Four Tips to Level Up Your Business

The new year invites you to reflect on old practices, abandoning those that no longer serve your purposes and embracing those that bring the changes you seek. What daily procedures add unnecessary stress and “fat” to your operations, and which can propel your organization to the next level?

Every enterprise is different, requiring leaders to spend time in mindfulness. They must examine where they want their organization to go and the best path for getting there, keeping in mind current societal trends and realities such as a changing climate.

Savvy business leaders draw inspiration from Taoist wu wei principles, meeting the demands of the world as it is instead of fighting like salmon swimming upstream in a futile attempt to change the course of unyielding tides. Embracing these principles entails a seismic mindset shift from the western philosophy of “the hardest path brings the most rewards.” Still, it can result in greater success and happiness among your team. How? Here are four tips to level up your business in 2023.

1. Take Maximum Advantage of Technology Solutions

Technology changes for the average person in the blink of an eye. It moves even more quickly in the business world as profit-driven economic models demand innovations for large organizations able to pay the price. The result? A world of apps and programs for streamlining your daily operations while maximizing profits.

Today’s AI goes far beyond keeping your company running on schedule. It can map your retail stores, advising you of the optimal product placement for maximizing sales. Builders can use virtual reality in construction project planning, but this isn’t the only application of such software. It also enables you to immerse clients in an interactive experience to highlight the benefits of your services.

Even the humble business card has evolved. As the world goes paperless, more organizations employ an electronic version that immediately stores your contact information in a prospective client’s cellphone, ensuring you’re only a click away when they need you.

What other solutions should you consider? Here are four ways technology solutions can help you level up your business in 2023:

  • Smart contracts: Does it seem like every legal contract covers the same territory? Smart contracts keep the essential language intact for legal compliance while allowing you to customize terms for specific clientele.
  • Advanced positioning technology: Keep track of where your packages are in transit. Instead of providing customers with rough delivery estimates, you can pinpoint their product’s arrival and tell them where it is in the supply chain at any given time.
  • Cloud technology: These solutions allow diverse teams to connect over broad geographic areas while keeping your information secure. They also minimize downtime due to inoperable devices.
  • Blockchain technology: A blockchain is a decentralized ledger for recording transactions. While the financial applications are obvious, this technology also plays crucial roles in health care when protecting patient information and ensuring continuity of care.

2. Keep the Human Element First and Foremost

The COVID-19 pandemic gave birth to the Great Reset, and businesses and individuals are still struggling to integrate their daily routines and operations into this new reality. While the media abounds with stories of conflicts between C-suite executives and their workforce, they ignore the opportunity inherent in this moment to redefine the business world and make it more human and sustainable.

Lee Iacocca said years ago that business is, after all, nothing more than a bunch of human relationships. However, many leaders need to pay more attention to the one they have with their staff. For example, multiple companies have seen top talent flee after issuing seemingly arbitrary “return to the office” orders amid soaring profits when their workforce is happier and more productive from home.

Before issuing such edicts, mindfully reflect on what you hope to accomplish. Is it increased collaboration? If so, could you meet that objective by offering a more flexible hybrid schedule? Decrease expenses by exchanging pricy single-use downtown real estate and instead investing in less costly co-working spaces for occasional meetings.

If your only objective is to exercise more power and control over your staff, reflect carefully on that decision. Why make more unnecessary work for yourself if the numbers show remote performance offers equivalent productivity, especially if it results in top talent leaving for less capricious shores? You could be killing the proverbial golden-egg-laying goose. Reality shows the following benefits of remote and hybrid work:

  • Fewer commuters: Resulting in fewer emissions and less stress from battling traffic.
  • Improved productivity: While study numbers vary, most show a significant increase in overall productivity when employees choose their workspace.
  • Decreased sick days: Telecommuting allows workers to perform on those days when they can handle light desk duty but don’t want to infect the entire office.
  • Fewer costs: Pricy lease agreements aside, it’s far less expensive for businesses to allow telecommuting. It costs money to secure the premises and run the lights and heat beyond rent.

3. Embrace Environmental Responsibility

The evidence for climate change is evident everywhere in changing weather patterns. These disruptions will only grow more severe if people fail to take action now, costing businesses untold thousands in reparation costs in coming years and taking an unimaginable toll in terms of human suffering.

Furthermore, embracing sustainable efforts can drive profits. Several recent studies indicate consumers will pay more for eco-friendliness. They also prefer to do business with companies that share their values, such as environmental consciousness and corporate responsibility.

What can you do to green your organization? Much depends on your budget and objectives, but these ideas can help you defray costs while improving your environmental footprint:

  • Use local suppliers: Build your reputation with other business leaders in your community while reducing shipping costs and the resulting emissions from transport.
  • Go paperless: Digital signage reduces the need for printing, and email or collaboration apps can replace old-fashioned memos, improving data security while reducing waste.
  • Make environmental upgrades: Is it time for a new building? Consider LEED-certified builders to make your new structure comply with the highest environmental standards. Putting in parking? A covered lot with solar panels lets electric vehicle owners charge their rides while at work, keeps customers cooler and provides surplus green energy to the grid.
  • Set up green initiatives: You can increase community visibility by participating in local cleanups or sponsoring such efforts.

4. Interact With Your Customers

The final tip to level up your business in 2023 is perhaps the easiest — ask your customers what they want. This simple task alone can propel your name above and beyond the rest in a world where many products don’t even come with instructions anymore, let alone a dedicated customer service line where confused buyers can get support.

How can your customers reach you? Make it clear how they can get in touch by providing this information on product packaging and your company website. Consider contracting with a third-party organization to provide telephone and chat support.

Finally, use algorithms to your advantage. It’s a snap to add “like/dislike” buttons or include electronic feedback forms that generate reports enabling you to judge the popularity of various offerings.

While attending the NGLCC Conference 2022 in Las Vegas, 360 MAGAZINE’s President Vaughn Lowery had the chance to chat with Dino.

As the CEO of fábrica de bots, the business conducts a variety of services that include the use of chat bots to enhance instant messaging platforms. Striving to provide connections for businesses and their customers, Dino shed light on the functionality of the WhatsApp platform for corporate enterprises. Committed to simplifying communication tactics for both parties, their main focus is to “make people’s lives simpler.”

WhatsApp allows people around the world communicate for varying services. As around 86% of Mexico already use the platform, Dino aims to continue to expand fábrica de bots internationally.

The firm works primarily with civil society organizations, something that Dino has been passionate about for her entire career. She traveled to New York in 2012 where she attended NYU Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service, obtaining an MPA in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy.

Working in New York for around seven years, Dino continued her career at NYU’s Governance Laboratory conducting work “dedicated to deepening our understanding of how to govern more effectively and legitimately through technology.”

Continuing to innovate and change the world of tech, Dino wants to continue to help other civil organizations expand their services via WhatsApp. “We’re very focused on that, our slogan is ‘changing the world one bot at a time.’”

Dino continued, stating, “And if we can do something to make our lives easier, and there’s a lot of space for improvement in term of services, […] we should do it, but we should do it intentionally.”

Marc Seal

Listen to Marc Seal on the 360 MAG Podcast HERE.

Marc Seal is a successful entrepreneur and seasoned technologist focused on applying blockchain and NFT technologies to the digital sports and entertainment spaces. He leads innovative teams to create world-class products with partners like Disney, Marvel, Fox, Lucasfilm, Toho, MLB, and more.

He is currently the co-founder/CEO of Sortium Blockchain Studio and a pioneer of the Play 2 ecosystem. They focus on futuristic concepts and progressive core loops, as well as emphasizing on application of blockchain technologies and non-fungible tokens to entertainment spaces and digital games. His professional goal is to create an immersive digital experience that engages and entertains fans around the world.

On the other hand, Marc Seal is founder of CryptoGene, the first play-to-win web3 game where players genetically modify creatures called “Kymera” as the world’s first 3D living NFTs with DNA on-chain. By staking and caring for Kymera, players can earn tokenized resources to sell on the market, upgrade creatures, or create new ones. As Marc points out, “These are genetically engineered fantasy creatures that appear in Shane’s DNA through using real sharp DNA that we’ve unleashed via artificial intelligence and simulation using to advance Olympic learning systems.”

The main goal is “providing high-fidelity technology and advancements and artificial intelligence simulation game engine technology or 3D engine technology,” as Marc states. Without a doubt, Marc is clear that this type of games between the simulation and the real world “will alleviate the friction between user participation and the transition between various ecosystems.”

Marc is clear that this type of game must have the quality of AAA and web 3 technology since these “really innovate, specifically the number of verse or image publications, and provide player-specific experiences.”

The most important thing is that everything is built around a high-fidelity gaming experience that’s “fun and it’s not just about how do we open something’s eyes but how do we provide value to a player in the economy to have a fun experience that’s scalable and fun,” Adds Marc.

One of the main things that Marc considers is the importance to remember that not even 1% of the population knows what crypto modes are or even the interaction that can be had with the use of NFC. Marc and his team are certain in knowing that the volume is there to learn about regarding this new technological and digital world.

While gaining more knowledge of the system, users may want to take the license to have the responsibility of managing individual accounts well. Next, you will have the ability to do so, as this is a part of the platform created by Marc and his team whose ultimate goal is, “wanting to reduce friction, but give users the freedom to evolve towards decentralized ownership over time,” adds Marc.

CryptoGene

CryptoGene is constantly developing and improving services for current and future investors. Marc adds that his profession comes from this ‘platform’, an economy and game development, AAA development that works with a type of important game design or experience design, so they work on taking principles that generate a profitable and scalable game. Today, they have concentrated on building an ecosystem infrastructure to launch with crypto Gene, “that allows players to log in and then be able to spend money the way any player would log into a game and spend money today.”

After 20 years as a software architect and developer, Mikee Trompeta began his Web3 journey by building a cryptocurrency exchange.

Although the entire crypto market crashed, leaving most investors and blockchain enthusiasts uncertain of Web3’s future, the price of Bitcoin and Ethereum exploaded. Large corporate entities together with the general public began to take notice.

Months later, NFT pioneer Gary Vaynerchuk set the standard for NFT projects when he launched VeeFriends. Soon after, Mikee liquidated all of his cryptocurrencies and wagered everything on VeeFriends. It was one of his best decisions to date.

Today, JDM Labs is dedicated to launching revolutionary NFTs and Web3 DAPPs.

UMG ACQUIRES FRANK ZAPPA’S ESTATE

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, announced an agreement between Moon, Dweezil, Ahmet and Diva Zappa (the Zappa Trust) to acquire Frank Zappa’s estate on June 30, 2022, including his expansive recordings, publishing catalog of iconic songs, film archive, and the complete contents of The Vault, the near mythic storage facility that houses the late Zappa’s life’s work. The content spans the prolific four-decade career of the legendary, boundary-pushing musician, acclaimed composer, virtuoso guitarist, and prominent activist.

With the acquisition, which additionally includes Frank Zappa’s name and likeness, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe), UMG’s global catalog company, and Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), the company’s leading music publisher, will build on the company’s already successful track record of working with the Zappa Trust to amplify Frank Zappa’s career as a trailblazer, iconoclast, brilliant musician and fearless artist who challenged music and culture with his unconventional and uncompromising vision and advocacy.

Under the new agreement, UMPG acquires Zappa’s complete publishing catalog including  “Watermelon In Easter Hay,” “Cosmik Debris,” “Peaches En Regalia,” “Uncle Remus,” “Joe’s Garage” and hundreds more. Described by American Songwriter as a “compositional genius,” Zappa is known for writing songs offering sage advice (“Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow”) to astute cultural critiques (“Valley Girl” and “Trouble Every Day”), disco satire (“Dancin’ Fool”) to serious orchestral compositions (“The Perfect Stranger” and “Strictly Genteel”).

The Zappa Trust said, “Ten years ago, Gail Zappa partnered with UMe to bring Frank Zappa’s music into the digital era and help expand the Frank Zappa business around the world, setting in motion a fruitful partnership that has resulted in exponential growth. Together over the last decade we made Frank’s vast catalog of music available for streaming and download, reissued many of his pivotal albums on vinyl, created a slew of exciting archival releases and expansive box sets, including a series celebrating FZ’s legendary Halloween concerts, and were nominated for a Grammy for the 200 Motels (The Suites) orchestral album. UMG have more than proven their passion for Frank’s art and so the entire Zappa family – Moon, Dweezil, Ahmet and Diva – is thrilled to pass the baton to the new forever stewards for all things Frank Zappa. Old and new fans will get more of what they want – more Frank Zappa music for years to come. Frank released his first album with Verve Records in 1966 with The Mothers Of Invention’s debut album, Freak Out!, so this is a very full circle moment more than five decades later and we know that his music and legacy will be in the best possible hands for generations to come.”

UMe President & CEO Bruce Resnikoff said, “It has been a privilege to work with the Zappa family to release Frank Zappa’s music around the world, grow his audience, and protect his legacy for the past decade. Zappa was a pioneering, visionary artist who created an incredible body of work and we are incredibly proud that Gail, and now his children, have entrusted us with his important legacy. We will continue to develop innovative ways to celebrate his vast and influential catalog for both longtime fans and those just discovering his genius. As a prolific artist well ahead of his time, Frank Zappa was constantly creating and recording and he left behind a treasure trove of extraordinary still-unreleased music and video in his Vault that will help us usher in the next era of Frank Zappa fans.”

Marc Cimino, Chief Operating Officer of Universal Music Publishing Group, said, “A powerful voice in music and culture, Frank Zappa was one of the most brilliant artists of his time. We are honored to welcome Zappa’s influential song catalog and that his estate has chosen UMG to uphold his artistry and to grow his immense legacy throughout the world.”

Over the last decade working closely together, the Zappa Trust and UMe have revitalized Frank Zappa’s catalog through a steady stream of thrilling archival releases, vinyl reissues of his classic albums, streaming initiatives, and by making his music more widely available around the globe than ever before. UMG has grown streams of Zappa’s music by double-digit percentages each year and recently much of Zappa’s catalog was made available in Hi-Res Audio for download and streaming for the first time. On the heels of UMe and the Zappa Trust’s multipronged efforts, and Alex Winter’s acclaimed 2020 feature documentary “Zappa,” of which UMe provided the soundtrack, Zappa and his music have experienced a newfound popularity that only continues to grow nearly two decades after his death.

In 2012, Zappa Records and the Zappa Trust – headed by his widow, Gail Zappa – made Zappa’s entire recorded catalog available digitally for the first time through a partnership with UMe, with half of the albums remastered from the original analog sources and the remaining albums retransferred and prepared from the original digital tapes for CD and streaming and download. Many albums were also remastered for reissue on vinyl. Shortly after, the Zappa Trust entered into an agreement with UMe for a global license and distribution deal that saw the release of 60 of Zappa’s recordings. In 2015, they partnered on a long-term, global licensing agreement for Zappa’s entire recorded catalog, as well as rights management participation across the rest of the cultural icon’s creative canon. The partnership grew into an expansive license with Resnikoff and UMe that also includes new product releases, trademark licensing, film, and theatrical production.

To date, there have been 122 official Zappa releases, however, that only scratches the surface of what the future holds as it represents a small fraction of the recordings in Zappa’s expansive and exhaustive Vault that have been made publicly available. An obsessive documenter, Zappa recorded nearly every session, rehearsal, live performance, and even casual jam in a variety of audio and video formats across nearly his entire life. UMG plans to dive into The Vault for new archival projects for decades to come. Additionally, with Zappa’s name and likeness, UMG will engage existing fans and new audiences around the world with merchandise, feature films, interactive experiences, as well as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and other next-generation Web3 projects.

From his early psychedelic rock beginnings to his avant-garde experimentation, jazz-rock explorations, symphonic suites and satirical sendups to his conceptual, compositional and technological innovations, Zappa, who was named Czechoslovakia’s “Special Ambassador to the West on Trade, Culture and Tourism” in 1990 by Vaclav Havel, shattered the norms every step of the way and his influence and ethos continues to reverberate as strongly today as ever.

In his unprecedented and incredibly prolific career, Zappa released more than 60 groundbreaking albums during his lifetime, as a solo artist and with his bands, The Mothers of Invention and The Mothers. From the early primal psychedelic rock of The Mothers Of Invention’s 1966 debut album, Freak Out!, one of the earliest double albums in rock, to the jazz-rock fusion of 1969’s’s Hot Rats, to the experimental, envelope pushing of 1969’s Uncle Meat and 1971’s surrealistic film and soundtrack, 200 Motels, to the orchestral compositions of his later years, Zappa’s unrelentless artistic drive, pushed him into a dizzying array of musical worlds, never content to stay in one lane for very long.

In addition to those albums, some of the many highlights of his voluminous discography of studio and live albums include We’re Only in it for the Money (1968), Burnt Weeny Sandwich (1970), Chunga’s Revenge (1970), Apostrophe(‘) (1974), Zoot Allures (1976), Zappa In New York (1978), Joe’s Garage (1979), Sheik Yerbouti (1979), Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch (1982), Jazz From Hell (1986) and the final album to be released in his lifetime, The Yellow Shark (1993).

Following Zappa’s passing in 1993, there have been more than 60 posthumous releases, beginning with 1994’s Cilvization Phaze III and spanning from Zappa’s last album completed before his death, Dance Me This, released in 2015 as his 100th album, to elaborate and expanded multi-disc box sets for such albums as 200 MotelsHot RatsOrchestral FavoritesZappa In New York, as well as super deluxe editions of his legendary Halloween concerts, complete with costumes, and other live favorites like The Roxy Performances. Recent releases include Zappa ’88: The Last U.S. Show, a box set titled The Mothers 1971, which celebrates Zappa’s 1971 lineups, and Zappa/Erie, a six-disc collection that brings together an exciting trio of previously unreleased concerts that the Maestro performed in Erie, Pa. and the surrounding area between 1974-76.

Zappa, who died of prostate cancer when he was 52, was a composer, virtuoso guitarist, songwriter, artist’s rights champion, provocateur, anti-censorship advocate, a musical pioneer, and one-time cultural ambassador to Czechoslovakia. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and awarded the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 1997.

VOICE X SUH FAMILY FOUNDATION

Voice, the digital art marketplace, is pleased to announce a partnership with Katya Suh and the Suh Family Foundation on a $40,000 commitment to support digital artists. The Foundation is the first ever partner for Voice’s Astronaut Club Charity Matching Program, an initiative designed for nonprofit and family foundations to support emerging artists in Web3. The program has a dedicated focus on independent artists from underrepresented and marginalized communities, with resources going directly to artists through collecting their NFTs on Voice.

The Suh Family Foundation works hand-in-hand with communities to supply resources across three pillars that were pivotal to the Suh’s own success: education, health and wellness, and empowerment. With efforts led by Katya, the Suh Family Foundation has worked with Voice over the past three months to produce a program that provides the best support for artists on the platform.

The Suh Family Foundation will be collecting pieces from the forthcoming Voice x Street Theory NFT Collection, which was produced by some of the world’s best street artists in their foray into the digital space.

The Suh Family Foundation is passionate about helping individuals on their journey to empowerment,” said Katya Suh, co-founder of the Suh Family Foundation. “Our work with the Foundation aligns so closely with Voice’s dedication to supporting multicultural artists and we look forward to all the great work this partnership will empower artists to create.”

Voice has long focused on supporting emerging artists through multiple residency programs and curation efforts. This new opportunity showcases the best form of support: collecting their art enables them to continue creating.

“If we can help a digital artist get one step closer to making their side hustle their main hustle, we feel we are moving in the right direction,” said Salah Zalatimo, Voice CEO.

The art world isn’t known for its diversity. In fact, the top 18 museums in the U.S. have collections that are 87% male and 85% white. Though it’s often lauded as a great equalizer, Web3 has started to show early signs of mirroring some of the inequities of Web2. Voice is proud to make a public commitment to supporting artists from all walks of life as they enter the digital space.

Will we Have Complete Control of Our Own Environments in the Metaverse?

The metaverse is on the way, and the hype around it is gaining serious traction. It could be completely transformative, changing the internet as we know it. It will have a major effect on many industries, with social media expected to be at the forefront of this new platform.

Social media users today have a multitude of privacy options so they can control what people see. However, there are questions about how and if this will translate to the metaverse.

Social Media Users Are Currently Able to Select Their Privacy Options

One of the reasons why social media sites have enjoyed such amazing success is the fact that users can tailor their own environments. They can see what they want to see and show people what they want to show them.

A lot of social media users value their privacy with the utmost importance. Nearly 80 percent of Facebook and Instagram members have adjusted their privacy settings in the last year, highlighting how crucial these features are.

According to an infographic from ExpressVPN, there are various ways to stay safe and private on social media. This includes having multiple accounts for different purposes, reviewing photo tags, and limiting posts to close friends. Users have so much control over these settings that they can create their own social media experience.

How Will This Translate to the Metaverse?

Because so much is unknown about the metaverse right now, it’s hard to know how these privacy settings will translate to this new world. According to XR Today, the metaverse will serve a wide variety of functions. This will include socializing, working, and playing. If people are using this world for different things, it may mean that their settings will have to alter depending on what they are doing.

Users may interact with the metaverse on different levels, some of which will give them more control than others. It’s reasonable to imagine that in social scenarios, everyone will have the power to show and see things in the same way they do now. However, when entering wider social settings like groups or entertainment zones, users may be exposed to content that they have no power over.

Metaverse inhabitants may still be able to block people as they can today on social media. If they encounter a blocked person in a social setting, they may not be able to see the face of their avatar or interact with them in any way.

There are already some theories about this, such as the ideas posed by Futurism. Metaverse users may be able to block things that they don’t want to see and go about constructing their own virtual worlds over time. Eventually, this could lead to bespoke experiences for everyone who enters the metaverse.

There’s no doubt that it’s going to take time for users to adapt to the metaverse. It is also likely to go through a lot of teething problems before it is as advanced as the world of social media today. Users have grown accustomed to constructing their own online spaces, though, and the metaverse is likely to offer similar options.
