INTRODUCING COMMAND SISTERS

Introducing the band that will eventually need no introduction: Command Sisters. Comprised of Charlotte [vocals, keys] and Sarah Command [guitar] (yes Command is their real last name!), the Alberta-born and Toronto-based sibling duo unleash their debut single “I Can Do What I Want To” today via 21 Entertainment/Universal Music Canada/Republic Records.

Stream “I Can Do What I Want To” HERE & watch the track’s official music video HERE!

On the song and video, the Command Sisters said, “This song sounds like a breakup song, but really it’s a love song to yourself and a ‘middle finger’ to anybody who tells you who to be, what you should believe in or who you should become.”

I Can Do What I Want To” was produced by notable producer Tim Pagnotta (Walk The Moon, Weezer, Blink 182, Neon Trees, Elle King). The official video was personally shot, styled, and directed in the band’s apartment during quarantine and filmed D.I.Y. on an iPhone. The video embodies the world that is Command Sisters: one sister (Charlotte) sings and writes with master level songcraft and the other sister (Sarah) shreds with fret-burning agility. They rule a world of their own designed in red, black, and white.

Recently, the band joined forces with some of Canada’s biggest artists to form the star-studded supergroup ArtistsCAN and performed a cover of Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me” to raise over $8 million dollars for the Canadian Red Cross and its COVID-19 relief efforts. The performance featured Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Michael Bublé, and more. Check out the video here!

Mae Muller – “I Don’t Want Your Money”

MAE MULLER DEBUTS NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO, “I DON’T WANT YOUR MONEY”

WATCH/LISTEN HERE

COMBINED GLOBAL STREAMS OF MULLER’S SONGS SURPASS 52 MILLION

“Unapologetic, self-assured and fiercely independent, Mae Muller is the next big British sensation.” – PAPER

Today, Capitol Records released Mae Muller’s new single, “I Don’t Want Your Money,” and the accompanying video. The song’s soft, soulful vibe contrasts sharply with her very direct lyrics. Muller makes it clear that money can’t buy her love – after all, she’s financially self-reliant and looking for something deeper. Download/stream “I Don’t Want Your Money” HERE.

Mae Muller says, “I wrote ‘I Don’t Want Your Money’ just under two years ago now, and I’m so happy it’s finally out! I just wanted to show that there are other ways to be treated, rather than just materialistically, especially if you have your own money! I’m financially independent, so you have to find other ways to impress me, I don’t need anything else apart from love and affection. Treat me with respect and we’re GOOD.”  The track, which was included in Spotify’s RADAR: First Listen program, was co-written by Muller and Jimmy Napes (Sam Smith, Khalid, Alicia Keys), who produced it along with Steve Fitzmaurice. Mae shot the official video herself on her iPhone while quarantined at home. The video was directed remotely by Sophie Muller (No Doubt, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Beyoncé). In the light-hearted clip, Mae takes viewers on a colorful virtual journey of different looks, setting the scenes and displaying the emotions that come with having to explain what you do (and don’t!) need from a relationship. Watch the video HERE.

Hailed as “a clear pop sensation in the making” by Wonderland and the “new queen” by NYLON, Muller’s music pairs self-assured lyrics with strong narratives and entwined soulful pop melodies – a style that is quickly cementing the young London-based artist as a spokeswoman of her generation. She brings the same lively sensibility to her weekly #STAYHOME Instagram series, “Muller’s Corner,” featuring a mix of other artists and fans. It can be seen each Friday at 11:00 AM PT.

Prior to the stay-at-home order, Muller had completed a sold-out UK/EU headline tour and a 32-date run with Little Mix. Combined global streams of Muller’s song have already surpassed 52 million. “I Don’t Want Your Money” comes on the heels of her early 2020 single, “Therapist,” which landed on over 45 Spotify playlists as well as Apple Music’s A-List Pop, In My Room, Future Hits and more.   Muller notes, “I know what I want to say, and I know what the message is that I want to get across. I want women and young girls going through hard shit to put on my songs and feel better. We’re going through this together…”

LISTEN TO MODUS VIVENDI HERE

“A vital new singer makes her debut…an emo-rap Dark Side Of The Moon …Modus Vivendi suggests Enya and Pink Floyd as much as Frank Ocean…the sound of a realist and fantasist sparring, it reflects an artist still coming into focus on her own thrilling terms.”

“Ms. Balbuena’s voice is the record’s most extraordinary feature… The lush sonic backdrop, infused with strings and gentle drones, conveys an ethereal chamber-music setting altogether unusual for hip-hop and R&B.”

“On ‘Modus Vivendi’, she manages to craft a sound that’s anthemic, and built for festivals and clubs; but within the grooves, she’s precise… This is project sculpted away from current trends.”

“A sprawling journey across the emotional spectrum… while adequately booming, there’s a certain intimacy to ‘Modus;’ there are no featured verses — no voice other than Balbuena’s rasping lines across nearly an hour of music… the singularity of this project beams through with unsettling clarity.”

“She is constantly playing with contrasts—raw and smooth, light and dark, harsh and tender—and the songs on Modus Vivendi seem to shift with her mood.”

About 070 Shake
The title of 070 Shake’s debut album is Modus Vivendi — a Latin phrase used to reference a way of life in which two opposing parties can coexist peacefully. Art has always been Shake’s way of life, whether writing poetry as an outlet for depression or crafting playful rhymes about her teammates on bus rides to high school basketball games. “It was an escape for me with all of the frustrations and voices that were going on in my head. I’ve always felt that I had to do something with these words.”

All the way back to her childhood, this individualistic charm has always led the New Jersey-raised talent to stand out. Traditional schooling just wasn’t for Shake. Rather, she stuck out from peers with a natural knack for poetry and a profound love for basketball, even being deemed “Shake” for her crossover dribble. As she grew older, Shake became known for her rebellious nature, constantly causing trouble at school with countless pranks and a disinterest toward academics.

It was during these years, however, that Shake began to hone her artistic identity. From writing poems to falling in love with the cadences and storytelling of artists such as Alicia Keys and Kanye West, she quickly found a desire to start making music. Soon after, Shake began recording in a friend’s studio up until 2016, when the intensely vulnerable song “Proud” caught the ear of the legendary G.O.O.D. Music camp.

Shake signed to the label later that year, transitioning from manning kids’ bouncy castles in New Jersey to working with the likes of G.O.O.D. Music labelmates Kanye West and Pusha T, among others. Come 2018, she released the deeply personal EP, Glitter — a six-track culmination of diverse sounds and genres meant to chronicle the realities of love, depression, substance, and pain. Maintaining the same creativity that once fueled her high school poetry, she began to turn heads in the music world, becoming one of the year’s most talked-about names with her features on several other G.O.O.D. Music releases, namely the soul-stricken outro on Kanye West’s “Ghost Town” and her haunting vocals on Pusha T’s “Santeria.”

Today, in the wake of the release of Modus Vivendi, Shake is focused on bringing her reflective style to the spotlight with boundary-pushing creativity and pure emotional honesty as her compass. Detailing her creative process, “I just really go with how I feel in the moment and then that’s where the writing comes from. It’s like an ongoing disperse of words when I feel something.”

In a world obsessed with consumption, Shake is a much-needed breath of fresh air, more than ready to make her impact felt through music. In her own words, “I want it to make a change in the world. The agenda is bigger than just music.”

Additionally, “hello i am” paves the way for her forthcoming debut EP due later this year.

Let’s make this clear. somegirlnamedanna is not a brand. It is not an image. It is not an alter ego. Instead, it is the story of Anna, “a girl with a name like all of us are.”  Born and raised in a remote area of Minnesota, her imagination flourished without television or social media. An antique grand piano in the living room called to her as she repeated melodies and jingles from the radio by ear as a young child. While painting in the kitchen, mom played classics by Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell, and Tori Amos fueling her daughter’s love for music and the arts, in general. At the same time, she developed a knack for poetry and writing short stories at school, combining the two in songwriting eventually. Balancing college and bartending four nights a week, she spent countless hours in the studio writing and recording demos as well as developing her voice. After one listen to these early demos, LAVA Founder Jason Flom personally signed her in 2019. That brings us to her debut single “hello i am” available everywhere.

LOLA YOUNG SHARES NEW SONG, “PICK ME UP”

Track Is From Her New EP, Renaissance, Set For April 7 Release On Capitol Records

Download / Stream “Pick Me Up” HERE

Today, Capitol Records released “Pick Me Up,” a new song from Lola Young – the 19-year-old South London artist recently hailed as “a rising star” by MTV UK. Produced by frequent collaborator Manuka, the soulful “Pick Me Up” showcases Young’s wry, intelligent songwriting and remarkable vocal range. Download / stream “Pick Me Up” HERE. The track is from her forthcoming EP, Renaissance, which will be released on April 7.

“‘Pick Me Up’ is about the struggles of a relationship, and the highs and lows of being in love but also the difficulty of feeling like you only want a person more when they ‘let you down,’” says Lola Young, who will perform at London’s Courtyard Theatre tonight as part of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac’s AMP London 2020.

Young won acclaim for her fall 2019 debut EP, Intro , which contained such songs as “6 Feet Under,” Blind Love” and “3rd of Jan.” In its first week of release, “6 Feet Under” received more than 100,000 Spotify plays and streams now top 450,000. British GQ hailed the song as a “sultry pop banger.” Clash Magazine praised her video for “3rd Of Jan” as “a ruthlessly honest pop document…[it] finds Lola Young dancing alone in her dressing room, an intimate glimpse into her inner world.” View “3rd of Jan” HERE.

In a recent feature, Q Magazine observed, “Young’s songs bring her open-hearted lyricism and London Twang together with a neo-jazz sensibility with one foot always pointed in the direction of the nearest dancefloor.” Music Week described her music as “a red-raw mix of folky storytelling, hip-hop lyricism and soulful melodies.”

Drawing on a unique gift for writing songs that encapsulate and explore the human condition, Young turns extremely personal emotions into songs that resonate with universal truths. She began writing music at age 11. She won the 2015 Open Mic competition in the UK, beating over 9,000 acts with the original song “Never Enough.” Young is a recent graduate of the Brit School, whose alumni include Amy Winehouse, Adele, Freya Ridings, FKA Twigs, Jade Bird, Jessie J, Leona Lewis, Loyle Carner and Rex Orange County.

Hip Hop artist Blacc Zacc (South Coast Music Group/Interscope Records) has just released his new video, “Carolina Narco,” directed by Grizz Lee. The one-shot visual opens with the rapper being escorted from a private plane, presumably by members of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Blacc Zacc maintains his composure as he makes his way through a crowd of fans and reporters without breaking his stride or flow. Laced with wordplay, Blacc Zacc’s narcotics-infused lyrics make the track a strong addition to his growing catalog and a favorable introduction for new fans. Blacc Zacc recently signed with Interscope Records via South Coast Music Group; home to Charlotte artist, DaBaby. Known as “The Richest Rapper in South Carolina,” Blacc Zacc has released several mixtapes since 2010’s effort, 1st Round Draft Pick. His latest project, Trappin Like Zacc, was released via Interscope Records in July 2019 and featured DaBaby, Stunna 4 Vegas, LightSkinKeisha and Key Glock.
