Influencers Who Brunch Campaign Released

Brunch just became more fun with the release of chef Serge Krikorian’s latest campaign touted Influencers Who Brunch.  The host of Cooking with the Kriks and co-owner of Vibrant Occasions Catering is celebrating the first anniversary of the Youtube cooking show on April 19, 2022. Viewers of the show learn to cook popular recipes from around the world with exciting guests on each episode who are entrepreneurs, influencers and interesting people in Krikorian’s orbit.

The Influencers Who Brunch campaign was designed to showcase a taste of what viewers can expect on season two with more international dishes and special sauces.  Krikorian invited four of the show’s favorite local influencers who had been previous or upcoming guests on Cooking with the Kriks. Lifestyle blogger, Mary Kate Whitmire of Chic Little Honey, fashion influencers, Sarah Jo Reynolds and Alisha Curtis, as well as beauty influencer, Karen Alejandre of Kay P Beauty XO attended the brunch at a chic AirBnb called The Modern Rock in the SOMA district of Little Rock, Arkansas.  

Featured in the brunch campaign are tasty options such as panzanella salad, loaded hummus, crudite dippers, labneh and avocado toast with whiskey-cured salmon to name a few. Chef Serge Krikorian is planning to offer more obscure recipes in season two with the commitment to making them easy enough for anyone to cook.

“We plan to switch up the format slightly for season two of Cooking with the Kriks. In season one, we asked our guests what they would like to cook and that became the featured dish of the episode. This season, I am committed to showcasing some of my favorite international recipes, which are not as mainstream as season one’s dishes. I’ll be choosing each episode’s featured recipe,” says chef Serge Krikorian.

Hometown nano-influencers and micro-influencers have played a key role in Krikorian’s catering company’s marketing efforts over the past year. For the most part, his team already knew several of the influencers from multiple previous catering gigs, but it has been effective working with them in this new way. 

Krikorian’s team invited their colleague, Althea Wiles with Rose of Sharon Floral Design Studio, to the brunch where she gifted custom pieces of her living floral jewelry to each influencer. Wiles provided florals for the dining areas as well. Other creative team members involved were Sydney Rasch of Art/Photography by Sydney Rasch, Brian Weaver of KB Studios and Meredith Corning with Meredith Events.

The campaign is available to inspire people to gather, create memories and hopefully be inspired to try some of Krikorian’s recipes available on Cooking with the Kriks. It will serve as a visual for his new baby, Our Mobile Kitchen, which is a pristine fully-transportable kitchen that can be taken on location to large events or private homes for dinner parties. Our Mobile Kitchen offers a solution for those locations without a kitchen to cook in or simply for anyone hosting an event or party that wants to keep their space clean.  The mobile kitchen allows chef Serge Krikorian and his team to cook foods that must be cooked on location just prior to serving due to health and safety regulations like seafood and steaks.

“SKIN IN THE GAME ART TALK & BRUNCH”

CADILLAC HOTEL & BEACH CLUB HOSTED ART TALK AND BRUNCH DURING MIAMI ART WEEK, CELEBRATING “SKIN IN THE GAME” EXHIBIT  

MODERATED BY ZOE LUKOV AND BEN LEE RITCHIE HANDLER, PANEL FEATURED ARTISTS ISABELLE ALBUQERQUE AND RAUL DE NIEVES

Independent curator Zoe Lukov and Ben Lee Ritchie Handler, Global Director of Nicodim Gallery moderated a spirited, invitation-only panel discussion during Miami Art Week at iconic oceanfront property Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club, located at 3925 Collins Avenue.

Artists Isabelle Albuquerque and Raúl de Nieves participated in a candid conversation about their inspirations, artistic processes, and techniques over brunch at the Art Deco waterfront hotel on Friday, December 3. The private event was in celebration of “Skin in the Game,” an exhibition of work by 35 diverse artists, curated by Lukov, about touch, transmission, and skin – the potential, vulnerability and contained therein — as a boundary to protect from danger or as a porous border to receive.

In attendance were Nicodim Gallery owner Mihai Nicodim; Desert X President and Founder Susan Davis; Desert X Artistic Director Neville Wakefield; artists Devin B. Johnson, Alicia Adamerovich, Nicolette Mishkan, Orlando Estrada, and Allison Eden; interior designer and celebrity chef Travis London; gallerist Ana Cristea; art collector Walid Wahab; philanthropist Jenni Coba; and actress and model Celesta Hodge, among others.

“Artists create channels to the divine, that take us to another level,” said Lukov, in conversation with the panel. Nicodim Gallery’s Handler commented on “the performance and ritual of making the magic” [of art], adding cheekily, “What I like about this exhibition is that it’s not afraid to be a little dirty.” Artist Isabelle Albuquerque, a Los Angeles-based sculptor and performer, spoke of “sculpture as a memory,” a vehicle “to remember what an experience feels like.” Raúl de Nieves, a New York-based interdisciplinary artist, performer, and musician, likened art to “a celebratory skin” that provides “something to believe in, to manifest the strength within us.”

ABOUT ZOE LUKOV

Zoe Lukov is a curator, producer, and writer. Formerly chief curator of Faena Art in Miami Beach and in Buenos Aires, Lukov conceived of and produced both the first and second Faena Festivals in 2018 and 2019. In addition, she organized major solo exhibits by internationally recognized artists throughout the Faena Districts. She is a founding board member of Desert X, the non-profit site-specific exhibition based in California and recently produced a documentary about Desert X 2021 that made its premiere at the Getty Museum and broadcasts on PBS in November. She produces independent curatorial projects, among them the well-received Fair, an alternative, all-women, non-commercial art fair that took place in Miami at Brickell City Centre in 2017. She got her start in the art world working for Rashida Bumbray at The Kitchen in New York, Jeffrey Deitch at MOCA Los Angeles and Franklin Sirmans on Prospect 3, the New Orleans biennial. She is a Fulbright scholar and a graduate of Oberlin College.

ABOUT SKIN IN THE GAME

Skin in the Game, an exhibition of work by 35 diverse artists, curated by Zoe Lukov and presented by Palm Heights, is a collective offering. The exhibition is about touch, transmission, and skin—the potential, vulnerability and risk contained therein—as a boundary to protect from danger or as a porous border to receive. It seeks to establish a dialogue with the erotic and has through lines that touch on game, color, race, the hunt, sport, religious iconography and competition. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will be on view from November 29 – December 10, 2021.

Ben Lee Ritchie Handler is the Global Director at Nicodim. ABOUT ISABELLE ALBUQUERQUE

Isabelle Albuquerque is a Los Angeles-based sculptor and performer. In Orgy for 10 People in One Body, her current project, Albuquerque casts and 3D scans her own body to create ten headless, human-scaled figures that unpack deeply personal and poetic moments from her life set against history, myth, and wider contemporary socio-political movements. The work explores emergent systems of intrapersonal communion from outside the body, invoking collective identity, transhumanism, plurality, love, loss of self, relocation of memory, pleasure, and power. Sextet, Albuquerque’s critically acclaimed first solo exhibition with Nicodim, opened in September of 2020 with six sculptures from the series. ABOUT RAUL DE NIEVES

Raúl de Nieves is a New York based, Mexican interdisciplinary artist, performer, and musician whose multifaceted practice includes stained-glass-style narrative paintings, animated performances, densely adorned figurative sculptures encrusted with bangles, beads, bells, sequins, and other homespun materials. His sculptural, installation, and performance pieces make reference to religious iconography, mythology, and BDSM in conjunction with Mexican tradition and drag culture in order to explore themes of transformation and the mutability of sexuality.

Jersey City officially opened up one of the swankiest restaurants on their waterfront with magnificent views of Manhattan. Mona Panjwani is the proprietor and visionary of this establishment. After 12 days of having their doors opened, they have built a team of individuals who are personable, approachable and possess a strong sense of ownership. Literally a recipe for prosperity.

With sufficient space, Lokal Eatery & Bar can comfortably sit up to 200 customers and is the perfect destination for a rehearsal dinner, trunk show, celebratory engagement and/or corporate gathering. Towards the rear, there’s a semi-private area with its own seating, lounge and sound system to drown out the clutter of what’s taken place in the main arena. “Lokal” murals, perfect for social engagement, are sprinkled throughout the spot which were constructed by a local commissioned artist. Adding an element of youth and elegance similar to its milieu. Overall the architecture and intent of this eclectic eatery have an industrial yet modern feel. Iron gates frame the bar and above the 30-foot island hangs a custom lighting installation.

Nestled in the heart of a rising luxury neighborhood within JC, this venue is destined to become one of the area’s most popular draws. Executive Chef, Walter Donadio, has managed to fabricate a tantalizing menu of appetizers, small plates and entrees which are certain to keep you coming back. Some of his best infused tapas and items include succulent scallops, rock shrimp, sauteed mushroom bowls as well as a vegan surf and turf packed with savory lentils. Most of their components are locally sourced and fresh from the Garden State – right down to the blueberries featured in some of their signature drinks.

Often times, you inflict a new place and the waitstaff is uncertain on what to recommend. That’s not the case for Lokal. Many of their squad members were well-informed on what they offer and even had ample recommendations for their handcrafted cocktails. Our favorites were their Elliott Stubb (reminiscent of an old fashioned) and Jerry Thomas – cucumber water iced cubes make this drink refreshing.

The future is bright for Lokal Eatery & Bar. And, with a strong location, menu and bar, it’s set to be one of the most prestigious brunch/dinner spots for global foodies, making it a firm contender for three Michelin stars and a James Beard Award. Subsequently, it’s extremely apparent that Mona and her crew are meticulous and pay close attention to details.

Donadio is a Michelin star kitchen trained chef with over 17 years of versatile culinary professional experience managing the provisions of fine dining for hotels, restaurants and country clubs. His experience spans the globe from various chef positions at Richy’s DMCC and Café Habana in Dubai to The Smith, Nobu Fifty Seven, Le Circ and Brasserie in New York, along with supervising kitchens at Hilton and Marriott in New Jersey. She launched an events production company in 2014 and came across the idea to create Lokal more recently while seeking a venue for her own company. Lokal Eatery & Bar Joins Jersey City Waterfront

Eat, Drink and Stay Local at New Restaurant

Local bites meet big city sights as Jersey City welcomes its newest waterfront addition with the opening of Lokal Eatery & Bar. Keeping to its namesake, Lokal’s food and cocktail menus spotlight fresh ingredients sourced from the Garden State. The 6,000 square-foot spacious new restaurant also boasts panoramic Manhattan skyline views.

“Our mission at Lokal is to showcase the best the state has to offer and provide a place that reflects the culture of Jersey City,” said Mona Panjwani, owner of Lokal and Jersey City resident for over a decade. “We recognize the changing spirit of the area and are excited to create a hub that makes locals feel welcome. That, coupled with good food and drinks, contemporary design and gorgeous views, we are certain staying local will not disappoint.”

At the helm of the kitchen, Executive Chef Walter Donadio takes his nearly two-decade career of working in Michelin star kitchens around the globe to design a Modern American menu with options for everyone. Utilizing ingredients from the state as much as possible, the fare includes small plates made to be shared tapas-style—including crispy oysters, pan seared scallops, homemade hummus, mushrooms al ajillio and rock shrimp—a flat bread section and more. There are various vegetarian and vegan options.

Behind the beverage program is consultant Tess Sawyer. Taking her experience from creating innovative drinks at renowned NYC cocktail lounges including The Up&Up, Mother’s Ruin, Holiday Cocktail Lounge and The Happiest Hour, Lokal will offer a robust list of craft cocktails, including the signature Elliot Stubb, made with honey from New Jersey, yuzu juice, lemon juice, aquafaba, vermouth, and blueberry, which is the state fruit and the state’s most lucrative crop. Several spices in the other cocktails are locally sourced as well. Lokal will also offer an extensive wine program.

Designed by award-winning Abraham John Architects, the dining area accommodates approximately 200 guests. There is a large bar area, an indoor lounge section, plenty of private dining spaces and an airy outdoor patio which will expect to open by next spring. With floor to ceiling windows, the jaw dropping views of the Manhattan skyline are a stunning backdrop no matter where you stand. The overall design and concept were created and executed by restauranteur Hemant Phul.

Another fun addition, Lokal has a selfie wall in the back lounge area, and another designated wall to showcase accomplished artists from the neighborhood. The first iteration, on display now, was created by Dominika Zajdel.

The timing of Lokal’s opening is fitting—Jersey City has been experiencing a revitalization, becoming a culinary hub drawing in locals and tourists alike.Conveniently located just steps from the Newport PATH station, Lokal gives Manhattan dwellers the perfect excuse to cross the Hudson River and New Jersey residents a new reason to explore the beauty of their own backyard. While Lokal has private dining spaces for special occasions, the restaurant aims to become a neighborhood mainstay where, true to its name, locals feel welcome.

As of late, 360 MAGAZINE had an opportunity to visit their ‘Boozy Brunch,’ which takes place weekly every Saturday and Sunday from 1-4pm. Serial entrepreneur, Willie Degel, helms Uncle Jack’s Meat House as well as the host of Food Network’s Restaurant Stakeout. On the show, Degel helps restaurateurs uncover major obstacles which threaten to sink their businesses. Moreover, his culinary vision was to
co-create Uncle Jack’s Meat House; a modest luxury establishment dedicated to steak connoisseurs. 

Inspired by his late godfather and great-uncle Jack; he afforded his first restaurant at age 20. Uncle Jack’s exhibits the debut of branding, tailored to today’s patron who’s interested in natural, organic and sustainable elements.

$29.95 includes one entree and bottomless cocktails for 2 hours. Robust dishes, prepared by Chef Marvin, like the ‘8oz Salmon BLT’ are cooked to perfection. A crispy outside with a moist middle. Dished out with your choice side of fruit salad or fries. Wash it down with the High West punch, a premium cocktail developed by General Manager and resident mixologist. It’s garnished with infused Cherry’s and fresh fruit.

Various antiquities frame the bar which complement original artwork throughout the restaurant, adding authenticity to its natural glory. At the 4-star locale, for social engagement purposes, one can document their visit with the ‘selfie mirror.’

Overall, the restaurant possesses charismatic waitstaff, handcrafted cocktails and succulent bites which are certain to keep you coming back.

Restaurateur Rohan Talwar helms IB Hospitality and owns the illustrious West Hollywood gem, Norahs. A few months ago, he opened the doors to modish and culinary oasis, Margot – complete with exotic dishes, regional wines and special drink menu.

Margot, a Mediterranean infused restaurant composed of various seating and dine-in areas with 360 degree views of West LA, in Culver City is a diamond in the rough. The rooftop (indoor and outdoor seated venue) nests at the top of the PLATFORM (a boutique shopping experience with fashion/pop-ups, wellness and bites) and borders tons of retail, commercial and a new hotel soon erupting. The speedy Expo line train can be seen swiftly running east to west while you sip and/or dine outside and mimics the likes of some of the more prestigious eateries within Brooklyn’s Dumbo area. Similar to the train, rumors have quickly traveled throughout the city that Amazon will begin developing a new location nearby.

‘Hot like fire’ understates the atmosphere at night as the outside appears to be torched with tons of heat lamps in tow. With fresh farm-to-fork ingredients and handmade pastas (try the spaghetti), this place is a soon to be staple within the LA area. The menu constantly changes for an all-inclusive dining experience, including those with strict plant-based diets. Great for romantic dates, celebratory moments and family gatherings on ‘Sunday Funday’ largely due to their tapas as well as fresh raw seafood bar. Talk about delectable oysters. Step foot inside to find every inch of this establishment scream social media engagement wall. Note murals and tapestries all aligned in tune with a modernistic and contemporary ambiance. Service is extremely courteous, helpful and hospitable. And if that’s not enough to keep you coming back, the handcrafted cocktails will. Try their refreshening grapefruit gin and juice or a fruity frosé – worth every penny. It’s about time Culver City got what it deserved – a casual dining experience with budding professionals who seek something edgy, youthful and tasty.

Boost your metabolism before you eat, as SoulCycle is located on the second floor right underneath Margot. Or, after a zesty salad and sandwich at Margot, you may want to head down to the first level to the cozy ice cream shop with a menu of small-batch flavors, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.

10 Tips for Navigating Your Next Boozy Brunch

1.       Savor your meal before drinking. Don’t drink on an empty stomach.

2.       Enjoy your beverage. Do not overeat and Sip your drink.

3.       Avoid binging. Binge drinking is 5 drinks or more in less than 4-5 hours.

4.       Keep your number of drinks as low as possible. Don’t consume more than 3 drinks for a man and 2 for a woman.

5.       Know your alcohol. One beer is equivalent to a glass of wine or a shot of liquor.

6.       Find a driver. Don’t drive after drinking. It is hard to judge your blood alcohol level and its effects on your cognitive ability and reflexes.

7.       Take your meds. If you are a diabetic or hypertensive, suffering from a heart or liver condition, take your daily medications, and check with your doctor to avoid alcohol interactions with your medications.

8.       Avoid overdoing pain meds. If you are going to use Tylenol, don’t exceed more than 3 grams in one day. Be aware that a lot of headache medicines or pain killers contain acetaminophen (Tylenol), so avoid accidental overdosing.

9.       Don’t mix. Avoid mixing alcohol with other recreational drugs.

10.     Space your beverages out. Allow your body the ability to metabolize what you ingested and avoid intoxication.

Taste On Melrose is one of LA’s hippest brunch spots. Ultra chic Hollywood hopefuls alongside of handcrafted cocktails with a Kobe burger make this place popping. Yet, the sweet tasting crispy bacon inside a viscous side of macaroni and cheese still isn’t enough to cover up some of the front of house issues. With no reservations, expect to wait up to an hour or so. Once seated, our beverages and appetizers still didn’t make it to our table until another hour. Don’t fret because management is cognizant of their spotty service and will amend your bill to make up for any misadventures. Nevertheless, this Parisian-style sidewalk dining experience is still worthy of your patronage, especially if you have a flair for fashion and enjoy people watching.
