Armon describes his career aspirations regarding AOHSOA: “I’ve always dreamed of being an entrepreneur in the retail/fashion industry. In addition to feeding my own design sweet tooth, I enjoy developing design ideas and working with others to help them fulfill their own creative dreams. I have married these passions with the creation of Ace of Haze Style of Ace (AOHSOA) in 2017. Armon originally worked his way up in the retail industry, and now has created his own brand. He explains his journey to reaching his current achievements: “To me, success is measured as any opportunity from which I’ve had to learn and grow. In 2015/2016, before creating AOHSOA, I had the opportunity to participate in a spring product review when employed by True Religion as a store director. This experience sparked ideas in me for my future and gave me a raw understanding of the inner workings of a successful brand. My creativity and marketing sense was ignited in a way that I still look back on with gratitude. This experience led me to working as the assistant stylist for Toure Designs’ fashion show in 2018. At the fashion show, I had an idea that I felt would elevate a look just moments before the model was to walk the runway: having the model walk while shirtless. Fortunately, it was a very well received style suggestion. In that moment, I learned to trust my instincts, which has helped, and will continue to help, my endeavors with AOHSOA.

“More recently, I worked on several projects with independent recording artist, LaJune. As her personal stylist and creative director for three years, this is truly a passion project. During the pandemic, we collaborated on two live performances and two music videos. Additionally, we worked on an editorial shoot featuring Land Rover’s Defender to be featured in 360 Magazine. More recently, I hosted my second pop-up shop activation, The Bodega. The relaxed shopping event featured AOHSOA trunk options, and introduced a new assortment of blouses & dresses called “Onesie”. The one-size-fit-most offerings were a success, selling out of samples and having many orders placed. 2020 highlighted my need to develop a multifunctional living space, which has been an integral piece to my growth and development as a business owner. With the help of talented friends, family and supporters, we developed a space for myself and other creatives to come to develop their art and conduct business, with a twist. This living space has proved successful for both LaJune, AOHSOA, and my partners, as they may continue working, producing and creating safely during the uncertainty. The space, #360TRAP, has led to invaluable collaborations and partnerships.”

“While the pandemic has weighed heavy on small business owners, Armon found a way to take advantage of his downtime. He continues explaining how 2020 affected his career path and personal vision: “The pandemic has helped me realize the need for businesses and artists to pivot and evolve in order to overcome challenges. It became important to use the down time of lockdown wisely so that I wouldn’t lose the momentum I’ve generated, nor plateau creatively. I found myself unemployed and unable to operate AOHSOA in the traditional way. However, I felt even more committed to making AOHSOA successful and on the front lines of a movement of change. With the time the pandemic afforded me to commit myself to this passion full-time, I developed my administrative and brand management skill set in preparation for a resurgence. Additionally, the social justice movement gave people like myself an opportunity to reflect on the times and ways in which we can impact the world and its ecosystem. AOHSOA is committed to progress in diversity and inclusivity – it’s who we are. Expressing myself creatively supported me with a clearer perspective, and more importantly, an outlet for my process. I began sewing more, creating merchandise, and focusing on building my inventory and my social presence through blogging. I strategized around ensuring AOHSOA could survive and thrive in a pandemic, and set goals for the next six months. After creating a space, #360TRAP, in partnership with 360 Magazine, I developed concepts and ideas that mutually benefitted my business and my clients. I grew my client list and increased sales by $515 over this time last year. I honed in on social media engagement, adding a layer to my brand by sharing lifestyle aspects via my blog. On the blog, I discuss all things fashion, music and lifestyle, with elements of design. I am also working toward evolving this business into a bespoke brand with customized curations, as well as capsule fashion.

“As a precursor to World Blood Day and my birthday in June 2021, AOHSOA hosted a pop-up shop called the Bodega that featured several clients and sponsors. These collaborators included Respire by Design, The 6th Clothing Co., a local NYC tattoo artist,  Chinelos Tacos NYC food truck, CocoOil, and Zavor. The event was a direct response to realign and reconnect with my community post-isolation. I continued to develop concepts for LaJune, including a streetwear collection of merchandise for her third EP, Mind. The merchandise collection is titled #mindmerch, and has been made available to her fans and supporters of AOHSOA. Our partnership, live performances, and music videos led to a collaboration with Viacom and a video shot at Smash Studios. These challenging times have taught me to pivot (sometimes at a moment’s notice), adjust, and be consistent in executing my plans. Having a network of talented supporters and friends has allowed for delegation and shared responsibilities, and most importantly, resources. All of these efforts resulted in a 47% increase in site sessions over 2020, with 51% representing unique visitors retaining 38% of existing traffic. As we enter the fourth quarter of this year, at my digital shop we anticipate an increased in traffic shy of 26% of last year’s visitors. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, I committed myself to elevating my brand with proven success. I embrace future challenges with an open heart because I know they will only make me smarter and stronger.”

Armon continues to work to grow his innovative, fashionable design brand, Ace of Haze Style of Ace. Through conducting SWOT analyses and evaluating his business practices, Armon looks to the future with determination and his signature creative flair. He is committed to inclusivity and actively works to pay forward his successes. Armon looks to use the platform AOHSOA has granted him to continue to pursue his own dreams, and help others do the same. He looks to not only building his brand empire, but also giving back to his community through charitable endeavors and his design abilities. Through creating opportunities for and mentoring the next generation of future fashion entrepreneurs, Armon aims to aid other young creatives in finding their own personal brands.

In describing his brand’s business model, Armon remarks that ” I believe that newly formed corporations should add activations for their diverse team members to feel comfortable and accepted no matter their color, creed, belief, sexuality or religion, and I aim to have AOHSOA be a leader in this effort. I want to position my organization to reflect the “Ballroom” culture within the LGBTQ community, by fostering a movement in life & style and allowing creatives a safe space to hone their skills and talents while they build their network. I am also looking forward to becoming more active in charitable endeavors, specifically working with kids/teens to help them find their brand within.”

Robert Ector Releases Luxury Greeting Cards

Luxury fashion photographer Robert Ector has recently launched his exclusive collection of luxury greeting cards. The selection consists of 25, 5” x 7” custom greeting cards, which feature Ector’s incredible eye for photography and design. Black, offset envelopes are included to encase each salutation. Ornate gold foil stamping encases the stationary, and the meme-worthy verbiage makes for a memorable address. The assortment also comes with laminated art paper. Make your statement with a statement using these high-end greetings.

Last year, Ector released his photo book, “DETAILS: City Streets Are The Real Runways.” The text features over 400 full color photographs of some of the most expensive fashion pieces in the world, luxury street wear, and street photography. Ector, famous for his creative direction for A-list celebrities such as Steve Harvey, Wendy Williams, Lala Anthony and Mary J. Blige, showcases incredible individuals donned in even more fabulous fashion on every page. Readers are sure to become enthralled and won’t be able to stop flipping through mesmerizing 650 pages.

Fashion iconoclast and multi-talented artist Mary J Blige wrote the foreword for the text, as well as attended its NYFW launch. The two have shared an artistic relationship for years. Recently, Ector was also the promotional shoot photographer for Blige’s Netflix docu-series, “My Life.” The documentary series was named after Blige’s earlier album which has the same title. Alongside Ector’s stunning photography, the series features executive production from Puff Daddy (aka, Sean “Puffy” Combs) and executive music production from Quincy Jones. Commentary from Diddy, Taraji P. Henson, and Alicia Keys is also included in “My Life.”

Another of Ector’s previous photo projects includes shooting our magazine’s cover of Tamar Braxton. As Ector continues his artistic endeavors, we look forward to seeing what is next to come from the accomplished artist.

Adidas x ICY PARK

The third collection of the Adidas x IVY PARK collaboration, coolly dubbed “ICY PARK,” is sure to freeze sneakerheads in their tracks in awe. Advertised with snowy slopes and alpine adventures, the collaboration features a host of ultra-chill, fashionable, and inclusive garments and footwear. The new collection sold out almost immediately after its prior internet release on January 25th, and flew off in-store shelves just as quickly. The third Adidas x IVY PARK collection will be released on February 19th online, and on February 20th in stores.

The ICY PARK collection includes a variety of outerwear options, as well as five new styles of IVY PARK sneakers. The collection is incredibly inclusive, with a range of clothing size options from XXXS-4X including: women’s tight fit, women’s regular fit, women’s oversized, gender-neutral regular fit and gender-neutral oversized. Further, the expansion of the IVY PARK sneaker line introduces the IVY PARK Ultra Boost, Forum Lo, Forum Mid, and Super Sleek sneakers. Finally, the IVY PARK Super Sleek Boot boasts comfort and ski-ready style.

Further, several apparel and accessories emblazoned with the IVY PARK monogram will also be released in the collection. These include an IVY PARK ski pass, water bottle, lanyard, face cover, and press-on nail polish stickers.

IVY PARK LLC, while a small company consisting of just ten employees, has generated $2.80 million in sales. The owner of the company, Beyonce, has commented in a statement:

“It’s a dream come true to re-launch IVY PARK as the sole owner.”

In 2016, Beyonce had originally partnered with clothing line Topshop, but sexual harassment claims about the company’s owner, Philip Green, caused her to pull the line. Queen Bey regained sole control of IVY PARK after purchasing back shares from Green in 2017, and is now looking toward the company’s future with more optimism than ever. Beyonce’s collaboration with Adidas impressively marks her as the first Black woman to be the sole owner of an athleisure brand.

Beyonce advertised the collection in a commercial with Adidas, in which she wears a jewel-encrusted helmet with light-reflective outerwear garments, among a host of other equally encapsulating outfit choices, mostly revolving around cold weather gear. The shoot also features several shots of snowy mountains, notable artists and models such as Hailey Beiber, Gucci Mane, Kaash Paige, Akesha Murray, Shi Gray, and Kyla Coleman on ski lifts, and Beyonce herself romping around in a whimsical winter wonderland.

Adidas’ collaborations with Kanye and Beyonce have boosted the company’s popularity, threatening Nike with some major clout and competition. Adidas reports that the company predicts the success of IVY PARK will eventually surpass the sales of Kanye’s 2015 Yeezy launch. Senior footwear analyst at NPD Group, Matt Powell, commented on the predicted success of Beyonce’s brand:

“Initially, IVY PARK will be smaller than Yeezy, but IVY PARK has the potential to be larger, if managed properly”, he continues, [the] “best way to build a brand is to have it sell out,” he says. “Scarcity drives demand.”

It is likely that the third IVY PARK collection will sell out as quickly as its first two iterations when it is released on February 19th via the Adidas online shop, and February 20th in stores. To view the collection, please visit Adidas’s website.

BEYONCÉ x ADIDAS

Beyoncé first collaborated adidas with her launch of Ivy Park. Now, the singer is back with a new collaboration. On September 18 the Beyoncé x adidas Superstar Platform will be released and available to purchase through the adidas App.

This shoe is a reinterpretation of the adidas Superstar, “however, the tooling begins to sculpt to a platform shape, bearing in tow an aggressive, near brutalist aesthetic. The midsole, though partly left untouched, quickly begins to protrude out, extending from all sides as it does in height,” Sneaker News described.

The adidas website describes the launch as “The meeting of two icons: Beyoncé lends her elegance and perspective to the iconic silhouette for the 50th anniversary of the Superstar.”

Teen Vogue recapped the history of Ivy Park, stating that the brand, “relaunched just last April with adidas where they would be collaborating, but also Beyoncé would be designing her own sportswear apparel and footwear for the brand, which includes the classic sneakers.”

This remake of the Superstar is the first of its kind by reshaping the shoe and adding a platform. This isn’t the first time Beyoncé has repurposed the classic adidas style to brand them with her Ivy Park line. Earlier this year, she launched four shoes with the brand. “All showcasing the collection’s bold styling, and incorporating utilitarian details,” adidas announced, and adding never seen before colors to the brand.

The sneakers, however, were reportedly leaked prior to their original release date but this doesn’t seem to be bothering Queen Bey too much as she was seen enjoying a vacation in Croatia on a $2 million a week yacht.

While the Ivy Park name already holds its own in the fashion industry and pop culture, collaborating with adidas is its newest mark in the industry. The brand first launched in 2016 and was cofounded with TOPSHOP founder, Sir Philip Green, but Beyoncé is now the sole owner after Green faced sexual harassment allegations in 2018, according to BBC.

The singer originally alluded to her collaboration in the January issue of ELLE Canadae, which 360 Magazine covered. With new magazine covers, movies, music and fashion, this year has been busy for Queen Bey.

The singer released a visual album, “Black is King” earlier this year which was a revival of “The Lion King.” Beyoncé was also recently enlisted by the United Nations, along with other celebs, “a film promoting actions to tackle the world’s biggest issues from the COVID-19 pandemic to poverty and inequality” according to USA Today.

It is no surprise to her fans that the singer is staying booked and busy, and are anticipating her latest drop with adidas.

The shoe’s which drop today, September 18 on the adidas app, cost $200 US dollars. Through the app customers can purchase the shoe, or enter a giveaway which closes on the drop date to win themselves a pair of the exclusive sneaker.

ADIDAS ORIGINALS CELEBRATES BASKETBALL HERITAGE AND NEW YORK CITY WITH RIVALRY

adidas Originals reinvigorates an iconic silhouette that pays homage to an era of basketball legends

Following a long-standing lineage of basketball silhouettes over the past several decades, adidas Originals continues to honor the sport’s heritage with the special re-issue of Rivalry in New York City last night. Revitalizing a peak era of New York basketball, which spearheaded a communal spirit of fierce pride, the cult classic is for lovers of basketball style on and off the courts. Returning in all its glory, adidas Originals teamed up with notable sportswear designer Eric Emanuel to debut the latest Rivalry model, inspired by New York’s undying passion and love for sports.

The shoe was celebrated through a pop-up gallery exhibition curated by Emanuel, showcasing the indisputable influence of basketball style into the realms of fashion, art, photography and more. The blank space was transformed into an interactive gallery covered in gritty, city-inspired installations that bought the shoe to life through the works of photographer Brock Fetch, mixed media artist, Tyrrell Winston and creative collective, NY Sunshine.

In true Big Apple style, Rivalry wheat paste posters drenched the exhibition entrance, surrounded by a canopy of scaffolding and sneakers hung from wires. Guests then walked through an exclusive showcase of collaborator works that included photography, installations, and a product showcase. On view was the latest iteration of the Rivalry Hi-Top, accompanied by both an archival silhouette from 1986 and a preview of what’s to come from the three stripes brand and Emanuel later in the year.

Staying true and honoring its predecessors, the latest Rivalry iteration will feature premium leathers that nod to the famous “Team Series” from the late 80s. The model stands out in a bold blue and orange colorway with adidas branding emblazoned on the tongue.

Today, adidas Originals will open the gallery up to the men’s and women’s basketball team from local New York school, High School of Fashion Industries, as well as the general public from 12:00 pm through until 5:00 pm. The surrounding streets of the exhibit will also play host to adidas street scalpers handing out admission tickets to the pop-up where guests have the chance to grab a limited edition Rivalry-inspired t-shirt designed by Eric Emanuel.

The Rivalry High OG will be available at select adidas retailers on Friday, February 8th and will retail for $110 USD.
