SEINABO SEY: “I OWE YOU NOTHING”

LISTEN AND SHARE HERE

Seinabo Sey has announced her new single, I Owe You Nothing and accompanying B-side, Remember ft. Jacob Banks. Released today by Virgin Records, both are now available to download and stream on all platforms. This announcement marks Seinabo’s first new music in over two years ߝ since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album Pretend in 2015. The video for I Owe You Nothing premieres today via The FADER.She has once again teamed up with close friend and producer MagnusTheMagnus (aka Magnus Lideh) and previous collaborators Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir as well as her friend Isak Alverus. The result is a defiant and rousing brand of soulful, relentlessly catchy multi-genre pop.

The new music sees Seinabo crafting songs revolving around the issues she has been vocal about on social media and in her enchanting live performances: womanhood and feminism, identity, body positivity and an adherence to loving yourself.

Pushing her art to the next level, Seinabo has taken much of the creative direction for the new record into her own hands, spending the past few months in Gambia (her father’s home country) to film music videos and shoot a plethora of new images that encompass her new direction. In the I Owe You Nothing video, she blends the rich, bright colors of local fabrics with confidence that is evident throughout. She explains, I figured it’s time I stand up for myself and this is my best way of doing that.

Seinabo rose to critical acclaim in 2015 following the release of two EPs and her debut album Pretend, which TIME magazine called; One of the Year’s Best Debut Albums and SPIN named one of the Best Albums of 2015. Certified Gold in Sweden, Pretend earned her a 2015 Swedish Grammy Award for Best Newcomer and Best Pop award the following year.

The boundary-blurring artist has topped the HypeMachine chart five times and racked up more than 400 million global Spotify streams to date, including at least 250 million for the albumߣs lead single, Younger. Kygo’s remix of Younger climbed to No. 1 on Billboardߣs Hot Dance Club Play chart. Seinabo spent three years touring the globe in support of the album, stunning audiences with her expressive, soulful voice. She has played festivals such as Way Out West, Glastonbury and Roskilde. Her television performances include Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Later with Jools Holland.

Seinabo will be releasing more music this year and will perform at Stockholm’s 12,000-capacity Globe Arena on Friday, October 5.

Rules that Concert goers Need to Live By

By Emily John

Music is one of the ways that a person may relieve stress after a long day at work. For some, being able to go see their favorite acts live and in concert is important. The first step to achieving this is finding concert tickets for the acts you want to see. You will have to act quickly to get good seats, which means you will need to take advantage of things like presales. Here are some of the rules that you will need to get familiar with as a concertgoer in order to ensure you have a great time.

1. Review the Band’s Previous Performances
One of the best ways to find out whether or not you want to go see a band live is by reviewing their previous performances. Usually, there will be more than a couple videos on YouTube that you will be able to look over. You will also need to look at their stylist from the previous shows to see if they are playing the songs that you want to hear. By taking the time to do this type of research, you will be able to figure out whether or not it is worth your money to get tickets.
Going on a streaming service like Spotify is a great way to get a look at a band’s complete catalog. Taking the time to listen to all of this music will be worth it. If you are well-versed in a particular band’s music, you will be able to derive much more enjoyment from the concert.

2. Mingling is Great
The next thing that you will need to do in order to have a great concert experience is to get to know your fellow music lovers at the show. In most cases, you will be able to find fan groups on the internet that will allow you to hook up with different people at the show. This is a great way for you to make new friends that are interested in some of the same stuff that you are. Taking the time to get to know some of these people will be worth it when you are able to enjoy the show even more.
Usually, you will be able to find a variety of Facebook groups that are dedicated to the fans of a particular act. Getting in one of these groups is a great way to figure out who will be at the concert and whether or not they are meeting up with other fans before the show. Meeting some new people will make the concert going experience much more enjoyable.

3. Be in the Moment
Among the biggest mistakes that a concert goer will make is trying to film the whole show or take pictures all throughout. The last thing that you want to do is to take away from this experience by trying to play videographer. You need to just enjoy the music and the band that you have come to see. By doing this, you will be able to have a much better experience and will make memories along the way that will last a lifetime.

4. Don’t Forget About Merch
One of the most enjoyable parts of going to a music concert is being able to get the merchandise the band has for sale. Typical this merchandise will not be available anywhere else. Rather than being unable to buy anything due to a lack of preparation, you should make a budget beforehand. Getting an idea of how much you can spend before the concert can help you avoid stress. If you are lucky, you may be able to get a member of the band you are seeing to sign the merchandise you have purchased.
Taking the time to plot out your concert experience will alleviate some of the stress that you may feel in this type of situation.

20th Anniversary of Fatboy Slim’s Album

Today, Astralwerks released the 20th anniversary reissue of Fatboy Slimߣs Youߣve Come a Long Way, Baby. This seminal album effectively ushered in the electronic era in America. Originally released on October 20 by Astralwerks, Youߣve Come a Long Way, Baby was the first album by a DJ to sell one million units and achieve Platinum certification in the U.S. The reissue is available for purchase via Amazon and Vinyl Me Please. A limited-edition blue vinyl with coffee splatter color variant is also available for purchase exclusively at Vinyl Me Please and is strictly limited to 2,000 copies worldwide.

2018 marks twenty years since the release of the album that spawned era-defining singles Rockafeller Skank, Gangster Trippin, Praise You and Right Here Right Now. Youߣve Come a Long Way Baby reached Number One in the UK album album charts, breaking the US Billboard Top 40, creating a global superstar and putting a new wave of UK dance music on the global map.

First released in 1998, Youߣve Come a Long Way Baby become one of the defining records of the 90s, irrespective of genre. Swinging from hip-hop, to reggae and jangle pop, with Youߣve Come a Long Way Baby, Norman Cook broke stylistic ground and delivered a wildly original album, filled with imagination, huge hooks and even bigger beats.

Bigger than being just a dance album, Youߣve Come a Long Way Baby was a genuine phenomenon, enjoying huge critical and commercial success; it contains 4 UK Top 10 singles, earning Cook a BRIT Award for best producer and two further nominations (Male Solo Artist and British Single) along the way. Embraced by the rock and pop press equally, the album was included in a Q magazine readers’ poll of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever,Éd; and provided a global breakthrough for both British dance music and the Big Beat sound. Singles Rockafeller Skank, Gangster Trippin and anthemic UK Number One single Praise You (which scored 3 MTV VMA awards with its iconic Spike Jonze directed video) pushed dance music into the stratosphere, resonating with music fans and breaking electronic music to middle America. Norman Cook had caught lightning in a bottle, and in one genre-defining moment, the seeds of the noughties EDM US boom were sown, paving the way for the next generation of global superstars.

Fast forward twenty years and Fatboy Slim remains one of the most groundbreaking and prolific of the original Superstar DJs. Over the past eighteen months alone – as well as launching his own Beat 1 show and playing back to back with Eats Everything – he has played stages as diverse as Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, his first Ibiza residency at Cream Amnesia, B2B with Eats Everything and in December of this year, headlined The O2 – essentially turning the 20,000 capacity venue into the biggest nightclub London has ever seen.

LONELY SOUL CLOTHING

In 2017, Lonely Soul Clothing [LSC], a unisex collection, was launched. Their brand’s inspiration incorporates the designs from horror movie posters and classic tattoos. As a kid, the founder’s father allowed him to watch horror films during weekend stays. He was heavily tattooed; and hence, created his interest in body art. Regrettably, his father passed away when he was only nine years of age. Years afterward, he received his first tattoo.

Currently, LSC sponsors a boxing club called unit85boxing on Instagram. They’re exceedingly passionate about providing young people with a positive outlet rather than roaming the streets and getting into trouble.

In the close future, Lonely Soul Clothing plans to partner with tattoo conventions as well as small rock festivals around the UK. Their ultimate goal is to be sold in stores.
