Toyota Presents Doug E. Fresh x Kid Capri

Toyota turned its focus from cars to stars at the 2018 New York International Auto Show as New York’s Legendary Hip-Hop Artists Doug E. Fresh and DJ Kid Capri rocked the mic on the Toyota Live Stage together for a rare performance at the Javits Convention Center.  DJ Kid Capri, the most crowd-hyping entertainer, kicked off the set bringing people to their feet with his high energy approach to spinning music.  Doug E. Fresh, the Original Human Beat Box, joined Kid and took the audience on a musical journey back to the 80’s with his imitations of drum machines and samples of hip-hop classics.  Doug’s sound like the Toyota brand transcends language and culture moving people both young and old.

Doug E. Fresh, a native of Barbados, was raised in New York and feels a special bond to returning home to perform on opening day of the New York International Auto Show mixing Hip-Hop and cars.  Doug says, “Hip-Hop is supposed to uplift and create, to educate people on a larger level and to make a change.  And, we love to listen to music in our rides.  So why not turn up the volume live on stage with Toyota.”

Doug E. Fresh, is known for his songs like “The Show/La Di, Da Di,” “All the Way to Heaven” and “Keep Risin’ to the Top.”  His music has transcended through time and attracts consumers from all age groups.  From the 80’s to 2018, Doug E. Fresh is still the best emcee of all time.  DJ Kid Capri, born in Bronx, NY, first hit the hip-hop scene on Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam as the DJ.  Since then, he has toured with Sean Combs, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, and Mary J. Blige just to name a few.

GALLANT x GENTLEMAN

Representing a palpable and powerful evolution, the track conjures the spirits of late nineties and early two-thousands R&B within a sphere of cinematic production cooked up by frequent collaborator and producer Stint [Banks, Santigold]. Additionally, he unveiled a stunning music video awash in dark blue hues for “Gentleman.” Built around tight angles and extreme close-ups, the physicality of the clip evokes the single’s energy and showcases what he calls, “My take on a nineties bedroom jam.”

PEDAL ON THE PIER

HAROLD ROBINSON FOUNDATION HOSTS 8TH ANNUAL “PEDAL ON THE PIER” FUNDRAISER IN SANTA MONICA SUNDAY, JUNE 3

High Energy 100-Mile Outdoor Ride, Red Carpet, Food, Music and Fun Festivities on the Iconic Santa Monica Pier Benefiting LA’s Underserved Youth

WHO:  Harold Robinson Foundation 501(c)3

WHAT: The Pedal on the Pier fundraiser transforms Santa Monica Pier into a high energy outdoor cycling studio to raise money for the foundation’s Camp Ubuntu, which provides LA’s underprivileged children with a unique camp experience. The lessons and experiences these children learn at Camp Ubuntu enrich their lives and empower them with necessary skills needed to better themselves at home, across their communities and throughout life. Pedal on the Pier has raised over a million dollars last year, totaling over five million dollars, and hopes to far surpass those numbers this year.

With the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop, Pedal on the Pier’s 5-hour spin-a-thon features teams riding on indoor cycling bikes provided by Stages Cycling, live musical performances, DJs, spin instructors from Revolution Fitness Santa Monica, celebrities, athletes, food and drinks from local restaurants, influential brands and fun festivities in the sun.

In order to participate, riders can register as an individual and join a team or start a team. Each team must raise a minimum of $2,500 for the Harold Robinson Foundation to have a bike reserved. Registered riders will receive a free T-shirt, swag bag and a meal ticket and access to the 21 and over lounge with hosted alcoholic beverages from sponsors. There will also be a cash bar with beer and wine. There will also be a limited number of $100 spectator tickets which includes access to the festivities and hosted food and beverages from local vendors.

Today, Genre-blending Toronto-based trio NEW CITY release a brand new single, “Getting Closer,” along with its lyric video: WATCH HERE. This the band’s first release since signing with Mosely Music Group/Capitol Records.

This release follows the exciting news that the band will make their U.S. live debut with a School Night show at Bardot in Los Angeles on April 9. 

“Getting Closer” comes at a crucial time for NEW CITY in their evolution, reflecting on where they came from and looking towards where they are headed. A declaration of empowerment for the band and anyone else working towards their dreams. « It’s about breaking yourself down and putting everything on the table, but still feeling lost,” lead-singer Adrian Mitchell explains about the new song, “It reflects the ways we’ve found ourselves as a band and can talk about bigger topics. NEW CITY – made up of Adrian Mitchell (vocals), Jed Webster (guitar, programming) and Nathan Brown (drums, programming) -are unapologetic about being young, free, and in pursuit of a good time. Formed in 2017, out of two separate projects. Webster and Brown are lifelong friends who grew up together in the small farming community of Sussex, New Brunswick; Webster’s dad fed him a steady diet of blues guitar heroes (Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB King, Muddy Waters), while Brown was more focused on rock groups before discovering electronic music in high school. Sam Smith Launches North American Tour On June 18 In Support Of His Chart-Topping Album, The Thrill Of It All

Sam Smith’s new single, PRAY FEAT. LOGIC is now available for download and streaming. Smith and his longtime friend and collaborator Jimmy Napes partnered with legendary producer Timbaland to record Pray for his sophomore album, The Thrill Of It All out now on Capitol Records. The new version features additional vocals from GRAMMY-nominated, multi-Platinum Def Jam Recordings artist Logic, who transforms the track by adding his own heartfelt verses to the original.

Smith who performed Pray on Saturday Night Live in 2017 and at the GRAMMY Awards earlier this year wrote the song after spending five days in Mosul with the charity War Child. He explains, We are all looking around at what’s happening in the world and it is just messed up. You’ve got no choice but to look up to the sky and put your hands together and pray for something to happen.

On June 18, Smith will kick off the North American leg of The Thrill Of It All arena tour at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. He will perform New York City shows on June 27 at Barclays Center and June 29 at Madison Square Garden and has now added a third show at Madison Square Garden on June 30.
