Billy Porter – Children

Wistful beginnings, a beat drop follows kicking into a propulsive disco groove as Billy Porter triumphantly promises: A change starts today, better wipe those tears away. The GRAMMY®, EMMY®, & Tony® Award-winning actor, singer, director, composer, playwright, & author unveils a brand new single entitled “Children” out now.“It’s a song that is inspired by my life reflecting everything I’ve gone through to get here.” he says, with Porter empathizing:

“See I know times are hard, Yeah I mean it from the heart

You’re not losing the fight, love will make it alright

Cos i’ve been there, done that, worn that dress,

so you know mama knows it best”

The single marks Billy’s debut under his newly minted joint partnership with Island UK and Republic Records. Children is a high-energy dance floor anthem co-written with GRAMMY ®Award-nominated songwriter MNEK [H.E.R.,Dua Lipa] and Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track Billy says, “Music is my first love,” “I grew up singing in the church.” Delivering the song’s show-stopping hook, “Gotta let these children know what time it is,” punctuated with his jaw-dropping range.

For the first time, my music is what I want it to be, what I want it to say, which is hope and love,” “We have to choose it every day so we can fight the evil. We can only fight it with love and I am so excited for my music for that.” The G.E.T awarded performer recalls his commercial music debut in 1997 as a time for the world to catch up. With the release of his self-titled (aka Untitled) debut album which spawned the Top 10 Bubbling Under single, “Show Me,” and the monster ballad, “Love Is On The Way,” which also appeared at the pivotal moment in the film, “First Wives Club.” The industry was not ready for all this Black Boy Joy! He went on to release “At the Corner of Broadway + Soul” (2005), “Billy’s Back on Broadway” (2014), and “The Soul of Richard Rodgers” (2017) featuring Pentatonix, India.Arie, Leslie Odom Jr. and Cynthia Erivo, among others. Porter scored his first #1 with “Love Yourself” in 2019 on the US Dance Club Songs Chart. He followed that up with his 2020 reimagining of the legendary Buffalo Springfield anthem, “For What It’s Worth,” and a fierce collab with The Shapeshifters on “Finally Ready.”

Make way children! Daddy’s back. Hopeful yet thrilled to entrust this next chapter of his music career to the Island/Republic team. 2021 saw Porter covering Juliet Roberts club classic “Caught in The Middle” for Red Hot + Free, which supports underserved communities afflicted with HIV/AIDS. He was also enlisted by multiplatinum international superstar Jessie J for “I Want Love.” Also delivering a fierce turn on Earth, Wind, and Fire’s iconic “Shining Star” as Fab G, the Fairy Godmuva, in the new remake of “Cinderella.” Porter is a veteran of the theater (Miss Saigon, Angels in America, Grease). He won a Tony® in the category of “Best Leading Actor in a Musical” for Kinky Boots in 2013, and a Grammy® for the latter’s Official Soundtrack in the category of “Best Musical Theater Album” in 2014. Porter took home the Emmy® Award for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series” in 2019 for his work as Pray Tell on Pose, making history in being the first openly gay man to do so. Time Magazine named him one of the “100 Most Influential People” of 2020. This October, Billy will release his highly anticipated memoir, “Unprotected.” His directorial film debut, “What If,” is set to drop in 2022. Billy kicks off his next chapter in music, his first love, with a new album coming soon.

UPSAHL — “TIME OF MY LIFE”

“An artist who’s as great at writing a hook as she is at singing one” —BILLBOARD

“Bold and brash, she holds nothing back” —SPIN

“Exudes an infectious sense of confidence that provides an aura of empowerment for her listeners” —V MAGAZINE

“If you aren’t already a full-time UPSAHL stan, firstly: What’s wrong with you?” —COSMOPOLITAN

Today, critically acclaimed trailblazer UPSAHL releases her new single “Time of my Life,” an introspective anthem off of her debut album due out this October on Arista Records. The pensive track’s melodic hook and punchy chorus put UPSAHL’s addictive sound and songwriting prowess front and center.

Directed by George Gallardo Kattah, the playful video juxtaposes present-day UPSAHL with a younger version of herself, allowing moments of childhood nostalgia to manifest in the now. Raw and vulnerable, UPSAHL invites viewers to tag along as she wonders, “How come all the worst days are in the time of my life?”

Of the song, UPSAHL explains, “I wrote ‘Time of my Life’ about being the happiest I’ve ever been, while simultaneously being the saddest I’ve ever been. I’m at a place in my life where I feel like the highs are really really high, but on the flip side, it makes the impact of the lows even lower. The day we wrote this song, I had the line: ‘How come all the worst days are in the time of my life?’ dancing around in my head. So we ended up making that the chorus and building the rest of the song around it.”

Of the video, she added, “For the music video, George, the director, and I really wanted to emphasize the nostalgia that this song sparks. Personally, I feel like some of my most reflective moments are in the shower, so we wanted the video to take place there, while flashing back to some of the best and worst moments of my life. We wanted it to feel very dramatic and introspective, so we shot the video on a high speed camera at 60-1000 frames per second to make it all look like it’s moving in slow motion.”

You can listen to and watch “Time of My Life” HERE.

“Time of my Life” follows on the heels of UPSAHL’s recent single “Melatonin,” a “bright, buoyant” (Billboard) track exemplifying the iconoclast’s musical depth and creating another important stop in the journey to her upcoming debut album.

You can watch the “Melatonin” music video HERE.

In just a few short years, UPSAHL has penned numerous hits spanning various genres such as Dua Lipa’s “Good in Bed,” Madison Beer’s fiery single “BOYSHIT,” and “Happy Endings” with Mike Shinoda and iann dior. Most recently, UPSAHL collaborated with Anne-Marie and Little Mix and co-wrote
“Kiss My (Uh Oh),” released last week. UPSAHL’s track “Stop” was also featured on episode 3 of HBO’s new Gossip Girl revival.

UPSAHL will perform a run of fall dates across the U.S. opening for Olivia O’Brien kicking off August 30th at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. She will also make her first-ever headline show debut at the Courtyard Theatre in London this fall on October 12th.

Tassia Zappia from Bryan Kehn from Republic Records Media for use by 360 Magazine

Tassia Zappia – When I Was Four

Increasing buzz following her critically acclaimed debut, Melbourne singer songwriter Tassia Zappia unveils a new single and music video entitled “When I Was Four” via Republic Records today. Listen to “When I Was Four” here. Watch the lyric video here.

On the autobiographical track, her voice glides over soft piano as she details her journey from humble beginnings in Australia to the door of a seemingly impossible dream. The momentum builds towards a powerhouse hook evocative of her range. The accompanying video begins with a grainy confessional by Tassia as she explains her resolve to make this dream real. The clip follows her alone through Los Angeles before intercutting original home video footage of her performing as a kid. It all culminates on an uplifting finale.

Tassia introduced herself with her very first single “You Don’t Want Me.” Right out of the gate, it amassed playlist support from the territories around the world. Additionally, the debut received widespread acclaim with press raving, “We already know it’s going to be on heavy rotation for us.”

Right now, she’s preparing her debut EP for release this year. Stay tuned!

Tassia Zappia, Italian born in Melbourne, doesn’t gloss over the little things in her music. She approaches her lyrics with a keen eye for detail only amplified by her show-stopping delivery, outsized vocal flare, and free spirit. Listening to the Australian singer and songwriter can feel like being in the room right next to her during some momentous turning point.

As a kid, Tassia discovered Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, and Frank Sinatra through her parents, developing an appreciation for “super old school classics.” Feeling like an outsider, she turned to poetry and music. By 12-years-old, she began writing songs. She discovered Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill and incorporated all of these inspirations into a raw, unfiltered, and soulful style. In 2019, she took a trip to Los Angeles for a music camp that wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Instead, it “felt like Fyre Fest,” but she ended up with her first break, nevertheless. After performing her original composition “WHEN I WAS FOUR” during a visit from chart-topping songwriter Heidi Rojas [Little Mix, Cheryl Cole], she left the audience in tears. Rojas asked for Tassia’s phone number, and they met for coffee a few days later. The following day Heidi took Tassia to a session with Lauren Christy, formerly of The Matrix [Avril Lavigne, David Bowie, Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, Rihanna], and this led to Tassia signing a development deal with Heidi and Lauren’s production company. Along the way, she inked a deal with Republic and crafted her debut single “You Don’t Want Me.”

“Tassia Zappia wastes no time to prove just how powerful her voice is with those high notes, reminiscent of the late Amy Winehouse, in the opening measures in ‘You Don’t Want Me.’” – The Honey Pop
“…she’s going to take over the world by storm” – Alfitude
“Tassia Zappia is making sure your first impression of her music is a spicy one” – PLNKWIFI

EXPLOSIVE COLLABORATIVE SINGLE & MUSIC VIDEO OUT NOW VIA BIG BEAT RECORDS

STREAM “HEARTBREAK ANTHEM

Internationally-acclaimed collaborative project Galantis, superstar DJ/producer David Guetta & global pop superstars Little Mix have joined forces for new single “Heartbreak Anthem” – available now via Big Beat Records. The explosive collaboration arrives alongside a striking music video directed by Samuel Douek, who most recently teamed up with Little Mix for their buzzworthy “Confetti” visual last month. Contrary to its title, “Heartbreak Anthem” proves a declaration of resilience – fusing the jaunty productions of the powerhouse producers with the impeccable harmonies of the world’s biggest girl band.

“We’ve been working on ‘Heartbreak Anthem’ for over a year now! It started with just the chord progression at a studio in London right before the pandemic. As many collaborations have gone in these times, it was a remote work in progress for months, with stems sent back and forth from London to Los Angeles to Stockholm to Paris. We’d been talking with David about working together for a long time, and having Little Mix and their unique, strong vocals has made this one really special. Feels great to finally get this out into the world!” – Christian Karlsson (Galantis).

ABOUT GALANTIS:

Setting a new standard for songwriting in dance music, Galantis is a collaborative project led by Christian Karlsson (aka Bloodshy, one-third of Miike Snow). Galantis’ debut album Pharmacy reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance album chart on the strength of RIAA gold certified single “Peanut Butter Jelly” and 2x platinum certified smash “Runaway (U & I)” – the latter of which earned GRAMMY nominations for “Best Dance Recording” and “Best Remixed Recording” – while 2017’s sophomore album The Aviary (featuring platinum certified single “No Money”) saw a top 10 debut in 23 countries. Most recently, the third Galantis album Church featured the chart-topping single “Faith” with country music icon Dolly Parton featuring Mr. Probz, which saw a #1 debut on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Chart before quickly reaching #1 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart where it remained for 5 weeks. Galantis has received over 4 billion cumulative worldwide streams, and over 1.5 billion video views to date.

The story of Galantis started back in 2009. Working as Bloodshy, Karlsson’s songwriting collaborations have included MadonnaKylie MinogueKaty Perry and Britney Spears (who’s “Toxic” earned a GRAMMY for “Best Dance Recording”). This collaborative nature led to the birth of the Galantis project which had its live debut at 2014’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and has continued on years later as one of dance music’s most dynamic and in-demand live performers.

ABOUT DAVID GUETTA:

There are artists and entertainers who achieve stardom and popularity, but few have the influence and endurance to redraw borders between genres and reshape the industry’s dynamics. In 2009, “When Love Takes Over,” the first single from his breakthrough album One Love hit #1 in the UK and the Guetta-produced Black Eyed Peas song “I Gotta Feeling” became a worldwide hit, topping the charts in 17 countries. Over the decade since, Guetta’s success has been off the charts. Globally, he’s racked up over 50 million record sales, whereas his total number of streams is over 10 billion. He has received numerous Platinum and Gold certifications, was named EDM Power Player by Billboard and won two GRAMMY Awards out of six nominations. Besides his hard-won DJ skills, he is prolific in the studio, working with superstar artists like MadonnaRihannaLady GagaSnoop DoggMartin GarrixUsherSiaJohn LegendNicki MinajSean PaulKelly RowlandAviciiNe-YoAkon and more.  His seventh studio album titled 7, included huge electronic pop tracks like “2U” with Justin Bieber, “Flames” with Sia, “Don’t Leave Me Alone” with Anne-Marie, “Goodbye” with Jason DeruloNicki Minaj and Willy William and “Say My Name” with J Balvin and Bebe Rexha plus a second disc of underground dance tracks, recorded under Guetta’s Jack Back alias. With his wide-reaching and game-changing approach, he is more than just a DJ and producer: he’s made dance music reach the mainstream, fused urban, electronic and pop music into new popular genres, and managed to stay on top of the game for decades.

ABOUT LITTLE MIX:

With over 60 million records sold, 10 billion global streams, over 5 billion YouTube views, 5 platinum albums, 5 UK number 1 singles, and over 2 million tickets sold Little Mix are officially the world’s biggest girl band. CHEAT CODES X AJ MITCHELL: “HATE YOU + LOVE YOU”

Joining forces for an event-level collaboration from their forthcoming debut album, Hellraisers Pt. 1, multiplatinum DJ trio Cheat Codes teams up with Gold-certified rising pop maverick AJ Mitchell for a brand new single entitled “Hate You + Love You”.

Simultaneously trafficking in electronic, pop, hip-hop, and alternative at the same high speed, the Los Angeles trio Cheat Codes remains an inescapable force throughout popular culture. AJ Mitchell has set his sights on pop domination with every move as he gears up to release his highly anticipated debut full-length album Skyview.

“I think we’ve all had that experience with a friend, family member, girlfriend or boyfriend where you just have that feeling: I hate you but I love you at the same time. AJ Mitchellcaptures that every and we were so stoked to have him jump on this with us,” said Cheat Codes. “Big love to Bryn Christopher, KODA and Henrik for sharing their magic with us on this. It was a true pleasure to work with them.”

For the track, Cheat Codes cooked up a glistening soundscape topped off by glitchy 808s and a laidback bass line. This backdrop really allows Mitchell’s voice to soar. Reflecting the song’s thematic push-and-pull, he delivers intimate verses before the high register hook takes hold with heavenly vocal echoes as he admits, “I hate you, love you, the rest of my life.

As they embark on what is slated to be their biggest year yet fueled by their debut album release, Cheat Codes have already made waves and built momentum through a series of single releases.  Most recently, “No Chill” featuring breakout TikTok star and musician Lil XXEL lead the radio airwaves in January 2021. With three legs leading into the album, each ‘part’ will personify the individual members of the trio and give you a deeper look at each group member.

The Los Angeles-based group consisting of KEVI, Trevor Dahl and Matt Russell have skyrocketed to fame since they first came together in 214. Over the course of the last six years, they’ve amassed over 6 billion total streams, with 12 million listeners tuning in each month to their music via Spotify. Pivotal points in their career include collaborations with artists such as Liam Payne, Fetty Wap, Demi Lovato, Little Mix, Wiz Khalifa and more.

In other news, AJ Mitchell recently picked up his first gold plaque for the single “Slow Dance” [feat. Ava Max], which has amassed over 215 million streams to-date. Included in Variety’s Young Hollywood 2020 list, he continues to captivate listeners everywhere, recently achieving over 1 billion total streams and views. He capped off last year with the incendiary single “Burn” before diving back into the studio to put the finishing touches on his full-length debut album, Skyview—coming soon.

Au/Ra – Moon River Cover

Following the release of her single “Ideas” earlier this year and recent feature on Jax Jones’ track “i miss u,” Au/Ra has shared her cover of “Moon River,” which is available now via Columbia Records. Listen HERE.

Originally performed by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the song was written by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer and has been covered by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Louis Armstrong, Frank Ocean and more. Au/Ra has added her unique take on the track, which has a dusky and ethereal edge that is displayed through the visualizer accompanying the track. Watch HERE.

Au/Ra says: “I’ve always loved this song, especially the version sung by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do my own rendition of. During quarantine I thought ‘why not give it a try?’ It was something I just wanted to do for fun with my dad, but we ended up liking it so much that we wanted to make it an actual release for listeners.”

Ibiza-born and Antigua-raised songwriter Au/Ra explores the challenges of being a modern-day teenager, writing music that touches on the issues today’s younger generation face on a daily basis, such as anxiety, communicating in an always online world and having to always show off your best self. Her single before “Ideas” was “Ghost” with Alan Walker, which was part of the Death Standing soundtrack and has been streamed over 32 million times on Spotify alone. “Panic Room,” her Platinum selling hit, was remixed by CamelPhat and stayed in the Top 40 for 9 weeks, amassing 122M streams on Spotify. She was recently featured on Jax Jones’ single “i miss u,” which she performed alongside him on Little Mix’s show The Search and was playlisted at Radio 1, Capitol and Kiss FM, achieving almost 18M streams so far. Watch a live version of the track HERE.

An undercurrent of most of Au/Ra’s deeply visual and evocative lyrics is a sense of escapism, influenced by her fandom of anime and fantasy. Growing up devouring Studio Ghibli films, she’s always loved to disappear into the soft-edged, uncanny world of Miyazaki animations, and uses similar designs to flesh out the visual world of her music. With her lovingly made outsider-pop, Au/Ra is providing a similar kind of space in her song writing: one where misfits feel at home and where the listener gets to peer for a minute through the lens of an artist who has simultaneously grown up outside the system, but who speaks with the zeitgeist of her generation.

Look out for more new music from Au/Ra coming soon!
