Ariana Grande × The Voice

Multi-platinum global recording artist, Grammy Award winner, and talented actress Ariana Grande will join the upcoming Fall 2021 cycle of NBC’s “The Voice” as a coach.

Grande, a powerhouse vocalist whose international fan base of “Arianators” has enabled her to rapidly become one of the biggest pop superstars of our generation, will be joined by returning iconic coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton, along with host Carson Daly, on the four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series.

With her most recent album, “Positions,” recently breaking the record for most songs to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cementing her as Spotify’s most-streamed female artist of the past decade, Grande, a self-proclaimed fan of “The Voice,” claims a red chair at a pivotal point in her career.

“As an undeniable force in pop music, Ariana’s inimitable success in the music industry is extraordinary,” said Jenny Groom, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “We were thrilled to learn that she is a true fan of ‘The Voice’ and know that this enthusiasm will add to her impact as a dynamic coach. Ariana is a visionary with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Her unmatched vocal skills, creativity, and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists.”

Said Grande, “I’m so honored and excited to join ‘The Voice’ family! I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time. I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists, and help to take their craft to the next level.”

A Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and international superstar, Ariana Grande was the first artist to hold the top three Billboard Hot 100 spots since the Beatles in 1964 with “7 Rings,” “Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” and “Thank U, Next.” In 2020, she became the first and only artist to have five singles debuts at #1 in the chart’s history. At age 27, she has delivered five platinum-selling albums and surpassed 35 billion streams – she’s Spotify’s most-streamed female artist of the past decade – while rapidly becoming one of the biggest pop stars of our generation with her powerhouse vocals and unmatched presence both on stage and with her fans. She recently won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Rain on Me” with Lady Gaga.

The Battle Rounds for Season 20 of “The Voice,” with current coaches Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend, and Blake Shelton, continue Monday, April 5 and April 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

For the 2020-21 season-to-date, “The Voice” is the #1 alternative series among total viewers. The show has ranked among the top 5 most-watched alternative series for each of its 11 broadcast seasons on the air.

Season 20 marks the 10-year anniversary of “The Voice.”

“The Voice” is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as an executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson, and Adam H. Sher.

NJOMZA – Lucky

The Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter NJOMZA returns with the tender new single and video Lucky, out now on SinceThe80s/Motown. Listen HERE. The track, built around gospel guitar chords and NJOMZA’s ascendant vocals, is a warm, soul-inflected reminder to hold your loved ones close. She sounds lost and lonely at first, but as the song unfolds, it builds to a kindhearted climax, repeating insistently, “If you love someone let them know.”

Lucky arrives accompanied by a black-and-white video directed by Griffin Olis and NJOMZA. The visual intertwines dreamlike snippets of home-video footage with shots of her laying in the sand. It’s a stirring document of memory and loss, underscoring the songߣs message to not take anything or anyone for granted. Watch it HERE.

For NJOMZA, Lucky is only the latest in a long run of captivating pop songs. In April, she released the gauzy, sensual single Bite, which has garnered over 2.5 million total streams. Over the last few years, sheߣs drawn both critical acclaim and commercial success for her work with Mac Miller who signed her to his REMember Music label when she was a teen and Ariana Grande, with whom she’s co-written hits like 7 Rings and Thank U, Next.

All the while, she’s been twisting up R&B and pop signifiers on her own songs, on singles like 2019’s No One Is Spared and EPs like 2017’s Sad For You and 2018’s Vacation. People are listening too. Over the years, her tracks have racked up over 50 million global streams. As she gears up to release more new music in 2021, Lucky is a winning reminder of what drew people to her in the first place: the emotion and care she’s able to pack into her memorable melodies.

Today, Sam Smith & Normaniunveiled the video for their hit single, “Dancing With A Stranger.” Directed by Vaughan Arnell (James Blunt, George Michael), the clip was shot in London. Moving through a sleek, stark home, each artist confronts the empty feeling that follows a break-up and the impulse to fill the void with ephemeral connections. View “Dancing With A Stranger” HERE.

Released earlier this month by Capitol Records, “Dancing With A Stranger” has already racked up over 80 million cumulative streams worldwide. Hailing it as a “Song You Need to Know,” Rolling Stone described it as “deliciously retro” and noted, “Their soulful, understated delivery suggests a moody narrative of two people looking to get an ex off their mind, falling into the arms of someone exciting, nameless and new. Calling it “one of the first genuinely great songs of 2019.” Idolator noted, “they expertly capture the frustration and loneliness of heartbreak, bottling it and presenting it as something both deeply personal and infinitely relatable.” Out said “Dancing With A Stranger” is “a Perfect Breakup Anthem.” Entertainment Weekly observed, “Sam Smith and Normani have teamed up to soundtrack your weekend festivities.” Billboard said, “They’re a smouldering combo, and they’ve delivered something fiery with “Dancing With A Stranger.”

“Dancing With A Stranger” is the first new music from Smith in 2019 and follows his summer 2018 global hit with Calvin Harris, “Promises.” Smith will perform with Harris on February 20 at the BRIT Awards, which will be live streamed on YouTube. Already a three-time BRIT winner, Smith is nominated in the British Male Solo Artist category this year. He has won four GRAMMY awards, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, three Billboard Music Awards, a BET Award and six MOBO Awards, among others.

Since the release of his 2014 debut album, In The Lonely Hour, Smith has sold over 20 million album equivalent units worldwide. His sophomore album, The Thrill Of It All, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard200 and also topped the charts in the U.K, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and Belgium. Rolling Stone awarded The Thrill Of It All four stars and hailed Smith as “one of the mightiest, most expressive singers of his generation.”

Normani launched her solo career last year with her debut solo single “Love Lies” with Khalid. “Love Lies” soared to #1 at Top 40 Radio and went double platinum in the U.S. “Love Lies” was the first single Normani released following her global success with multi-platinum group Fifth Harmony. Since then, she has gone on to release a number of new tracks including two songs with Calvin Harris and her recent single, “Waves” feat.6LACK. Normani has also recently collaborated with Quavo and Kehlani. She is currently working on her debut solo album. This March will see her join Ariana Grande on the North American leg of The Sweetener World tour.
