Black Cat: Infinity Score

This summer, fans discovered the whereabouts of Marvel Comics’ most legendary artifacts in INFINITE DESTINIES! Unfolding over a series of epic annuals, this unpredictable story saw heroes from all corners of the Marvel Universe on a chase to prevent the powerful Infinity Stones from falling into the wrong hands. Central to the action was Marvel’s iconic thief Black Cat who walked away as the new wielder of this great cosmic power. The events of this story spun out into INFINITY SCORE, the current arc in her hit ongoing series. Now, fans will witness the stunning conclusion to this grand saga in GIANT-SIZE BLACK CAT: INFINITY SCORE. Written by BLACK CAT writer Jed MacKay with art by C.F. Villa, this oversized special will be a character-redefining one-shot with huge repercussions for the future of the Marvel Universe…

Black Cat has brought half of the Infinity Stones together, collecting a level of power that hasn’t been seen in years! But to what end? This hasn’t taken her out of the crosshairs of Nick Fury OR Nighthawk, and with the Infinity Stones involved, can Thanos be far behind?

Here’s what MacKay had to say about bringing his Black Cat saga to its finale: “One last job.”

It’s a powerful phrase. Sometimes that’s how crime stories start, and sometimes that’s how they end. In this case, it’s the latter. But never fear, we’re sending Felicia and her crew off in style with GIANT-SIZE BLACK CAT #1, the 30-page finale to the INFINITY SCORE, where we see Felicia pull off the final hair-raising heist of her series, where the risks are high and the stakes are even higher. Juggling the job, the various cosmically powered misfits she’s collected, the shady movers who are after the stones and their hosts for their own reasons, and her own personal problems, Felicia’s putting it all on the line for the greatest payoff she can imagine. And when the smoke clears, will the Black Cat have landed on her feet, or will she land herself in jail, or a grave? Find out in GIANT-SIZE BLACK CAT #1 this November!

“BLACK CAT has been a gift. In the two-and-a-half years or so since we started this book, Felicia Hardy went from a character that I was passingly familiar with to my favorite, and in the course of that time I’ve been privileged enough to work with some of the best artists, colorists, and letterers in the business. For a book we weren’t sure was going to make it past #5, we’ll have wrapped up 25 issues in total and have taken Felicia all across the Marvel Universe and back. It’s a book I’m going to miss dearly, but we’ve shown the world that the Black Cat can hang with anyone and deserves her seat at the table!”

Did Black Cat get lucky or did her luck just run out? Find out in the startling climax to INFINITE DESTINIES when GIANT-SIZE BLACK CAT: INFINITY SCORE #1 hits stands in November! For more information, click HERE.

“I was lucky to begin my career with Marvel and now am extremely lucky to re-connect with Marvel. That’s an enormous amount of good fortune. I sincerely thank all the folks up at Marvel, and Disney, who worked for this fortunate re-connection to happen.,” Romita Jr. said. “To add to all this, and I hate to add a third section to my good fortune, is the opportunity to start off with a huge project, which is the 60th anniversary of the Fantastic Four! It is an honor and extreme privilege to be asked to work on this along with a friend and former collaborator, Dan Slott! MARVEL VOICES: COMMUNIDADES

This October, Marvel Comics is proud to present MARVEL’S VOICES: COMUNIDADES! This latest one-shot in the groundbreaking Marvel’s Voices series will continue the tradition of highlighting the cultural richness of Marvel Comics and uplifting new voices in the comic book industry. Following the success of MARVEL’S VOICES: LEGACY and MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE, MARVEL’S VOICES: COMUNIDADES will turn the spotlight to Latinx heroes and creators from the Marvel Universe.

These all-new stories will feature thrilling adventures of some of Marvel’s most popular heroes while celebrating the range of their cultural heritage as told by fan-favorite writers and artists and those making their Marvel Comics debut.

  • Writer Terry Blas introduces a brand-new hero in an action-packed adventure spinning out of his acclaimed Reptil series.
  • New York Times best-selling author Daniel José Older revisits the legacy of Marvel’s first superhero of Latino descent, Hector Ayala aka White Tiger, in an inspiring story rooted in real history.
  • Catch up with the current White Tiger, Ava Ayala, when author Amparo Ortiz has the young hero confront the dark nature of her powers.
  • Travel to the past with writer Juan Ponce to witness Nina the Conjuror, the Brazilian Sorcerer Supreme of the 1950s, battle the raging nature spirit known as Anhangá.
  • Plus an introduction by renowned comics scholar Frederick Luis Aldama about the history of Latinx heroes and creators in the comic book industry.

Stay tuned for information on the other stories in this collection including works by Karla Pacheco, Alex Segura, Leo Romero, Edgar Delgado, Nico Leon, and more!

“Marvel Voices has been an amazing force in comics, letting creators from so many backgrounds bring our heritage and identities to Marvel stories,” Pacheco, who recently penned a Marvel’s Voices essay for Marvel.com, said. “I’m honored to bring this very personal story from my own childhood to the book through Robbie Reyes.”

“This is such an excellent project, and I’m very happy to get to be part of it,” Older said. “I’ve read all the Marvel’s Voices collections and loved them, so it’s great to be able to write for one! ¡Pa’lante!”

“Marvel Voices is such a unique project that I feel really drills down on the core Marvel tenet of reflecting the world outside your window, so when the opportunity came to help put together Marvel Voices: Comunidades and celebrate the Latinx community, I couldn’t have been more excited,” Co-Editor Lauren Amaro said. “And that excitement only continues to grow as story pitches continue to roll in, trust me, you’re not going to want to miss out on what this talented group of creators have got cooking up!”

Marvel’s first Latino superhero, White Tiger, was created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist George Pérez in 1974’s DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG FU #19. Since then, Marvel has introduced many heroes of Latino-descent from a multitude of different backgrounds including current stars such as Miles Morales, America Chavez, and Reptil. Join us in celebrating these heroes and many more when MARVEL’S VOICES: COMUNIDADES #1 hits stands on October 20th!Manhanni via Marvel for use by 360 Magazine Zitro Variant for Marvel for use by 360 Magazine

X-FORCE: KILLSHOT

30 years ago, X-FORCE #1 debuted and took the comic book industry by storm! Created by Rob Liefeld, X-FORCE #1 was a blockbuster success, selling over 5 million copies to become one of the best-selling single issues in Marvel Comics history. Commemorating the anniversary of this groundbreaking issue, Rob Liefeld will return to the X-Force saga this November with a new chapter in X-FORCE: KILLSHOT!

The X-Force is an offshoot of the X-Men run by superhero Cable that takes a more aggressive approach to fighting crime. This special one-shot will feature an explosive adventure starring Cable and his mighty militant mutant squad, taking readers back to the beloved ‘90s heyday of the X-Men franchise. Thirty years in the making, I intend to make every page a huge kick for fans new and old.”

New Marvel Hero Introduced in “MARVEL’S VOICES PRIDE: #1”

Last week, fans got their first glimpse at a brand-new hero set to debut this June: SOMNUS! Fans eager to learn more about this mysterious character will have to pick up “MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE #1” where his fascinating backstory will be told by critically acclaimed writer Steve Orlando (Wonder WomanCurse of the Man-Thing) and, in her Marvel Comics debut, Eisner-nominated artist Claudia Aguirre (Hotel Dare).

A mutant who had an extraordinary impact on an X-Man long ago, Somnus’ powers give him total control of people’s dreams, but he was never able to follow his own. Now, Somnus is given a second chance at life, and he’s determined to make the most out of it on the thriving mutant nation of Krakoa! With a mesmerizing costume design by artist Luciano Vecchio and unique mutant gifts, it’s time for Somnus to step up in a big way and become the hero he was always destined to be.

“Somnus, Carl Valentino, is inspired not only by my own family history, but by my experiences with past generations of LGBTQ+ folks from across the country, people I wouldn’t have met without comics,” Orlando explained. “While there is still plenty of work to do, we’ve also come a long way as a community. Somnus is a chance to explore how my own late queer relatives may have felt, living in more prejudiced times. He’s also a chance to celebrate past generations as a whole and acknowledge the strides we’ve made that they may not have lived to see. And with the Krakoan era being one of relative utopia for mutantkind, Somnus will bring a fresh perspective, and respectful gut check, to the young mutants of the present who may not know just how hard some had to fight for all mutants have achieved. Within the story and without, Somnus will be a new, complex character carrying a message of respect, power, and vision.”

“Marvel’s Voices: Pride is ticking so many dream assignments for me! On top of doing the cover, a frame variant, and a story that I got to write myself, I also got to design a new queer character introduced in a story written by Steve Orlando,” Vecchio said. “I’m so happy to finally collaborate officially with Steve and I fell in love with Somnus’ concept and backstory right away. I got some input from him and editor Sarah Brunstad but also a lot of liberty to propose ideas. This time the design process itself felt almost like channeling. I wanted him to have an air of ‘man of your dreams,’ very charming and human but unreachable at the same time. Some visual elements are a mix of Mod fashion, a bit of Hellfire Gala influence, and a palette based on Etruscan vase art as a nod to the god he’s named after.”

Somnus will also be the star of Luciano Vecchio’s celebratory “MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE #1” Frame Variant cover! An homage to the iconic Marvel 25th Anniversary covers released in 1985, Somnus takes the spotlight surrounded by some of Marvel’s brightest LGBTQ+ heroes. Don’t miss this uplifting Marvel story when Somnus makes his first appearance in “MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE #1” on June 23rd! For more information, click HERE.
