BACARDÍ No Commision

BACARDÍ, Swizz Beatz and The Dean Collection Bring the Heat and “Island Might” Spirit to NO COMMISSION in Miami,

the City Where it All Started

Featuring Michael B. Jordan, Alicia Keys, Virgil Abloh, Leikeli47, Amar’e Stoudemire and more!

BACARDÍ, Swizz Beatz and The Dean Collection kicked off NO COMMISSION: Miami 2017, a three-day, art and music experience taking place December 7 – 9, 2017, at Soho Studios in Wynwood on Thursday, December 7. NO COMMISSION is a roving experiential platform that forges a direct link between art and art patronage. All artists are given their exhibition space for free and 100% of the sale of each artwork goes directly to the artists.

The invite-only event featured big star power, including critically acclaimed actor Michael B. Jordan, Grammy Award-winning artist Alicia Keys, former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire, creative visionary Virgil Abloh, Major Lazer’s Jillionaire and famed celebrity photographer Jonathan Mannion. Performance highlights include Leikeli47, performing her hit “Money,” a special DJ set by Swizz Beatz, DJ Runna and Aine Zion.

BACARDÍ and Grammy Award-winning music producer Swizz Beatz brought together some of the most disruptive creatives in today’s culture to discuss the future of creativity during an intimate panel discussion on the first day of the immersive art and music fair. During the “Future of Creativity” panel, which was moderated by Brooklyn Museum Director Anne Pasternak and featured Swizz Beatz, Virgil Abloh, Kimberly Drew, Nora Khan and Carmen Aguilar Y Wedge, panelists discussed topics such as social responsibility, the impact of social media, corporate accountability and the role creatives play in today’s culture.

After a global tour to Shanghai and Berlin, NO COMMISSION made its triumphant return to Miami – BACARDÍ’s backyard. This showcase is themed around the idea of “Island Might” which focuses on the strength and vitality of the Caribbean while examining family and the intersection of land and sea, ritual, revolution and color – all as elemental forces that illuminate the roadmap for a bright future of endless possibility.

The injection of immersive music performances from collaborator BACARDÍ shakes up the traditional art fair, creating a unique culture experience for visitors.

Swizz Beatz

Swizz Beatz celebrates the return of the groundbreaking art platform No Commission to Miami after a two year tour around the world which helped put over $3 million directly into artist pockets.

Taking place from December 7th to 9th, 2017 at SOHO Studios in the Wynwood section in Miami, No Commission returns to its roots after a whirlwind international tour where it has become a global revolution for the future of art and sound. Timed to one of the world’s biggest art fairs, No Commission is more than an art fair: it is a unique three-day cultural experience that celebrates the fusion of sonic and visual art, moulding the new generation of global artistic appreciation. Since its inception in 2015, No Commission has challenged traditional art fair formats by giving artists free exhibition space and total control of sales.

No Commission is the brainchild of Grammy Award-winning artist and producer Swizz Beatz, The Dean Collection and BACARDÍ, and seeks to forge a direct link between the artists, art community and art patrons. A Grammy-winner once dubbed “the best rap producer of all time” by Kanye West, Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean has penned beats for Whitney Houston, Jay Z, Beyoncé and others. Alongside his Wife Alicia Keys, Beatz is a noted fashion designer, painter and art collector. His No Commission platform is uniquely designed to support both new and established artists in a way that breaks down conventional barriers – all artists are given their exhibition space for free and 100% of the sale of each artwork goes directly to the artists.

The Miami event is the sixth in a series of artist support collaborations. Past editions were held in Miami, New York, London, Shanghai and Berlin where artworks were sold and artists retained 100% of sales proceeds. Swizz Beatz, BACARDÍ and The Dean Collection launched NO COMMISSION at Miami Art Basel two years ago. Since then, they’ve put over $3 million directly into artist pockets.

All B Roll footage from the event, including interviews with the artists, general videos of the artworks and of the performances is available free of charge and free of copyright via:

Antix x “When It Falls”

“A radical voice” – Clash Music

“Poignant messages over soulful beats” – Red Bull Music

“His talent is genre crossing, in a very honest sense” – Huffington Post

SOUNDCLOUD

Antix is an unconventional rapper, part of a generation of more conscious hip hop artists alá Logic or Khalid. His music has always proudly stood outside the norms of his genre, and shuns the bravado and materialism of many of his contemporaries. He has delivered his signature flow on topics ranging from mental illness (“Come Home”) to religious oppression (“Afshin’s Song”). His work is heavily informed by his own experiences, and aims to help end stigmas around certain topics.

To date, Antix has dropped two mixtapes, 2010’s ‘Inflammable Grammar’ and 2014’s ‘Question Everything;’ which saw support from the likes of Red Bull Music, BBC Introducing and MTV Brand New. Though he initially struggled to fit into the London hip hop scene, so different was what he was doing, and he used social media instead to foster intimate fan interactions. As a result, his openness and energy has gained him a multitude of followers across the world (his current streaming figures are 3 million).

“I was always trying to be ‘accepted’ by some scene, until I realized that the fans are all that matter. People message me now and tell me my music saved their life, helped them with depression, things like that. When you realized how important that is, the ‘scene’ can go fuck itself.”

Antix returns with his new track “When It Falls,” and his re-location to the US is evident in the shift in tone. The song shifts between the quiet, resolute core of Antix’s verses and the emotional gusts of Greg Delson’s choruses. This is a mission statement on determination in the face of adversity, a significant subject for Antix. He is an artist with great success behind him, and continues to claw his way forward. While also involved with ‘secret concert’ collective Flights of Voices and socially conscious movements such as Occupy Wall Street, he is nothing if not ambitious. With “When It Falls,’ Antix continues to display that ambition and his potential for universal appeal. This is an artist who knows exactly what he wants to do, who he is, and who he is going to be.

Upscale Music Group/Interscope Records newcomer Jaira Burns releases a visual for her latest track “High Rollin.” The video, directed by Matthew Dillon Cohen, is a compilation of slice-of-life visuals that follow Burns and her friends as they kick back and smoke up. The singer-songwriter has created a genre of her own that she describes as “dark pop, gypsy urban.” She has cultivated sounds that are magically reminiscent of her upbringing, which blended rural atmospheres with urban textures and tones. Her breakout single “Ugly” was handpicked by Olivier Rousteing as the musical backdrop for the Beats/Balmain ad campaign which featured Kylie Jenner.

“High Rollin” is now available at all digital retailers. Jaira will be supporting Australian-born musician Wafia on tour which kicks off January 22, 2018. Tickets for the tour can be purchased at www.jairaburns.com.

Miami, FL – Saturday, December 9th, 2017: Thousands of art enthusiasts attended the second full day of Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami to discover more than 75 modern and contemporary galleries from the Florida region and around the globe, representing over 500 leading contemporary artists from primary and secondary markets, within the walls of the only three shows under one roof.

On Friday evening, local Miami producer and fashion curator, Celia Evans of Planet Fashion TV, put on a stunning presentation at Red Dot Miami entitled ‘Art After Dark’ that showcased art-inspired fashion through the ages. The invitation-only VIP event featured models on top of especially created boxes, transformed with designs from various labels from the seventies, eighties, nineties and today. DJ entertainment and live music were enjoyed by a crowd of hundreds who gathered around the main entertainment area to catch a glimpse of models wearing retro designs and t-shirts with bold fashion statements.

Today’s third complete day of programming invites attendees to meet the acclaimed abstract artist from Guatemala, Sergio “Valenz” Valenzuela – a contemporary artist who tells stories with everyday objects, primarily expressing them with graphite and acrylic on canvas. His medium to large abstract artworks prominently feature elements such as chairs, ladders, and beds. These recognizable structures serve as a way for the artist to signify the opportunities, growth and dreams we all carry as individuals. Valenz’ wall art has been featured in over eighty group shows and thirty solo exhibitions in South America and around the world. Among numerous recognitions and awards he was selected as the winner of the “Young Artist” award in 2005, and granted a scholarship to study at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts, Valen.

Programming highlights for Saturday, December 9th at Spectrum Miami and Red Dot Miami, include the following.

The chairs signify, according to the context, opportunities and the patience required for them to step into our lives. The ladders represent our desire to climb, to continue our personal growth. Beds represent periods when we sleep and dream, things we cannot share with anyone else. Playful characters are representative of the uniqueness and singularity of each of the moments that we experience throughout our lifetimes and the game that life is. Painting, caricature, illustration—each work beckons the viewer to come closer to catch the references to architecture, music, cinema, literature, calligraphy, physics, psychology. The pieces are alive with movement and hidden meanings. Come meet these innovative artists and see what influence their art makes upon you.
