Rimac Automobili officially joins forces with Bugatti Automobiles under the recently announced, Bugatti Rimac d.o.o. The new company sees two motor vehicle powerhouses generate an exciting movement in the automotive and technology industries, originally initiated and strongly supported by the sports car manufacturer Porsche AG.

Rimac’s short but rich 10-year history from garage start-up by one man, Mate Rimac, took a big leap forward to begin official operating under Bugatti Rimac as of November 1st.

The Rimac Group is the major shareholder in Bugatti Rimac with a 55% stake. Mate Rimac will retain his shareholding in Rimac Group at 35%, with Porsche at 22%, Hyundai Motor Group doing the same at 11%, and other investors making up 32%. The development, production, and supply of battery systems, drivetrains, and other EV components that Rimac is known for and trusted by, will be separated into a new entity, Rimac Technology, that is 100% owned by the Rimac Group.

Bugatti Rimac has the unique combination of two automotive and technological trailblazers. Rimac’s distinctive agility, technical expertise, and relentless innovation in the EV sphere, along with Bugatti’s 110-year heritage of design and engineering of some of the world’s most iconic hypercars, are now combined in the leading hypercar company. Porsche plays a strong role in the joint company as a strategic partner. Along with two managers, the Stuttgart based sports car manufacturer appointed two Supervisory Board members, Oliver Blume and Lutz Meschke.

Mate Rimac’s leadership and strategic direction that has allowed Rimac to become an industry frontrunner means he is exceptionally skilled to lead the company as Chief Executive Officer. As CEO of Rimac Group, he runs both Bugatti Rimac and the new division, Rimac Technology.

Bugatti Rimac’s global headquarters is situated at Rimac’s current base on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia, but in time will transition to the recently announced €200M and 200.000m2 Rimac Campus, also serving as the home of Rimac Technology. With construction having now begun, joint research and development of future Rimac Automobili and Bugatti hypercars will ultimately take place there, with projected opening in 2023.

High-tech innovation forms the basis of the state-of-the-art facility, with the capacity to host 2,500 curiosity-driven people and a hive of groundbreaking developments. Bugatti Rimac operates with 435 employees as part of the new company, 300 of headquartered in Zagreb and 135 in Molsheim, France. In addition,180 people at Bugatti Engineering’s location in Wolfsburg, Germany, are supporting the new company. Rimac Technology consists of over 900 employees whilst the Rimac Group tackles over 1,300 employees across its various locations.

Bugatti Rimac’s new Board of Management has determined Christophe Piochon as Chief Operating Officer. He formerly held the position of Director General at Bugatti Automobiles and guarantees the continuation of the manufactory with its worldwide outstanding quality. Larissa Fleischer became Chief Financial Officer, previously being the head of controlling at Porsche in the areas of digitalization and the development of new business models. Lastly, Emilio Scervo is named Chief Technology Officer, having held the same title before at Rimac Automobili.

Rimac Automobili and Bugatti Automobiles will each continue to operate as separate brands and manufacturers, retaining their individual production facilities respectively, as well as the distribution channels. Rimac Technology will continue to innovate, developing vehicle systems and technologies for many global OEMs.

Commenting on the first day of Bugatti Rimac operations, CEO Mate Rimac says, “I am honored to be leading this new fusion of automotive minds and begin what will no doubt be a successful, revolutionary and exciting new chapter for everyone involved. PureAir fine dust particle filter roof box

MANN+HUMMEL and ALBA Group Tackle Vehicle Emissions

At the start of 2020, filtration specialists, MANN+HUMMEL, and global recycling and environmental services company, the ALBA Group, joined forces to launch a pilot project with the aim of significantly improving air quality standards in Singapore. As part of a series of innovative measures developed by the ALBA Group for the city-state, the company’s recycling trucks were fitted with PureAir fine dust particle filter roof boxes from MANN+HUMMEL.

The partnership proved very successful and the two companies now plan to fit more of the ALBA fleet with PureAir roof boxes. The hope, ultimately, is that the technology can be rolled out to wider markets. The roof box design is well suited to trucks and lorries because they generally operate at lower speeds in environments where there is a high concentration of particulate in the ambient air. These are the ideal performance conditions for the roof box, which means these products can significantly reduce emissions from these vehicles.

“Although electric vehicles are becoming increasingly prevalent worldwide, particulate emissions are still a major problem, especially in cities,” explains Franck Bento, Director of Sales for New Products at MANN+HUMMEL. “Our technology can make a real difference in tackling this problem, so we’re excited to continue our partnership with the ALBA Group and help them install more of our roof boxes in the near future,” he continues.

“It’s vital for us that we protect our environment and preserve our natural resources,” explains Thomas Mattscherodt, Head of Project Management Office at ALBA W&H Smart City Pte Ltd in Singapore. “In 2019 alone, our recycling operations saved 32.3 million tonnes of primary raw materials and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 4.2 million tonnes compared with producing the same materials from scratch. We’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint and the PureAir fine dust particle filters provide a really effective way of reducing the particulate pollution generated by our trucks on their rounds.”

PureAir fine dust particle filter for buses and lorries

The PureAir roof box is a great solution for buses, lorries and other similar use cases. The built-in filter elements are extremely energy efficient. The low flow resistance maximizes the volume of air passing through the filter and guarantees excellent filtration results. In fact, the filter removes over 90% of PM10 particles – that is particles measuring 10 micrometers or less in diameter – from the ambient air. The standard filter element is a PM10 design, but other filters are available on request.

Fans also increase the flow of air through the filter by drawing in ambient air in addition to the airflow generated by the moving vehicle. So even when the vehicle is stationary, the roof box continues to filter particulate out of the ambient air. This low-energy design makes the roof box a very sustainable solution.

Moreover, customers have the option to customize the outside of the roof box with their own company branding or advertising material. As well as working to optimize the aerodynamics, size and efficiency of this product, MANN+HUMMEL has also developed new versions of the technology, including its concept for integrating particulate filters into the front end of cars, which it showcased at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt in 2019.

REEBOK’S “I3 MOTORSPORTS” CAMPAIGN

Today, Reebok officially unveils its highly anticipated “Street Sleigh” footwear and apparel collection, championed by moto-inspired takes on the brand’s iconic retro footwear models: the Question Mid and new Classic Leather Legacy. Introducing the brand’s “I3 Motorsports” narrative, which highlights Reebok’s relationship to bike life through the lens of its original rough rider Allen Iverson, the “Street Sleigh” pack is available December 15, 2020 from Reebok.com, Foot Locker, Champs and Finish Line, among other local retailers.

With a history in motorsports sponsorship dating back to the mid-80s and the introduction of its racing-inspired Answer IV and I3 Apparel range in the early 00’s, Reebok – alongside cross-cultural icon Allen Iverson – helped introduce motorsports to the streets at the turn of the century.
