Asiahn – Fall Back

R&B singer/songwriter Asiahn turns up the heat while taking it slow on her sultry new single, Fall Back, out today. Since the 80s / Motown Records. The track, an age-old tale of falling too hard and too fast, comes alongside a wine-soaked video that follows the intimate push-and-pull between two not-yet-official lovers. Watch the video.

As she’s proven before, Asiahn has a keen ability to dissect every emotion and stage of romance with a vulnerability that’s immediately felt. On Fall Back she boldly takes the reins, and sounds more convincing than ever. I just want to drive you crazy, she teases, over sizzling synth, bursts of sax, and glistening harp. But she’s not here to seduceߞnot yet.

Remarkably, Asiahn wrote Fall Back in about 15 minutes alongside producer Dreek Beatz. The story behind the song is, well, true, she laughs. I know we’ve all been in a situation where we’re trying to get to know someone casually. Then, of course, she falls in love anyways. It’s a song telling that person to fall back, you doing too much. Let’s just get to know each other and see if getting serious is even something we want to do. The video shows that conversation in action, from flirty Post-it notes to a playfully tipsy tete-a-tete.

A fan of all things futuristic and tech, Asiahn has teamed up with Verizon, Capitol Music Group (CMG) and Motown Records to give fans a new way to experience a music video. Using the ASIAHN app, fans can extend Asiahn’s “Fall Back” music video into their living rooms with Augmented Reality (AR). As the video plays on their TV or laptop, they can toggle between an ambient AR experience that plays in sync with the video and a volumetric capture (360-degree capture) of Asiahn dancing to her song in their room. The ASIAHN app, available September 29th on the Google Play and Apple ap stores, is the second project in Verizon and Capitol Music Group/Motown’s Emerging Tech and Emerging Artist Series.

Fall Back continues the Los Angeles-based artist’s transition from lovesick songstress to empowered star, as showcased on her Motown debut, The Interlude EP, released earlier this year. The EP debuted on multiple Billboard charts and earned Asiahn Billboard‘s Emerging Artist Spotlight, started at #33 on Apple Music Charts, and received support from fans and critics like Halle Berry, Lena Waithe, Keke Palmer, to American Songwriter Essence,Nylon,Refinery29, MarieClaire, and many more.

Asiahn will also be playing the title character in the upcoming Netflix animated series, Karma’s World, created by Ludacris. The show tells the story of a girl finding her voice and using it to change the world. Sounds like the ideal role for this 3x-Grammy-nominated talent who continues her steady rise, which includes being named Pandora’s Artist to Watch 2021, participating in Live Nation’s Black History Month, and Tidal Sessions performances.

Reebok’s Courting Greatness Campaign

Reebok’s “Courting Greatness” AR Tool, Campaign Empowers Players to Create Basketball Courts Anywhere

Local artist installations offer creative inspiration, tipped off in NYC by New York Sunshine Install Team for Question Mid “Iverson Four”

Today, Reebok officially launches “Courting Greatness,” its FW21 basketball campaign empowering youth to create playable basketball spaces where they may not exist. Central to the campaign is a digital tool that utilizes augmented reality to help players map out court features anywhere – on walls, fences, parking lots and alleyways. Throughout the season, to inspire creativity and build awareness around the tool, Reebok will work with local artists in major cities to construct playable basketball art installations, with the first coming from NYC creative collective New York Sunshine Install Team that will honor the upcoming Question Mid “Iverson Four”.

Carrying forward themes from Reebok’s latest film, CrateMaster, which shines light on the grit and creativity of inner city youth, as well as on accessibility issues in urban areas, “Courting Greatness” celebrates players on a local level. Using existing camera and measurement features in mobile phones, the “Courting Greatness” digital tool enables users to map out the exact (or rough) dimensions of a court, be it a free throw line, 10-foot hoop, three-point line or key.

“For kids and teens living in the city, basketball is the pre-eminent sport, but finding space to play can be especially challenging,” said Inga Stenta, Head of U.S. Marketing for Reebok. “We are continuously inspired by athletes who reimagine competition and find alternative ways to play. ‘Courting Greatness’ will help create access for these kids – and players of all levels and walks – whether they have a court or not.”

Demonstrating the tool’s creative potential and how a makeshift court may come to life, Reebok partnered with New York Sunshine Install Team, a contemporary art and fashion collective based in NYC, to create a court using raw, industrial materials, to initiate the campaign. The temporary installation is located at 36 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn. Local artists in LA, Philly and Atlanta will then be tapped for subsequent installations throughout the FW21 season, each uniquely bringing to life forthcoming Reebok basketball product releases.

Coinciding with the launch of “Courting Greatness” and this year’s summer games, Reebok is set to release its Question Mid “Iverson Four” sneaker inspired by the ’04 national team uniforms worn in Greece, where A.I. adorned jersey number “4”.

Hoopers can visit HERE today to access the augmented reality tool and get to work. The Question Mid “Iverson Four” is available globally in adult and kids unisex sizing from Foot Locker, Finish Line, Champs Sports and Reebok’s website, among other select retailers, beginning July 31.

LA ART SHOW ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH SUPERRARE AS THE OFFICIAL NFT MARKETPLACE OF THE SHOW

From Analog to Digital For 26 Years LA Art Show Has Embraced Art Trends And Conversations

In just a few short weeks, LA Art Show, the most comprehensive international contemporary art show in America, officially kicks-off the city’s 2021 art season at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This special Summer Edition–on the heels of the landmark 25-year anniversary and now with new director Kassandra Voyagis – takes a closer look at some of the latest technological trends in the art world, while still offering a conventional lens for art from around the globe. Taking a leap into the future, while remaining cognizant of the traditional contemporary and historical programming, the LA Art Show has incorporated a focus on women, art, and technology. Upholding a longstanding convention of paving the way for other fairs to follow suit, this year marks the LA Art Show as the first LIVE show to join one of the most buzzed-about conversations in art: NFTs. As a show with a strong traditional reputation, the integration of NFTs and other new technology is monumental, emphasizing the legitimacy and wonder of digital art. To supply the most comprehensive and accessible NFT introduction, the show has partnered with SuperRare as official marketplace partner, meaning patrons will be able to purchase the work immediately at the fair with the help of experts, removing anxiety surrounding the new kind of transaction.

To present the most striking and comprehensive NFT debut, the LA Art Show welcomes Vellum LA, the first physical gallery for NFT-backed digital art in Los Angeles, ahead of their launch in September. Vellum LA was created with the goal of meaningfully situating the digital and crypto art communities within the context of art history, while also educating the public on the potential of NFTs to impact the future of art. Aiming to bridge the gap between the physical and the digital world, the crypto and the traditional art collectors, Vellum LA presents carefully curated shows designed to be relevant to patrons on either end of the digital-analog spectrum, and anywhere in between.

This year’s LA Art Show is the ideal platform for Vellum LA programming, prioritizing NFTs whether it be an introduction for many of the patrons of the fair or an exciting addition for those who are already fans of the genre. Crafting the optimal first impression, Vellum LA presents Sea Change, a physical NFT exhibition in partnership with SuperRare, the show’s official marketplace partner. Sea Change will feature the works of 11 new media artists, whose work embraces our inevitable technological immersion, exploring the new language, materiality, and logic of the metaverse. The exhibition will include works by Claudia Hart, Auriea Harvey, Krista Kim, Marjan Moghaddam, Itzel Yard (Ix Shells), Blake Kathryn, Nicole Ruggiero, Sam Clover (PLANTTDADDII), Sabrina Ratté and more. Curated by Nxt Museum curator Jesse Damiani and Vellum LA curator Sinziana Velicescu, Sea Change is a model of collaboration in the art world. Bringing together not just artists, curators, but tech companies as well, this exhibition is a worthy preview of what NFTs have to offer. The show caters to the collector, both the already avid NFT fans and those who might not even know what NFT stands for yet. Thanks to the partnership with SuperRare, a pioneering online peer-to-peer marketplace for premium single edition NFTs built on the Ethereum blockchain, purchasing NFTs at the fair is highly accessible for anyone, whether they be tech savvy or previously luddite (just make sure to secure some ETH for purchases ahead of the event). Although NFTs have been around for a while now, the technology patrons will see is brand new, featuring state-of-the-art StandardVision LumaCanvas displays developed specifically for Sea Change and designed to be the first ever collector/museum-grade digital art display canvases.

The return of in-person programming has generated quite a few questions about the future of the art world, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that many artists want to have their work seen in person, and that is true of digital art as well. Velicescu is thrilled to bring this new kind of viewing experience to this special LIVE summer edition of the LA Art Show, noting that the return of live programming is important for NFTs and digital programming just as it is important for analog art.

Having curated work for large scale media facades at StandardVision, I understand the importance of the in-person experience. I think with everything re-opening, people will crave these experiences more than ever and I think there’s an opportunity to show this work in ways that hasn’t been shown before, taking into consideration all the complexities of digital art–some of the work is time based, some has the capability of being fully immersive, some involves AR.

The technology revolution does not stop there. White Cross Gallery is bringing their expertise from over 5 years of NFT experience along with 5 new releases, and NFT giveaways. Continuing the theme of technological advancements, one of the most highly anticipated traditional elements of the show is getting an upgrade as well, with the return of DIVERSEartLA. This important part of the fair, curated by Marisa Caichiolo, will focus on the presence, contributions, research, and documentation of women and non-binary artists at the forefront of work at the intersection of art, science, and technology, represented by guest museums and institutions. Continuing the theme of juxtaposing old and new, this fan-favorite section will expand upon previous years into new, more interactive, and technological ground. This year’s tech-focused exhibits include a wide range of mediums from AI to video and plenty in between. The San Marcos Museum of Art (MASM) from Lima, Perú, which will bring a new media project by Peruvian artist Angie Bonino. “THE SYMPHONY OF NOW,” consists of a video installation, and interactive sound installation focusing on the Andean techno de-colonial shamanism. Museum La Neomudejar from Madrid is bringing _DATA | ergo sum | RELOADED by artist Ana Marcos, an interactive art installation that visualizes the capability of viewing machines using artificial intelligence to extract data by a simple observation of visitors. Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) has joined with a special project curated by Fabian Goncálves, that will feature a compilation of material and an exhibition of the work of women artists who have played a central role in the development of new media practices throughout history and women and non-binary people whose forward-thinking practices are currently reshaping the field. The UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center is bringing a special project curated by Chon Noriega titled Immersive Distancing by LA-based artists Carmen Argote and Zeynep Abes, which will examine recent media art produced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Continuing the Los Angeles presence, Now Art LA and Building Bridges Art Exchange have joined forces as local non-profit organizations to exhibit the work Agua by Luciana Abait, a video projection created as part of LUMINEX Project by Now Art LA. This work is inspired by the flood-myth motif that occurs in many cultures, in which water acts a healing and rebirth tool, often referencing ideas of creation, purification, and sustaining life.

This year’s diversification of mediums continues with Tiffany Trenda, a multidisciplinary performance artist, known for exploring the relationship of the female body to today’s ever-changing technologies. In partnership with DIVERSEartLA, Trenda is safely bringing live performance to the art fair. Through the use of QR codes, she is coordinating a unique viewing experience for attendees. Each person can use their own smartphone to participate in real-time via volumetric video recording, creating an interactive and compelling experience.

The LA Art Show is excited to broach new artistic waters, welcoming back old friends and joining new ones for the first time. With the draw of a long-awaited in-person event, in conjunction with the groundbreaking new technology, tickets for this event are likely to sell quickly. Please visit the official website to learn more, tickets can be purchased here.

Projecting pop hooks through an alternative lens with a flair for dramatic presentation, Saint Motel make music worthy of the big screen. Streamed and viewed over half-a-billion times, the platinum-selling Los Angeles quartet magnify this vision with immersive live experiences and one unpredictable move after another. The group initially came together at film school before introducing themselves on 2012’s Voyeur. Signing to Elektra Records, their 2014 My Type EP boasted both the gold-certified title track “My Type” and fan favorite “Cold Cold Man.” In 2016, saintmotelevision yielded the smash “Move.” Flipping the script once again, the musicians reimagined the record with a series of history-making first-of-their-kind innovations: an award-winning Virtual Reality version and an Augmented Reality version. In 2019, Saint Motel launched their most ambitious undertaking yet, unveiling their third full-length album in three parts. First up, they uncovered The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Pt. 1 powered by the shimmy and shake of Alternative Top 15 lead single “Van Horn.” Between packing houses coast to coast on headline jaunts and earning acclaim from People, Billboard, and more, the four-piece rolled out Pt. 2 throughout 2020. In addition to unforgettable sets everywhere from Coachella and Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo, the boys lit up shows such as NBC’s TODAY, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden, among others.

Tribeca Immersive unveils experience to save orca whales

The Tribeca Immersive event during the 20th Annual Tribeca Festival will see the launch of Critical Distance, a social augmented reality (AR) experience built to engage audiences toward long-term protection of marine wildlife. Harnessing the power of Microsoft HoloLens 2, Critical Distance blends projection and holograms to bring audiences into the world of the Salish Sea, home of the endangered Southern Resident orcas and their struggle for a sustainable future.

Within a custom-built projection environment, audiences of four each wear the latest Microsoft Hololens 2 wearable technology to interact with the Critical Distance characters and narrative. Immersed in the underwater world of Salish Sea audiences connect with J pod, a close-knit family of 24 Southern Resident orcas with a spotlight on Kiki — a six-year-old female who carries the fate of the pod on her shoulders. The groundbreaking storytelling harnesses technology to help us see below the surface in an entirely new way, empowering audiences to “see sound” as they experience Kiki’s world of echolocation and her struggle to compete with human activity. This educational exploration narrated by youth climate justice activist and Co-Executive Director of Zero Hour Jamie Margolin, highlighting scientific efforts focused on Orca preservation, aims to entertain, inform, connect and motivate audiences to take action to support this critical species

Following the launch at the 20th Annual Tribeca Festival, Critical Distance will continue on to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History for a nine-month installation. Audiences are invited to experience Critical Distance between June 9-20, with tickets and advanced booking available at Tribeca.

Carly Gibert "Interstellar" image via Abby Harari at Def Jam Recordings and 10:22PM for use by 360 Magazine

Carly Gibert QxA

Carly Gibert is a 19-year-old house, R&B, and pop music artist, who recently was signed to 10:22PM/Def Jam Recordings. The bi-lingual, Spanish born singer just released her groovy single, “Interstellar,” which reflects on her move from Spain to LA. The disco-inspired bop appears on NOW Volume 79, and can be listened to HERE. Gibert has been making music since the age of four, and her passion for creating is evident in all of her releases. We sat down with the rising house star to speak about the inspiration behind her latest release, her songwriting process, and whats to come next in 2021.

  1. What inspired you to write “Interstellar?”

“Interstellar” is about trying to make someone care for you as much as you care for them. You would do anything for the other person, but they only think about what’s best for them. When I moved to LA from Spain–where I was born and raised–I kind of started a new life, it felt like living in another universe. “Interstellar” actually means “living between stars,” and that is how LA felt to me. It only took me moving to the other side of the planet to realize that I wasn’t taking care of myself. It also references the movie Interstellar (which is one of my favorite movies of all time) with its theme of leaving your life behind and starting over in an entirely different setting.

  1. How would you describe the sound of “Interstellar” in three words?

Futuristic, disco and progress.

  1. What musicians influence your music style the most?

Not specifically for this song, but I grew up with and have always been very inspired by Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Mac Miller and Tyler the Creator. I definitely grew up on house music as well, since my dad would play it at home all the time; and I think you can actually hear that on “Interstellar.” The song has a kind of house vibe to it.

  1. What does your song writing process usually look like? Was this process the same for the writing of “Interstellar”?

I usually start off with one of the 100,000 notes on my phone. I write notes every single day–anywhere, anytime. You never know when the inspiration is going to hit, so this is how I keep track of my thoughts. When I find a lyric idea or a concept that resonates with how I’m feeling, I start writing random lines around it. At first, it honestly doesn’t make any sense and nothing rhymes. At that point, it’s all about placing the right lines in the right places and making them fit into a melody. This was also the writing process of “Interstellar.” I sometimes like to start with the melodies, though, and just build the lyrics based on the melody.

  1. If you could design your dream music festival where you were the headlining act, who would you choose to perform alongside?

If we’re talking about VERY ambitious dreams, I would obviously say Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Kanye. Then, of course, Frank Ocean, Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Doja Cat, Audrey Nuna, SZA, BIA, Anderson .Paak, Rosalía, Saint Bodhi, Little Simz, Kali Uchis, Kaytranada, Rico Nasty, Tinashe, Ryan Beatty, Daniel Caesar, Miguel, Jorja Smith…there are too many great artists.

  1. What has it been like being signed and working with 10:22PM/DefJam?

If someone told me 3 years ago that I would be working with the people I’m working with today, I wouldn’t believe them. The people I’ve met and am surrounded by are some of the people I look up to the most, and I’m so grateful for everyone who made it possible. I have a very close relationship with everyone on my team. I speak to my A&R literally every day, and I’m so lucky to be able to talk directly to the label if I ever need something. I’m super involved in all aspects of my career, so having a direct relationship with the label is very reassuring.

  1. What is something about you or your music that fans might not expect?

I would definitely say singing in Spanish. It’s something I’ve never done before, and I’m so excited to do it. I don’t have any full songs in Spanish at the moment, but I do have some verses here and there. The next song I’m releasing actually includes Spanish verses. Growing up, I was very insecure about singing in Spanish because I thought my accent was weird. It didn’t flow as naturally as English did, even though Spanish is my first language. Through the years, I’ve been practicing improving my diction and I feel a lot more comfortable now. I guess I just had to make it my own and embrace the “Spanish person who can’t articulate Spanish” aspect of myself.

  1. What is next to come from you in 2021?

I have two more songs that I really love coming out in the next couple of months. Hopefully an EP by the end of the year? (Nobody confirmed that—I just made it up—but I’m putting it out in the world). To be honest, all I want to do this year is release all the music I’ve been working on for the past 2 years. These songs are so special to me, and I can’t wait for everyone to listen to what I have to say.

QuantumERA × Battle of Gettysburg

Free and Early Release of Mixed-Reality App that Recreates Battle of Gettysburg

Gettysburg: A Nation Divided has pushed its launch date and waived download fees to assist teachers, parents, and students

Parents and teachers are in search of educational solutions as millions of students are now learning from home.  To help and expand their choices, a new mixed-reality app that recreates the Battle of Gettysburg is launching early.  Normally priced at $12.99, the app will be free of charge for a limited time.

QuantumERA‘s Gettysburg: A Nation Divided, is a mobile experience that envelopes students in the battle as it unfolds around them. Narrated by actor Scott Eastwood, the app’s immersive scenes transport users to 1863 with 360-degree views and avatars of men and women who were involved in the battle. Included is an artifact scavenger hunt with the ability to earn points. The student’s involvement and interactivity provide a better understanding of what happened during the turning point of the Civil War.

“Working from home while schooling our two children has been overwhelming,” said mother of two, Laura Aplin. The Gettysburg app ”has been an educational retreat for our kids. Not only are they learning about one of the most important battles in American history, but they are also able to travel through time and outside of our home. They’re not just watching something, they’re part of the experience. The added blessing is that it allows me to dedicate more time to work knowing that the kids are engaged in something productive.”

Gettysburg: A Nation Divided unites historical scholarship and mixed-reality platforms to transform students from being in the audience to becoming part of the experience. This is a critical point of engagement in a world of video games and social media, where audiences are craving highly visual and interactive experiences.

“The world we live in has changed so dramatically in a matter of weeks,” said Lane Traylor, CEO of QuantumERA. “The QuantumERA team wanted to help by waiving fees to help children learn and also escape for a while. “We believe Starlight Xperience has the potential to transform the hospital experience for millions of seriously ill children and their families,” said Chris Helfrich, CEO of Starlight Children’s Foundation. “We’re thrilled to stand beside The Walt Disney Company, Google, Lenovo and Niagara Cares in unveiling this exciting new program, which is the latest evolution in our 35-year history of bringing innovative entertainment technologies to hospitalized kids.”

“Providing these unique entertainment experiences reflects our commitment to bring comfort during what can be difficult times for kids and families. This is part of our Disney Team of Heroes initiative, which includes a $100 million commitment to children’s hospitals,” said Elissa Margolis, senior vice president, Enterprise Social Responsibility for The Walt Disney Company. “The collaboration with Google and Lenovo is the perfect blend of technology and content that we’ll be able to deliver to kids during their hospital stay.”

“Our goal has always been to create virtual reality experiences that are accessible, useful, and relevant to as many people as possible,” said Amit Singh, VP of Business & Operations for AR & VR at Google. “Starlight Xperience is a shining example of that goal coming to life in a really great way. We’re thrilled to be able to support Starlight in bringing transporting VR experiences to hospitalized children across the country.”

“We are thrilled to be working with Starlight and Google to bring technology to hospitalized children in their time of need. Helping to provide a solution for the children and their families allows us to truly make a difference for the better,” said Gunjan Shah, general manager for North America Smart Devices at Lenovo.

Starlight Xperience was developed in part through a series of grants provided by Starlight to the CHARIOT program (short for Childhood Anxiety Reduction through Innovation and Technology) at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. CHARIOT implements new technologies in the hospital that are nontraditional yet familiar to children to engage and distract them during stressful or painful procedures, keeping clinical usage in mind and improving upon the typical hospital experience. This past summer, Starlight Xperience was soft launched and tested at five children’s hospitals: Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, Children’s Hospital Colorado, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, Minn., and Texas Children’s Hospital.

“At Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, virtual reality has been a fantastic addition for our patients,” said Chantel Barney, Ph.D., a clinical scientist who leads Gillette’s VR program. “In some instances, we’ve been able to curb the anxiety and fears our kids typically experience during procedures such as blood draws, transfusions, wound cleanings, casting and more. It’s a wonderful distraction for kids and parents alike.”

“We’re proud to support Starlight Xperience and look forward to bringing smiles to the faces of hospitalized children through this educational and inspirational program,” said Andrew Peykoff II, President and CEO, Niagara Bottling. “This technology makes learning fun and we’re excited to expand the program to even more children.”

Thanks to the grants provided by The Walt Disney Company and Niagara Cares, in addition to the generosity of charitable donations from individuals, Starlight is on track to deliver up to 1,000 Starlight Xperience kits to its network of hospital partners by the end of 2018, with a goal of doubling that by the end of 2019. A donation to Starlight will entertain, educate and inspire hospitalized kids across the US through stimulating immersive experiences that transport children from the hospital to any place in the world – or beyond – through the magic of virtual reality.

The public is invited to learn more and support the program online at www.starlight.org/starlight-xperience.
