Marvel's Indigenous Voices

Marvel’s Indigenous Voices

Marvel announced a new, special series of variant covers written and drawn by the comic book industry’s biggest indigenous artists for MARVEL’S VOICES: INDIGENOUS VOICES #1.

One of the artists included in the project is Jeffrey Veregge, who recently finished an exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.

Veregge will provide the art for covers featuring characters like Black Panther, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Hulk and Thor.

Veregge said his own people, the S’Klallam Tribe, have used an art style known as Formline to tell their stories for generations. He added that his style is an extension of the art he has seen used by Native artists from his region.

“As a lifelong comic fan, artist and Native American, I am truly honored to work with Marvel Comics today. Not only to create pieces that represent a voice for Indigenous People in honor of Native American Heritage month, but also for the opportunity to share the same storytelling spirit of my ancestors by sharing the tales of some of today’s heroes,” Veregge said.

These variant covers will be available in comic book shops in November, and you can see each and every one of them right here.

Marvel's EMPYRE #4 GETS SECOND PRINTING and is announced inside of 360 MAGAZINE.

EMPYRE #4 GETS SECOND PRINTING

The fourth issue of Marvel’s cosmic epic, EMPYRE, which pits the Kree/Skrull alliance against the Cotati, is getting a second printing after the first printing sold out.

Love prevails in the middle of an intergalactic war in this issue written by Al Ewing and Dan Slott with art by Valerio Schiti.

The first issue of EMPYRE was released in July, and second printings of the first three issues are already available, but the shocking fourth issue will hit comic shops for more fans to experience the story that Marvel said has reshaped the Marvel Universe forever.

The second printing of the fourth issue will also have a variant cover, which will be revealed by Marvel at a later date.

The story continues next week when the fifth issue hits shelves. Readers looking to catch up on EMPYRE can click right here to see every must-read issue in the run, all of which are available digitally and at local comic shops.

A WEDDING BETWEEN TWO MARVEL HEROES IS REVEALED IN EMPYRE #4!

Marvel – EMPYRE #4

As the intergalactic conflict known as EMPYRE rages on, love has prevailed for two of Marvel’s most beloved heroes! In an exciting surprise for readers everywhere at the conclusion of today’s EMPYRE #4, Marvel Comics unveiled that Teddy Altman, the Kree/Skrull hybrid Hulkling, and his longtime boyfriend Billy Kaplan, the powerful magic-wielding Wiccan, made a decision to change their lives forever – when they were married prior to the start of this galaxy-spanning epic!

“I’ve got a lot of love for Hulkling and Wiccan, both individually and as a couple,” Empyre writer Al Ewing said. “So it’s a good feeling to be able to deliver this kind of ‘shock ending’ for readers, which hopefully lifts fans’ spirits a little rather than bringing them down.”

Earlier this year, Hulkling, the son of a Skrull Princess and the original Captain Marvel, fulfilled his destiny by uniting the Kree and Skrull empires against the universal threat of the Cotati. As Emperor of the new Kree/Skrull alliance, the Young Avenger takes center stage in this summer’s EMPYRE saga alongside Wiccan and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Created by writer Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung, Hulkling and Wiccan burst onto the scene in 2005’s groundbreaking Young Avengers series. Since then, the two have been major players in the Marvel Universe and in iconic titles such as Avengers: Children’s Crusade, New Avengers, and Strikeforce.

“When I was first asked to design Wiccan and Hulkling for the Young Avengers, I had no inkling of the longevity they would have or even their impact on the hearts and minds of the readers,” said Cheung. “Billy and Teddy really became fully fleshed people to me, thanks to Allan’s incredible writing, and it’s been wonderfully rewarding to follow their growth and evolution under the guidance of other creators over the years. Now that they’re taking their relationship to the next level, I can’t wait to watch where their next adventure takes them!”

“I’m eternally grateful to writers Al Ewing and Dan Slott, artists Valerio Schiti and Marte Gracia, editor Tom Brevoort, — and of course cover artist Jim Cheung — for telling Teddy’s story so gorgeously — on such an epic scale — and with so much heart,” said Heinberg. “AND for inviting me and Jim to the wedding!”

Hulkling and Wiccan’s story continues in EMPYRE #5 next week and EMPYRE: AVENGERS AFTERMATH #1 this September!

Empyre: Aftermath Avengers 1 will be on sale September 2020. The Aftermath features “Hulkling, the new emperor of the combined Kree and Skrull alien nations.”

Further findings:

  • If a visit to the viewing platform of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa at $55 is too expensive, you can switch to the world’s second tallest building – the 634 meter-high Tokyo Skytree, which costs just $18.

  • Madame Tussauds is a world-renowned wax museum. A visit to the exhibition in London will cost you $46 in admissions. Once inside, you can mingle among royals like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, among other wax replicas of the rich and famous.

  • Entrance to Buckingham Palace costs $31. However, a visit to the Bavarian castle, Neuschwanstein, reminiscent of childhood fairytales, is a cheaper alternative, with admission prices just $14.50.

  • The most expensive attractions are often the newest and have branches around the world. Harry Potter, Trolls, Marvel and One Piece, are films that now have their own remarkable exhibitions, public studios, and attractions that showcase their unique characters and props.

  • With attractions on the list, a sightseeing trip to New York City is the most expensive destination. Holidaymakers would be wise to prepare a solid budgeting plan long in advance.

  • The Colour Factory, a pop-up exhibition currently based in New York City, offers trendy photo motifs alongside a pricey admission of $37.80.

  • The new One World Trade Center has a viewing platform that offers spectacular views of Manhattan and Central Park. With an entrance fee of $34.80, it’s cheaper than both the Top of the Rock observation deck, at $39; and the Empire State Building, also at $39.

  • The admission price of Potala Palace, home of the head of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama, is $29.70. Visiting the Pope is a more economical alternative, with admission to the Sistine Chapel, his official residence in the Vatican City, just $18.
