Ariana Grande × The Voice

Multi-platinum global recording artist, Grammy Award winner, and talented actress Ariana Grande will join the upcoming Fall 2021 cycle of NBC’s “The Voice” as a coach.

Grande, a powerhouse vocalist whose international fan base of “Arianators” has enabled her to rapidly become one of the biggest pop superstars of our generation, will be joined by returning iconic coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton, along with host Carson Daly, on the four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series.

With her most recent album, “Positions,” recently breaking the record for most songs to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cementing her as Spotify’s most-streamed female artist of the past decade, Grande, a self-proclaimed fan of “The Voice,” claims a red chair at a pivotal point in her career.

“As an undeniable force in pop music, Ariana’s inimitable success in the music industry is extraordinary,” said Jenny Groom, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “We were thrilled to learn that she is a true fan of ‘The Voice’ and know that this enthusiasm will add to her impact as a dynamic coach. Ariana is a visionary with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Her unmatched vocal skills, creativity, and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists.”

Said Grande, “I’m so honored and excited to join ‘The Voice’ family! I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time. I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists, and help to take their craft to the next level.”

A Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and international superstar, Ariana Grande was the first artist to hold the top three Billboard Hot 100 spots since the Beatles in 1964 with “7 Rings,” “Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” and “Thank U, Next.” In 2020, she became the first and only artist to have five singles debuts at #1 in the chart’s history. At age 27, she has delivered five platinum-selling albums and surpassed 35 billion streams – she’s Spotify’s most-streamed female artist of the past decade – while rapidly becoming one of the biggest pop stars of our generation with her powerhouse vocals and unmatched presence both on stage and with her fans. She recently won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Rain on Me” with Lady Gaga.

Cryptocurrency × NTFs

Cryptocurrency × NTFs

In recent news, Tautachrome Inc. has announced its patent attorney’s opinion on the early applicability of its KlickZie patents. The KickZie application will enable users to capture images that are invisibly marked and verified as the original. The owner of the image or video will have the ability to use, sell, and monetize their images. A simple tap on the image will allow users to communicate with the image’s author or others currently viewing the image. The patent is among many in the market of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens).

Cryptocurrency Breakdown:

Understanding cryptocurrency can be a headache! It is best to research thoroughly before investing your hard-earned money into just any digital asset. Let’s start with the basics: what is cryptocurrency?  Crypto, crypto currency, or cryptocurrency is a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange where individual coin ownership records are stored in a ledger existing in a form of computerized databases using strong cryptography to secure transaction records, control the creation of additional coins, and to verify the transfer of coin ownership. Now, cryptocurrency does not exist in a physical form, like your wallet filled with dollar bills.

Crypto Coins – Altcoins: Tokens, cryptocurrencies, and other forms of digital assets that are NOT bitcoin are known as alternative cryptocurrencies.

A few examples:

  • Peercoin
  • Litecoin
  • Dogecoin
  • Auroracoin
  • Namecoin

Tokens: Created and given out through an Initial Coin Offering, or ICO – much like a stock offering. Crypto tokens are a blockchain account that can provide functions other than making payments. Tokens are usually issued within a smart contract running on top of a blockchain.

  • Value tokens (Bitcoins)
  • Security tokens (to protect your account(s))
  • Utility tokens (designated for specific uses)

What does it mean when a cryptocurrency forks?

Sometimes a cryptocurrency will ‘fork’ and yes, that does sound confusing. It can be broken down into Forks, Hard Forks, or Soft Forks. Forks can be classified as accidental or intentional. An accidental fork happens when two or more miners find a block at the same, or almost same, time. The fork is then resolved when subsequent blocks are added and one of the chains becomes longer than the alternative. The network then abandons the blocks that are not in the longer chain, then referred to as orphaned blocks.

Hard Fork: A hard fork happens if a protocol or rule is changed so that the old protocol version is no longer valid.

Soft Fork: A soft fork occurs when a protocol or rule is changed, and the old version accepts the new version; enabling it to continue working.

What exactly are NTFs?

A non-fungible token is a unit of data within a digital ledger called a blockchain. This is where each NFT can represent a unique digital item and are not interchangeable. A blockchain is a growing list of records (blocks), that are linked using cryptography. Each block has a cryptographic hash (a mathematical algorithm that maps data), a timestamp, and transaction data.

NFTs can be used to represent digital files such as audios, art, collectibles, sports, pornography, video games, and other forms of creative work. While copies can be made of these creative means, the NFTs representing the original are tracked on their underlying blockchains; therefore, providing the buyers with proof of originality and ownership.

In order to create an NFT, a file is uploaded to an NFT auction market. This creates a copy of the file recorded on the digital ledger as an NFT. This enables it to be bought with cryptocurrency and then resold. The artist can sell an NFT representing the work and still retain the copyright to the work as well as create more NFTs of the same file.

In addition, the buyer of the file does not gain exclusive access to the work or the original digital file. Unfortunately, a seller does not have to prove that they are the original artist either. There have been many cases where are was used for NFTs without the true artist’s permission.

Most Common Types of Cryptocurrency

Bitcoin: Invented in 2008 by a person or group using the name Satoshi Nakamoto. The currency began being used in 2009 when its implementation was released as open-source software. Bitcoin was the first decentralized cryptocurrency leading the way for many others in the years to come. Bitcoins were created as a reward for a process known as mining (record-keeping service done electronically). Bitcoins can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services.

Bitcoin Cash: A spin-off or altcoin of Bitcoin that was created in 2017 eventually splitting into two cryptocurrencies – Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV. Bitcoin Cash is one of the most popular types of cryptocurrency on the market and holds a block size of 8MB. To compare, Bitcoin’s block size is just a mere 1MB. This means Bitcoin Cash processes at faster speeds for its users.

Litecoin: A peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open-source software project released under the MIT/X11 license. Litecoin is nearly identical to Bitcoin. Created by Charlie Lee to improve on Bitcoin technology, with shorter transaction times, lower fees, and more concentrated miners. In May 2017, Litecoin became the first of the top 5 cryptocurrencies to adopt Segregated Witness – a soft fork implementation change in the transaction format of Bitcoin.

Ethereum: A decentralized, open-source blockchain with smart contract functionality developed by Vitalik Buterin. Ether (ETH) is the native cryptocurrency of the Ethereum platform. It is the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Ethereum is also the most actively used blockchain. It focuses on decentralized applications (phone apps) – almost like an app store. Ethereum looks to return control of apps to its original creators instead of the middlemen (like Apple, for instance). The token name is Ether, which is used as currency by app developers and users.

Ripple: A real-time gross settlement system, currency exchange, and remittance network created by Ripple Labs Inc.  Ripple was released in 2012 upon a distributed open-source protocol that supports tokens representing fiat currency, cryptocurrency, commodities, or other units of value (frequent flier miles, for example). Ripple is geared more towards large companies and corporations than it is for individual users. Ripple is well known for its digital protocol because it allows large amounts of money in any form to be transferred.

Markice Moore Q&A

By: Emily Bunn

The most sought-after ‘bad guy’: Markice Moore is a rising force to be reckoned with in Hollywood’s entertainment industry. Most notably recognized for his role as Ray Ray on the hit seriesSnowfall,” Moore is continuing to flesh out his acting resume with his upcoming involvement with 50 Cent’s show on Starz, “Black Mafia Family.” “Black Mafia Family” tales place in the late 1980s and is based on the story of two brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who had been involved in money laundering and drug trafficking schemes. We sat down with the rising star to discuss the relevance of “Black Mafia Family”’s themes in the present, Moore’s method acting experiences, upcoming music releases, and more.

Where were you when you received the call to join the cast of “Black Mafia Family”?

I was in Las Vegas at the craps table and I just lost $200. So when my manager called it was the best news ever!

What are you most excited about regarding your involvement in “Black Mafia Family”?

I’m most excited about working with 50 Cent again after working on “The Oath” with him for Crackle. His name rings bells in Hollywood now, so it’s an honor to be attached to his brand.

How do you feel about being popularly cast into roles as antagonists or villains?

Wow! I’m popularly casted! That’s kind of cool. I fucking love it! I love playing the bad guy, I mean, I think we all kind of relate to the bad guy. Some of us just don’t have the balls to do what he does, you know. To commit to antagonizing is a skill set.

What has been your favorite role you’ve ever played, and why?

Ryan Payne on The Paynes was my favorite character because he was so goofy and a nitwit. Even my mother called and told me, “You’re really acting now, Ryan is a dumb ass.”

Both “Snowfall” and “Black Mafia Family” revolve around crime and drugs in the 1980s. Can you speak on the relevance of these themes within the shows as still existing today?

Well if we may go a little deep, I believe it’s important to touch on these topics because our culture, African American culture, has been systematically targeted so heavily by oppressors using tactics like drugs and violence as conduits to control our narrative. It’s important that we take some of that power back and tell our sides of those stories. They use their mediums to paint a picture of us as only drug dealers, instead of humanizing us like they do their heroes.

How did your experience living in Atlanta compare to the experiences illustrated in your involvement with the film, “ATL”?

It was literally the same. At the time of filming I was hustling, bootlegging liquor, and playing with guns. My Austin character kept me out of trouble.

Following your 2020 release of “Nervous,” are you looking to put out any more music soon?

Yes. Absolutely. I am one half of a rap group called Pool Boys.  We are releasing more new music this summer. Right now, we have “Nervous,” “Cold,” and another record called Clubhouse that’s going crazy!

Are there any other upcoming acting projects you’re working on to come in 2021 that you can tell us about?

Yes! I have a production company called, “TABLE READ PRODUCTIONS” and we are working on a movie made by people in the clubhouse called, “Green Bean Me.” So, be on the lookout for that.

The Power of Forgiveness

Why Michelle Obama’s Prayers for Forgiveness in the Royal Family Matter for Everyone

By: Lorena Junco Margain

Michelle Obama recently made news again, this time saying, in an interview with Access Hollywood, that she “prays that there is forgiveness” between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and the Royal family.

As an advocate on a mission to promote forgiveness as a force for personal and universal change, I couldn’t agree more. In fact, Michelle Obama’s message of forgiveness is about far more than the Royals: the world at large should take it heart to heart. That’s because only forgiveness can truly heal people and relationships.

This is something I have experienced firsthand. Several years ago, just after my third child was born, I learned I had a tumor on my adrenal gland. Although not life threatening, the condition was serious and required surgery right away. Having long experienced unexplained symptoms of dizziness and lethargy that neither medications nor holistic or Ayurvedic treatments have helped, I was relieved by the news. It seemed there was finally a simple solution to helping me regain my joy and strength: surgery. I could hardly wait for it to take place.

But even surgeons can make mistakes, as I learned. After the procedure, I felt no better. In fact, my condition, including crushing fatigue, worsened. There were days when I could not get out of bed.

It took months of pain, anguish and continual medical appointments for me to discover that the surgeon had made a terrible, irreversible error. I now live with only one half of one adrenal gland, and must contend with a lifetime of medical issues.

My family’s immediate reaction was: let’s seek revenge. Let’s sue the surgeon for everything he’s worth. My friends agreed. But this thought brought me no comfort. On the contrary: the idea of devoting my precious energy to pursuing the negative force of revenge made me feel even more bitter and exhausted.  I realized it would not mend my broken body or soul.

So I chose instead to embark on a quest for peace and healing—beginning by seeking space in my heart to forgive. I write about this in my memoir On the Way to Casa Lotus.

True forgiveness, I have learned, heals us. It brings us back to peace and joy. This is why I echo Michelle Obama’s prayer for forgiveness between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Royal family.

But this is not just about individuals―it’s also about the world. Especially in these tense, divisive times the Royal family, Meghan and Harry are in a unique position to model forgiveness for all to emulate.

Here are some of the points about forgiveness that I encourage the Royal family, Meghan and Harry―and the world―to embrace:

●      If we refuse to forgive, we do so at our own peril for there will be no real peace or healing.

●      Forgiveness does not require us to make excuses for the person(s) who wronged us or to forget that wrong was done; it requires us to believe that they are still capable of good, that they still have value, that they have good intentions and the ability to learn and grow.

●      It’s okay to be angry, even within forgiveness, for forgiveness makes room for both rage and redemption.

●      Forgiveness must be sincere. Lip service will not mend or heal you.

●      Forgiveness is an ongoing process. You don’t just decide to forgive and then turn the page. That decision is more accurately called “denial.”

I am on a mission to share my story so that the world can begin to recognize the power and the benefits of forgiveness. Imagine how much impact a Royal display of forgiveness might have.

A wayward descendant of Mexico’s national hero, a femme fatale who recites poems in cantinas, a Tunisian prostitute in Barcelona, a Spanish psychiatrist who fights brave bulls, the wise owner of the world’s oldest restaurant. They are just a handful of the characters portrayed in VIDAS: Deep in Mexico and Spain, the first memoir to capture Mexico and Spain from the perspective of an American and the knowledge of an insider.

VIDAS explores subjects as diverse as the art of blasphemy, the cult of the Virgin Mary, superstition and witchcraft, the bordellos of Mexico, Spain’s paradise of drink and food, the bullfight, and the running of bulls in Pamplona, the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Every chapter of this vibrant travel memoir depicts a different person or place, which combined create a cross-section of the most populous Spanish-speaking countries in the New and Old World. VIDAS is a passage from childhood to adolescence and maturity, a tribute to nature and the open road, an exaltation of love, food, and wine, a journey from the tender, mortal flesh to the luminous world of the spirit.

DeMarcus Walker illustration by Heather Skovlund for 360 Magazine

Justice for DeMarcus Walker

DeMarcus Walker. Say his name. Say his name along with the other victims of the hate crimes that fill our society. Just over a year ago, Demarcus was going about his Saturday morning shopping just like many others. On March 7, 2020, at approximately 10:25 in the morning, Walker was run down with a Chevy Impala and then brutally beaten with a baseball bat.

DeMarcus Walker suffered life-threatening injuries and, unfortunately, was not able to pull through. He passed away April 11, 2020, from tracheal narrowing and cerebral edema and hemorrhage due to complications from blunt injuries of the head, which was noted in his autopsy. His death was ruled a homicide.

Zai’quaria Walker, DeMarcus Walker’s daughter, stated to NBC News Anchor Tom Powell “When it’s your family it’s a different kind of pain.” She desperately asked “Why that day? What was going through your head to do that then and there?”

Houston Walker, DeMarcus Walker’s father, commented during a news conference “I feel like it was a hate crime. It had to be. The way I understand in the paper, he was walking around Walmart with a ski mask on looking for people to beat up. That’s how I feel about it.”

Vaughn Lowery, President of 360 Magazine, states “Senseless violence has afflicted America throughout the weeks, and it seems that there is no end in sight. As a nation, we must unite and abandon this malevolent behavior. Once we recognize why the BIPOC and LGBTQ communities are under constant attack because they are intrinsically different, then we will begin to heal. At the end of the day, our legal system is not designed to protect them. In the case of DeMarcus Walker, justice must be served and the person who attempted to kill him must be held accountable according to the highest standards of the law. We can no longer allow malicious intent to pass unnoticed in our judicial system.”.

Police arrested 21-year-old Levi Arnold, who has recently pleaded guilty but mentally ill to charges of murder and resisting law enforcement for the cold-blooded crime he committed last year outside of the Apple Glen Walmart in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Arnold will be sentenced on April 16, 2021, and is facing 51 years in prison.

Hemp Gummies vs. CBD Gummies

What Are the Big Differences?

The sheer number of CBD gummies available in the market today would have been unimaginable even a few years ago. However, this increase in availability has also created a fair amount of confusion when figuring out what to buy.

One of the biggest confusions regarding gummies is the difference between CBD gummies and hemp gummies. They sound similar, but they can be significantly different.

So, what are the differences between them?

Hemp and CBD: Where Do They Come From?

It is sometimes tricky to identify hemp gummies. Australia is a country that, among others, doesn’t always these products easily identifiable.

This is because both CBD and hemp products come from the hemp plant. CBD itself is a cannabinoid found within hemp plants’ flowering buds, stalks, and stems, and it is present in varying quantities depending on the strain.

Hemp, however, is a less specific term, as it refers to the entire plant. Typically when a hemp product is advertised without mention of CBD, it’s made using hemp seed–an entirely different by-product. Some hemp products do contain CBD, but can’t simply advertise it as just a CBD product. This creates a lot of confusion surrounding hemp products.

What You Need to Keep a Watch out for When Buying Anything Called “Hemp”

As the CBD products’ market continues to grow, some companies have taken advantage of the lack of understanding around hemp-based products.

This is why it’s essential to be aware of exactly what you’re purchasing when buying CBD products, especially when they are labeled as “hemp.”

Manufacturers and retailers looking for easy money might be tempted to market various, cheaper hemp products and imply that they are made from CBD. This could include hemp seed oil, a food oil extracted from the seeds of hemp plants.

Through careful marketing and manipulation of search terms, retailers might suggest that their cheaper product contains some CBD oil, even though it doesn’t whatsoever.

The vital thing to do when looking for new CBD products is to ensure that careful attention is paid to both the ingredients list and any lab reports the company provides. Though not every retailer provides them, lab reports are vital in ensuring that the product’s ingredients are precisely what they say they are.

However, this doesn’t eliminate all of the confusion–why are some gummies named both? Why are there both hemp gummies and CBD gummies available at reputable sites like Premium Jane?

Why Hemp Gummies & CBD Gummies Both Exist

While it is generally true that some retailers will trick customers into believing that their hemp products contain CBD, sometimes these retailers are telling the truth.

This is primarily due to specific laws and requirements across different nations. Many countries, Australia being one example, have a strict requirement for advertising products related to cannabis. In these places, it is sometimes beneficial to only refer to their products as being “hemp gummies” rather than specifically mentioning the CBD concentration that they contain.

Partly to avoid legality issues, but also because of search terms, it is not unheard of to have all sorts of cannabis products be erroneously referred to as merely “hemp.”

Final Thoughts on Hemp Gummies vs. CBD Gummies: What Are the Big Differences?

It is pretty confusing when trying to shop for some CBD gummies to find that they have all sorts of different names with no clear explanation.

To make the whole experience easier, always do your due diligence and make sure you know what you are buying. Through trustworthy lab reports, independent website reviews, or just word of mouth, try to only shop at dependable, established brands.

While there are plenty of cheaper products available on unheard-of, mysterious websites, the best thing to do is to shop with the biggest, most trustworthy CBD retailers.

Timing Your CBD Gummy Ingestion

How Long Until CBD Gummies Kick In? And How Long Do They Last?

It’s no secret that CBD gummies are everywhere these days. Still, many people are hesitant to use gummies in place of a standard CBD oil tincture. One of the most significant factors that stop people from feeling comfortable with things like CBD gummies, is the lack of certainty about how long they take to kick in.

So, how long should it take before CBD gummies kick in, and how long can you expect them to last? Let’s take a look.

What Are CBD Gummies?

CBD gummies are a particularly interesting form of CBD because they are one of the few types that users directly ingest. While other forms of CBD involve direct absorption (i.e. sublingually or topically), CBD gummies are exposed to the digestive metabolic process. This can make it tough when it comes to figuring out how long gummies take to kick in.

How Long Until The CBD Gummies Kick In?

A whole host of different factors, from biological and genetic to environmental and dietary, impact the expected time it can take for CBD gummies to start working. A big factor is the fact that CBD gummies are imbibed orally by ingesting them. This means that their expected time to take effect can vary pretty drastically depending on when the user last ate.

More food sitting in their stomach waiting to digest means a longer wait before the effects are noticed. Furthermore, everyone has an individual rate of metabolism, which will control the rate that the CBD is absorbed.

Weight is another issue – CBD is fat-soluble, which means that it will tend to stick to fat molecules. Those that carry around a bit of extra weight might find that their CBD gummies take longer to take effect.

Finally, the actual CBD composition of the gummy plays a considerable role. Stronger CBD gummies will last longer, but their effects might take awhile to peak due to their prolific intensity.

How Long Will The CBD Gummy Last?

The rate that CBD lasts in the human body is dependent on its half-life, which is how long the body takes to work through half of the concentration of CBD. Unfortunately, the exact half-life of CBD has not yet been accurately pinpointed. Some studies shows that it can vary considerably based on the method of consumption.

On average, the half-life of CBD seems to be between 10 hours and 24 hours, though this is again entirely based on the method of consumption.
