Nico Rosberg with Rimac Nevera #001 via Extension PR for use by 360 MAGAZINE 360

NICO ROSBERG

Rimac Nevera #001 Delivered to 2016 Formula One World Champion and sustainability entrepreneur, Nico Rosberg

Just a month after the first production-ready Rimac Nevera, #000, rolled out of Rimac’s facility in Zagreb, Croatia, car #001 has been delivered to its owner – 2016 Formula One World Champion and sustainability entrepreneur Nico Rosberg. Prior to the car being sent to his home in Monaco,  Rosberg made the trip to Rimac HQ in Croatia to catch up with Mate and to see the very latest developments within the Rimac Group first-hand.

Production of the world’s first all-electric hypercar GT is now underway at Rimac’s new facility on the outskirts of Zagreb. The first year of production is already sold out. Almost every major component of the car is designed, engineered, and built at  Rimac weeks or months prior to each car being finished, and installed in the last phase of production – the vehicle assembly which takes about five weeks per car.

Showcasing the broad range of customization options available to customers, car  #000 – set to be retained by Rimac – was finished in a bright Callisto Green with  Sand Alcantara interior. For car #001, Nico has deliberately chosen a much more aggressive specification described when he first designed his car as the ‘full  Batmobile spec’.

With Stellar Black paint, polished Vertex wheels and gloss black brake calipers, it’s perhaps the most menacing personality of Nevera possible. The interior is finished in all black Alcantara, with subtle ‘Nico Rosberg’ signature on the armrest plate  marking the car 001/150. The first customer owned example of the Nevera will be based in the Principality of Monaco, Rosberg’s home, becoming the first all-electric hypercar in the sovereign state.

Nico Rosberg has been a part of the Rimac journey since he first saw the C_Two  concept – which would become Nevera – in person several years ago. He believed in Mate’s vision for the Nevera as a truly engaging and comfortable next generation hypercar, capable of crossing continents and lapping racetracks, all on electric power. He became one of the very first customers.

Rosberg said: “Ever since I first met Mate and truly understood the genius behind  Nevera, I knew I wanted car number one. For me, this car represents absolutely everything I could ever want. It showcases the very best of innovative electrification  technology, bringing it into a car designed literally from the ground-up to be not just incredibly fast – or the fastest – but really great to drive, too. I can’t wait to  see what it can do.”

Following an 11-year career in Formula One that saw him crowned World  Champion in 2016, Nico has embarked on a career as a sustainability entrepreneur and investor in green technologies. He is invested in more than twenty mobility start-ups as well as Formula E, while his all-electric Extreme E racing team – Rosberg X Racing are the Championship winners of 2021 and are leading the current season.

In 2019, he founded the Greentech Festival, a global platform for sustainable innovation and lifestyle. As of 2021, the event has been hosted in New York, London, Singapore as well as the city it was first established in – Berlin.

Mate Rimac, CEO of the Rimac Group, said, “When we first started designing the  Nevera we set out to build a car that would impress even the best drivers in the world. Nico was on that list, and it’s a great feeling to know that someone who has mastered the most focused and cutting-edge motorsport in the world gets such a thrill from the car that we’ve created. We’re all looking forward to following  Nico’s journeys with the Nevera; all of his cars are used and enjoyed, which is exactly what we encourage our owners to do. And if anyone can test the limits of what we’ve built, it’s him. We’re proud to call Nico a friend and the first member  of the rapidly expanding Rimac Nevera owner family.”

With the first customer car delivered, uniquely specified Neveras will now begin appearing on the streets of countries all over the world. Only 150 examples will ever be built, sold and maintained by Rimac Automobili’s global network of 25  dealer partners, stretching across North America, Europe, Middle East, and Asia.

Even before this first customer delivery, the Nevera has already received global acclaim for its world-leading technologies and unrivalled performance. With 1,914hp,  the Nevera is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in 1.85 seconds, to 100mph in  4.3 seconds and can run the quarter mile in a world-record 8.582 seconds. This year alone, Nevera has been named GQ’s Hypercar of the Year, Top Gear Magazine’s Best Electric Performance Car and Robb Report’s Best Hypercar.

H.R. OWEN – ETTORE’S

H.R. Owen Bugatti has today announced the official launch of Ettore’s Espresso Bar, the most exclusive coffee spot in London. As the first Bugatti dealership anywhere in the world to have its own espresso bar, H.R. Owen Bugatti, which normally operates by invitation-only, has opened its doors to the public for the first time.

Based at the French luxury marque’s London showroom in Bruton Street, Mayfair, Ettore’s Espresso Bar has been aptly named after the founder and patron of Bugatti, Ettore Bugatti. Ettore was a man who opted for only the very best in everything he did, not just for his ingenious cars, but also for bicycle frames, razors and locks – if he didn’t find a product that fit his standards, he would design his own. Ettore’s Espresso Bar is designed in his image, with a top-end Italian espresso machine – a nod to Ettore’s Italian birthplace – and a trained barista to serve up luxurious coffees to passers-by. With the backdrop of an example of one of Bugatti’s latest range of hyper sports cars and a showroom filled with beautifully crafted Bugatti Home Collection furniture, it’s one of the most extraordinary coffee spots in London.

The staples of Cappuccino, Espresso, Latte, Americano, Flat White and Macchiato are all available but the pièce de résistance is The Ettore Shot, an Espresso served in a Bugatti Carbon Fibre Espresso cup. Clients who purchase The Ettore Shot, priced at £50, will be allowed full access to the lounge of the London showroom and see the Bugatti – on static display – up close, as well as being able to learn more about the French luxury brand through the brand ambassadors based there.

The lounge is furnished with specially designed Bugatti armchairs, which are made using the finest leather and blue-tinted carbon fibre – the same high-spec materials that feature in Bugatti’s cars. Alongside the present and future, the showroom lounge also reflects Bugatti’s history and heritage, through a selection of art installations and sculptures that celebrate the brand beyond the cars. H.R. Owen Bugatti is more than just a car showroom; it is designed to convey a shared passion for the Bugatti brand and everything it stands for

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport via 360 Magazine

Chiron Pur Sport

H.R. Owen Bugatti will present the first public appearance of Bugatti Sur Mesure’s debut customer project at Salon Privé London. The unique Chiron Pur Sport is inspired by the heroics of 20th Century racing driver, Louis Chiron, featuring brand new exterior paint colours and a number of ultra-bespoke interior and exterior styling additions.

Translated as tailored, Bugatti’s Sur Mesure builds upon the marque’s distinguished history of coachbuilding, handcrafted interiors, paint finishes, embroidery and bodywork, gathering the collective expertise of its skilled designers and engineers to form a brand-new program to meet growing customer demand for ultra-customized designs, materials and finishes.

Louis Chiron was one of Bugatti’s most legendary racing drivers, notching up countless victories at the wheel of Bugatti racers. Just one of his memorable wins was at the 1931 the French Grand Prix, together with Achille Varzi, in a Bugatti Type 51 emblazoned with the number 32.

This number – painted entirely by hand – now proudly adorns Bugatti’s modern hyper sports car as just one of a number of custom-made elements developed especially for this car. Two new exterior colours were created to pay homage to the legendary Grand Prix racing Bugattis of the ‘20s and ‘30s.

The Bugatti Sur Mesure team also developed a new fading EB painted pattern, applied meticulously by hand, which is complemented by a multi-layer stitched EB motif on the door panels. Both required new techniques and processes to be developed by the Bugatti Sur Mesure team.

The 32 and Grand Prix motifs continue throughout the cabin, including a special centre console inlay in black anodized aluminium, with a silver hand-painted inscription. The motifs extend to the door sills, headrests and entry lights. Subtle branding distinguishing the model as a rare and unique product of the program can also be found.

Bugatti has calibrated the Chiron Pur Sport for agility, handling and driving performance. In addition to immense power; it also offers a high level of comfort and is suitable for everyday use. It is powered by an 8.0 litre W16 engine delivering 1,500 PS and 1,600 newton metres that is designed for an engine speed of up to 6,900 rpm in the agile Chiron Pur Sport. With the assistance of a 15 percent shorter transmission ratio, the Chiron Pur Sport accelerates even faster than the Chiron. The Chiron Pur Sport catapults from zero to 62mph in just 2.3 seconds, to 124mph in a mere 5.5 seconds and to 186mph in less than twelve seconds.

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport by Sur Mesure will be joined on the Bugatti stand at Salon Privé London by two other examples of Bugatti’s hyper sports cars; the Veyron and Chiron.

The three Bugatti models form just one small part of Salon Privé London, sister to Salon Privé Blenheim, which will make its debut in April at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. HR Owen London Delivers Three Bugatti Supercars

H.R. Owen Bugatti London gathers three Chiron Super Sport 300+ – 10% of the total production – before they’re delivered to customers

H.R. Owen Bugatti London is delivering three Chiron Super Sport 300+ models to its customers in January, representing 10% of the total limited production run.

The Chiron Super Sport 300+ was first revealed to the world in 2019 when it became the first car from a production manufacturer to break the 300mph barrier, recording a world record speed of 304.773mph, with Official Bugatti Test Pilot Andy Wallace behind the wheel. It was announced shortly after that just 30 examples of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ would be handcrafted and delivered to customers worldwide.

In order to achieve its world-record speed, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ received a number of meticulously engineered upgrades. Most obviously, its streamlined bodywork was redesigned to include a ‘longtail’, which helped maintain a smooth flow of air over the car to maintain stability at high speeds. The new shape, and a set of vertical exhaust pipes, allowed for a diffusor 32% larger, helping to further increase downforce.

The legendary 8.0-litre W16 engine was upgraded with reinforced pistons, larger turbochargers and an oil pump capable of operating at higher pressures, to deliver a total of 1,600PS – exactly 100PS more than Chiron.

The Chiron Super Sport 300+ is marked out by its unique paintwork. Compared with Super Sport, which shares a longtail body, the Super Sport 300+ is finished in black carbon fibre, complemented by a Jet Orange racing stripe running through the center of the car. Carbon continues to flow through into the car’s engine cover, and even the windscreen wiper.

Additional flourishes complete the 300+’s design, including a Bugatti “Macaron” logo made of genuine silver and black enamel, and strong magnesium alloy wheels finished in a bespoke colour named “Nocturne”.

The sold-out Chiron Super Sport 300+ vehicles are being built at Bugatti’s headquarters in Molsheim, France, each starting at a net price of 3.5 million euros.

Rimac Technology automotive work via Rimac Technology for use by 360 MAGAZINE

RIMAC TECHNOLOGY

Ringing in the new year, the Rimac Group becomes its own entity as the Rimac Technology business.

Serving as a diverse company, Bugatti Rimac (active from November 21) falls within the clientele of the Rimac Technology business. The Rimac Group is a shareholder in Bugatti Rimac with 55% stake and Porsche with the following 45%. Rimac Group now owns the individual company of Rimac Technology. The fresh company has goals to develop its areas of expertise in the engineering, development, production and supply of differing systems that Rimac is renowned for – such as battery systems, electric drive units, electronic systems and user interface components.

A company with superior electronic expertise, Rimac Technology works closely with automotive manufacturers across Europe. These two realms collaborate in projects like the expansion of the Nevera, taking customers step by step through the process of product creation. Rimac Technology is especially known for their work with international OEMs such as Porsche, Hyundai, Kia, Automobili Pininfarina, Koenigsegg and Aston Martin, with other projects yet to be announced. With the development of Rimac Technology’s manufacturing capacities, the brand has goals to create tens of thousands of advanced systems per year by 2024.

The solely independent company works as an individual manufacturer, including sponsors into the Rimac Group business. Rimac Technology prioritizes clientele confidentiality with all projects, and that each endeavor will be completed to request of necessary cost, performance and within sufficient time.

Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac Group, now heads both Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Technology. Although both the brands operate separately, they both work under Bugatti Rimac with shared R&B along with other roles. The potential of both Bugatti and Rimac automobiles will be corresponded to Bugatti Rimac, merging ideas and innovation in research and development, production and other areas.

Mate Rimac states, “If we go back to the very beginning of the Rimac Automobili business in 2009, the dream for me was to build my own electric hypercar. With Nevera we believe we’ve achieved that dream, creating a car that is not only the fastest accelerating in the world, but also comfortable, usable and brimming with our advanced technology. But Nevera isn’t just a standalone project, it’s a showcase of what Rimac Technology can do free from the costs or volume restraints of a large-scale manufacturer. We believe once you’ve pushed the technology as far as it can go, it makes it a lot easier to scale up to higher volume and lower cost. The e-Axles, Torque Vectoring, battery systems, connectivity, AI, and countless other electrical systems on Nevera are all our own creations, and each of them can be scaled to suit applications you might find on a range of higher volume performance vehicles.

Separating the technology business into its own entity is a natural step as the focus of the two markets, hypercars and components, are completely different. For example, the products of Rimac Technology, while being on the cutting edge of performance, also need to be extremely cost competitive and producible at huge scales, while those issues are secondary for the hypercar business. This new structure will enable each company of the Rimac Group to flourish to their full potential, while still sharing the synergies between them – for example using our own hypercars as testbeds for new technology before we offer it to other OEMs.”

Rimac Nevera via Rimac Automobili for use by 360 Magazine

Rimac Automobili Unveils the Nevera

Hypercar manufacturer and electric technology specialist Rimac Automobili unveiled the production version of the C_Two, now becoming the Nevera, an all-electric, 1,914hp, 258mph, $2.4m hypercar designed and engineered to unleash an unprecedented level of performance.

The Nevera is the production-ready iteration of the Rimac C_Two concept car, which was revealed at the International Geneva Motor Show in 2018. Since then, Rimac’s engineers have refined their new flagship on every level during an extensive development program, in the pursuit of the ultimate electric hypercar driving experience. With the majority of key components of the Nevera developed in-house at Rimac’s HQ in Croatia, all systems have been improved and enhanced since the initial prototypes to deliver on the ambitious performance targets set for at the beginning of the project in 2018.

Underlining his own commitment to the project, Mate Rimac will personally test and sign off each of the Neveras, before they are delivered to customers from the company’s current production site on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia.

Named after a force of nature

Fittingly, the Nevera bears a proud Croatian name and one that truly reflects the prodigious performance the car can unleash in the blink of an eye. The name given by the locals to a quick, unexpected and mighty Mediterranean storm that races across the open sea off Croatia, a nevera is extremely powerful and charged by lightning.

Appearing with exceptional speed and potency, Rimac’s next-generation hypercar shares the Nevera’s name and looks set to leave a similarly disruptive effect on the global hypercar market. And, like the force of nature it is named after, it is just as adept at transforming its character in an instant – from assured and comfortable grand tourer to ultra-focused performance machine.

Form follows function

Rimac favors lean and effective engineering at every stage, and that philosophy is exemplified in the form-follows-function nature of the Nevera’s timeless, elegant design. It is applied to every single detail, including Rimac’s signature ‘cravat’ feature, which is incorporated into its flanks.

“Since the 17th Century, the necktie has provided a symbol of Croatian strength and identity, and we first paid tribute to it on our Concept_One hypercar in 2011,” reveals Rimac Director of Design, Adriano Mudri,And, like every element of the car’s design, it is there to provide a key function of the Nevera’s performance, serving as an air intake for the rear cooling systems.”

A comprehensive raft of changes to the Nevera’s bodywork, air diffusers and intakes has delivered a 34% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency over the early prototypes. The profile of the bonnet, the shape of the pillars and the design of the diffusers, splitters and radiators have all been intensively analyzed and refined to improve airflow and downforce. Inlets and cooling channels have been painstakingly developed to increase the cooling efficiency of both the brake and powertrain systems, resulting in a 30% improvement at low speeds and a seven per cent enhancement at high speeds.

Rimac has also created numerous new innovative active aerodynamic elements to elevate the Nevera’s cooling, performance, stability, and efficiency. The front bonnet profile, underbody flap, rear diffuser and rear wing can each move independently, driven by complex algorithms that provide the optimum aerodynamic configuration for every driving situation. Switching from ‘high downforce’ to ‘low drag’ mode reduces aerodynamic drag by 17.5% to create a 0.3 coefficient of drag. Changing back into ‘high downforce’ mode increases downforce by 326%.

Despite incorporating a wealth of active aerodynamic elements, as well as many cameras and sensors that enable the Driver Coach feature, the Nevera’s body design remains a coherent graphic. It combines both the drama and beauty of a hypercar and appears simultaneously shaped by the air and forged with technology. The stunning butterfly doors elegantly carve away from the car’s wide sill as they open, creating a generous space for ease of entry and egress.

Lightweight, forged alloy wheels feature a unique aerodynamic design that channels cooling air to the Brembo carbon-ceramic braking system and ensures smooth airflow down the car’s flanks.

World’s most advanced monocoque construction

Nevera’s groundbreaking monocoque, developed by the former C_Two Chief Engineer Daniele Giachi, includes a bonded carbon roof, integrated structural battery pack and rear carbon subframe, forming the largest single carbon fibre piece in the entire automotive industry. Weighing less than 200kg and utilising 2200 carbon fibre plys and 222 aluminium inserts, the monocoque encases the car’s battery to form a compact yet incredibly strong structure with a torsional stiffness of 70.000Nm/degree. The level of unmatched strength and safety this provides has contributed to the Nevera meeting strict global homologation standards, and delivering the most rigid structure of any car ever made.

Driving the future

The key to the Nevera’s exceptional performance is Rimac’s pioneering electric powertrain. Every component of the Nevera’s electric powertrain has been exhaustively reworked since its inception to deliver more torque, greater performance and enhanced efficiency.

The unique H-shaped, liquid-cooled, 120kWh, 6960-cell battery was designed from scratch by Rimac and sits at the very heart of the Nevera. Capable of producing 1.4MW of power, the Lithium/Manganese/Nickel battery also forms an integral part of the car’s core, adding 37% structural stiffness to the carbon fibre monocoque. The battery’s optimum positioning low and central within the car’s floor contributes to an ultra-low centre of gravity. This helps create an excellent 48/52 front/rear weight distribution and the best possible handling balance.

Developments of the advanced battery cooling system have made it even more efficient since the introduction of the C_Two, enabling more power to be delivered for greater periods. Four bespoke surface-mounted permanent magnet motors drive the Nevera’s four wheels individually. Together, they enable 1914hp and 2360Nm of torque, which is triple the output of a ‘conventional–engined’ supercar. The front and rear wheels are each connected to a pair of single-speed gearboxes.

Capable of instantly summoning maximum torque from the first moment, the Nevera’s electric motors are 97% efficient–compared with 40% for the most effective internal combustion engines–and completely maintenance-free throughout their operating life.

Out of this world acceleration–beating the ambitious targets

With the ability to sprint to 60mph in 1.85 seconds and continue the acceleration all the way to a 258mph top speed, the Nevera opens up a new dimension in hypercar performance. Accelerating from rest to 100 mph requires just 4.3 seconds and it maintains its eye-widening acceleration throughout a full-throttle cycle, achieving 186mph from rest in 9,3 seconds, shredding a whole 2,5 seconds from the initial targets. Finally, it achieves a record-breaking 8,6 seconds quarter-mile time.

Perfect power delivery, impeccable stopping power

Rimac’s All-Wheel Torque Vectoring 2 (R-AWTV 2) system replaces traditional Electronic Stability Program and Traction Control systems to further bolster grip and traction. Meanwhile, the Nevera’s R-AWTV 2 system enables infinitely variable dynamic responses to road and track conditions by calibrating the amount of torque supplied to each wheel. R-AWTV 2 calculates the precise level of torque to channel through each wheel for ultimate stability and exceptional agility. Both predictive and responsive, R-AWTV reads the road and makes over 100 calculations per second to tailor the level of torque to achieve the desired driving style.

The Nevera is also equipped with cutting-edge braking technology. A complex electro-hyrdaulic brake booster with brake pedal feel simulator distributes the braking force between the friction brakes and electric powertrain, depending on the battery, powertrain and brake state. For instance–it dissipates kinetic energy through the friction brakes if the battery is close to its thermal limits, or activates more regenerative braking in case the friction brakes are hot. All those transitions should remain in the background, not noticeable to the driver. This enables the Nevera to make the highest use of regenerative braking of any other car on the market now. In addition to a maximum range-enhancing regenerative braking of 300 kW provided by the electric motors, substantial stopping power comes from 15 inch Brembo CCMR carbon-ceramic brake discs and six-piston callipers. Combined they provide consistent, fade-free and exceptionally powerful braking, even when the car is subjected to extreme forces on the track.

Relaxed grand tourer with track attack precision

Double wishbone suspension with electronically controlled dampers and active ride height adjustment provides a combination of a smooth and comfortable ride, exemplary body control and ultra-agile handling.

Further emphasizing Rimac’s technology-first approach, the Nevera utilises the very latest electric power steering with steer-by-wire function, enabling adaptive driver-feedback, depending on the drive mode. Additionally, it works as a drive-by-wire system when in “Driver Coach” mode to demonstrate optimum racing lines and vehicle control to the driver.

Rimac’s versatile and responsive R-AWTV 2 system enables drivetrain calibration for the Nevera to facilitate any driving style through seven different driving modes.

For a truly engaging drive on the road, “SPORT” mode sharpens the response of the throttle, brakes, suspension and steering, while “DRIFT” mode supplies more torque to the rear wheels to accentuate oversteer and help hold the car in a controlled power slide on the track. “COMFORT” mode strikes a perfect balance between a relaxing ride, efficiency and driving pleasure, while “RANGE” mode enables the Nevera to achieve maximum mileage from each battery charge. In expert hands, “TRACK” mode sets the Nevera to full, unrestrained configuration to help drivers exploit the car’s full potential. Finally, two “CUSTOM” modes enable drivers to access their personal, pre-selected performance characteristics.

Minimalist design cabin, maximum comfort and control

With space for two occupants in full race regalia and their luggage, Nevera is as much a capable grand tourer as it is a performance hypercar. Digital screens soak up needless toggles and switches, leaving only essential tactile controls, giving more space to enjoy Nevera’s carefully designed interior.

The cockpit features a trio of high-definition TFT screens, which present as much, or as little, information as the user requires. Configured for both track driving and comfort, the layout of the cockpit is divided into two zones. The focus of the top segment is entirely placed on driving pleasure and performance, while the lower part houses the infotainment system, comfort controls and driving data.

Tactile billet aluminum rotary controls and switches, including three displays with rotating control, provide a resolutely analogue feel, tailored to enable the driver to utilize the cutting-edge digital technology in an even more engaging manner. From the cockpit, the driver can monitor every aspect of the car’s performance with real-time telemetry, downloadable to a laptop or smartphone for later review.

O’GARA COACH BRINGS RIMAC AUTOMOBILI TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

The luxury dealership group is the first in the west to offer the new all-electric European hypercar brand to its discerning customers, beginning with the C_Two.

O’Gara Coach has announced that Rimac Automobili is the latest marque available through its Southern California locations, making it the first California dealer to offer this exclusive brand. Rimac is also the first all-electric hypercar manufacturer to join the luxury dealership group and is the 11th brand it currently offers.

In 2011, Rimac Automobili impressed the automotive world when it released the Concept_One and it is poised to do so again with its latest marvel of technology and engineering — the C_Two. The 2019 model will have a limited production run of just 150 examples, produces 1,914 horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 1.85 seconds (one foot roll-out) and has a top speed of 258 mph.

Participants in O’Gara Coach’s Sunset GT Rally to Monterey Car Week will be treated to an exclusive preview of the new C_Two at a reception at the conclusion of the drive.  The C_Two will be on public display the following day at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.

“Rimac is one of the most innovative and captivating hypercar manufactures in the world and we could not be happier to welcome them to the O’Gara family,” said Tom O’Gara, founder of O’Gara Coach. “There is a lot of interest in Rimac’s vehicles and there isn’t a better market for bespoke electric sports cars than Southern California.”

O’Gara Coach has become one the world’s premier dealerships by providing customers with an exceptional and individually tailored sales experience. Its dedication to hospitality now extends to the Rimac family as O’Gara will immediately begin taking orders for the C_Two.
