Lady London is one artist that you will want to keep on your radar as we dive into 2022.

About Lady London

New Jersey-born and Los-Angeles based rapper Lady London is known for her rhythmic lyricism. While her mother was Jamaican and Father Trinidadian, her childhood was divided between East Orange, New Jersey and the Bronx, New York. Hip hop culture has been an integral part of her life, as her uncle was Chino XL, and she grew up inspired by artists like JAY-Z, Lil Kim and Whitney Houston. In college, London was on a pre-med path, but still expressed her love for the arts while putting on successful poetry shows. In 2018, she posted one of her poetry videos online, and the video went viral with 8-million plus views. After London obtained her Master of Science from Keck School of Medicine at USC, she also was accepted into the school’s medical program.

Ultimately, London put her dream of medical school in the past to chase her dream of music. She talks about the decision, stating, “everything changed, I figured I could always go back to school. Convincing my West Indian family was very interesting. They didn’t understand why I was willing to give up everything I had been working towards. I knew I had to do music, though. You can’t run from destiny.”

Moreover, London’s career has taken off since 2018. This artist has generated millions of views online with her own original music. Her single released in 2021, “Money Over,” accumulated 500,000-plus views on YouTube as the one and only Cardi B described London as “the most slept on” to social media. London serves as a SAVAGE ambassador for Rihanna’s FENTY. Giving a performance in support of Black Lives Matter at the BET Awards, London caught the attention of many, eventually becoming co-signed by Diddy and Revolt TV.

“There are multiple levels to me,” Lady London clarifies. “I’m not one-dimensional. I really take my craft seriously. I consider rap to be an artform—not a trend. I’ve studied cadences, timing, breath control, double and triple entendres, and syllables. It almost breaks down to an exact science. I pay attention to verbiage, semantics, and diction. I’m a connoisseur of rhythmical composition in its purest form. I’m just a boss.”

Lady London continues to prove herself in the rap world as a force to be reckoned with.

Gemaine × Charlie Heat – No Questions

Compton singer/ songwriter Germaine and distinguished producer Charlie Heat teamed up to produce their upcoming album New Jack City, with top single “No Questions” dropping January 21. The debuting single drops with a music video, in which Gemaine’s vocal capabilities are highlighted, showcasing old-fashioned R&B ballads. The arrangement showcases simplistic production from Charlie Heat, making room for Gemaine’s diving vocals, before captivating keys and percussion swoop in.

Gemaine speaks about his inspiration for the single, stating, “I was inspired to write “No Questions” by a tweet that I saw from Issa Rae. She mentioned she was listening to Mint Condition’s “Breaking My Heart” and said she wished men today would be more like the R&B singers from the past. She was bringing attention to the fact that loving a woman used to be cool. It inspired me to make a record that had a similar energy but with a modern sound. I wrote this song to remind men that there’s nothing wrong with being soft-spoken and romantic with your girl.”

The debut of “No Questions” precedes the release of Gemaine’s Lefty EP, issued in 2020. The EP received critical acclaim by HotNewHipHopHipHopDXRated R&B, and more. With the arrival of the forthcoming collaboration album New Jack City between Gemaine and producers Ymtk and DJ Charlie Heat, we can only expect out-of-this-world work. The production affiliates operate as executive producers for the album, featuring credentials with artists Madonna, Ye, Kehlani, Lil Uzi Vert and more. The producers join forces in the project to illustrate Gemain’s creative concept with impeccable execution.

Gemaine and Charlie Heat knew that they struck gold working together on early studio sessions, shortly after deciding to team up on an artistic project. The upcoming album channels reference from old-school gangster films like edgy 1991 thriller New Jack City. Gemaine and his collaborators have generated a distinguished sound and essence for the album, producing brilliant tracks that highlight creative brotherhood stemming from the teams’ cooperative work ethic.

360 had the opportunity to chat with Gemaine about his distinctive R&B spirit, what he wants for the future of his career and how he plans on accomplishing it.

What makes you stand apart from other R&B artists?

I am genuinely moving with love, and being fearless about it. I think it’s bigger than me and my selfish needs. I love the music that inspired me and want to bridge the gap of where r&b is now and where it came from. I think my approach will do that, and I am a student of the game. If my music becomes popular, people will have to understand where it came from to do it and I’m not afraid to fail while doing so. Being a trendsetter ain’t easy but that’s what I’m striving to do. [To] create a new wave and a new appreciation to a different approach.

What can we expect from your upcoming album New Jack City?

Authentic chemistry from a group of guys who really love music, and who are not afraid to be themselves. I’m the voice to the music but the attitude and tone of the album is a collective effort

What is your goal for your career in 2022?

I would just love to be in the discussion of the “up next” artist to take over the game. I think I belong, and I know [that] if I get my foot in the door I’ll really do my thing

What is the biggest goal you aim to accomplish within your career?

Longevity and impact. Money is cool and fame is nice but having a legacy that outlives me is something I would be most proud of and strive for and what motivates everything I do. I want to be remembered. I want to be great.

About Gemaine

Compton native singer, songwriter and producer Gemaine is R&B’s up and coming star. Being initially introduced to music in church, Gemaine made his first public debut at the age of 18. In this debut, a video of him singing at a local Guitar Center went viral on TikTok, and this was when he decided to actively start pursuing music. Gemaine moved to New York City at the age of 19, where he uncovered the grit and hustle that would be needed to accomplish all his goals and dreams. Gemaine’s unique tone and modern vibe are reminiscent of artists like Al B. Sure and Bobby Brown. Gemaine takes inspiration from these artists, and aims to generate his own movement pushing for fresh R&B. What sets Gemaine apart from other mainstream artists is his sincere ambition and dedication. Gemaine is a perfectionist that places value on being enthralled in the artistic process of each of his records. His passion for R&B music paired with his impeccable ability to connect and transmit his vision through his craft make him an artist that is steadily on the rise.

Japanese Breakfast

Tuesday, January 18, indie pop act Japanese Breakfast performed “Slide Tackle,” a track from their GRAMMY-nominated album, Jubilee, on The Late Show with James Corden. Michelle Zauner, applauded founder, did a ‘Bar Chat interview where she talked about these recent nominations and more. Watch Japanese Breakfast’s performance on The Late Show with James Corden HERE.

Jubilee released last June as one of the years leading, critically acclaimed albums. The album stole spots on Best Of lists for 2021 from Rolling Stone, People Magazine, Pitchfork, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, NPR, Wall Street Journal, The Ringer, SPIN, Esquire, Vulture, The AV Club, Paste, Cosmopolitan, UPROXX, Consequence of Sound, Slant and Hypebeast. The album gained so much attention that it was even voted the #1 album of the year on NPR’s Listener’s Poll and #1 on UPROXX’s Critics Poll.

If that wasn’t enough success for one year, Zauner, too, published her New York Times Best Seller, Crying in H Mart, which is now being reworked for MGM’s Orion Pictures. The book is a moving memoir that captures Zauner’s experiences growing up Korean American, the struggles she went through with the death of her mother and how she navigated discovering her own identity.

About Michelle Zauner

The Korean American musician and author Michelle Zauner is renowned for her sonic demeanor. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Zauner grew up in Eugene, Oregon for most of her adolescence. Zauner took to music instantly, beginning to learn to play the piano at 5, later moving to the guitar at age 15. Her mother’s passing in 2014 lead to her starting Japanese Breakfast. She tells Teen Vogue, “I moved back to Oregon to care for her, and I kind of put the band on indefinite hiatus. Unfortunately, she passed away, and while I was in Oregon, helping take care of the house and being a support system for my dad, the only way that I could have something for myself was if I made my own record. So I kind of carved out some time to do that.” Japanese Breakfast’s debut came in 2016 with the hit album Psychopomp. Through the album, Zauner revealed the intense period that followed her mother’s death. Zauner’s unique perspective amongst mainstream pop music sets her apart from other artists, and she’s one you’ll want to take a listen to.

RIMAC TECHNOLOGY

Ringing in the new year, the Rimac Group becomes its own entity as the Rimac Technology business.

Serving as a diverse company, Bugatti Rimac (active from November 21) falls within the clientele of the Rimac Technology business. The Rimac Group is a shareholder in Bugatti Rimac with 55% stake and Porsche with the following 45%. Rimac Group now owns the individual company of Rimac Technology. The fresh company has goals to develop its areas of expertise in the engineering, development, production and supply of differing systems that Rimac is renowned for – such as battery systems, electric drive units, electronic systems and user interface components.

A company with superior electronic expertise, Rimac Technology works closely with automotive manufacturers across Europe. These two realms collaborate in projects like the expansion of the Nevera, taking customers step by step through the process of product creation. Rimac Technology is especially known for their work with international OEMs such as Porsche, Hyundai, Kia, Automobili Pininfarina, Koenigsegg and Aston Martin, with other projects yet to be announced. With the development of Rimac Technology’s manufacturing capacities, the brand has goals to create tens of thousands of advanced systems per year by 2024.

The solely independent company works as an individual manufacturer, including sponsors into the Rimac Group business. Rimac Technology prioritizes clientele confidentiality with all projects, and that each endeavor will be completed to request of necessary cost, performance and within sufficient time.

Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac Group, now heads both Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Technology. Although both the brands operate separately, they both work under Bugatti Rimac with shared R&B along with other roles. The potential of both Bugatti and Rimac automobiles will be corresponded to Bugatti Rimac, merging ideas and innovation in research and development, production and other areas.

Mate Rimac states, “If we go back to the very beginning of the Rimac Automobili business in 2009, the dream for me was to build my own electric hypercar. With Nevera we believe we’ve achieved that dream, creating a car that is not only the fastest accelerating in the world, but also comfortable, usable and brimming with our advanced technology. But Nevera isn’t just a standalone project, it’s a showcase of what Rimac Technology can do free from the costs or volume restraints of a large-scale manufacturer. We believe once you’ve pushed the technology as far as it can go, it makes it a lot easier to scale up to higher volume and lower cost. The e-Axles, Torque Vectoring, battery systems, connectivity, AI, and countless other electrical systems on Nevera are all our own creations, and each of them can be scaled to suit applications you might find on a range of higher volume performance vehicles.

Separating the technology business into its own entity is a natural step as the focus of the two markets, hypercars and components, are completely different. For example, the products of Rimac Technology, while being on the cutting edge of performance, also need to be extremely cost competitive and producible at huge scales, while those issues are secondary for the hypercar business. This new structure will enable each company of the Rimac Group to flourish to their full potential, while still sharing the synergies between them – for example using our own hypercars as testbeds for new technology before we offer it to other OEMs.”

Now, he is one of the pioneers in promoting and supporting the NFT. He has 2.5 million followers on Twitter, many of whom have been initiated into blockchain and NFT through his NFT – Vee Friends collection. It was a great pleasure to have the opportunity to meet him and hear his opinion on NFT.

While he is one of the earliest figures who has been investing and collecting the NFTs, he says that sometimes the technology can go over his head. Instead of focusing heavily on technology, he is more interested in how NFT will help and change people’s daily life. He is optimistic about the future of NFT, however, he still has his concern. He thinks that people are paying too much attention to the value and financial benefit NFT can bring while they ignore the importance of developing NFT itself as a product.

Alma Jimenez: Women in NFTs

Alma Jimenez is a Mexican American artist based out of New York. Alma recently made her own presentation at NFT NYC. Throughout the presentation, she introduces herself and her journey through the space of NFTs. In 2008, Alma funded the Vj Deliria project which is her longest art project to date. The first exhibition that Alma did in the metaverse was the Latin American Graffiti exhibition that featured a graffiti artist collective from Mexico City. The opening reception of the exhibition was featured in Clubhouse so that a group of artists could meet up in the metaverse and walk the gallery as one. From this first exhibition alone, Alma gathered over twenty-three artists to participate in this new coming of age metaverse experience.

In the following weeks of this exhibition, Alma was invited by Chile’s Ministry of Culture, Art and Heritage to talk about NFTs and crypto art, and the role that they play as a creative economy. Alma knew that she wanted to share this opportunity with other remarkable artists from Chile that were also creating in the NFT space. This exhibition that featured other distinguished Chilean artists was called Chile Diverso NFT. Following this crucial exhibition, they created an Opensea Collection, Oncyber gallery and Cryptovoxels exhibition. The next exhibition Alma curated is called NFTribu, which also translates to NFTribe. The exhibition is nomadic, and the groups move from galleries between differing metaverses. This unique exhibition showcases NFT art that is inspired by Pre-Columbian cultures, indigenous and native people from Latin America. The exhibition is ongoing, and Alma is always in search of more art to add to the exhibition.

With its colorful dancefloor and the wonderful performance of DJ RICH GREENE, it was such a huge success, and we were looking forward to our next collaboration!
