Actum LLC announces Ruben Diaz Jr. as Co-Chair via 360 MAGAZINE

ACTUM PUBLIC STRATEGY

Actum LLC, the fastest growing public strategy firm in the United States, today announces Ruben Diaz Jr. has joined the company as Co-Chair.

The former Bronx Borough President and New York State Assemblymember brings unprecedented experience and a deep network to Actum’s leadership team and valuable guidance on the inner workings of government for clients.

As Co-Chair, Diaz Jr. adds to Actum’s formidable capabilities in government, communications and activation of communities of color and will offer key insight into the political landscape of New York and across the country.

“Actum is building an extraordinary platform that drives outcomes for clients while elevating the voices of communities of color. In less than a year, it has established itself as a global powerhouse, a direct result of its strong core values and quality people leading each client engagement. I am honored to join this team and help the company grow,” said Ruben Diaz Jr.

“Ruben was a transformational Borough President who united diverse communities to usher in a new era for the Bronx. Thanks to that work, the borough is today a booming global destination. His leadership, vision, and bridge-building skills will be an asset to Actum, which has quickly established itself as one of the leading coalition builders in Black and Brown communities. We are happy to welcome Ruben to our team,” said Rachel Noerdlinger, Partner at Actum.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Ruben to our team and know he will make an immediate impact on our company and clients. Actum’s strategists have served in the highest levels of government, media and business and translate that high level experience to outcomes for clients. Ruben’s addition to our team is further evidence that we are building something different at Actum,” said Michael McKeon, Partner at Actum.

“I am happy to congratulate Ruben on this incredible opportunity. He is already a force in the Black and Brown community and my brother will continue to build opportunities for us in his role as Chairman at Actum,” said Fat Joe, hip hop legend, Bronx community advocate and longtime friend of the Borough President.

“Ruben is a tremendous addition to the Actum team. He is an icon in the Bronx and a respected statesman in national politics. The same innovation and creativity he brought to the Borough President’s office will bring real value to Actum and its clients,” said Antonio Villaraigosa, Co-Chair at Actum and former Mayor of Los Angeles.

“Actum’s national Black and Brown public affairs team, led by Rachel Noerdlinger and supported by Fabian Nunez, Antonio Villaraigosa and a cadre of young, talented professionals, just got even stronger with Ruben’s addition,” said the Rev. Al Sharpton, who earlier this year tapped Diaz as a board member for the National Action Network. “Whether it is standing up for the people of Vieques, Puerto Rico who endured generational damage from Navy bombing exercises, fighting for justice for the family of Amadou Diallo, or moving the Bronx forward as a City and State elected official, Ruben makes a difference in whatever endeavor he undertakes. His hiring solidifies Actum’s position as the go-to team for public affairs.”

Kur – The Hold Over

Drumming up palpable buzz, rising Philadelphia force of nature Kur revealed a new bundle of songs entitled The Hold Over via Meek Mill‘s DreamChasers and Roc Nation/Republic Records. Listen to The Hold OverHERE.

To celebrate the project’s arrival, he shared the music video for the new single, “For My Fam.” Watch it HERE. The intense production matches his energetic rhymes as he declares, “I done got so many scars, but I’m grateful.” He instantly captivates with bold bars and a hard-hitting hook. The visual seamlessly translates this spirit to the screen and illuminates his star power.

He bulldozed a path for The Hold Over with “Road to the Riches” last month. It arrived to garner critical acclaim. HotNewHipHop described him as a “talented lyricist,” and Essence highlighted it among “New Music This Week.” The project also boasts previously released “Sheist,” “Let’s Talk,” and “Play It Cool.”

Next up, he’ll deliver a hometown performance at the Roots Picnic on June 4th.As the story goes, Kur first cut his teeth by leaving the competition speechless during lunchtime cyphers at W.B. Saul High School. Projects such as the Straight From The Kur mixtape and Upside Down Cake EP (where he murdered the beat for Drake‘s “Poundcake“) led to the biggest hometown endorsement possible. Meek Mill shared lyrics from “33 Shots” on Twitter as Kur went on to participate in the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher with Sam Black, Ms. Jade, Dave East and Young M.A. Around the same time, he joined forces with New York phenomenon Dave East for the EP, Born Broke, Die Rich.

2019 saw him approach critical mass. His project Shakur spawned the infectious “Crack” and powerful “Soul” [feat. Mozzy], eclipsing 10 million cumulative global streams. On its heels, “Spare Me” vaulted to #14 on the Apple Music Hip-Hop and Rap Chart and #20 on the All Genres Chart. This prompted Meek Mill to proclaim Kur as “the soul of Philly”. Signed to DreamChasers in partnership with Roc Nation and Republic, the 2021 LP It Shouldn’t Be Like This elevated his total streams past 77 million.

Kay Young – New EP

Today, London based artist, rapper and producer Kay Young releases her new EP This Here Feels Good via Play It Again Sam. The EP was written, performed, produced, and recorded by Kay in London during 2020-2021 and includes two never before heard tracks No Regrets and Wait For Me.

Listen to This Here Feels Good

This Here Feels Good is the sound of an artist using music as their second language. Kay moves between tightly rapped verses, glorious vocal performances, often within the space of one track as well as across the whole EP. Wait For Me pays homage to the London jazz scene and adds a playful touch to a project already brimming with joy, while previously released tracks “Suddenly” and “I’ve Got You” provide euphoric uplift, and Kay shows her skill as a deft lyricist on White Teeth.

The release is a stunning collection of songs that expands upon the sonic blueprint Kay has already laid out, that caught the attention of Jay Electronica and Jay-Z who later signed her to Roc Nation. She delves deeper into dance and soul while continuing to explore themes of familial legacy and cultural relation, keeping a perfect balance between lyrical vulnerability and musical uplift.

Speaking on the EP Kay says:

Creating this EP during lockdown kept me sane. I simply got lost in it because it felt good and I felt safe regardless of what was going on outside my bedroom studio. I dug deep and gave it my all!

MBK ENTERTAINMENT — MBK THE NEXT GENERATION

BROADCAST WEEKLY ON CLUBHOUSE

The team responsible for developing and launching the careers of everyone from the legendary Alicia Keys to Academy Award winner H.E.R. and more, MBK Entertainment, will identify, elevate and break the hottest superstars of tomorrow via its new reality competition series, MBK The Next Generation. The show provides a platform for up-and-coming artists to vie for a combination grand prize of a management deal with MBK Entertainment and a recording contract with MBK/RCA Records.

As a trusted artist management company and multimedia firm, MBK Entertainment filled a void during the Global Pandemic. Even with the world shutdown, they launched a series of artist showcases across Instagram and Clubhouse last year, eliciting a fervent response from audiences and giving new artists a stage when they needed it the most. This concept evolved into MBK The Next Generation. The series airs weekly on Clubhouse. For the first round, artists enter by auditioning on social media. If they advance, the second round happens in-person for a panel of industry visionaries, including MBK Entertainment C.E.O./Chairman Jeff Robinson, UMPG Senior VP Walter Jones, GRAMMY and Academy Award-winning singer and songwriter Tiara Thomas, MBK Entertainment Artist Manager Jason Hobdy, MBK Entertainment Artist A&R Jordan Chatman, Epic Records artist LONR., RCA Records artist Tone Stith, and Roc Nation artist Maeta.

Each entrant receives maximum visibility by simply appearing on what promises to be one of music’s hottest new series. The victor lands a life-changing deal.

MBK Entertainment remains committed to artist development in its truest form. The company ignited and galvanized the careers of roster alumni such as Alicia Keys, Elle Varner, Tyrese, Keyshia Cole and more. Meanwhile, current clients include H.E.R., Tiara Thomas, LONR., Maeta, Jourden Cox, Abigail Furr and Tone Stith. Recently, H.E.R. took home an Academy Award in the category of Best Original Song for “Fight For You” in addition to picking up “Song of the Year” for “I Can’t Breathe” and “Best R&B Song” for “Better Than I Imagine” [with Robert Glasper & Meshell Ndegeocello] at the 2021 GRAMMY Awards.

MBK Entertainment also continues to make headlines. Rolling Stone featured President/Managing Partner Jeanine McLean-Williams, while Billboard named Jeff Robinson Executive of the Week” earlier this spring.

Big Sean Detroit Pistons annpuncement illustration by Kaelen Felix for 360 MAGAZINE

BIG SEAN × DETROIT PISTONS

The Detroit Pistons announced hip-hop icon and Detroit-native Big Sean will become the organization’s Creative Director of Innovation. In this role, Big Sean will provide creative counsel and strategic guidance on a variety of Pistons off-the-court initiatives, including team merchandise design, in-game experience, co-branded community, and social responsibility activation, and more.

To kick off the partnership, Big Sean has added his Don Life logo to the Pistons practice jersey. Photos of the jerseys are attached.

“Sean is an accomplished artist, philanthropist and entrepreneur. Having spent time with him and his family I know how deeply he cares about the city of Detroit,” said Pistons Owner Tom Gores. “We share a common desire to use the power of sports and entertainment to improve our community and make a positive impact on people’s lives. I’m excited to see what we can do working together.”

Central to the partnership, the Pistons and the Sean Anderson Foundation will work together and engage Detroiters through future community initiatives and programming. The six-time Grammy nominee will also curate music for Pistons in-game entertainment, including halftime performances and DJ playlists. Additionally, Big Sean will participate in creative sessions and spearhead collaborations with the Pistons design team to launch custom merchandise line extensions.

“It’s a dream come true and a real honor to get to work with the iconic Detroit Pistons,” said Big Sean. “I grew up in the city, which naturally made me a fan of the Bad Boys. I would later have a Grant Hill poster on my wall and then, against all odds, would watch the ’04 Pistons go on to win the Championship, inspiring the whole city of Detroit. I look forward to creatively finding new ways to contribute to their legacy and continue their dedication to the community through sports, art, and, of course, music.”

Detroit Pistons Chief Business Officer Mike Zavodsky lauded the addition of Big Sean and sees the partnership as a natural fit for the Pistons and their newly launched D-Up brand campaign.

“Big Sean embodies everything the Pistons organization and our D-Up campaign is about – creativity, hard work, and the people of Detroit,” said Zavodsky. “Big Sean and the Pistons are both a part of the fabric of Detroit, and we look forward to this partnership reflecting the culture of the city we both call home.”
