Makeup Tips for Black Women

These are the Best Makeup Tips for Black Women

Finding the correct makeup that works specifically for you can be difficult no matter your skin type. And for women of color, this challenge is intensified. Luckily in 2022, women from all walks of life are catered for, and if we look at full coverage foundation alone, especially for black women, there is every shade available; we couldn’t be happier! What should I know to make up a dark skin? Today we leave you some #MakTips

Gentle but effective cleaning

For this type of skin, we must use mild cleansers with decongestant and purifying properties that help balance sebaceous secretion, and thus we can avoid the appearance of pimples.

Hydration

Skins of color have a strong need for hydration. These have a greater loss of water by having more sweat glands, so they feel more dehydrated. This is one of the reasons why it is important to apply moisturizers.

Get the right foundation color

Probably the biggest one out of the lot! Finding the correct color foundation is tricky, maybe not as problematic as it was 10 or so years ago. However, it can still be difficult especially if you are new to makeup – and if you are, you are in luck as UK Black Girl Makeup is a beauty trend to help you on this journey. The first thing to remember is that no one has perfect skin and that you should embrace the skin you are in, blemishes, pimples, wrinkles, and all! The foundation helps you here and there are a few magic tricks, like using a yellow-based foundation! Foundation can smooth out any of those kinks you are self-conscious about. However, it’s truly magical when you find the foundation that matches your skin tone. You can use a foundation shade finder to help you pick out the shade you need, or you can head to the drug store and check with any of the ladies at the makeup counter to help you.

Although remember, the ideal is to apply products with light textures that maintain a good level of hydration without making the skin feel heavy. A good option is the MAC Matchmaster SPF15 Foundation makeup base. This has intelligent pigments that have the ability to adapt to the different skin tones that the client may have.

Use the correct brush

Using the correct brush is an essential part since it serves to give light to this type of face. But there are some useful ways in which to use makeup brushes. Let’s look at how to apply makeup using a foundation brush. For black women or ladies with darker skin, try this. When applying your foundation, whether liquid or powder, apply it across your face in broad strokes. The next step is to start at the center of your face working outwards. After this, buff the product into your skin in circular motions using the foundation brush. After this, you need to buff your product until it blends evenly across your face and looks natural or to your desire. If done correctly, your foundation will be smooth and last all day.

Build some layers

All of us want the all-day coverage, and some days our skin just does not have the natural glow we are used to. But there are ways to get that look you want. Now, building layers will allow for greater coverage and do this in a few ways. If you are after light coverage, you need to apply a lighter amount of product and go over your face with your brush a maximum of two times. For a fuller coverage look, opt for applying more product and go over your face with your brush several times and work the product into your skin in layers. Here is a pro tip from makeup artists: Apply primer before applying your foundation if you are after an all-day look. It’s also great for oil control.

Use concealer

If you didn’t know, concealer is the makeup type you use to cover up any dark spots, blemishes or pimples, or breakouts. It is particularly wonderful for darker tones, so try to find one that complements your skin. Apply concealer to all areas you wish to cover, paying particular attention to the T-zone. Another trick for ladies with darker skin is to use concealer to highlight some of your features. Here you can apply it below your eyes, above the cheekbones, and on your chin. This way, you are using your concealer as a form of highlighting.

Spice it up

When using bronzer and blush, especially if you have dark skin, you might end up with a completely weird makeup look if you are not careful. Now, you can use bronzer and blush, but you need to use them correctly. Since these are makeup basics, they are also easy to apply. So, you need to dust some bronzer on the side of your face, the hollow sections of your cheeks, and then on your nose as well. Then apply some blush on the apple of your cheeks. Once you smile, you will see your work of art! Get it, girl!

Go for the perfect pout

In the past, lipstick colors didn’t favor black women, but over time the different lipstick shades started to include other colors that work for darker women. Today, black women can find a range of lipsticks that work so well, and we couldn’t be happier. The advice here is to test out different shades to find the ones you know will work with your skin tone. This year there are so many makeup trends that are going to look great on every black woman out there!

Cheats – wildcard:

  1. Putting a bronze or peach color is always a success on dark skin.

2. For a fresh and beautiful look, draw a line with cream eye pencil on the inner part of the lower eyelid, so they will look more rested and larger.

3. If you prefer to wear a more basic makeup, it would be to prepare the skin by applying a light base and make a colored eyeliner (for example purple or blue), these colors serve to highlight the look 

How to Feel Beautiful in Old Age

Alongside all the wonders that old age brings, including wisdom, freedom, and an extended family, there are also some setbacks. You might look at a picture from when you were young and wish you had the same radiance of adolescence, or you might wish you could dance the way you used to. Aging happens to everyone, and while people are taught that youth is more beautiful, that isn’t the case. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and confidence is prettier than any facial feature.

If you are struggling with confidence as you get older, here are some ways to help you feel beautiful once more:

Wear that Outfit

If you find yourself looking at an outfit you would have snapped up ten years ago but now tell yourself that you’re too old for it, then shut out that voice! There is no age limit on clothing, so buy that outfit and wear it with pride. It might be scary at first, especially if it’s different from your usual wardrobe, but after a while, wearing it will fill you with confidence.

Find the Right Lipstick

Lipstick is timeless; it looks great on twenty-somethings right up to the oldest seniors. Nothing gives a face a glow up like a pop of color on the lips, so find the right shade for your complexion and wear it with pride.

Makeup sometimes becomes more difficult as you grow older, as many brands cater to youthful skin more often than mature skin, but lipstick isn’t this way. Talk to beauty consultants to match you up with the perfect color.

Treat Your Vision

One of the most disheartening symptoms of aging is the deterioration of vision. It can make you feel lost as well as affect your confidence, so it’s important to treat it as soon as possible. If you are affected by cataracts, which is extremely common in old age, then have a look at a cataract lens implant for a life-changing treatment that gives you clear vision.

Exercise

Your body weakens with age, and one of the ways to prevent this is to keep moving. You don’t have to work out five days a week to reap the benefits – a gentle swim a few times a week or simply walking more is enough! Not only will it improve your body, but it will bring you tons of positivity, making you feel confident in yourself once more.

Up Your Skincare Regime

What your skin needs varies from person to person, so figure out your skin type and match your routine to that. Mature skin tends to need plenty of moisturizing products to bring out that glow and prevent the deepening of wrinkles and fine lines, so avoid any product that says ‘oil-free’.

Grow the Gray

Many people obsessively attempt to cover up their gray as they get older, but this often results in dry, damaged hair. Gray is a beautiful color and there’s no reason to cover it up! Grow it out and embrace your hair’s natural beauty. Without all the chemicals that come with hair dye, you’ll find your strands will thank you with extra thickness and health!

Alec Wigdahl – Summer is Over

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Alec Wigdahl releases his third single “Summer is Over,” out now via 10K Projects/ Internet Money Records. Following the release of past singles “Lipstick” and “Cologne,” “Summer is Over” is a pop-rock anthem that shows Wigdahl singing over a dance-floor ready, guitar-led beat. His recent breakout “Cologne” has gained over 2.4 million plays on Spotify and holds a coveted spot on its “Young and Free” and “Anti Pop” playlists, and his catchy July release “Lipstick” has been heralded as the song to “soundtrack your summer romance” by Earmilk. The release is also accompanied by a music video, directed by Molly Hawkins (Harry Styles, The xx, Kelsey Lu), featuring bright colors and trippy visuals.

Based in L.A. but originally from outside Minneapolis, Alec Wigdahl took up songwriting at the age of 15, initially using music as a form of therapy. After teaching himself to play guitar by watching videos of his favorite musicians, he put out a self-produced EP called On My Mind his senior year of high school. Upon graduating he headed to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, but quickly dropped out and returned home to enroll at the University of Minnesota, compelled to continue with his D.I.Y. approach to music. Those instincts proved to be right on target when the Internet Money team reached out to Wigdahl after discovering his songs on social media. By the end of last summer, Wigdahl had signed his deal with 10K Projects, and soon set to work on Strawberry – released December 2019, the EP showcases Alec’s stripped-down sonic palette.

Alec kicked off 2020 with a brutally honest but infectious new single called “Cologne.” His most popular to date, the track was produced by Wigdahl along with Internet Money founder Taz Taylor, Nick Mira, and OkTanner and featured more elaborate pop production than his previous record, Strawberry. Despite the differences in its production, “Cologne” offers up the same raw emotion that Wigdahl has always brought to his songwriting. As Wigdahl explains, that fearless honesty ultimately serves as a vehicle for personal connection.

“I love the kind of songs that are incredibly specific to the artist’s life, but when you listen it hits you right in the chest — almost like it’s happening to you,” says Wigdahl. “In my own music I try to be as personal and vulnerable as I possibly can, so that everyone can feel like the song was made for them. I want them to feel like I’m narrating their story at the same time that I’m narrating mine.”

Alec Wigdahl – Lipstick

Following up the success of his biggest single to date, “Cologne,” singer and guitarist Alec Wigdahl releases his latest single, “Lipstick,” out now via 10K Projects/ Internet Money Records. A departure from his acoustic debut EP Strawberry (2019), “Lipstick” and the previously released “Cologne” show off his versatility as a writer as he moves in a more pop-driven direction. Flirty and confident, Alec’s carefree new single “Lipstick” proves to be a perfect soundtrack for summer romance. Check out “Lipstick” by Alec Wigdahl HERE.
