JAXX – APPAREL

21-year-old artist Jaxx releases his new single “Apparel” featuring Tuxx. Filled with a hypnotic beat and an energetic dynamic, “Apparel” lets Jaxx’s talents shine through. Listen to “Apparel,” produced by Taz Taylor, Rio Leyva and FRANKIEONTHEGUITARHERE and watch the music video, directed by Daniel Jordan KHERE

Earlier in the year, Jaxx released his single “Too Often,” an impressive new single laced with braggadocio, slurred melodies, and a free sense of adventure. The single received early support from Billboard on Fresh Finds and Teen Vogue on Best New Music.  He followed the release with his second single “Autumn” which received support from Billboard again as well as Lyrical Lemonade, Daily Chiefers and others.

About Jaxx:

Playful and confident, Jaxx combines expressive melodies and free associative flexes to deliver otherworldly anthems for dream chasers. The 21-year-old artist flashes his gifts on “Too Often,” a glittering new single laced with braggadocio, slurred melodies, and a free-wheeling sense of adventure. Modern, experimental, and casually resolute, the tracks reflect the impulses of an artist who picked up a rap career on a whim — which is pretty much what happened.

Born and raised in Arizona, Jaxx was holding down a potential career as a pro skateboarder before he ever considered music. By Jaxx’s late teens, his older brother was making music of his own, and after seeing him perform, Jaxx found a new calling. After recording his first songs on an iPhone in a church parking lot, he got his first dose of attention when he released “Ride With Me,” a melodic rumination on loyalty. After the track collected over 100K streams, Jaxx built his momentum with subsequent singles like “Road 2 Nowhere” and “Like This!” After spending time in the studio with Internet Money, Jaxx unloaded “Domino,” an ethereal 2021 single that led to more momentum and the chance to level up like never before.

Looking ahead, Jaxx wants the accoutrements of music superstardom. He also wants to be a source of relief for fans, a group that continues to multiply. Jaxx has the opportunity to build his community by hitting the studio with new ideas and a belief that his best work is ahead of him. “Since I’ve been making music, every song keeps getting better,” he shares. “I’m more excited to put out new music than I’ve ever been.”

THE BACKGROUND:

Internet Money:
Internet Money was born out of necessity, a hybrid company that has filled in the gaps between the rap industry, the producer community, and the online marketplace. Disillusioned with the industry, and the way he saw rap producers being taken advantage of, Taz Taylor formed the collective in 2016 as a way to share the knowledge he’d gained from years spent selling his “type beats” online and navigating the internet’s ever-growing impact on the production landscape.

Four years in, Internet Money has expanded as a collective, including Grammy-nominated producers like Nick Mira and JR Hitmaker, and produced for Drake, Trippie Redd, Juice WRLD, and many more. “When you’re in Internet Money, you get the same opportunities that I do, you’re gonna be working with the same artists that I’m working with, and getting credits with them,” Taylor says. “Instead of working with a bunch of people we don’t know, we just have our own network that’s one big family.” Following their success breaking major artists like Trevor Daniel, and co-producing his multi-platinum hit “Falling,” Taylor and Internet Money partnered with Elliot Grange’s 10K Projects in 2019 to launch their own label.

Taz Taylor:
Taz Taylor has never cared about fame or clout. To hear the multi-platinum producer and Internet Money founder tell it, everything he’s done — from turning his online production hustle selling “type beats” into a $500,000 per year business to forming his own label — has been born out of necessity and guided by intuition. “I’ve been so tunnel vision during the last five years to make sure I got to this point,” he says. “It was just like, Let’s keep building.”

Though the 27-year-old has only been in the industry for a few years, his accomplishments in that time have come at a staggering pace, notching, by his estimation, over 500 placements and around 200 gold and platinum plaques between himself and the other producers on his Internet Money team. As their leader, Taylor has quickly become a new sort of rap mogul, one who’s built his steadily growing empire from a deep knowledge of the way’s music moves online, and he’s done it all from the humblest of beginnings.

New iann dior Music Video

21-year-old rapper iann dior released a new music video for his song “Prospect” on Tuesday. It can be seen here!

The song features Lil Baby and was featured on Spotify playlists like Rap Caviar, Get Turnt and New Music Friday, all helping to propel it to more than 41 million streams since its May release.

The gorgeously shot video is directed by Omar Jones and inspired by Chinese landscape, architecture and colors to tribute the obvious inspiration to the beat. According to the press release, dior’s plans to tour in Asia were cancelled because of the pandemic, so the music video was his next best choice to show love to his Chinese fans.

“Prospect” is just dior’s latest in a long line of hits in a short period of time. Growing up in Corpus Christi, he quickly learned he was a talented writer and decided to turn that talent into hip-hop music. His first song earned 10,000 streams and caught the attention of Taz Taylor, the founder of Internet Money.

He released “Cutthroat” in 2019 which racked up 13 million streams on SoundCloud. He then inked a deal with 10K Projects, with whom he released his first mixtape titled “nothing’s ever good enough.”

dior gives credit to J. Cole for inspiring him to make music.

“He showed me that I could use songs to tell my own story, just like he uses his songs to tell his story,” dior said.

“Prospect” can be found along with other hits like “Pretty Girls,” “Sick and Tired” and “Paradise” on his new album, “I’m Gone,” which was released in June.

Alec Wigdahl – Lipstick

Following up the success of his biggest single to date, “Cologne,” singer and guitarist Alec Wigdahl releases his latest single, “Lipstick,” out now via 10K Projects/ Internet Money Records. A departure from his acoustic debut EP Strawberry (2019), “Lipstick” and the previously released “Cologne” show off his versatility as a writer as he moves in a more pop-driven direction. Flirty and confident, Alec’s carefree new single “Lipstick” proves to be a perfect soundtrack for summer romance. Check out “Lipstick” by Alec Wigdahl HERE.

Based in L.A. but originally from outside Minneapolis, Alec Wigdahl took up songwriting at the age of 15, initially using music as a form of therapy. After teaching himself to play guitar by watching videos of his favorite musicians, he put out a self-produced EP called On My Mind his senior year of high school. Upon graduating he headed to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, but quickly dropped out and returned home to enroll at the University of Minnesota, compelled to continue with his D.I.Y. approach to music. Those instincts proved to be right on target when the Internet Money team reached out to Wigdahl after discovering his songs on social media. By the end of last summer, Wigdahl had signed his deal with 10K Projects, and soon set to work on Strawberry – released December 2019, the EP showcases Alec’s stripped-down sonic palette.

Alec kicked off 2020 with a brutally honest, but infectious new single called “Cologne.” His most popular to date, the track was produced by Wigdahl along with Internet Money founder Taz Taylor, Nick Mira, and OkTanner, and featured more elaborate pop production than his previous record, Strawberry. Despite the differences in its production, “Cologne” offers up the same raw emotion that Wigdahl has always brought to his songwriting. As Wigdahl explains, that fearless honesty ultimately serves as a vehicle for personal connection.

“I love the kind of songs that are incredibly specific to the artist’s life, but when you listen it hits you right in the chest — almost like it’s happening to you,” says Wigdahl. “In my own music I try to be as personal and vulnerable as I possibly can, so that everyone can feel like the song was made for them. I want them to feel like I’m narrating their story at the same time that I’m narrating mine.”

TyFontaine – Huh?!

Maryland rapper TyFontaine has released a new song and video “Huh?!”, produced by Nick Mira and Taz Taylor, out now on 10K Projects/ Internet Money. Along Fetish, produced by Jetsonmade and released last week, “Huh?!” is set to feature on TyFontaine’s forthcoming 1800 mixtape, out on April 24.

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “HUH?!” HERE.

“Huh?!” and “Fetish” are the follow up singles to TyFontaine’s March released ‘Virtual World’ EP. The EP features the standout track “tragic”, in which Pitchfork notes “Fontaine displays his newfound dynamism with a next-level performance”. Made with producers like Jetsonmade (DaBaby, Roddy Ricch), 1800 offers everything from the ’80s-inspired groove, to massively catchy melodies and mosh-pit energy.

The first time he ever cut a record, 20-year-old rapper TyFontaine came up with a track that landed in rotation on a major local radio station. Originally from the D.C. area, Ty had stepped into the studio mostly as an experiment, then ended up kicking off the rapid rise of his music career. “The sneaker store I was working at had a studio in the back, and a lot of rappers would come through there,” says Ty, who was a senior in high school at the time. “I got a free session because my friend was the head engineer, and I wrote this song called ‘Precision’ that won a contest and got played on the radio for two weeks. After that it was just about changing things up and progressing to the highest point I could get to.”

Dropping out after his first year at St. John’s, Ty returned home and kept making music, soon connecting with Internet Money producer SidePCE (Juice WRLD, Young Thug) through an Instagram livestream. After SidePCE sent him a pack of beats, Ty made a song called “Imagine” and posted an excerpt to Instagram, quickly catching the attention of Internet Money founder Taz Taylor and inking his record deal by start of 2020.

Already at work on his next mixtape, Ty continues to push for total honesty in his lyrics. “I feel like the best music comes from being vulnerable and tapping into things from your past that you’re maybe not proud of, because that’s what people can learn from,” says Ty. “The feeling of making a good song is better than anything, and I want to make songs that people can hear and relate to or vibe to, something that people really cherish so that it becomes a part of their life forever.”
