Marvel – Wastelanders Comic

Return to the Wastelands of Old Man Logan in brand-new series of Wasterlanders Comic. All-new Old Man Logan spinoffs starring Black Widow, Wolverine, Hawkeye, Doctor Doom, and Star-Lord coming in December.

This December, return to the post-apocalyptic Wastelands of OLD MAN LOGAN in five all-new stories set in the Marvel future where heroes have fallen, villains have won, and your favorite characters defy all odds to survive. Brought to you by all-star creators including writers Steven S. DeKnight, Ethan Sacks, Rich Douek, and Torunn Grønbekk, these five one-shots will focus on Wolverine, Hawkeye, Doctor Doom, Star-Lord, and making their first appearance in the Wastelands, Black Widow.

DeKnight, known for his work on Netflix’s Daredevil and WOLVERINE: BLACK, WHITE & BLOOD, will lead the return alongside artist Ibrahim Moustafa in WASTELANDERS: WOLVERINE, an all-new story set in the days after the conclusion of the original OLD MAN LOGAN, as he fights once again to save the people of the Wastelands who have been crushed under the heel of the Red Skull and Bruce Banner! The supervillains united and took out most of the world’s superheroes decades ago, and while the man known as LOGAN attempted to live a life of peace, he had to pop the claws once again to do what he does best! But saving the day looks different with the Baby Hulk under his care. Is Logan doing the right thing by protecting the progeny of the HULK or dooming what’s left of the war-torn world? Logan may not have long to wonder if he is crushed by the adamantium armor of his newfound enemy Downfall!

“It’s such a rare, bloody joy to be able to transport readers back to the universe of Old Man Logan in the one-shots for WASTELANDERS: WOLVERINE and WASTELANDERS: BLACK WIDOW,” DeKnight said. “Old friends, new foes, and quite a few surprises await. You don’t want to miss this one!”

Wastelanders mastermind Ethan Sacks, writer of both OLD MAN HAWKEYE and OLD MAN QUILL, is also back with artist Ibrahim Roberson to bring you a never-before-told story of Hawkeye’s training with Stick—the man formerly known as Daredevil—in WASTELANDERS: HAWKEYE! Clint Barton’s sight may be gone, but his will to avenge is stronger than ever, and with the training and expert guidance of Matt Murdock, arrows will fly again! But what is Murdock’s actual target? And how will this change Hawkeye’s path in the Wastelands? This is one issue YOU can’t afford to miss!

THE MIGHTY VALKYRIES writer Torunn Grønbekk and rising star Julius Ohta explore the complex nature of everyone’s favorite tyrant in WASTELANDERS: DOOM! Doctor Doom helped wipe out the heroes on the Day the Villains Won, but even as he rules his domain in the Wastelands, a greater destiny calls to him. When a mysterious power blocks his oversight of a particular region, what he discovers will have ripple effects across the WASTELANDERS stories!

Writer Rich Douek (Superman: Red and Blue) makes his Marvel Comics debut alongside artist Brent Peeples in WASTELANDERS: STAR-LORD! The legendary STAR-LORD has fallen on hard times. With the Guardians of the Galaxy disbanded, Peter Quill returned to Earth to find it a wasteland unlike anything he’s seen across the stars – heroes dead, villains in power. While he’s taken out one threat, others remain in the Wastelands, and Star-Lord’s own desire to assuage his guilt for being off-world during the calamity will land him right in the middle of another! Will Quill overcome the mysterious force waiting for him at the sight of his lost love’s death? Or is she not really dead at all?

“I’ve been a huge fan of Marvel’s Wastelands setting ever since the original OLD MAN LOGAN series, and it’s been an honor to contribute to it with WASTELANDERS: STAR-LORD,” Douek said. “Both the new podcast series by Ben Percy, and OLD MAN QUILL from Ethan Sacks and Robert Gill inspired me to really dive into what makes Peter Quill tick and to send him on a thrilling adventure in this grim and gritty version of the Marvel Universe. I can’t wait for readers to come along for the ride and see what we’ve cooked up!” 360 Magazine is honored to cover this promotion as comic books have brought many stories to life.

Bookending the saga, DeKnight will team up with artist Well-Bee to introduce the Wastelander’s take on Natasha Romanoff in WASTELANDERS: BLACK WIDOW. The Lizard King has grown monstrous and deadlier than ever as the lord of his southern domain. But when rumor breaks that critical information is believed to be stored in his impenetrable fortress, only the greatest spy of all is up to the infiltration: the deadly Black Widow! But who is she, and how has she survived this many decades in the Wastelands undetected?

Since Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s legendary 2008 Wolverine story arc, the universe of OLD MAN LOGAN has gripped readers with its hard-hitting stories in multiple spinoff titles and a hit podcast series. Don’t miss the latest evolution of this fascinating saga when this all-new group of WASTELANDERS adventures hit stands in December! For more information, visit Marvel.com.

But in the end…Who Will Reign?

Marvel Comics’ Avengers Forever pulls together archeologist Tony Stark aka the Invincible Ant-Man and Avengers from across the multiverse to bring order to timelines where hope is a four letter word. Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder present an all-new series that will redefine the Avengers as…the Multiverse’s Mightiest Heroes.

The future of the Marvel Universe is here, and Timeless is where it all begins. When a threatening new timeline emerges, Kang the Conqueror must fight his way through the coming year to protect the main 616 timeline he’s worked centuries to solidify as his own. House of X and Powers of X ushered in The First Krakoan Age of the X-Men. Now, Marvel Comics’ X Lives of Wolverine and X Deaths of Wolverine will test ‘the best there is at what he does’ before any mutant can survive to The Second Krakoan Age. Benjamin Percy, Joshua Cassara and Federico Vicentini tell two interlocked tales about what happens to Wolverine when…His Pasts Meet His Future.

Marvel Comics’ She-Hulk, from Rainbow Rowell and Rogê Antônio, throws the book at Jennifer Walters as she tries to put her rage-filled days behind her and return to practicing law in defense of the innocent. But when a friend from her past comes knocking with a mystery she can’t resist, She-Hulk gets…Back To Bashing.

Dan Slott is joined by Carlos Pacheco and Rachael Stott for Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four: Reckoning War, an epic saga over 15 years in the making. The original secret war of the Marvel Universe has been reignited and every living being in reality is in danger, for we are finally at…Our Day Of Reckoning.

Lunella Lafayette and her lovable twenty-foot dinosaur are BACK in Marvel Comics’ Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.  But what shape will their partnership take in this exciting new era?  Keep your eyes peeled in the coming months for more news about the next adventure of the biggest brain in the world that will send dino-sized shockwaves throughout the Marvel Universe. Following a stint in Los Angeles, HAWKEYE: KATE BISHOP picks up at a turning point in Kate’s life when she returns to New York after being convinced by many friends, and a few clues from the case she’s working, to come back to the East Coast. When Kate gets invited to a resort to solve a mysterious jewel heist, she sees it as a confidence-boost, a sign that she’s making the right decision and not going to backslide into her past. The case is perfect…and it’s almost definitely a trap.

The story comes from an elite creative team including New York Times best-selling author Marieke Nijkamp and artist Enid Balám.

Continuing Jason Aaron’s Marvel Universe-shaping run, AVENGERS #750 will be a 96-page milestone issue consisting of multiple game changing stories by an all-star lineup of artists including Carlos Pacheco, Aaron Kuder, Ed McGuinness, and Javier Garrón. The giant-sized epic will be packed with revelations and jaw dropping moments, including the introduction of THE MULTIVERSAL MASTERS OF EVIL, the deadly new group of villains fans met in this year’s FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: AVENGERS/HULK #1!

Throughout this supersize extravaganza, fans will also witness the shocking conclusion of “World War She-Hulk”, finally learn the true purpose of the prehistoric Avengers, uncover the shocking secret of the Iron Inquisitor, watch the Avengers recruit some surprising new members, and follow the Ghost Rider on a quest for vengeance across the Multiverse that will spark an all-new era in Avengers history!

“It’s such an honor to be a part of issue #750 of AVENGERS, and I’m looking to celebrate the rich history of the title and its iconic characters by using this issue as the gargantuan-sized kick-off for a story that’ll be as wildly sweeping and swing-for-the-fences epic as it can possibly be,” Aaron said. “It’s not just that everything I’ve been doing in the last 50 issues of AVENGERS has been leading to this, but there are threads feeding into the next year’s worth of stories that stretch back to most every major series I’ve ever written in my 15 years at Marvel Comics.”

In addition, best-selling author Christopher Ruocchio, known for his award winning The Sun-Eater series, makes his Marvel Comics debut alongside superstar artist Steve McNiven in a bonus story starring Thor.

“I’m honored to play a small part in this moment of Avengers history and thrilled to get to work with Steve McNiven to bring you all a little classic Thor,” Ruocchio said. “It’s a bit surreal to get to work with a character I grew up with, and I hope I’ve told a tale worthy of the God of Thunder.”

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN’S NEXT ERA

Last week, Marvel announced that a team of superstar writers will assemble this October for a brand new run of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Zeb Wells, Kelly Thompson, Saladin Ahmed, Cody Ziglar, and Patrick Gleason have crafted a saga beyond anything that’s come before in Spider-Man history, and the soon-to-be thrice-monthly series will boast an all-star team of amazing artists. Writer/artist Patrick Gleason will be the bedrock of the team, leading the design and doing the art on the over-sized milestone issue AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #75. Joining him will be acclaimed artist Sara Pichelli, the co-creator of Miles Morales doing her first work on Amazing Spider-Man, as well as Michael Dowling, known for his incredible work on Black Cat. In addition, comic book legend Arthur Adams will grace this epic run with his amazing artwork on each and every cover. And this is just the tip of the iceberg for the legends who will be bringing this revolutionary epic to you!

Here’s what Editor Nick Lowe had to say about this upcoming era:

“When we started building ‘Beyond’ we knew we had to pull out all the stops from the artistic side. That began with making sure Patrick Gleason was with us from the get-go as a writer AND an artist. His recent webhead covers have rocked the industry showing yet another element to the incredible career that we all saw on display during his run on Amazing Spider-Man. He quickly stepped up to be our artistic cornerstone, but we also needed to make sure that whoever else joined him were elite talents.

“Sara Pichelli is an absolute legend, creating some of the most impactful work of the last ten years. It’s crazy to think this will be her first time drawing Amazing Spider-Man, and she’s already blown us away with her masterful work. Michael Dowling’s work on Unfollow and other works got him hired for Black Cat, but his work there showed us that he would be an absolute superstar, and his issues are already blowing our minds. And then, to be able to land Arthur Adams as our cover artist. I mean, from his classic X-Men Annuals to today, Arthur has defined the Marvel Universe visually as much as almost anyone. So to have him here? I’m beyond excited. And wait until we reveal the rest of our all-star roster!”

Don’t forget to check out FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2021: SPIDER-MAN/VENOM on August 14th for your first glimpse at what’s to come in this exciting new age of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN! Check out upcoming covers, variant covers, and artwork from the first three series artists and stay tuned for more information, including the grand reveal of the main cover for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #75! AL EWING × RAM V × BRYAN HITCH – NEW VENOM

Following a blockbuster turn by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman, Marvel’s resident master of horror, Al Ewing, and Ram V will take over the adventures of Venom — bringing the same style and sensibilities that made Immortal Hulk a smash hit. Ewing and award-winning author Ram V, a titan of terror in his own right, will work together to lend a dramatic and dangerous air to this twisted new vision of Venom! Rounding out this symbiote hivemind will be legendary artist Bryan Hitch, bringing his rich and detailed style to the Venomverse. The future of Venom lies in the hands of this mastermind team, and you won’t believe what lies ahead!

“When my editors at Marvel reached out about taking on Venom alongside Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, I was not prepared for the kind of creative thrill it has been ever since,” Ram V said. “This story is going to expand and push the symbiote narrative and lore in even more unexpected and fantastic directions. It is also an utter thrill having the sort of call and response mechanic I’ve had with a writer like Al and an artist of Bryan’s caliber. Fans and new readers, strap in— you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”

Solo: Survivors of Chaos via Titan Comics for use by 360 Magazine

Review of Solo: The Survivors of Chaos Vol. 1-2

By: Skyler Johnson

For an artist who’s biggest claims to fame are Tom & Jerry and Disney comic books, it’s hard to imagine that he’s also credited for something like Titan ComicsSolo: The Survivors of Chaos. While it has an art and writing style you’d likely see with either Tom & Jerry or Mickey Mouse, it’s not. Solo instead is essentially if Disney were to show the underlying evils that exist in their movies. It’s if at the end of Tarzan, we would see Clayton being hanged. Blood is spilt and body parts are shown.

The Series Overall Thus Far

The graphic novel follows Solo, a competent fighter who’s just trying to survive in a barren post-apocalyptic wasteland. You can tell Martin put a lot of time and effort into worldbuilding, evident from the lore documents provided at the end of the second book. You want to see more of the universe, which will hopefully occur in later volumes.

The character of Solo is an interesting mix of Guts from Berserk with a touch of Joseph Joestar from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures. He’s stoic but polite, and seems to have a good heart, at least from what we’ve seen so far. The characterization isn’t the draw of the comic, but the characters are engaging enough to be rooted for.

The most impressive aspect of the series so far is the action. Solo: The Survivors of Chaos has some of the best action I’ve ever seen in comics. You can clearly see the motions of each character and it makes for an engaging read. It makes sense given the writer’s background working with Tom & Jerry

However, for a comic that’s so action-focused, the dialogue is still solid. You can tell it’s not Martin’s main strength as there are scenes that feel as though they should’ve been more dialogue heavy but instead were filled with narration, but the narration nevertheless works in conveying what it needs to convey. There are a few places where the reader has to make a few assumptions but anyone who’s read any comic or watched any movie ever should be able to make the conclusions they need to.

The issues I have with it are minor, but need to be discussed. While these types of characters haven’t appeared in the comic thus far, there are a few species that I already know I won’t like if forced to see them. The “trolls” and the “femme fatales” seem like stereotypical depictions of people with intellectual disabilities and sex workers. While I don’t know what they’re going to be, it’s something I’ll look out for as the series continues.

What to Expect in Volume 2

The first volume introduced us to the characters and the story whereas volume 2 was more of a deep dive into the characters. It’s not as action packed as the first volume but still contains good action sequences nonetheless. You also get a glimpse into a possible conflict for our protagonists.

Conclusion

The series thus far has shown itself to be intriguing and I’ll be interested to see where Martin takes it. We’re only two issues in but if Martin develops on the themes he’s hinted at, it’ll be an excellent ride. So far the series gets an 8.8/10.

Volume 1 is out now and Volume 2 will be released on June 22nd. For more updates from Titan Comics, you can follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

Star Wars: The High Republic: Trail Of Shadows art by Ario Anindito from Anthony Blackwood x Marvel Entertainment for use by 360 Magazine

NEW STAR WARS COMIC SERIES

Yesterday, StarWars.com announced Star Wars: The High Republic: Trail Of Shadows, a brand-new Marvel Comics series coming in October! The new limited series will be the latest story set in the exciting High Republic era, the publishing-led Star Wars storytelling initiative that began earlier this year. Written by New York Times Bestselling author Daniel José Older with art by David Wachter, Star Wars: The High Republic: Trail Of Shadows will mark Marvel’s second venture into The High Republic, following the hit ongoing series, Star Wars: The High Republic.

The noir-style mystery will unfold after the shocking events of the Republic Fair and introduce new key High Republic players such as Sian Holt and Jedi Emerick Caphtor, two detectives tasked with uncovering the source of a strange new threat that could bring darkness to the Jedi Order’s golden age. The story will directly tie into the events of other High Republic sagas, including the upcoming new Cavan Scott novel The Rising Storm.

“There are so many weird and terrifying threads to unravel here, and David Wachter’s excellent art fits the mood, urgency, and depth of this story perfectly,” Older told StarWars.com. “I am beyond excited to be working on this thrilling, creepy, delightful story.”

Check out a variant cover above by artist Ario Anindito and stay tuned for more information about this thrilling new High Republic adventure!
