For World AIDS Day Consideration

For World AIDS Day consideration: Body Hack presents Nuestros Lazos Festival, Dec 1-4

BODY HACK [A MUTUAL CARE RESOURCE & INTERNATIONAL FUNDRAISING COLLECTIVE FOR AND BY TRANS AND QUEER PEOPLE OF COLOR] ANNOUNCES NUESTROS LAZOS, A FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE THAT KICKS OFF ON WORLD AIDS DAY

This December, Body Hack joins forces with Kiki House of Prince, for the first time to create a spectacular festival complete with panels, workshops, the long-awaited Maxi Kiki Ball, and a dope afterparty, done Body Hack style! Through the activities around Nuestros Lazos Kiki Ball, we seek to provide relevant information and generate support networks with civil organizations that fight to eradicate the stigma against HIV in society; in the same way, to bring a positive message about the value of bodies and experiences of diverse people through art and performance.

Nuestros Lazos is a fundraising initiative that kicks off on World AIDS Day, bringing together community to benefit and celebrate our poz family. In this space, trans folks, people from the LGBTIQ+ community in general, migrants, afro-descendants, racialized people and more, who have found through Ballroom a platform for art and visibility, come together in a celebration of their identities, as well as in commemoration of the struggles that, as communities, continue to affect them. This year we are raising funds for Jóvenes Cambiando VIHdas, a network of mutual support by and for young people and adolescents living with HIV in Peru.

HIV is an important issue within the Ballroom community, as it is home to people living with the virus who are constantly struggling to cope with a society that discriminates against people based on their HIV status. This reality is faced through actions and information from our platforms, since it is necessary and imperative to impact the community and society in general to maintain an active and visible fight regarding this cause.

Originally a happy hour for trans and nonbinary people set in a tiny Brooklyn dive bar, Body Hack has grown into a transnational project seeking to model a world where trans communities can thrive interdependently. Now a collective, Body Hack throws parties in-person and virtually over Zoom, creating dedicated spaces for trans people to gather, celebrate, and extend support to one another. Each party doubles as a fundraiser for a trans-related initiative, raising over $100k across 20 events in the last three years.

Established in 2019, Kiki House of Prince is the Pioneer house of the Peruvian ballroom scene.

They have organized some of the first balls in Peru, and are disseminators of ballroom culture as a form of resistance and community development. Kiki House of Prince has the support of institutions such as Harvard University, Cayetano Heredia University, UCLA, and UNAIDS; which, through our network of contacts, will participate in the events that seek to generate awareness, education, prevention, and community outreach for the optimal and responsible development of our event and ball.

Lexus – December to Remember

Lexus ‘December to Remember’ Celebrates Moments of Connection. New commercial, Sprinkles giveaways spread holiday cheer with annual return of iconic campaign

Every year, Lexus ushers in the holidays with the December to Remember campaign including the familiar jingle, the red bow and the gift-giving moment. This year, the signature red bow returns with a twist in a new spot called “Time Machine.” And, in a holiday first, Lexus is partnering with Sprinkles to make December a bit sweeter with exclusive giveaways at nationwide Sprinkles locations courtesy of Lexus dealers.

“This year’s ‘December to Remember’ celebrates the holidays as a joyful time to reconnect with loved ones,” said Vinay Shahani, vice president of Lexus marketing. “Our dealers do a great job of extending hospitality to our guests year-round. This holiday season, on behalf of our dealers, we’re inviting guests to enjoy a special Sprinkles treat and pay it forward to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.”

Lexus continues to be a proud partner of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Starting on Giving Tuesday, November 29, guests will have the opportunity to donate through a unique link found on social and in Sprinkles stores when they pick up their complimentary holiday treats.  For every donation made through the link between November 29 and January 3, Lexus will match donations up to $250,000.

In the “Time Machine” commercial, debuting today, a young boy waits impatiently for the holidays. He becomes convinced that his family’s new RX is a time machine and wonders if it might make the holidays come faster. In a variation of the campaign’s signature gift-giving moment, this year’s gift comes in the form of the little boy being reunited with his older brother, who comes home early from college to surprise him. The red bow, instead of appearing on top of the car, appears on a present his brother brings with him. In addition, Lexus is bringing back two popular “December to Remember” spots from last year — “Runway” and “Wonderland.”

In its own gift-giving moment, Lexus is treating guests to an exclusive complimentary offer in partnership with Sprinkles at locations nationwide. From Friday, December 2, through Sunday, December 4, red velvet cupcakes will be gifted courtesy of Lexus and its dealers – each of the three days for one hour between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. (also while supplies last).

RENEÉ RAPP ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER TOUR

RENEÉ RAPP ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER HEADLINING TOUR KICKING OFF DECEMBER 6TH IN LOS ANGELES

  • EMOTIONAL DEBUT EP EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE OUT NOW – LISTEN HERE

Reneé Rapp announces first-ever headlining tour in support of debut EP, Everything to Everyone. Kicking off on December 6th in Los Angeles, this tour will be an opportunity for fans to experience the emotional project in an intimate setting that highlights Rapp’s raw vocal talent. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, November 18th at 10 AM local time. More information can be found HERE.

EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE TOUR DATES:

December 6th   Los Angeles, CA   Troubadour

December 13th  New York, NY      Bowery Electric

December 15th  Boston, MA          Sonia’s

December 18th  Atlanta, GA          Vinyl

Today’s announcement arrives on the heels of Reneé’s debut EP Everything To Everyone, an emotional 7-track project which highlights her vocal prowess and versatility as she shifts from soaring emotional ballads to polished pop anthems. The stripped-back title track and EP opener explores Rapp’s desire to show up for the important people in her life. Next up is the multi-hyphenate’s breakout single “In the Kitchen,” which reflects on a doomed relationship, and a brand new track titled “Colorado” that expresses her desire to leave Los Angeles behind. It’s the kind of unfiltered anthem that made her most recent release, “Don’t Tell My Mom,” so gut-wrenching. On the track, Rapp details her tumultuous, tight knit relationship with her mother. Don’t tell my mom, I’m fallin’ apart,” she belts over minimal synths. “She hurts when I hurt, my scars are her scars.” The EP is rounded out by the songs “What Can I Do,” “Too Well,” and “Moon,” each of which showcases a slightly different shade of Rapp’s musical palate. It’s the kind of collection with a song for every mood or emotional state.

The EP follows the singles “Don’t Tell My Mom,” “In the Kitchen,” and “Tattoos,” which have amassed more than 22 million combined streams. Throughout her career, Rapp has displayed a knack for captivating audiences with vibrant performances and unbridled energy. Outside of music, she stars in the hit HBO Max series The Sex Lives of College Girls, which has its season 2 premiere next week. It’s a role that calls for brilliant comedic timing and dramatic prowess, both of which the newcomer has in spades. With Everything to Everyone, Rapp underlines the breadth and depth of her talent, veering from soaring ballads to uptempo pop anthems without missing a beat.

ABOUT RENEÉ RAPP:

Reneé Rapp knew she was born to perform ever since she was a child. Even in her earliest memories, her love of music was always present. “I couldn’t sit still in the car unless there was music,” she says. “Otherwise, I would cry the entire time.” The North Carolina native began harnessing her natural creativity by writing and recording songs when she was just a teenager. Eventually, her career took off when she landed the coveted role of Regina George in the Tony-nominated Mean Girls musical on Broadway. Shortly after, she found widespread recognition and praise—from the likes of W, Harper’s Bazaar, and The Hollywood Report for her performance as “Leighton” on the HBO Max series “The Sex Lives of College Girls” written by Mindy Kaling. Now, more empowered than ever, Rapp turns her attention back to music, where sharing threadbare insecurities on “Tattoos” is just the beginning. “I was called ‘crazy’ a lot growing up because I didn’t know what was going on with me,” she says. “As I got older and started going to therapy, I reclaimed the word in a way that feels good to me.” In this song and in the rest of her music to come Rapp leans into a uniquely bold showcase of vulnerability to connect with her ever-growing fandom. Eager to continue to share her emotions with the world, Reneé has much more music on the way under her recent signing to Interscope Records

Pirelli 2019 Tire Range Presentation for Formula 1

Next year, there will be just three P Zero colors at each race. These will always be the same – white, yellow and red – denoting the hard, medium and soft tire choices respectively at every Grand Prix. But that doesn’t mean that there will be only three tire compounds.

Instead, the hard, medium and soft tire compounds will continue to vary to suit the different characteristics of each track. For instance, a Red soft tire for Monaco will differ substantially from a Red soft tire for Silverstone or Suzuka. The precise number of tire compounds available, covering a wide spectrum from soft to hard, will be communicated in December after homologation from the FIA. Before every race next year, Pirelli will reveal which exact tire compounds form the hard, medium and soft choices for the weekend. This new system makes it easy for the casual fan to tell the difference between the tires, yet still allows people who want more detail to know which of the specific tire compounds available are being used.

The colors for the Cinturato intermediate tire and full wet tires remain unchanged next year – green and blue respectively. Mario Isola, Pirelli’s Head of Car Racing – “We’ve been talking about this with the Teams, FIA and Formula 1 for a while. The idea behind the change is to make all the tires more easily recognizable and explainable – especially for television – while still clearly denoting which specific tire compounds are being used at each race”.

“Flipping Out” Returns

Bravo Media’s Emmy-nominated “Flipping Out” returns for its eleventh season beginning Tuesday, September 11 at 10pm ET/PT. As a new-ish father, America’s favorite house-flipper Jeff Lewis finds himself in uncharted territory and needing to refocus his energies. Now that his family takes priority, his goals are to take on fewer clients and flip properties more efficiently. With the employee revolving door constantly in flux, however, restructuring is easier said than done. As pressures rise and tempers flare, Jeff leans on his partner Gage Edward and executive assistant Jenni Pulos to help him keep it all together. For a sneak peek at the new season, please visit: http://www.bravotv.com/flipping-out/season-11/videos/your-first-look-at-flipping-outs-explosive-new-season

With little Monroe now calling the shots in her fathers’ lives, the Lewis-Edward household – and thus the staff at Jeff Lewis Design – operates on an extremely regimented schedule. Jeff remains consumed by the still-ongoing renovations at his Valley Vista property and brings in two project managers to help keep things on track. Things get complicated, however, when his game plan backfires. Having just gotten back from maternity leave,Jenni navigates the new office dynamic amidst the chaos as newest team member, Tyler Meyerkorth, has become Jeff’s full-time assistant and right-hand man in her absence. Diligent long-time employee Megan Weaver works to pick up the slack, but tension builds as Jeff struggles to relinquish control. As employees fail to perform up to his perfectionist standards, it becomes clear that no one is safe and the threat of being let go looms.

“Flipping Out” is produced by Authentic Entertainment with Lauren Lexton, Billy Taylor, Jeff Lewis and Jenni Pulos serving as executive producers.

Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami during Miami Art Week

Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami, two of the longest running and most progressive contemporary art shows for the fine art industry during Miami Art Week, announces this year’s exciting five-day line-up of interactive programming, taking place December 6—10, 2017.

Each year, Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami are established as sister art shows, occupying a purpose-built exhibition space at 1700 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami’s Arts and Entertainment District. Over the last decade, both shows have grown to become the ultimate destination for the fine art industry professional and contemporary art enthusiast who collectively seek a more accessible experience with exhibits showcasing the world’s most progressive portfolios by some of today’s elite artists, galleries and emerging talents. The shows attract more than 40,000 attendees each year and represent more than 650 artists and galleries worldwide.

The annual Opening Night Preview Party, taking place on Wednesday, December 6th, marks commencement of the five-day global panorama in contemporary art, culture and entertainment. This year’s highly prestigious invitation-only event is in association with Cervera Real Estate, and will be hosted by Veronica Cervera Goeseke and Alicia Cervera Jr., who will be officially opening the shows with the CEO of Redwood Media Group, Eric Smith, as part of a ribbon cutting ceremony. Hundreds of the world’s most affluent art dealers, collectors, artists, gallery owners, curators and art enthusiasts attend the opening night extravaganza for Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami on an annual basis, and this year is no exception.

On arrival at the main entrance of Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami, attendees are invited to step onto the red carpet and into the spotlight to create a memory with their own picture in front of the shows’ backdrop. Visitors will experience a 2017 featured Art Lab by Sculptor, James West of Studio Wild West, who celebrates the natural world with “Our Path,” a monumental, contemporary outdoor sculpture delicately laced with intricate laser carvings—each carving interacting with the environment through the use of positive and negative space.

A second featured Art Lab installation upon entering the shows will astound this year’s avid art enthusiast, with an unforgettable display of nature’s most wondrous creations. Curated by Noor Blazekovic of Irreversible Projects, with the support of Jane Hart of Lemon Sky Projects and Neil Gold of Galleria Farms, “A Walk in the Clouds” is an elaborate sensory experience, featuring approximately 2000 freshly cut flowers of multiple colors that will form a circular arena-like structure – each suspended from the ceiling, allowing guests to be completely immersed in blossoming beauty. With an empowering message of how we are all connected to one another through our body, mind, and spirit, A Walk In the Clouds hopes to make the world feel, spur thinking, evoke engagement and take action.

Spectrum Miami, a curated, contemporary art show, now in its seventh year, presents special programs and site-specific exhibitions that showcase the thriving art landscape of the city, informed by the 2017 curatorial theme [FUSION]: the merging of artistic mediums, of exhibitors and collectors, and of the countless galleries and artists who come together to showcase their work. Spectrum Miami is where contemporary meets extraordinary, featuring the works of more than 160 exhibiting artists and galleries from the Florida region and around the globe. Known for its urban and upscale works of art, Spectrum Miami includes this year’s Art Labs, featuring “Our Path” curated by Sculptor James West; “A Walk In the Clouds” curated by Noor Blazekovic; “Rainbow Ribbon Magic” curated by Sarah Stieber and Theresa Fulton, and “Art Fusion With Life Is Art” curated by James Echols. This year’s Art Talks are sponsored by Artblend and selected by gallery owner and curator Michael Joseph, that include discussions and live demonstrations throughout the week by artists Jason Sauer, Gustavo Fernandez, Rafael Vera, Gaston Locklear, Nino Liguori, Tristina Dietz Elmes, Asbel Gomez Dumpierre, Grant Cleveland, as well as by members from the New York Film Academy faculty and alumni.

This year’s Spotlight Artists Program provides collectors with a focused look at several prominent artists who will each be creating a site-specific exhibition. Spotlight Artists for 2017 are Paul Chang, Shannon DeFreitas, Robert Peterson and Thomas Wargin. The LaunchPad Artist Program showcases an emerging and unrepresented artist who is selected to create an exhibition at the show, resulting from collaboration among local art institutions, galleries, and Spectrum Miami. This year’s LaunchPad Artist is Alicia Rodriguez, an emerging glass sculpture artist.

ArtSpot Miami will be celebrating its fifth anniversary within Spectrum Miami, December 6—10, 2017. 3:00 p.m. MEET THE ARTIST: VALENZ
Arte Collective, Booth R205, R305

By using elements such as chairs, ladders, beds, monocycles, trapeze artists, swings, and machines, Valenz tells stories about life. The chairs signify, according to the context, opportunities and the patience required for them to step into our lives. The ladders represent our desire to climb, to continue our personal growth. Beds represent periods when we sleep and dream, things we cannot share with anyone else. Playful characters are representative of the uniqueness and singularity of each of the moments that we experience throughout our lifetimes and the game that life is. Come meet Valenz, and share some of the game with him.

6:00 p.m. MEET THE ARTISTS: ARIEL ORTEGA & NASRIN SHEYKHI
ABRA Gallery, Booth R203

Influenced by his native Colombia, Ariel Ortega is unable to detach from the history of his native land and uses it as a driving force to work harder and bring his inspiration to others. In this way, he feels his art accomplishes its mission. For Nasrin Sheykhi, her works do not fall into just one category. Painting, caricature, illustration—each work beckons the viewer to come closer to catch the references to architecture, music, cinema, literature, calligraphy, physics, psychology. The pieces are alive with movement and hidden meanings. Come meet these innovative artists and see what influence their art makes upon you.

7:00 p.m. MEET THE ARTIST: MARIELLE PLAISIR
Contemporary Art Projects USA, Booth R215

Upon first glance, you see the depth of the narrative in each of Marielle Plaisir’s exquisite tapestries and unique paintings. Meet Plaisir and hear her story, her influences, and inspirations. The essence of her artworks is theatrical—and we are drawn into the story and drama of each one. As a French-Caribbean artist, she blends life and fiction into her use of textiles, fibers, and fabrics and brings social commentary to each piece. Her surrealist approach allows her to move from the reality of life to the capacity of imagination.
