Wondagurl Announces Wonderchild Label Imprint with Red Bull Records

GRAMMY-NOMINATED PRODUCER, SONGWRITER, AND EXECUTIVE WONDAGURL ANNOUNCES WONDERCHILD IMPRINT WITH RED BULL RECORDS

Today, Red Bull Records is thrilled to announce its partnership deal with acclaimed producer, songwriter, and music executive Ebony ‘WondaGurl’ Oshunrinde and her label imprint, Wonderchild. The news of the exciting new partnership follows WondaGurl’s history-making win at the 2021 Juno Awards, where she became the first Black woman to receive the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year Award.

The first deal of its kind for Red Bull Records, WondaGurl will work alongside Red Bull Records executives Greg Hammer (Managing Director) and Kenny ‘Tick’ Salcido (Senior Vice President / Head of A&R) to sign fresh, exciting new talent. Toronto rapper JUGGER will serve as the first artist to sign to the label, with his highly anticipated full-length project executive produced by WondaGurl out later this year. Read the full announcement on Complex here.

We couldn’t be more excited to announce this partnership with WondaGurl, says Hammer. As one of the most groundbreaking producers in her field, we look forward to investing in WondaGurl’s creative vision and championing her future signings. Our first joint signing JUGGER is the perfect embodiment of our partnership, and as a pioneer of the ‘death trap’ genre, his sound is one that is truly innovative and unmatched.

WondaGurl defines our mission statement of working with culturally significant talent. A veteran producer at only 24 years old, WondaGurl has worked with A-list artists for years and is now offering rising talent the chance to sign to her Wonderchild imprint in partnership with Red Bull Records, notes Salcido. At the time of negotiations, our A&R consultant Gelareh ‘G’ Rouzbehani worked tirelessly with us to help bring this deal to fruition. JUGGER will be our first official joint signing, and we are excited to combine forces to give him the platform he needs to make a strong debut. I believe Tyler Henry and Sturdy are one of the best management teams in the business, and we could not be more excited to grow this partnership with them.

It has been a pleasure working with the Red Bull Records team this past year in developing my first artist, JUGGER, says WondaGurl. Kenny, G, Greg, and the rest of the team have given me the time and space to create. As an artist and producer, that means everything. I look forward to the release of our first project together and everything to come with this relationship.

Red Bull Records has been a great partner and supported WondaGurl in her creative endeavors over this last year, adds WondaGurl’s manager, Tyler Henry. We are excited to get our first release out together.

Turbo from Kristin Robinson for use by 360 Magazine

TURBO × COCAINE + FIREWORKS

Today, country crossover talent Turbo releases his debut EP ‘Cocaine & Fireworks,’ available now via 10K Projects/Homemade Projects. The EP arrives after the growing success of his single “Bo Exotic” (also featured on the album) which has become a top pick on Spotify playlists like Country Favourites, New Music Nashville, It’s a Bop, and more for its catchy, tongue-in-cheek spirit. The album features standouts like the titular track “Cocaine & Fireworks” and the recent single “Zombiez.” The music video for “Zombiez” is out now, alongside the release of the EP.

A truly original and fearless artist, Turbo combines the gritty authenticity of outlaw country with hip-hop’s hard-hitting beats and rhymes and pop’s sticky melodies. Born Nicholas LaMonaca, 10K Projects/Homemade Projects signee grew up on country thanks mainly to his father (a famed guitarist in the international bluegrass scene) but felt drawn toward rap music and obscure electronic genres like hardstyle (a fusion of techno and hardcore).

At the age of 12, he started making his own music, a move heavily inspired by Avicii’s progressive-house classic “LE7ELS.” “Once I heard that song I couldn’t get enough of it,” Turbo recalls. “I was so obsessed, I ended up downloading FL Studio to try to recreate the melody on my own.” Although he instantly discovered a natural talent for production, Turbo put music aside for several years, then started producing again after graduating high school. “On my 18th birthday I bought a laptop and keyboard and set of speakers, and figured I’d have rappers come in and do their thing,” he says. “But after a while I just started winging it, making beats and rapping over them myself.”

As he pushed deeper into his artistry, Turbo began mining inspiration from left-of-center country singers like Colter Wall, a Canadian musician he stumbled across while stocking the shelves at his full-time liquor-store job. “Colter Wall has one of the raspiest, rawest, rudest voices I’d ever heard in my life, and it just completely took me over,” he notes. From there, Turbo tapped into his own country roots and created a full-length project titled Sixth Gear, a 2019 release featuring his breakthrough single “Light Speed.” Soon after YouTube curator, Astari shared the song’s video on his channel, “Light Speed” caught the attention of 10K, quickly paving the way for Turbo’s signing to the label, along with Homemade Projects.

Since then, Turbo has embraced even more confidence in his songwriting, thriving in the in-between of diverse genres. With tracks like his stunning debut “Heart Stop” and carefree summer jam “Bo Exotic,” Turbo has proven to be one of the most original and intuitive new artists today. “The more music I make and the better I know myself, the more I’ve realized that the best songs come from me sitting in a room alone and just taking my time—that’s how I come up with something honest and timeless,” he says. “I don’t really follow a particular process. Instead of worrying about any kind of rules, I just do what I want, and go with whatever feels right to me.”

Tracklist For ‘Cocaine & Fireworks’

  1. Cocaine & Fireworks
  2. Zombiez, featuring Landon Cube
  3. Racing After Me

2021 BREAKOUT ARTIST MORRAY

2021 BREAKOUT ARTIST MORRAY SIGNS TO INTERSCOPE RECORDS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MOE SHALIZI’S PICK SIX RECORDS

Morray’s Hit Single “Quicksand” Surpasses 50 Million Views on YouTube “Big Decisions” And “Switched Up” Continue His Harmonic Rise

The wins continue in 2021 for North Carolina’s Morray. After achieving a stunning rise in notoriety thanks to his hit single “Quicksand,” the artist has officially signed to Interscope through music executive Moe Shalizi and his Pick Six label.

“Morray is an undeniable talent with an infectious energy,” says Interscope Geffen A&M CEO, John Janick. “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Moe & his incredible team at Pick Six for what’s to come.”  Morray shares the same excitement noting, “It’s just so dope to be on a winning team with pic six and to add a powerhouse like interscope to the mix is just an amazing blessing.” Moe Shalizi adds, “There was so much synergy between our side and interscope that it just felt right, we are really excited to be working with John Janick and the rest of the team”

Since breaking through rap’s ceiling with the harmonious “Quicksand” in October 2020, Morray gained fans from all over hip-hop including Drake, fellow Fayetteville icon J. Cole and North Carolina native Da Baby. He also received a nod from Jay-Z when “Quicksand” was added to Jay’s “2020 Vision Under COVID-19” playlist. “We are very impressed with what Morray & Pick Six have been able to accomplish over the last year and are thrilled to be their partners on this journey,” expresses Nicole Wyskoarko, EVP/Co-Head of A&R at Interscope Geffen A&M.

Soon after “Quicksand,” he released a series of four songs that fleshed out his complex backstory. On “Switched Up” and “Low Key,” he reflects his hardened past. On “Dreamland,” he remembers an impoverished childhood defined by crashing at motels and friends’ houses (“some carpet ‘cause it’s better than the pavement”) and holidays and birthdays gone by with no gifts. On “Big Decisions,” his first release of 2021, he ruminates on his responsibilities as a breadwinner for his family and a role model for his community.

Morray has found a significant audience on YouTube in particular—each song was released alongside a music video that eclipsed one million views within a matter of days. Born Morae Ruffin, Morray made his public singing debut at age 4, when his mother and grandmother called on him in church to bless the congregation with a rendition of his favorite song, “I Believe I Can Fly.” He would later serve as the lead singer of his church choir. He’s worked nearly every job imaginable just to make ends meet—from fast food to construction, calling centers and even driving uber until he found his voice in music. Through his honest and vivid storytelling and emotional recordings he began the process of creating his songbook that included “Quicksand.” The first time I heard Quicksand I knew Morray was a global superstar in the making,” says Baroline, VP of A&R at Interscope. “I’m excited for the world to get to know him and hear what he’s been working on.”

His songs are as honest as they are catchy. And though he’s become a hometown hero in Fayetteville, the deep sense of struggle he evokes in his music gives it a universal appeal. “I’m speaking for every person that has real emotions,” he said. “I’m speaking to everyone that has a heart. Every song that you hear from me is a real feeling. I want people to cry with me. I want people to grow with me. I want people to understand where we’ve come from, and that we can always make it out of everything.”

Gwyn Love Never Have To See You Again

Oklahoma born pop singer-songwriter Gwyn Love unveils her debut single “never have to see u again” via Canadian indie label 604 Records. The label, who is home to Canada’s biggest acts such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Dallas Smith and Marianas Trench, marks their first American signee with Gwyn.

As a huge fan of Canadian pop-rockers Marianas Trench, Gwyn reached out to 604 Records President Jonathan Simkin, asking about an interview for a school project. After mentioning she was a musician herself, he asked her to send along a demo. A few months later, he signed her to his label. Growing up in small-town Oklahoma, Gwyn Love knew she was destined for something bigger. Now, as the first-ever American artist signed to 604 Records — she’s ready to take on the world. Drawing mainly from her own life experience, Gwyn maintains she’s hardly ever at a loss for words when it comes to songwriting — musical motivation and vision are always priority one. Her debut single “never have to see you again,” which premiered via CelebSecrets, speaks to just that. It’s a song the artist says she believes becomes more powerful each and every time she hears it — an anthem that constantly re-ignites the happiest of moments when everything in her life really started to come together. It’s a kind of honest lyricism that is sure to set Gwyn apart from the pack.
