JOE FIXIT cover by Cully Hamner VIA 360 Magazine

THE RETURN OF JOE FIXIT

Known for his legendary and impactful run on INCREDIBLE HULK, superstar comics writer Peter David is proving his acclaimed work on the Hulk mythos is far from over! Having just finished an epic trilogy of limited series that told the grand saga of Hulk villain MAESTRO, David will now turn his attention to another iconic creation of his—JOE FIXIT! The fan-favorite Hulk persona that muscled his way through Las Vegas as a hedonistic bodyguard will star in his very own limited series set during David’s original time on the INCREDIBLE HULK. Joining David in this Sin City adventure will be artist Yildiray Cinar (The Marvels).

“When I created Joe Fixit decades ago, it was merely as a means to shake up the standard formula,” David explained. “Typically Bruce would have set up some sort of situation and he would be worried that the Hulk would inevitably show up and screw things up. The storyline with Joe flipped the formula on its head and set up the Hulk with his great situation in Vegas and he was worried that Bruce would show up to screw things up. I had no idea that the character would have this much-staying power, and that so much would eventually be done with him in the pages of the IMMORTAL HULK. I’m thrilled that Marvel has given me this opportunity to revisit with an old friend.”

STRANGE ACADEMY FINALE ARRIVES THIS APRIL

Marvel Comics introduced STRANGE ACADEMY to fans in 2020, which is a mystical series produced by writer Skottie Young and artist Humberto Ramos. The series follows some of Marvel’s strongest sorcerers as they attend Doctor Strange’s school for the mystic arts. At the school, Marvel characters are introduced and taught the skills necessary to work with magic. Throughout 18 eccentric issues, Marvel fans have been introduced to new stars such as Emily Bright, Doyle Dormammu and Zoe Laveau, seeing the true prospective of magic in the future of the Marvel Universe. The phenomenon ends its first chapter in April’s STRANGE ACADEMY #18, but there’s a surplus of STRANGE ACADEMY still to come.

Writer of STRANGE ACADEMY Skottie Young spoke on the series, stating, “This book is so close to my heart. We created so many brand new characters and brought each one to life in such a unique way. Working alongside my brother Humberto over these last 18 issues has been such a special thing to me. I’m just glad we have more Strange Academy stories to tell and can’t wait to get them in your hands!”

Senior Editor of the series, Nick Lowe, also had words on the series. He said, “Platitudes get thrown around a lot in these pages, but if you’ve been reading STRANGE ACADEMY, you know we don’t mess around. So listen up, seriously, you do not want to miss this issue that is going to destroy you emotionally and destroy the school beyond recognition.”

The out-of-this-universe finale of STRANGE ACADEMY comes out on April 27. Get ready for the second semester of STRANGE ACADEMY that begins this summer. For more information, visit Marvel.com.

DONNY CATES × RYAN STEGMAN — FAREWELL TO VENOM

VENOM #200 hits stands tomorrow!

Tomorrow marks the end one of the most revolutionary Marvel sagas of the last decade: Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman’s VENOM. The superstar creative team will close out their redefining work on Eddie Brock and the symbiote mythos in Venom’s milestone 200th issue. Over the years, Cates and Stegman have torn Eddie Brock’s life asunder, uncovering long-hidden mysteries behind the nature of symbiotes while exploring Venom’s very nature as a Marvel hero. This bold era launched two line-wide events, Absolute Carnage and King in Black, and will leave a lasting impact not only on the character of Venom but on the Marvel Universe as a whole. The acclaimed duo recently sat down to reflect on their run in a special farewell video, spotlighting their greatest moments as well as a sneak peek at tomorrow’s issue.

“We’re gonna end this run the way that we started it—by exploding everything you ever thought that you knew, and setting the stage for something that’s truly and honestly going to change Eddie and the Marvel Universe forever,” Cates said.

“We’ve got some of the coolest images in the series coming up in 200,” Stegman promises. “If you thought that Venom with a battle axe with a star field on his costume with glowing eyes was crazy, you haven’t seen much yet.”

CONAN THE BARBARIAN

New York, NY—This January, Conan makes his triumphant return to Marvel Comics in the all-new CONAN THE BARBARIAN! And today, Marvel is excited to announce the new creative team of the first series – the acclaimed team who will lead the famed barbarian into his new adventures!

Superstar writer Jason Aaron will helm the new tales of the sword-slashing hero, bringing him to life alongside star artist Mahmud Asrar (X-Men Red, Cloak and Dagger). Aaron and Asrar will be joined by cover artist Esad Ribic (Fantastic Four, Secret Wars, Marvel Legacy) and Eisner Award-winning colorist Matt Wilson (Runaways, The Mighty Thor.)

“I’ve literally been preparing for this job since I was 13 and discovered my first Robert E. Howard Conan paperback in a used bookstore in my little hometown of Jasper, Alabama,” said Aaron. “I devoured every Howard book I could find after that, and I’ve been making up Conan stories in my head ever since. Now I finally get to do that for real, alongside the amazing Mahmud Asrar. So this opportunity means an awful lot to me, and I’m cherishing every blood-splattered, spider-haunted second of it.”

“Growing up, Conan was one of the first comic books I’ve read. It’s partly responsible in making me a lifelong comic book reader,” said Asrar. “In fact, it’s the first book where I’ve noticed the names of the creators and that being a comic book artist was something I could do for a living. Now, years later, I get the chance to draw the book myself and do it with the amazing Jason Aaron. I couldn’t be happier to tell epic new tales of the Cimmerian – to continue the legacy that will hopefully make a mark on readers, just like the original comics did for me.”

“I can’t wait for readers to see the epic scope of the first story lined up for CONAN,” shared editor Mark Basso. “Like our illustrious writer and artist, my intro to Conan came in the form of an old paperback that magically found its way to me as a kid, and this team is harnessing all of that love and respect for the character’s history while expanding the Hyborian mythos in a way that’s really never been done before.”

“These past months have been an exciting whirlwind for us and the folks at Marvel, going through creative teams with passion for the Cimmerian,” added Fredrik Malmberg, President & CEO of Cabinet Entertainment. “Jason and Mahmud are crafting a really strong story, it’s amazing to see the process and pages coming through. Esad Ribic’s covers evoke the classic Conan, yet with his own distinct and personal freshness. Crom!”

This January, be prepared to witness Conan’s exploits, magic, and mayhem in an all-new series, starting with CONAN THE BARBARIAN #1!
