will bring new energy to the brand’s lifestyle and performance categories across classics, running, cross-training, and heritage basketball. As a Reebok athlete, Garrett will play an integral role in key marketing campaigns and product innovation for performance designs, while providing product feedback and footwear testing for future models.

“Growing up admiring all-time greats like Allen Iverson, Shaq, and Shawn Kemp I’m extremely excited to be joining the Reebok family,” commented Garrett. “I really pride myself on having a lot of interests off the field so to be working with a brand that promotes individuality and encourages people to pursue the things that bring them joy is incredible. I’m looking forward to showcasing more of who I am on and off the field to help better establish the brand in performance and lifestyle.”

The announcement follows the launch of Reebok’s “Life is Not a Spectator Sport” campaign that encourages people to pursue their passions, celebrate their individuality and become active participants in the world around them.

“Myles Garrett is one of those incredible all-around athletes who could be a standout in any sport—he just happened to choose football,” commented Caroline Machen, Vice President, Global Brand Marketing at Reebok. “We’re thrilled to welcome Myles to the Reebok family and shine a light on our shared ethos and passion for sport, fitness, fashion, pop culture, and activism. As we embark on an exciting new era here at Reebok, Myles will be a key player in bringing his own unique energy and story to our next chapter.”

During Cleveland’s 2022 all-star weekend last month, Garrett made his first official appearance with the brand at its “Bok Door” event, helping to launch the commemorative Question Mid 25th Anniversary and all-new Instapump Fury Zone.

Throughout 2022, fans can expect to see Garrett supporting key Reebok products across sport and lifestyle including the Classic Leather, Nano, Floatride, Question, Pump, and more.

Retrofuture Cleveland All-Star Experience

Reebok has confirmed its return to all-star February 18-19, where the brand will offer Cleveland 2022 attendees an immersive retrofuture “Bok Door” experience showcasing the upcoming Question Mid 25th Anniversary and brand new Instapump Fury Zone. The RSVP-only event takes place in downtown Cleveland and will welcome Reebok friends like Myles Garrett, Dee Brown, Allen Iverson, Shaquille O’Neal, and more, over the weekend.

Showing just a few weeks after the launch of its new “Life is Not a Spectator Sport” campaign, Reeboks’ 2022 all-star experience will pull attendees into a sneaker-culture “time machine” exploring the brand’s heritage and future.

“Pump, Question, Fury—Reebok is legendary in basketball and sneakers, so I’m happy to work with the brand in telling its story in Cleveland,” commented all-pro football player and Reebok partner, Myles Garrett. “This is a big weekend for the city. I hope to see tons of fans and friends at the festivities, and look forward to hanging with the Reebok community, playing games, showing some cool new shoes, and just having a good time.”

The activation will first take guests back to the 90s vintage sneaker store scene, highlighting Reebok’s basketball heritage through Allen Iverson’s iconic Question Mid and the upcoming Question Mid 25th Anniversary, a silver iteration dropping February 17th. This 25th “Silver Anniversary “Question Mid marks the final installment of a year-long celebration of Iverson’s prolific ’96 rookie season and his first signature Reebok shoe–one that has forever changed sneaker history and basketball culture.

Visitors will then be catapulted decades into the future through the “Bok Door” and a transformative space mixing iconic Reebok basketball moments and technologies. These elements and storylines will come together to present the all-new Instapump Fury Zone—dropping February 19th—that offers a modern interpretation of Instapump Fury design language, paired with Pump technology, and built for the modern-day blacktop with style and comfort all-in-one. In this futuristic space, guests will enjoy Reebok hoops-inspired activities, video games, exclusive custom gear, and appearances by brand partners.
