Why Detox Now

Are you ready to restart your health similar to how we reset our phones when they get slow and sluggish? The cumulative effects of living, eating and breathing in our toxic world are very often causing our bodys to be sluggish, decreasing our energy, brain function,  producing weight gain and reducing the quality of our life.  

I have been counseling people for more than four decades on the subject of detox for the betterment of their health through my wellness clinic and personal education. Observing my clients over the years has clearly shown me the vital importance of effective therapies regarding detoxification in order to attain results to optimize their health. I will be offering you three steps to effective and healthy detox methods in this article.   

The science of detoxification of every single living organism has been intensively studied and its biochemistry illustrates its varied mechanisms of action. The mere fact that nature placed highly efficient detox pathways within all living creatures confirms its vital importance to the continuation of life. Traditional medicine does not recognize the negative effects of toxins like hormone disruptors, mold, pesticides, fungicides, carcinogens, and the list goes on and on. Even in the best situations where we embrace organic foods daily and clean lifestyle we continue to be exposed to toxins from vaccines, mold in the workplace or home, pharmaceuticals, water, skin care products, suntan lotions, chemicals like Roundup (which is found in almost all foods), and the list goes on and is almost endless. The body has only so much capacity within its system of detox and clearly these days the body is often at or beyond capacity in many individuals.

One of the most stunning studies performed showing the potential serious concerns of toxins in our daily life was on analyzing umbilical cord blood. Not that long ago, scientists believed that the placenta shielded cord blood — and the developing baby — from most chemicals and pollutants in the environment. In the study spearheaded by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), two major laboratories found an average of 200 industrial chemicals in umbilical cord blood. The blood harbored pesticides, consumer product ingredients and wastes from gasoline and garbage. Information such as this can motivate people toward the clear need for detoxification. The first step in assisting anyone with his or her health is making sure they clearly understand and believe in the process itself. Many traditional healthcare practitioners often do not use detoxification as part of their toolbox. This makes education a top priority to achieve success.

For the majority of individuals when they hear the word “detox” they are thinking colon and going to the bathroom. We know regularity does have a place in lessening toxins, but I am more concerned with cellular detox for most of my clients. I always address the issue of regularity and the need to work towards regular bowel movements, but too many so called natural cleansers are nothing more than hidden laxatives. Ingredients such as aloe, cascara, chinese rhubarb, and of course senna are often addictive and are simply cleansing what was eaten over the past few days and not cellular detox.  Nutrition World is very aware of this issue and is devoted to honest education when speaking to customers on this issue. I encourage anyone considering detox products to be an informed consumer. 

Three steps to finding an effective and healthy detox method:

My first recommendation for reducing the toxic load within our cells is fasting. I find intermittent fasting five days a week by eating within an 8 to 10 hour window and not eating the remainder of the day and night is very effective for everyone.  This offers benefits regarding weight loss, insulin balancing, sleep, optimizing glucose levels, and improving brain function.  

Sweating is option number two. Toxins are generally located within the fatty cells and increasing body temperature releases the toxins. I prefer a dry heat sauna for 30 minutes several times a week.  Of course sweating of any kind will be of benefit regardless of how it is done.  

The third option is the consideration of taking nutraceutical and botanical supplements in the form of a detox plan. No one ingredient will accomplish this goal which is why I have three methods of supplementation with natural remedies that further accelerate the process of optimal cleansing. It’s no secret that CBD gummies are everywhere these days. Still, many people are hesitant to use gummies in place of a standard CBD oil tincture. 3 Quarantine Nutrition Hacks

Are your clothes fitting more tightly on you than what you are comfortable with these days? If you indulged in “The Quarantine Diet” of added sugar, refined carbohydrates and more sugar, you are not alone. There isn’t a person on the planet who hasn’t been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in some way. There are memes about Zoom meetings in pajamas. We’ve seen the jokes about annoyed pets who are ready for their owners to get back into the office. The most popular subject…drum roll, please… has been COVID weight gain, or “The Quarantine 15.” With some of us gaining upwards of 10 to 15 pounds at this point, these particular memes aren’t quite so funny anymore.

While some things are more difficult to control, like job loss, financial dips or getting sick, take advantage of the variables you do have control over. One of the easiest things you can master right now is your nutritional health. Making healthier food choices is more important than ever as we are collectively less active these days. Many places in the U.S. still have closed gyms and workout facilities, and home workouts aren’t for everyone. That leaves a lot of us with a perfect storm of weight gain, too little movement and too much snacking at home.

Life has disrupted us in a major way, and yet, there are still things we can do to reverse some of the damage. At 360 Magazine, we have rounded up 3 strategies from Los Angeles Nutrition Coach Natasha Maxwell to help get you back on track if the quarantine weight gain has claimed you as a victim. Nobody knows when COVID-19 lockdowns will end. If this is going to be the “new normal,” you will have to reincorporate the healthy habits from your old life into this new one. How to Reclaim Your Body during Quarantine:

  1. Drink More Water!: This one is often overlooked as a weight management tool although it is as equally as important as the food choices we make. According to Natasha, “As a nutrition coach, I cannot express the number of times I encounter new clients who scoff at the amount of water I suggest. That number should be at least half of your body weight; in the summer I recommend upwards of 100 ounces. Yes, that’s right, 100 ounces minimum. The lack of sufficient water is harmful to your body and can affect it in a number of ways including salty food cravings, waste buildup and digestion problems. That waste buildup can mimic true weight gain, also known as “water weight”. Bloating from dehydration is no fun either and is likely the reason that it’s sometimes hard to button your pants.” As Natasha stated: Drink your water, please!
  2. Be mindful of your sugar intake this summer!: What comes to mind when you envision summertime treats? Maybe it’s popsicles, banana pudding or key lime pie. These are all fine in moderation, but too much sugar can lead to weight gain and excess puffiness. For those looking to lose weight from our extended stay indoors, we will have to keep track of our sugar intake, even when lounging happily by the pool. Some ways around overindulging in sweets include substituting fruits for other sweets, avoiding sodas and packaged fruit juice and being more mindful of limiting foods with labels listing corn syrup, glucose, sucrose, etc.
  3.  Seek out new and healthier recipes!: The likelihood of entertaining guests during summer or being invited to someone else’s party or backyard BBQ is relatively high. Either way, food will be high on the list of priorities. Think produce, lean meats and fewer refined snacks when debating over a menu. Natasha especially urges the consumption of produce. Fresh vegetables and fruit are higher in water content, and an ample water supply can come in handy when you’re feeling a little dehydrated from the heat! Sliced cucumbers and carrots with a homemade dip are a win. Seafood and lean poultry options on the grill with veggies are also a great combo. For plant-based options, think stuffed pepper recipes, veggie hummus wraps and rainbow-colored salads with incredible ingredients and flavor. Who said healthy recipes can’t be tasty, too?

This pandemic is stressful and has affected us in a multitude of ways. Emotional eating is understandable, given our current circumstances. We don’t have to be rigid around everything we eat, but being more aware of what we are indulging in and how often is the key to weight maintenance and weight loss. Make a plan for your nutritional habits and find the balance that works best for you. We wish you luck!

How To Identify A Rolex Watch

The vast majority of people are unable to tell a genuine Rolex watch from a fake one. This is a critical feature whenever products with a significant market value are concerned.

Magnifying A Rolex Watch

Many Rolex watches feature a calendar within the quadrant (usually near the 3). In order to warrant the optimal working of every element, this calendar is small and, in order to read it correct, genuine Rolex models feature a 2.5x magnifying glass (called a Cyclops). Fake Rolex models usually feature no lens, mount a smaller lens, or have a simple, non-magnifying, glass element.

It often happens that fake Rolex models weigh less than the genuine ones. This is because genuine Rolex models are created with materials of the highest quality having a greater weight.

Water Test

Rolex watch models are watertight and fully hermetic. They can resist being immersed in water for a few seconds. Usually, fake Rolex models do not have this feature, and this allows water to seep in. Specific Rolex models, like the Submariner, have been specifically created for deeb scuba diving.

Besides some very rare models, many produced during the 1930s, the rear of a Rolex watch case is never made of glass, crystal, or plastics. Therefore, they are not see-through. Many producers of fake Rolex watch models usually make the rear of their watch case of transparent materials, in order to cheat buyers by showing them the “precision” of the inner gears.

Furthermore, genuine Rolex watch models feature engraving within its watch cases rather than in the rear.

Hands of Rolex Watches

The gears of Rolex watches have a fluid movement, and their hands do not spring nor move irregularly. Even the ticking of a Rolex watch is both fluid and constant, being very homogeneous in nature. This does not happen with fake Rolex models, as they have an evident and irregular ticking instead.

Rolex watches are a symbol of luxury and elegance. As a result, they are subject to significant faking and forgeries. The differences between genuine and fake models are not so evident. The presence of more shoddy elements may be detected by carefully examining a watch when it is a fake, but only acutal experts are able to ascertain the authenticity of any given Rolex watch model.

NON-SURGICAL BALLOON WEIGHT LOSS METHOD

Americans spend almost 60 billion dollars annually in pursuit of weight loss with gastric bypass surgery being the most common type of weight-loss surgery; an option that isn’t for everyone. With the help of model and TV personality Khloé Kardashian, author of the New York Times bestselling book “Strong Looks Better Naked,” and her team of fitness, style and beauty experts, participants get the individualized help and encouragement to transform into the person they always dreamed of becoming inside and out.

This season, 17 men and women commit to a physically and emotionally challenging journey to prove to themselves and those who have been negative forces in their lives that they’re worthy of love and respect. People from all walks of life confront their past, present, and future and reveal what has brought them to this pivotal point in their lives. Whether these men and women have experienced bullying, are trying to mend relationships, or facing any other tough challenges, Khloé – who has overcome her own body issues – is there to help and will meet and check in with the participants throughout their entire process.

Khloé personally gets to know them, finds out what has broken them down, and gives them the tools they need to build themselves back up. From an honorably discharged military veteran struggling with the loss of his identity to newlyweds who want to get healthy before starting a family, each episode will feature everyday people tackling what’s holding them back from being the best they can be. However, even with the best intentions, not every journey is smooth, and not everyone makes it across the finish line.

Gunnar Peterson: Gunnar is a Beverly Hills-based personal trainer whose clients include celebrities, professional athletes, and everyday people. His “do it right or do it over” approach to fitness focuses on achieving long-term results through challenging and constantly varied workouts.

 Harley Pasternak: A seven-time bestselling nutrition and fitness author and former military exercise scientist, Harley boasts one of the biggest celebrity rosters in the business and has clients follow the “Body Reset Diet” to get lean and stay lean. 

 Simone De La Rue: Simone is one of Hollywood’s hottest celebrity trainers. Her clients include Oscar® and Grammy® winners, super models and yummy mummies. She is the creator of Body By Simone with three studios on the east and west coast, she is also author of the “Eight-Week Total Body Transformation.” 

Corey Calliet: Corey’s cutting-edge training style, known as “The Calliet Way,” pulls from athletic strength and conditioning techniques and professional bodybuilding fundamentals. With the desire to make his clients look amazing, his no-nonsense, and no turning back method has proven results with his A-list clients.

Latreal Mitchell: Latreal is one of the top celebrity fitness trainers in the industry. Her tough love approach to her fitness methodology yields chiseled and sculpted bodies.  

Luke Milton: A former professional rugby player from Australia, Luke is a huge advocate of living a healthy lifestyle and having a laugh with your mates to get the most out of your workout. His fitness studio, Training Mate, is an extension of that positive team environment where he helps his clients achieve a healthy lifestyle through physical, social and mental health. 

Lacey Stone: Creator of “The Stone Method” and “8 Weeks to Change,” Lacey is focused on invoking a real lifestyle change for her clients. Fitness therapy is what she calls it, starting in the mind, down to their social environment, ensuring her clients are prepared and ready for the physical change. She says if the mindset isn’t right, the lifestyle change will never happen.
