JONATHAN HICKMAN AND VALERIO SCHITI, G.O.D.S. via 360 Magazine.

JONATHAN HICKMAN AND VALERIO SCHITI

First teased last year at San Diego Comic-Con, the time has finally come to reveal what writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Valerio Schiti have planned for Marvel Comics. This fall, the forces at the heart of the Marvel Universe will be stunningly reimagined and evolved in a new series from two of the industry’s most brilliant minds.

Over the last decade, Hickman has boldly transformed the worlds of the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men. G.O.D.S. will mark his most ambitious undertaking to date, dramatically reshaping Marvel’s pantheon of cosmic beings and the entities behind the very fabric of reality.

Known for his outstanding work on events like Empyre and A.X.E. Judgment Day, acclaimed artist Valerio Schiti will join Hickman to bring forth this epic journey into the unknown. Together, along with master colorist Marte Gracia, the team will build a new Marvel mythology overflowing with daring concepts, intricate systems, and fascinating new characters, some of whom have been in action long before your favorite Marvel heroes. At last year’s New York Comic Con, fans got a glimpse at the new cast in early concept art, but who are they really? And what catastrophe finally draws them out of the shadows?

Meet Wyn, a mysterious player in a war that exists outside of the orders we know and a vital member of an eons-old hierarchy that includes the omnipotent rulers of the universe such as Eternity, Infinity, and the Living Tribunal. After a fateful meeting with Doctor Strange, Wyn hints at something even bigger than the forces of good and evil, where the very building blocks of creation scheme and clash. It’s the beginning of a breathtaking epic at the crossroads of science and magic, one that will shatter our understanding and open our eyes to ideas beyond all that we perceive.

“When I came back to Marvel a few years ago, I wrote two series bibles. The first was House of X and the other one was G.O.D.S.,” Hickman explained. “To say that I’m excited to finally be able to share this story with everyone is a massive understatement. G.O.D.S. takes place in its own special corner of the Marvel Universe — in the cracks that lie at the intersection of science and magic — and revisits some characters and concepts that we’ve reimagined for a more modern, continuity-driven audience.”

“When I was given a chance to work with Jonathan on a new project, I accepted right away,” Schiti said. “Then I discovered that we would be reimagining gods in the Marvel Universe: how they work, what they do, and how they interact with each other and humanity. It’s the kind of project that makes you weak in the knees when you think about it. Luckily, Jonathan has the gift to make even the most complex stories surprisingly simple and understandable. His pitch inspired me almost immediately. The core of the story is so perfect and clear that it swept away my anxiety and turned it into a burst of creativity.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Valerio Schiti on this for the last year, and watching him bring this to life has been a total joy,” Hickman added. “G.O.D.S. is my favorite kind of Marvel comic: one that feels like something old, but pushes the Marvel Universe in an exciting new direction.”

“The thing that I love the most is how the story grows, starting on the streets of New York and then taking the characters and the readers on an incredible journey with the Marvel pantheon,” Valerio continued. “We will bring you to new places, show you what was hidden though the wrinkles of reality, introduce new characters, and put a fresh spin on old ones. You think you knew the Marvel Universe? Well, we will prove you wrong!”

Fans can experience the wonder that awaits in G.O.D.S. right now in a new trailer.

What happens when The Powers That Be meet The Natural Order of Things? You wouldn’t believe us if we told you. Honoring Marvel's George Pérez via 360 Magazine.

Honoring Marvel’s George Pérez

Last year, the comic industry lost one of its most exemplary storytellers, artist George Pérez. During his illustrious career at Marvel Comics, George’s talents graced the pages of AvengersFantastic Four, and many more. His contributions to some of comic books’ most inspirational sagas like Infinity Gauntlet and his seminal run on New Teen Titans will ensure his artwork will live on for generations for fans to enjoy, and later this year, Marvel Comics will celebrate that impact with a new line of variant covers. Working with his estate, Marvel Comics has collected rare drawings from George’s archives and starting in June, these pieces will beautifully restored, colored, and showcased on the covers of select Marvel releases. These covers spotlight George’s legendary depictions of Marvel’s greatest heroes, giving fans an opportunity to reflect on his groundbreaking work on the genre.

“George Pérez may no longer be with us, but his work is immortal. And so it’s a delight to be able to share these seldom-seen pieces by George done throughout his career with all of his legions of fans,” Marvel VP Executive Editor Tom Brevoort said.

“George loved his fans. He loved meeting them and he loved drawing for them. His joy was evident in every smile, hug and stroke of his pen,” Constance Eza of The George Perez Trust shared. “We are beyond thrilled and grateful that Marvel has conceived of this cover program to showcase some of his commissioned works to be enjoyed by fans the world over. We miss him terribly, but his art is part of a legacy that will continue to resonate for years to come. We hope you enjoy these never before published covers!”

The GEORGE PÉREZ VARIANT COVERS will also be available as Virgin Covers. Check out five of the covers now, including non-final sketches, and look for them on your favorite titles throughout the year. For more information, visit Marvel.com.

DOCTOR STRANGE #1 by Jed MacKay & Pasqual Ferry via 360 MAGAZINE.

DOCTOR STRANGE #1

THE MASTER OF THE MYSTIC ARTS RETURNS TO RESHAPE YOUR REALITY IN NEW DOCTOR STRANGE SERIES!

Jed MacKay and Pasqual Ferry launch a new DOCTOR STRANGE ongoing series this March

Jed MacKay’s acclaimed work on the Doctor Strange mythos has captivated readers over the past year, and this March, a thrilling new chapter begins. Spinning out of the character’s terrifying demise in Death of Doctor Strange and Clea’s time as Sorcerer Supreme in Strange comes an all-new ongoing series for Stephen Strange where he’ll resume his duties as Marvel’s Master of the Mystic Arts!

This time around, MacKay will be joined by superstar artist Pasqual Ferry, known for his stylish work on recent titles like Namor: Conquered Shores and Spider-Man: Spider’s Shadow. These two talents have devised a grand plan for Doctor Strange centered around a shocking mystery that strikes at the very heart of Strange’s legacy and purpose. The journey that follows will harken back to the iconic hero’s psychedelic and otherworldly storytelling, taking readers to places only Strange would dare to go and introducing enemies only he could hope to defeat, including a brand-new threat that Strange shares a personal connection with. In honor of this new saga, Doctor Strange will be donning a revamped costume designed by the legendary Alex Ross, who will also be gracing the series with breathtaking covers!

Stephen Strange is back! Reunited with Clea and Wong, it’s back to business as usual for the Sorcerer Supreme. Have your children fallen into a deep nightmarish slumber? Are demonic refugees invading your home? Is your husband possessed by a satanic entity? Then call Doctor Strange! But when someone else begins to issue their own dark justice on Strange’s mightiest foes, Strange embarks on an interdimensional search for answers, only to discover the culprit may be closer to home than he thinks…

“After Death of Doctor Strange, after Strange, we open the next act in our ongoing saga of the Sorcerer Supreme in DOCTOR STRANGE #1!” MacKay proclaimed. “It’s been really exciting to have the opportunity to not only continue exploring the magical side of the Marvel Universe with the inhabitants of 177A Bleecker Street, but to follow the lives of the Stranges as the last year and a half has put them through the wringer. Pasqual has been putting together a truly magical book, and I’m super psyched to show people what’s in store for Stephen and Clea Strange- and of course, we won’t be giving them any time off after recent events…”

“When I started working for Marvel, there were three comics I had always wanted to draw:Fantastic FourSpider-Man, and Doctor Strange,” Ferry said. “Why Doctor Strange? Because his stories include all the elements I love as an artist—the fantasy, science fiction, and imagination. Above all, the fact that I could look at Steve Ditko’s work as a reference really motivates me! When he drew Doctor Strange, all the utopian and imaginary sceneries were incredible. So this is a very special moment in my career, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the character is going to take us with this new narrative. I know a lot of artists, including myself, consider Doctor Strange a challenge, like there is a need to add something new to the character because it offers you that possibility. For me, Doctor Strange is a big challenge, but I embrace it.”

Enter a new reality alongside comic books’ greatest magical hero when DOCTOR STRANGE #1 hits stands in March! For more information, visit Marvel.com.

Marvel StormBreakers

Last week, Marvel Comics announced the debut of MARVEL’S STORMBREAKERS, its latest preeminent talent distinction program to spotlight the next generation of elite artists in the industry.

This new class is comprised of eight artists from all over the world. The artists will hold a two year spot and be working on different Marvel Universe projects over this time.

“Named after Beta Ray Bill’s enchanted hammer, Stormbreakers is a new evolution of Marvel’s previous Young Guns program,” according to IGN, “which ran from 2004 to 2019 and celebrated a number of then up-and-coming artists like Steve McNiven, Russell Dauterman and Sara Pichelli.”

The eight STORMBREAKERS already have an extensive resume in the Marvel world and will become an even part of the franchise’s artist team.

ComicBook.com reveals that, “As a group, they are already responsible for leading some of Marvel’s most popular titles, including Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Venom, and others, shaping Marvel’s shared storytelling universe.”

Today, Marvel is excited to reveal that local comic shops will receive a collection of variant covers featuring the extraordinary artwork of the inaugural class which includes Josh Cassara (X-Force), Patrick Gleason (Amazing Spider-Man), Peach Momoko (known for her best-selling covers), Natacha Bustos (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur), Iban Coello (Venom), Carmen Carnero (Hellions), Juann Cabal (Guardians of the Galaxy), and R.B. Silva (Fantastic Four, Powers of X).

These groundbreaking artists will unleash their creative talents to bring some of Marvel’s most beloved heroes to life in brand-new artwork. These stunning character portraits in each Stormbreaker’s iconic style will be available as variant covers on issues of your favorite ongoing titles starting this December.

According to Marvel, “The mythical Stormbreaker is an iconic symbol that debuted during one of many trailblazing eras of the Marvel Universe – bringing change within the pages of THOR, for legendary creators like Walter Simonson, and for Marvel fans everywhere. During this era, Marvel grew to embrace bold new initiatives, deeper character-driven stories, and unique new art styles.”

It is no surprise they used this to symbolize these eight artists. Each artist brings a new and unique style to the Marvel franchise and are already tastemakers in the Universe.
