GUCCI ATTACHE

Gucci Attache, the house’s latest bag style. The Attache Bag is characterized by an adaptable “G” clasp at the bottom of the strap which transforms the silhouette into a stunning half moon shape. This style draws upon a playful 1970s aesthetic and reaffirms the house’s ongoing efforts in gender inclusivity, offering eight distinct unisex styles.

A piece of contemporary design created from the awareness of a modern attitude and of the intentional revival of a historical object from the archive: Gucci Attache is a bag that reinterprets tradition and the system of House codes while transporting a silhouette, which draws from an intuition and an attitude of the 1970s, into the present through a narrative and gesturality outside the confines of gender, feminine or masculine.

Attache, like the French word for “hook,” like the geometry with which, through the power of symbols, can be defined as onomatopoeic because it closes onto itself like a hook. Or like the metallic hook that attaches the two corners. Attache, therefore, is the bag that progresses from a half-moon design encompassed by the Web, distinguished by a metal G that opens and closes its silhouette.

Versatile as a symbol, in shape, and in volume, the Gucci Attache is presented as the essence of a very current attitude and gesturality. Both in its medium and small sizes and in the diverse ways it can be worn, either on the shoulder or across the body, the line presents that appeal that only objects with dual functions can have.

“I was fascinated by the bag after having laid upon it a casual and fleeting glance while I was in the archive… Immediately, a desire took shape to reinterpret it and include it in the Love Parade collection for the fashion show in Los Angeles because its silhouette, typical of the Seventies, projects a very modern attitude that convinced me to draw out an eclectic symbol that could express the idea of a dual function. It is its G-shaped clasp detail, with its mechanical origin, that makes it the joining link between a bourgeois spirit, typical of an object of this kind, and the functionality of the world of utility,” says Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Gucci.

With its interchangeable straps, in leather or the Web, that allow it to become both a shoulder bag and a handbag, the Gucci Attache is an item of design that is both transportable and ergonomic, living in contact with the body, a perfect silhouette to add to a hypothetical collection of objects of desire. In other words, of those wonderful, useful, inseparable objects that in the culture of contemporary living, have become bags.

The Gucci Attache is featured in a campaign that Art Director and photographer Max Siedentopf shot against a metropolitan backdrop, underlining the same symbols that form the meaning of this bag: references and perspectives that together, know how to create that glam-utility that is the expression of a culture of appearance and practicality. Two elements that create a desire for beauty.

Maharishi x Reebok

Reebok and London-based streetwear label Maharishi announce their first collaboration, bringing Maharishi’s military design ethos to Reebok’s heritage-inspired Classic Leather Legacy AZ (GW4452, $150), available beginning June 10.

Founded in 1994 by Hardy Blechman, Maharishi is defined by its ‘pacifist military design’ aesthetic and focus on deploying products that are practical, long-lasting, and offer an unforgettable presence. For their first collaboration with fellow UK brand Reebok, Maharishi have applied this approach uniquely to the Classic Leather Legacy AZ, a modern interpretation of Reebok’s timeless Classic Leather running shoe inspired by the archival Aztec II and adapted with contemporary shaping and material application.

“The Classic Leather Legacy AZ looks futurist and modern whilst retaining what makes it an iconic shoe,” commented Maharishi. “A big part of our design ethos is exploring duality, so this shoe – being a design classic infused with ultra-modern sensibility – fits well.”

The sneaker draws inspiration from United States military flight suits and uniforms, featuring a nylon construction based on historic military jackets, contrasting black ripstop panels in reference to the olive/black patch insignia used on traditional camouflage uniforms, and 3M reflective highlights for added visibility seated atop the iconic Reebok gum sole.

Dolce&Gabbana Casa Collection

The Dolce&Gabbana Casa Collection is presented through a series of images that combine a classic aesthetic and a contemporary sensibility. The first Advertising Campaign of the new line dedicated to the art of home living transports the viewer into a dreamlike dimension where the objects of our everyday life meet inspiration and become pieces of unique design and creativity. The Blu Mediterraneo, Carretto Siciliano, Leopard and Zebra themes dominate the scene with their iconic patterns and references to Dolce&Gabbana’s most authentic DNA.

The photographs, shot by the duo Mert&Marcus, recall the traditional imagery of the Renaissance artistic nudes, while alluding to the aesthetic of the Dolce&Gabbana 2000s campaigns. The models’ silhouettes delicately blend with their surrounding, bringing out the Collection’s uniqueness. The campaign’s pictorial style draws the spectator into the oneiric and artistic world of Dolce&Gabbana’s furnishing creations.

In the campaign’s video contributions, the poetic aspect is further emphasised by the words of a love letter: Dolce&Gabbana Casa thus becomes the ideal space in which emotions and sensations find expression through the creativity of special objects.

Gilda’s Club x The Yellow Cab Project

Nov. 12, the Gilda’s Club NYC will host their annual gala, honoring Giovanni Caforio (M.D. Bristol Myers Squibb) and Emma Stone (Actress and Gilda’s Club NYC Ambassador), virtually.

As part of this year’s Gilda’s Club NYC fundraising, Remembering Marco will participate in the virtual auction launched on Nov. 5 with The Yellow Cab Project. The Yellow Cab Project is part of Remembering Marco, a charity initiative started by Annalisa Menin in 2013 to raise funds in memory of her husband, Marco Omiccioli.

Annalisa Menin, an Italian entrepreneur and writer who was originally from Venice, Italy, built her name with her first publishing project “My Last Year in New York,” a blog that then became a book.

It was dedicated to her husband, Marco Omiccioli, who died prematurely at the age of 33 from cancer in Nov. of 2013.

The Yellow Cab Project started when Annalisa stopped in front of the Kendra Scott window in SoHo, located at the intersection of Spring and Greene Streets. Along with jewelry and beautiful handbags, there were a few die-cast model yellow cabs being used as props, a tribute to the city of New York.

Annalisa went inside to ask what would happen to all those models once the window was emptied. Once she discovered that they would be thrown away, she thought, “Oh, no! I want them!”

Two weeks later, she went home in a real life version of those models, driven by a lovely gentleman with a white, cloud-shaped beard. She carried eight boxes containing as many cabs.

Annalisa created The Yellow Cab Project in 2020. It involved five international artists, designers and creatives, giving them the opportunity to “contaminate” the die-cast model cabs in their own way. The five artists were Warø, Jon Koon, Iena Cruz, Marco Gallotta and Clint Henderson.

To remember Marco in this very eventful year, Annalisa chose to support Gilda’s Club NYC. She strongly believes in their mission to “support, educate, and empower cancer patients and their families.”

This year, Gilda’s Club is turning 25 years old, and they will celebrate this important milestone with a virtual gala Nov. 12. It is the perfect occasion for the die-cast models, now precious objects of beauty and art, to be donated and auctioned, raising funds for Gilda’s Club NYC and its community from Nov. 5 to Nov. 16.

“We are so excited to have these one-of-a-kind yellow taxis included in our 25th Anniversary milestone event to benefit our cancer patients and families and are grateful for this generous collaboration with Annalisa and the remembering Marco Omiccioli Charity Initiative,” said Lily Safani, CEO of Gilda’s Club.

In these unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gilda’s Club NYC, the cancer support organization founded in memory of Saturday Night Live comedienne, Gilda Radner, transitioned their free cancer support program to a virtual program. They will continue to provide essential support services to cancer patients who are among some of the most vulnerable in this pandemic.

Members have expressed sincere gratitude for their quick transition to virtual programming. Due to the increased demand for this program and an affected donor base, they need additional funds to serve their current and growing community.

Annalisa personally experienced how important it is for grieving individuals to have a support system, especially in a city like New York, where many are far away from loved ones. She joined one of the bereavement group at Gilda’s Club NYC in 2013 after her husband Marco passed away, and it helped her tremendously.

COACH FOREVER

By Cassandra Yany

Coach virtually debuted its Spring 2021 collection Tuesday with “Coach Forever.” The collection mixes past, present and future designs, while highlighting the “optimism of craft, community and responsibility to the planet through new, vintage and archival Coach designs.”

Coach Forever reflects on what matters most in our world right now and makes a statement about renewal, responsibility and reduction. The collection was inspired by Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers’ vision of “practical optimism” and tells the story of Coach bags beyond the runway. It conveys how they are styled, cared for, personalized and passed down, offering a vision of a more mindful future featuring better-made items.

“With Coach Forever, I wanted to find new ways of doing things,” said Vevers. “It was important to me to challenge how we create our collections, and consider their impact on our communities and the planet.”

Coach Forever was unveiled as a film presentation, which was shot remotely from around the world. The film displays a global cast donning the new pieces, including celebrities like Kaia Gerber, Kate Moss, Debbie Harry, Megan Thee Stallion, Cole Sprouse, Bob the Drag Queen, Rickey Thompson, Jeremy Lin and many more.

The presentation unites these individuals to tell a story about the everlasting importance of community and inclusivity. The film is accompanied by additional social content that also reveals the collection and cast through the lens of director Juergen Teller. For the launch, Vevers and Teller collaborated with singer, songwriter and producer :3ION to create the music and debut a new track called “Yesterday.”

Coach Forever emphasizes the brand’s commitment to a more environmentally friendly approach to fashion by introducing bags designed to last from vegetable-tanned, naturally-dyed leather, and totes made entirely of recycled materials. These include fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles, accessories, and crafted up-cycled remnants, along with vintage pieces personalized with embellishments and embroidery.

Coach Forever has also introduced a special collection called “A Love Letter to New York,” which was crafted by New York City artisans to support the fashion community in Coach’s hometown. The limited collection includes a sweater, a tote bag, leather jackets and sweatshirts. It is dedicated to the spirit of optimism, creativity and courage that is always present in the city.

Show your pride and support The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation

As the world celebrates 50 years of Pride in June 2019, it is important to remember it has been almost 40 years since the beginning of the global HIV and AIDS crisis. Now savvy shoppers can support an important cause — all while looking fabulous — by purchasing this one-of-a-kind  Zac Posen and Ben Smith “Rainbow Love” handbag collaboration sold exclusively on LuxAnthropy.com, with all net proceeds benefiting the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

While much progress in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment has been made, there is still much work to be done. LuxAnthropy is proud to support friend Zac Posen and his work with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF).  “As an ETAF Ambassador, I see first-hand the impact the work the Foundation has,” says Zac. “What better way to show one’s Pride than by supporting this amazing organization. The bag is pretty fantastic too!

This truly one of a kind item — only three “Rainbow Love” bags were made — is personally signed by iconic fashion designer and ETAF Ambassador Posen, ETAF Ambassador Paris Jackson, and artist Ben Smith. “The sale of this bag will help provide life-saving treatment for people affected by HIV and AIDS,” says Catherine Brown, ETAF Executive Director. “What this means in real-life impact is mental health and emotional support for 35 families or education, testing, and prevention for 46 young people in the USA.  As you can see, these are vital programs needed in the fight against HIV and AIDS. We are thrilled to work with LuxAnthropy and Ambassadors Zac Posen and Paris Jackson on this special initiative.”

“We are honored to partner with Zac and the ETAF,” says Jennifer Hillman, co-founder of LuxAnthropy.com. “The person who purchases this amazing piece will not only have one of the most unique items we have ever sold on LuxAnthropy, they can also feel good knowing they are supporting the fight against this terrible disease.”

LuxAnthropy.com was created with the mission of changing the way consumers shop resale. With unparalleled exclusive access into the closets of celebrities, stylists, influencers, Hollywood insiders, and fashion houses, savvy consumers can purchase new and almost-new designer fashion, accessories, and gifts, all while generating funds for philanthropic causes.  LuxAnthropy’s experts carefully select, authenticate, style, and sell each item at prices up to 70% off retail. Categories currently sold on LuxAnthropy.com include designer apparel, shoes, handbags, accessories and gifts.

HERON PRESTON x Off-White

VIRGIL ABLOH AND HERON PRESTON REVEAL “COLLABORATION” HANDBAG

For their first collaborative release, Virgil Abloh (Off-White ℅ Virgil Abloh) and Heron Preston present “COLLABORATION”, a concept carryall that incorporates the designers’ common exploration of industrial elements. This accessory is a living hybrid: its dual-colored strap is a fusion of Off-Whites graphic yellow Weight Securing System strap and Preston’s signature orange band with the branded word “Style” in Russian. The strap is a purposeful note of asymmetry in a piece with clean balance. The transparent body is printed with Off-White’s famed diagonal white lines, along with the words “COLLABORATION”. Black carabiner clips secure the strap, while inside, an industrial netting-inspired inner tote is a textural contrast to the sleek exterior. Substantial industrial hardware finishes the design, with metal nuts that cleanly secure orange leather straps.

“Heron Preston’s ability to think without limits comes to life in this bag we created together,” Abloh says. “The mix of the materials combined with Off-White DNA lead to a final product that suggests a different idea of a “handbag”.”

ABOUT HERON PRESTON

Heron Preston is the true embodiment of an artist born of the post-internet generation. Multi-faceted and genre-bending, he is a cultural icon in youth culture, and emerging designer in high fashion. He founded his eponymous fashion brand in 2016, and in two short seasons has garnered an international following. The common thread among his impressive bodies of work is a commitment to innovation, experimentation, and unpredictability. Heron Preston finds particular joy in the unexpected; taking conventional themes and reinterpreting them. Take for example his “UNIFORM” project from 2015, the designer’s first major collection, in which he collaborated with the NYC Department of Sanitation on a series of zero waste themed clothes and accessories. He’s also served as the global digital producer for Nike and of course, creative consultant to Kanye West, most notably on his work for the Life of Pablo and Yeezy fashion label.

ABOUT OFF-WHITE ℅ VIRGIL ABLOH

Established in 2013, Off-White is defining the grey area between black and white as a color.  Under the brand name, seasonal collections of men’s and women’s clothing, objects, furniture, and publications are articulating a current culture vision. Collections embedded in a recurrent back story with an emphasis on creating garments that have an identity by design. With a design studio based in Milan, Italy the label harnesses the history and craftsmanship within the country yet offers a global perspective in terms of design and trends. With a clear vision of splicing the reality of how clothes are worn and the artistic expression of high-fashion, creative director and designer Virgil Abloh explores concepts in the realm of youth culture in the contemporary context.
