 COLLECTION OF ROYAL INTERIOR

Dreweatts is delighted to declare open, from tomorrow, the long-awaited public viewing of the private collection of King Charles III’s interior decorator and the man known the world over as a ‘titan of design’, a polymath, and the ‘great assembler’ of beautiful things, Robert Kime (1946-2022). The three-day auction will take place next week on October 4th, 5th & 6th, 2023 and is a celebration of the most respected and loved decorator of his generation. The sale will offer the opportunity to obtain works from Robert’s very own personal collection, which he meticulously amassed over his lifetime, through his travels around the country houses of the UK, to Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

Robert’s fascination with objects grew from his childhood; he was collecting and selling antiques even as an undergraduate. His passion and broad knowledge encompassed Middle Eastern art, including textiles and antiquities, European antiquities, modern art, ceramics, gardening, architecture and interesting objects from around the world.

This intellectual engagement created wonderfully varied, fascinating and comfortable interiors filled with the exotic and every day. King Charles III said of his unique aesthetic sensibility: ‘’You often hear of people who are said to have ‘a good eye’, but Robert Kime’s must surely be one of the best’’

This ‘eye’ and academic rigour drew the Royal Family and collectors from around the world to ask for his help in designing their homes and building their collections. Despite this he was unpretentious and believed in creating comfortable, homely interiors, whether a small cottage, palace, flat or country estate. It was this keen eye that enabled him to alter a room, not just by adding decoration in the form of textiles and harmonious pieces, but in his own words he was an ‘assembler’, who could create a ‘lived in’ look, to even a newly refurbished room, as if it had always been that way. He cleverly combined a sense of history with a fresh approach in designing their homes and building their collections.

The collection, which has been laid out in recreated rooms from Robert’s homes in London and Provence, are on display at Dreweatts stunning Berkshire salerooms ‘Donnington Priory’ in Newbury. The rooms housing his collection give us a close-up view of Robert’s passions and show the man through his objects. His collection includes furniture, rugs and textiles, books, art works and ceramics to one-off stand-out pieces that had a personal meaning to Robert.

Combatting Nausea: Natural Remedies and Methods to Try

Most people experience nausea at some point. Sometimes, there is a direct cause for nausea such as sea sickness, illness, or food poisoning. Women frequently experience nausea during menstruation or pregnancy.

In some cases, people can experience severe or chronic nausea. This can interfere with their everyday lives. When this happens, it becomes hard to work and concentrate.

There is medication for nausea, but this should be a last resort. Prescription medication can have side effects and usually doesn’t treat the root cause. Here are some natural ways you can treat nausea.

  1. Peppermint

There’s a reason they hand out mints after meals.

It’s because mint helps your body digest food. If you are unable to digest food properly, your stomach will be upset.

After eating this usually results in feeling bloated and full. But it could make you nauseous, especially if you ate something bad.

A cup of peppermint tea is a great way to settle your stomach after a heavy meal. Even if you haven’t had a lot to eat, peppermint can settle your stomach. If you don’t want tea, just eat some mints.

Mints usually don’t have any calories. Another option is to chew sugar-free mint gum. This will help ease stomach pain as well.

Other ingredients that settle the stomach are lavender, chamomile, ginger, and fennel. Find these herbs at your local tea shop or look for a tea that contains all of these ingredients.

Hot tea is the best option, but iced helps as well.

  1. Cannabis

Stress is a common cause of nausea.

Stress can refer to mental as well as physical stress. Mental health issues such as depression and anxiety can also cause nausea.

Cannabis can help settle your stomach as well as treat the root cause. While nausea itself usually isn’t a condition that qualifies you for a medical marijuana card, there are related issues that do.

Here is an article with information on qualifying conditions for a medical marijuana card in Ohio. Other states have different conditions. Thankfully, the legislation in most states is loosening when it comes to medical marijuana.

When purchasing marijuana, it’s always important to buy from a licensed dispensary. It’s the only way you can control the quality of the product.

Buying from somewhere else could only make your nausea worse, and that’s the last thing that you want to have happen.

Certain cannabis strains are better for treating nausea than others.

  1. Sleep

Sleep directly impacts your gut health.

Disrupted sleep patterns will affect your appetite. It will also affect your mealtimes. Eating a lot at night is not good for your stomach.

Most people need at least eight hours of sleep a night. A solid nine hours is actually ideal. Don’t think of yourself as lazy for sleeping so long.

If you sleep well, you will be more efficient and productive. Your stomach will thank you for the rest as well.

When you start feeling nauseous, lie down for a bit. It could be your body’s way of telling you that it’s time for a nap.

  1. Yoga

Your stomach needs to be stretched out like any other muscle.

Yoga will help your stomach relax. Here is a list of yoga poses that will help ease your nausea.

Regular yoga practice will strengthen your stomach. Once you’re already feeling nauseous, you probably won’t feel like doing yoga.

When this happens, choose easier poses. Some yoga can even be done lying down. And if it’s too painful, just focus on taking deep breaths.

Practicing yoga before you go to bed will help you sleep better, too.

  1. Water

Dehydration is a common cause of nausea.

Many people suffer dehydration without ever knowing it. They usually think that their symptoms are caused by something else.

But the culprit is usually water. You should be drinking at least two liters of water every day. If you exercise or live in extreme heat, you need more.

Water is not the only way to hydrate your body. Without a healthy diet, there is no way your body can absorb water.

Eating fruits and vegetables will help increase your liquid intake.

Conclusion

Nausea is a pain, no matter what the cause. But with these natural remedies, hopefully, the pain will go away.

7 Things That Set Diamond Rings Apart from Other Engagement Rings

Jewelry has been a symbol of expression and elegance since time immemorial. Despite changing trends and perceptions, there is still much value placed on “real” jewelry. Premium brands like Gucci are still launching their own campaigns as artists create new collections.

What to Know About Diamonds

Diamonds are one of the most valuable and tantalizing gems you can mine. Through the years, they have retained their value because of their rarity and refinement. The way these gems are formed is through the intense crystallization of carbon atoms deep within the crust of the Earth. From there, these structures form Kimberlite, from which the diamonds we know are mined through alluvial, pipe, or marine methods.

Diamonds are the Toughest Gem

Diamonds have supreme durability and toughness, making them extremely hard to shatter. Although they are not infinitely indestructible, it would take great lengths to break or even damage a quality diamond. They even rank at the highest level of the Mohs hardness scale, so normal force would hardly even scratch the surface. While other gems of high caliber are delicate and hard to care for, diamonds remain resilient despite their elegant appearance.

Diamonds Have More Longevity

Aside from having a naturally longer lifespan in terms of durability, they are also timeless in their looks. From the royals of 15th-century Europe to the glamazons of the Golden era of Hollywood and trickling all the way to today’s jewelry lovers, diamonds never get old. They are not only status symbols that transcend passing fads, but they also don’t fade over time regardless of how long you’ve owned your diamond ring.

Diamonds are Uncomparably Brilliant

If you’re looking for high-quality jewelry, you can’t go wrong basing your criteria on brilliance. Few gems are able to match that of a diamond, which is able to reflect back light superbly from within the gem. This rings especially true for high-grade diamonds that are completely devoid of blemishes and coloration to the naked eye. While moissanite is technically sparklier than a diamond, it is less valuable and strong.

<h2>4. Diamonds are the Only Single-Element Gem</h2>

Already being exquisite delights, what makes diamonds even more unique is the fact that they form purely out of carbon. While other gems are made up of a mixture of elements, the diamond is the only one out of hundreds of different gemstones. As such, naturally occurring diamonds are actually considerably rare (hence their price.)

Diamonds Have Rigorous Certification

When you buy a diamond engagement ring online, you can actually check the certification that comes with the gem or ring. This not only ensures that you are buying the real deal but also lets you know about the exact quality of your diamond. The classification of your diamond will usually be divided into clarity, cut, color, and carat. This is determined by rigorous methods, earning each diamond its certificate after quality grading.

<h2>6. Diamonds Match Everything</h2>

Whether it’s for a proposal or simply as a fine piece of jewelry, getting a diamond ring has the added benefit of being perfect for practically any look. It doesn’t clash with other patterns or colors, simply complementing any design from casual to black tie. Regardless of what outfit or palette the wearer prefers, a good diamond ring will work as a gorgeous highlight to the overall look.

Flawless Diamonds Carry Over Better Value

When buying jewelry, it’s best to know that you lose value. Regardless of what gem it is, you immediately get depreciation the minute you purchase it. Hence, many people find metals to be a better ‘investment’ than precious gems in terms of resale value. Still, high-grade diamonds retain enough value and quality over time that they are still your best bet when it comes to gems.

In the long run, diamond rings are also a great investment if you want to pass on your jewelry to the next generation. This is why the luxury jewelry market is still expanding globally despite rising international economic challenges. Decades from now, diamonds will still be the cream of the crop.

Bottom Line

Because of all these factors, diamonds truly remain unmatched in the world of precious gems. Their immeasurable luster keeps them adorned on the necks of the brightest stars, even becoming highlights of stunning red carpet moments

What is a 51% attack on a Blockchain?

Let’s know about it

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology stand out due to their decentralization, which leads to networks that are not under any central authority’s control. These networks function through a decentralized system of computers working collectively to authenticate transactions and ensure security. Even though blockchain networks are generally able to resist cyber attacks and malicious individuals, they are not entirely immune. A 51% attack is a type of attack that takes place when a sole entity is in control of the majority of the mining on a particular blockchain network. In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of what constitutes a 51% attack. If you are interested in bitcoin trading visit Immédiate Edge

About 51% Attack

A 51% attack is usually a scenario where one individual can take control of any blockchain network’s mining power, computer power and hash rate greater than 50%. An attack like this might have a variety of adverse impacts on the functioning of a blockchain and may let an assailant get control over numerous features of the blockchain. Nonetheless, a 51% attack wouldn’t permit an assailant to stop transactions from being generated or maybe reverse transactions by any system participant apart from themselves. It’s also not possible for an assailant to make use of a 51% attack to produce new coins like Bitcoin or even get control of tokens in a chain.

Meaning of Double Spending

Digital currencies come with a possibility that double spending isn’t. It happens whenever a blockchain system is altered and a piece of cryptocurrency may be used fraudulently at a lot more than once. You cannot spend the same $20 at a different shop if you purchase a product with a USD 20 note. When a 51% attack takes place, though, the miner who handles over half of the mining can regulate the transactions system, letting them double spend.

How does the process of mining operate?

Bitcoin and blockchain technology work using a decentralized method which assembles, safeguards and validates transaction details without the requirement of a central authority or third party. The Bitcoin blockchain is composed of more than 10,000 computer nodes (mining nodes) that work in concert to make sure that the Bitcoin process guidelines are adhered to and that everyone in the group in the system consent to the present condition.

This particular agreement, which is known as consensus, demands that all system participants concur with the present version of the Bitcoin application used, mining procedures and the way transactions are verified. For instance, the Bitcoin system utilizes a Proof of Work algorithm known as a consensus algorithm.

Miners gather transactions in this method and place them right into blocks which are included in the blockchain. To prevent fake blocks, a miner may just add a block whenever other nodes concur the miner has discovered the proper solution. Miners have to show they’ve put in a lot of effort to complete the transactions. This enables the Bitcoin blockchain self-control without the requirement for central power and also stops any one individual from taking over. A miner that attempts to post a fake block is rejected.

Is it easy to execute 51% attacks?

For maintenance and security, a blockchain network depends upon numerous nodes. The greater number of nodes you have, the more difficult it is to attack the network. Much more powerful miners have a higher possibility of completing puzzles and obtaining rewards. As the blockchain expands, it is going to become tougher to reverse the actions. As each block is associated with the prior blocks, it’s virtually impossible to alter it. Smaller networks can be susceptible to 51% attacks, particularly when they have a smaller computing power.

Image of man created a Mr. ZIP to promote zip codes in post offices

Mr. ZIP Turns 60

The ZIP Code was launched 60 years ago as part of a program of improvements to increase postal delivery speed.
At the time, Americans were already struggling to adapt to three-digit area codes for long-distance telephone calls, so promoting the five-digit ZIP (short for Zone Improvement Plan) Code was a tough sell. To help get the word out and encourage the widespread adoption of ZIP Codes, the Post Office Department enlisted the aid of an ad agency.

These efforts included:

  • Ethel Merman singing the virtues of ZIP Codes to the tune of “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”;
  • Public service announcements in newspapers, on radio and TV, and on buses and rapid transit;
  • “ZIP Code” — a catchy, kitschy 15-minute film starring the Swingin’ Six musical group — which won a silver medal at the 1966 International Film and TV Festival for explaining the rationale behind the code; and
  • Mr. ZIP, the new code’s mascot, which worked wonders in bringing it to public attention.

The full-court press paid off: By the end of the decade, the use of ZIP Codes had become established practice.

Today, the code has expanded to ZIP+4 and its uses have spread well beyond the Postal Service. Social scientists, businesses, demographers and others use the codes to interpret, organize and disseminate data.

The Postal Service continues making positive changes that benefit the American public and business customers.

The United States Postal Service released its Second-Year Progress Report on Delivering for America (DFA), the 10-year plan to return the organization to financial sustainability and achieve service excellence while maintaining universal six-day mail delivery and expanding seven-day package delivery.

The Delivering for America plan was published March 23, 2021, to transform the Postal Service from an organization in financial and operational crisis to one that is self-sustaining and high performing. In the first two years since, the Postal Service has aggressively advanced core DFA strategies and initiatives. While much work remains to be done to address the Postal Service’s financial and operational performance, DFA has already demonstrated that the path forward is achievable, and that the organization is working to be financially self-sustaining, high performing and provide excellent service to the nation.

As the Postal Service enters the third year of the Delivering for America plan, the organization continues its focus on improving service reliability for the American public and business customers by modernizing the outmoded and aging postal network across the nation, operational stabilization, and new competitive product offerings for our customers.
