SAM RYDER — “JULY”

Sam Ryder has debuted his stunning new single “July,” which is available now via Parlophone Records/Elektra Records.

“July” sees Ryder reunited with his “Tiny Riot” writing partners Amy Wadge (Grammy-award winning writer for Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”) and Max Wolfgang. The stripped-back piano intro perfectly showcases the full range of Sam’s powerful voice, which soars throughout the song.

Sam says of the track, “July is all about seeing the light after a period of darkness. Whether we’re watching the blooms waking up outside in nature or experiencing an inner awakening after the longest year, I think we’re all ready to say hello, July.

“July” follows the success of Sam’s previous singles “Whirlwind” and “Tiny Riot,” which topped iTunes charts worldwide and have racked up tens of millions of global streams and over 4.5 million YouTube views. He recently performed his debut show from London’s York Hall to an online audience of nearly 50,000 viewers.

Sam has spent much of his adult life touring, writing and performing in bands before embarking on this new chapter as a solo artist. As the world was being put into lockdown in March, he uploaded the first of his now infamous covers. They quickly caught the attention of some famous fans (think Justin Bieber, Sia, Alicia Keys and Elton John) with compilations of his videos appearing on The Ellen Show, BBC’s Newsbeat and more. As the videos kept coming, so did the fans—with his socials standing at over 13 million followers to date and hundreds of thousands of comments. Sam rounded-off his incredible year with TikTok crowning his account as the most popular UK artist account of 2020.

Sam has spent the last few months writing and recording original songs with some of the finest writers and producers from around the world as he prepares to release his debut EP, which is set to continue his meteoric rise.

“Last year, we were booked at LOCKN and we were so excited to perform on that legendary stage for the first time. We were all pretty disappointed after the festival was canceled so it’s an honor to be invited back to the farm for our own event,” said Goose’s Peter Anspach (Guitar, Keys, Vocals). “Along with an amazing lineup of incredible bands, we have a ton of surprises planned and we can’t wait for all of you to #getinvolved.”

FRED the Festival will also mark a long-awaited return to the stage for Vasudo for the first time since the summer of 2013. Regarded as Goose’s musical predecessor, the roots/rock/reggae band features Rick Mitarotonda (Guitar, Vocals), Matt Campbell (Keys, Vocals), Peter Anspach (Keys, Vocals) Trevor Weekz (Bass), and Jeff Arevalo (Drums). Also returning from an extended hiatus for a Friday late-night set is ElephantProof, a four-piece jazz/funk/EDM project formed at Berklee College of Music by Ben Atkind (Drums), Sean Cronin (Guitar), Shon Gordon (Bass) and Chris Enright (Keys).

Goose recently released the third song from their eagerly awaited new album, SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB out tomorrow, Friday, June 4The 10-minute odyssey the band is calling “Madhuvan” is a live show staple of late that the band shortened for the studio version. Though half as long here, the song still captures the travelogue aesthetic that has made it a fan favorite. Classically Goose in that its groove is as deep as its sense of melody is indelible, “Madhuvan” references the story of Dhruva and his quest for enlightenment, originally written in the Bhagavata Purana. The song is an exploratory journey, examining life’s most beautiful offerings and most dangerous pitfalls.

“The underlying idea is questioning what you’re pursuing and that, ultimately, true fulfillment often comes from something other than outer acquisition,” says guitarist/vocalist Rick Mitarotonda.

SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB is Goose’s second studio LP and first full-length collection in more than five years. It was heralded in March with the release of its first song, “Spirit of the Dark Horse.” In April, the band released “So Ready.” Hitting that sweet spot where rock met disco in the late 70s, the slinky funk pocket groove of “So Ready,” made indelible by its catchy wide lapel melody lines and liquified guitars, is available now at all DSPs and streaming services. An animated official music video that harkens back to the feverish Saturday nights of the dancing days of yesteryear is available for streaming via Goose’s YouTube channel.

SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB follows the recent release of Goose’s remarkable cover of Vampire Weekend’s “2021 (January 5th, to be exact),” featured on Vampire Weekend’s new 40:42 EP and available now at all DSPs and streaming services. Personally commissioned by Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig  a longtime Goose fan with the only directive to make it twenty minutes and twenty-one seconds long, the expansive track is accompanied by a full-length performance video, streaming now via YouTube. Relix magazine just published an interview between the band and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. Read it HERE.

WATCH GOOSE x VAMPIRE WEEKEND’S “2021 (JANUARY 5TH, TO BE EXACT)”

Hailed by Billboard for their “penchant for innovation and creativity during the pandemic,” Goose debuted some of the new SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB songs during a series of socially distant live dates beginning May 3 and 4 at Frederick, MD’s Showtime At The Drive-In and then hitting North Charleston, SC’s Riverfront Park (May 6) and Pelham, TN’s The Caverns Above Ground Amphitheater (May 8 and 9). All five dates completely sold out after unprecedented demand; limited tickets remain for shows at Silver Lake Drive in Perry, NY (June 15 and 16) and Legend Valley in Thornville, OH (June 18 and 19). For updates and complete details, please visit goosetheband.com/tour.

An ode to oft-forgotten vestiges of Goose’s musical journey, both personal and collective, SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB marks the apex of a rich history between friends of differing ages and experiences from the same small town in Connecticut, drawn together through a deep love of music and storytelling. Songs like the tectonic “Labyrinth” and the ruminative deep-dive, “SOS,” fluidly traverse genres with head-spinning hooks, technical fireworks, and the kind of rare chemistry only possible among truly close collaborators.

“While we’ve been touring, the record has been happening in the background,” says Mitarotonda. “It’s been quite the process. At times, it was difficult. The record is a companion to those growing pains.”

Goose made their remarkable debut with 2016’s Moon Cabin and quickly took flight, playing countless shows while steadily amassing a fervent nationwide following. Years of relentless touring culminated in a string of milestone festival performances during the summer of 2019, highlighted by a now-legendary performance at Scranton, PA’s annual Peach Fest (streaming in its entirety HERE). Further touring followed, including a completely sold-out fall headline run and hastily scheduled dates at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg in January 2020, both of which proved instant sell-outs.

2019 and 2020 also saw Goose return to the studio for a series of extraordinary single releases, collected on last year’s NIGHT LIGHTS EP (available HERE). The tracks mastered by the first-ever female GRAMMY Award winner for “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical,” Emily Lazar (Sia, Clairo, Haim) exhibit a fully unified live outfit eager to showcase and develop their studio voice.

Due in part to their trademark inclination for improvisation, Goose was able to creatively navigate the myriad challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. A succession of intimate virtual performances culminated with the unprecedented “Bingo Tour,” a two-week live streaming event featuring four unique concerts with setlists determined by the outcome of a live Bingo game. Held at a bucolic private property in Fairfield County, CT, the interactive performances were captured for posterity in the full-length concert film, Bingo Tour, joined by an exclusive 55-minute behind-the-scenes documentary and available to rent or download HERE.

Fall 2020 saw a welcome return to live performance with a slew of sold-out drive-in shows across the Northeast, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions. Propelled by seemingly unstoppable momentum, Goose wrapped up the year with their seventh annual Goosemas holiday benefit concert, streamed live from a rooftop in New York City’s Rockefeller Center to over 50K fans exclusively via Twitch’s new RelixChannel. The epic 3-hour performance which raised over $45,000 for NIVA’s Save Our Stages and Conscious Alliance  can be viewed now at the official Goose YouTube channel HERE; a full-length audio recording is available via Bandcamp HERE.

“Our dream is to inspire people to step off the beaten path,” says Mitarotonda. “There are a lot of voices that tell you to play it safe. I think the coolest thing in the world is when someone breaks free and goes for whatever weird shit they dream of doing.”

Goose is Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar), Peter Anspach (vocals, keys, guitar), Trevor Weekz (bass), Ben Atkind (drums), and Jeff Arevalo (vocals, percussion, drums).

Command Sisters – Feel Good

Command Sisters released a brand new single titled “Feel Good” through 21 Entertainment/Universal Music Canada/Republic Records.

You can hear the song by clicking right here.

Command Sisters comprises of sisters Charlotte and Sarah Command, who are looking to turn popular culture red. The two built a distinct sound and style that set them apart from everyone else when they were just children.

Sarah Command was inspired by guitar players like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Orianthi while Charlotte Command pulled from Sia and The Weeknd. Combining the styles of the two gave the duo a sharp sound that combines pop vocals with edgy instruments.

They don’t just pull audiences in with their music. They’ve carefully cultivated a look that matches their music, using high fashion to attract attention.

To this point in their careers, they’ve played all over the United States and Canada, and they’ve partnered with the likes of Martin Guitars, PRS Guitars, Marshall Amps, MAC Cosmetics and Boss/Roland.

They’ve also mastered social media posting high quality content daily.

The release of “Feel Good” comes right off the release of “Lonely Lullaby” and the debut singles from Command Sisters titled “I Can Do What I Want To” and “I Like It,” which released in the summer.

They recorded all of the tracks in Los Angeles with award-winning producer Tim Pagnotta, who has worked with bands like WALK THE MOON, Weezer, Blink-182 and Neon Trees. They’ve set themselves up perfectly for the release of their debut EP, which will drop early in 2021.

When talking about “Feel Good,” Command Sisters said we need something to make us all, well, feel good.

“This song means shamelessly going after what you want and not apologizing for that! Doing the things that make YOU feel good, regardless of what people say. It’s all about self love,” they said.

You can learn more about them by clicking right here. You can also follow them on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

Carly Rae Jepsen – It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries

Listen to “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries” HERE

Pop dynamo Carly Rae Jepsen is bringing some much-needed Yuletide cheer a little early with her cheeky new song “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries,” out today on 604/Schoolboy/Interscope Records. The snappy, synthy jingle—which grapples with vegan boyfriends, political uncles, and grandpas on edibles—sees the Grammy-nominated star doing what she does best: finding the joy in every situation, even when tears are falling. “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries” is available now at all digital retailers.

Crafted with acclaimed songwriters and producers Benjamin Romans, CJ Baran, and James Flannigan, the disco-pop merriment of “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries” was a chance for Jepsen to embrace the good, the bad, and the ugly of her favorite time of the year. “I love the old fashioned movies and the family traditions and the excitement of gifting presents and decorating the tree and and and… my list is endless,” she says. “But each year the pressure to have the perfect Christmas always ends in tears. I call it Christmas versus expectation.”

“Christmas holiday is my favorite time of year. I love it,” says Jepsen.  “But so often emotions run high and expectation versus reality is something I’d like to shed some light on and hopefully some laughs too in the process. So if you are lucky enough to get to be with the ones that matter most to you this year- embrace it! And if things go south just remember, “the secret is to sing a little song to survive… that it’s not Christmas till somebody cries!”.

This is the Canadian artist’s second gift to fans this year. In May, she released Dedicated Side B, a sleek set of dance-pop pleasures filled with all the unbridled optimism Jepsen first displayed on her 2012 debut album Kiss. The album is a companion piece to 2019’s Dedicated, which features the buoyant singles “Party for One,” “Now That I Found You,” and the Jack Antonoff-produced “Want You in My Room”—all of which were named among the top songs of the year by outlets including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum, and Pitchfork.

Carly Rae Jepsen’s pristine, prismatic pop has long been the blissful soundtrack for first kisses and swirling romances, but the multi-platinum Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize nominated Canadian star’s knack for distilling a sea of emotions into brilliant songcraft has wooed critics as deeply as fans. The singer, songwriter, and actress first burst onto the international scene in 2012 with the sly and sublime “Call Me Maybe.” That blockbuster hit from her breakthrough album, Kiss, topped charts in over 47 countries, sold over 20 million singles, and was certified Diamond in the U.S. It also earned her two Grammy nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year. Since then, she’s amassed even more acclaim across the music spectrum. On her 2015 synth-pop stunner E*MO*TION, Jepsen collaborated with Sia, Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, and Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), expanding her sonic palette with shimmery synths and euphoric dance beats that channel the sugary rush of new flirtations. Noisey declared it the pop album of the year, while the beaming single “I Really Like You” went platinum. Her 2019 follow-up, Dedicated, covered even more musical and emotional ground, as our most hopeful romantic continued to chase her bliss through a breakup. The Atlantic called the album “brilliant” with its “godlike bops.” Jepsen returned again in May 2020 with a gift for her fans: Dedicated Side B, a buoyant set of dance-floor candy that affirmed her status as pop’s undefeatable ambassador of love.

About Command Sisters

Command Sisters—Charlotte and Sarah Command—wield the power to turn popular culture red, the color being a signature feature of a finely-crafted image. After playing together since childhood, the siblings honed on a distinct sound and style that has brought them to what you get today. Sarah drew on a lifelong love of shred gods, such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Orianthi, as Charlotte nodded to the songcraft of Sia and The Weeknd, cultivating a sharp signature sound steeped in mind-blowing musicality and tight hooks. Their sense of style got just as loud with a crimson take on high fashion. This careful presentation turned heads. Not only did they perform across the United States and Canada, but they attracted partners such as Martin Guitars, PRS Guitars, Marshall Amps, MAC Cosmetics, and Boss/Roland, to name a few. Additionally, they cultivated a fervent social media following through consistently eye-popping posts. Mind you, they impressively did all of this without one official release. After inking a deal with 21 Entertainment, Universal Music Canada, and Republic Records, Command Sisters are primed for a bold breakthrough with their 2020 singles “I Can Do What I Want To” and “I Like It.”

Kathryn Dean × High School Nation

Singer, songwriter and recording artist Kathryn Dean performed her newest anthem “Friends (Don’t Wanna Be)” exclusively on High School Nation’s QuaranTeen Instagram Live series on Monday, June 22nd at noon PST, as part of an exclusive engagement for the community platform. Dean’s exclusive 7-song performance, streamed on the company’s Instagram Live, featured all new songs, including an unreleased stripped-down version of “Told You So,” the pop songstress’ 2014 international breakthrough hit, which earned her a devout following in Latin America and has to date garnered over 30-million views on YouTube. An exclusive, live fan Q&A with iHeart Radio host TyeHollywood preceded the performance, both of which can be viewed on High School Nation’s IGTV profile here.

When asked about her plan for the performance, Dean said she feels it is important to, “address the emotional struggle that comes from trying to maintain relationships while being separated from one another, and to celebrate our ability to overcome obstacles and grow from those experiences.”

Via her social media yesterday, Dean announced a contest that will give fans the opportunity to design official cover art for her next single “Exhale.” The winner will have their design featured as the track’s official artwork when it releases this coming fall across all digital and streaming platforms. Watch the announcement here for further details.

Showcasing Dean’s impressive vocal range, “Friends (Don’t Wanna Be)” tackles the emotional struggle that comes with being separated from one another, and the celebration of our ability to overcome such obstacles. Dean said of writing the song, “What started as a way to work through my mixed emotions turned into a reminder that my need to create music and desire to achieve my dream are stronger than anyone’s efforts to diminish my confidence for the benefit of their egos.” One of those dreams, to write chart topping songs, is a milestone she has been striving for since she began writing and recording original music in high school.

Working to achieve this goal since high school, most recently, Dean has embarked on a mission to make a chart topping single with acclaimed producer and pop chart veteran of nearly 20 #1 hits, Sandy Vee (Katy Perry, “Firework,” Rihanna, “Only Girl in the World,” David Guetta, “Sexy Bitch” and many more). Their creative process will be the subject of a docuseries, with the first episode due out later this year. The series follows Dean and Sandy as they embark on a mission to make her high school dreams come true with Sandy’s next chart topping single. As they progress, the duo relies on Sandy’s years of success, insight and experience combined with KD’s fresh lyrical style and powerful, Adele-rivaling, vocals to navigate obstacles and adapt to making music under quarantine. Capturing a unique time in music history, Dean and Sandy Vee offer audiences a raw look at the formula of art and science behind creating a hit song, from writing its first notes to recording, releasing and performing the song. Viewers will get the chance to follow this unconventional approach and be offered unique opportunities to engage with Dean and Sandy as their process unfolds. The episodic series will culminate with a feature length documentary film submission for Sundance and the Film Festival circuit in 2021.

All High School Nation subscribers currently have exclusive access to download “Friends (Don’t Wanna Be)” now via an exclusive code. The track is officially set to release on July 17th to all digital and streaming platforms. For more information, please visit https://highschoolnation.com/.

Written by GRACEY earlier this year after a frustrating, lengthy period of rest after vocal surgery, “Empty Love” is an upfront and honest commentary on the often-damaging pressures that come with social media. Told through the eyes of a 22-year-old girl with the world at her feet, the single is a straight-up pop anthem that doesn’t try to pour glitter on the truth, but instead deals in stone-cold relatable and deeply personal realities and sounds even more magnificent for that exact reason.

“Empty Love” also comes with a powerful accompanying music video which features both GRACEY and Ruel, from either side of the globe. It was created by GRACEY with two of the most innovative and exciting new London creatives – director Aidan Zamiri and visual effects specialist Dan Moller. Utilising a seamless blend of self-shot footage, 360 cameras and augmented-reality effects to bring the track’s narrative to life, the video (which has been shot by GRACEY in her bedroom) comments on the way our digital selves are crafted, presented and examined online. Working remotely from their own homes (be it in London or Australia), GRACEY Aidan, Dan and Ruel have collaborated to create an important visual statement about our on and off screen lives, shining warped and augmented light on what we share with the world and what we chose to keep private.

As the world continues to turn in ever inexplicable circumstances, one thing is sure; GRACEY’s seemingly unstoppable rise to becoming one of the most exciting new British talents is now well underway. For starters, her collaboration with 220Kid “Don’t Need Love” is currently gallivanting up the UK charts, after being A-Listed at both Radio 1 and Capital. Then from her own isolation, GRACEY has also quickly builtherself an impressive following on TikTok with the help of her 2020 single “Alone In My Room (Gone)” which itself has naturally become a popular soundtrack to stories of lockdown.

GRACEY was recruited at 16 as a top-line writer for Xenomania and she’s now emerging as an artist in her own right. With that comes its own pressure, and her brilliant songs tell the honest truth about heartbreak, social media and the fears and anxieties that come with bearing your soul with the world. Signed to Interscope, she is making a name for herself in the UK and on this side of the Atlantic Esquire has taken note including her “Different Things” single in their “Best song of 2019” list alongside Billie Eilish and Yola.

Her debut EP Imposter Syndrome dropped last year and featured the single “Different Things.” Cut from the same cloth as Sia and Lorde, the track is a forward-thinking and vividly atmospheric raw depiction of a relationship stretched to breaking point. It put GRACEY on the map as a solo art artist to watch in 2020. She recently spoke with Billboard about the effects of the Coronavirus shut-down on her just-kicking-off career.
