Emma Norton Q×A

In preparation for Halloween, 360 Magazine has been searching for mysterious creatives. TikTok sensation Emma Norton brings that feeling with her extravagant horror inspired makeup looks. Last week we got to ask her some questions. We were dying to know the answers to. Below is our conversation with Ms. Emma Norton.

  1. When creating a makeup look, where do you draw inspiration from?

First, I want to thank 360 Magazine for your interest in talking with me! It means a lot. I draw inspiration from stories, movies, pop culture, and life experiences. There is also a lot of talented TikTok’ers that inspire me. To be honest, I conjure up most of my ideas from my own imagination. The hard part is making a decision about which idea to execute.

  1. How long does it take to create a makeup look from start to finish?

For some videos, once I make a decision on an idea, I can turn on the sound and camera and film in 1-2 takes. On the other hand, my more complicated make-up looks (my blue tiger and pop art look are two examples) can take as much as 6-7 hours to complete! I typically do all the production work myself in my makeshift home studio.

  1. Do you have a particular makeup and costume look prepared for Halloween?

Halloween is hands-down my favorite holiday. Like last year, I come up with multiple Halloween costumes and make-up looks I use for different events or for special videos. I prefer not to say just yet what this year’s costume will be – but I promise it will be show-stopping!

  1. How does the pressure of having so many followers affect your process of putting together the perfect look?

The fact there are no controls over my creative process or my content is a big deal to me. Sure – at times I feel pressure to increase my followers or maximize views and likes. Some of the looks I’m most proud of don’t receive the love I hope for. But in the end, I’m committed to being a “creative” – and as long as I feel positive about my content, I say bring on the pressure!

  1. Do you feel your following has impacted your creativity?

I do receive lots of requests – to reprise a character people love (like Harley Quinn), to create a character I’ve never done, or even to livestream a tutorial for a particular make-up technique. I’m grateful for the engagement and suggestions from my followers. But I’m always thinking about new characters and looks! That creative challenge is what gives me the greatest satisfaction.

  1. What sorts of products do you use?

This question is actually hard to answer! I have so many favorite make-up and clean-up products. I really like Morphe’s Avani Collab and use it all the time. I also love Patrick Starrr’s lashes and IT Cosmetics CC Cream. You can get my clean-up favorites from any supermarket or drugstore. If I have heavy make-up on, I spread coconut oil all over my face to loosen the make-up before using baby wipes for sensitive skin to remove the make-up. For occasional skin flare-ups, I like Clean & Clear Spot Treatment.

  1. What’s Next for Emma Norton?

As far as future projects, several months ago I relocated from my home in Denver to Los Angeles, and I’m 100% focused on pursuing my dream of becoming a film/TV actor. Acting is my first love. Besides acting, I’m working on a few partnerships with brands that I believe in and look forward to promoting.

I hope to leverage my platform to bring greater awareness to two wonderful organizations. Lollipop Theater is an organization dedicated to bringing entertainment (like me) to children confined to hospitals nationwide. I also support charity: water’s mission of providing clean water to communities worldwide that don’t have access to this basic human necessity.

Co-Parenting Tips For Divorcing Couples

Dads’ Resource Center offers tips for successfully co-parenting following divorce or separation.

According to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), one out of every two marriages ends in divorce. Many of these marriages involve children, putting them at risk for a variety of emotional issues resulting from the separation. It is vital that the children continue to have the active involvement of both parents, and that the parents find a way to work together on their behalf.

“The impact on kids not having access to their fathers is heartbreaking,” says Dads’ Resource Center founder Dr. Joel N. Myers. “Most fathers know their children are missing out, but are unable to overcome the barriers to the system and fulfill the most fundamental role that men have – being a dad.”

How the two parents go about co-parenting makes a world of difference in the emotional health of their child. Successful co-parenting doesn’t happen by accident, but it is something that people can do with intention and effort.

The AACAP advises that children will do best when they know that both parents will remain actively engaged in their lives. They also report that the research shows children do better when parents can minimize conflict and cooperate on the child’s behalf. While many parents know that this is the healthiest route for their children, they may still find it difficult to figure out how to do it.

According to Dads’ Resource Center, there are three stages that co-parents go through following separation. The stages include family reorganization, co-parenting, and personal growth. In family reorganization, decisions are made about where the children will be and when and how they will be supported. The co-parenting stage is where decisions will be made about how to make it all work. Finally, the personal growth stage is where parents have finally established a working relationship without conflict, which brings relief to their children. The longer that parents remain stuck in the re-organization and co-parenting stages, the more the children are negatively impacted.

It’s important that parents make a concerted effort to learn how to co-parent while separated. Here are some tips for how parents can successfully co-parent, provided by Dads’ Resource Center:

  • Both parents need to commit to always doing what is best for their children, which includes making sure both parents have the access needed to maintain an active and meaningful relationship with them. This extends to family on both sides.
  • Communication is vital. Mom and dad should be able to work out the logistics in a patient and calm manner and make a habit of providing updates on how the children are doing – in school, about health-related matters, how they are doing developmentally, and what is going on generally in their lives.
  • Both parents need to practice forgiveness. For the sake of their children, mom and dad need to let the past be in the past and treat one another with acceptance and compassion.
  • Separated parents should educate themselves about the impact that divorce has on children, to help minimize the negative consequences. If they are having a difficult time collaboratively co-parenting parents should find support from family, friends, churches or seek professional help.
  • However, parents should not allow themselves to become overly reliant on family courts and child welfare services to manage their inability to work together. Doing so only enables them in not moving on, and if they don’t move on their children can’t either.

“Parenting is not a one-person job,” added Jeff Steiner, executive director of the Dads’ Resource Center. “Even in a separated family, both parents should view the other parent as an equal partner in the upbringing of their children. This means they must be adaptable and flexible and treat one another with grace and compassion.”

Dads’ Resource Center has been established to benefit children of separated or divorced parents by advocating the importance of fathers having adequate opportunities to fulfill their role of fatherhood. The group helps get information regarding the issues out to the public and work with fathers to help make improvements.

Andy Mineo × Lecrae

With his Never Land II album critically acclaimed with over 7 million streams in 1 week, Andy Mineo, is poised for crossover success.

After 80 million streams from their viral hit, “Coming In Hot,” fans were looking forward to a follow-up project with Andy Mineo and Lecrae. With the momentum built, Mineo hit producer, Sak Pase, producer of “Coming In Hot,” for another banger.

The “Been About It” video features recreation of the album artwork of the most famous hip-hop albums ever released.

“Been About It is a homage to the music that raised me. An homage to the culture and the creators who paved a way for hip hop to be a global phenomenon that I get to be a part of,” shares Andy. “We’ve lost so many iconic hip-hop artists in the past few years and sadly, we wait until people die to give them their props! Lecrae and I recorded this song and a dope video to pay tribute to the artists who have impacted hip-hop and inspired us!”

His partner-in-rhyme, Lecrae adds, “Andy and I are products of Hip Hop. These are some of the albums that shaped our childhood. I especially loved remaking the Tupac album cover. He was iconic.”

The first time the public saw the “Been About It” video was at the Atlanta private VIP listening session. The day before the album release, Lecrae and Andy traversed the Atlanta Beltline, playing the Never Land II album for random people while capturing reactions to the original “Been About It” video. At a VIP meet-and-greet during “The Return To Never Land II” tour, Andy privately showed snippets from the video.

The reactions from everyday people on the belt-line and the texts he received from influencers and media friends were so energizing.

Today Andy Mineo & Lecrae are proud to share their love letter to hip-hop, the artists and the creatives who are keeping the culture alive! You can find some of these memorable album covers recreated in the “Been About It” video:

Slump6s – Origin

After piling up tens of millions of streams and views independently, 16-year-old Rochester, NY hip-hop artist Slump6s unleashes a new single and music video entitled “Origin” via Field Trip Recordings/Republic Records.

On the track, a string sample and a claustrophobic beat drive the frenetic production as his hyperactive delivery bursts with energy. It illuminates his ability to flip like a switchblade between punchy verses and a chantable hook. With its psychedelic filters and rapid cuts, the accompanying visual reflects this kinetic motion as he turns up outside in Los Angeles. It also arrives on the heels of his latest single “Moment,” which Elevator Magazine highlighted the rapper as “part of the new generation of soundcloud rappers who are taking the internet by storm,” and Our Generation Music noted his “melodic delivery is able to adapt as the instrumental starts with a wavy synth and leads into heavier 808s”. However, everything just sets the stage for more music to come from Slump6s. Be on the lookout.

About Slump6s
As the culture evolves, the boundaries of hip-hop continue to expand as well. However, Slump6s pushes those limits even farther. The 16-year-old Rochester, NY artist and rapper wields his voice like an instrument. Rather than gliding atop beats or charging against them, his vocals entangle with the production, moving in calculated harmonic bursts of emotion. Growing up in Rochester, he studied and memorized videos of Michael Jackson on YouTube. Dad owned a studio and often recorded friends. By six-years-old, Slump6s would sing over pop’s beats and record himself. Throughout school, he participated in band and learned clarinet, trombone, trumpet, and drums. In eighth grade, he started to upload music to Soundcloud as an escape. At the top of 2020, he dropped “Spark” and ignited palpable buzz. As he piled on streams with singles such as “Up It” and his independent 16 EP, he attracted a rabid audience on social media. He rode this momentum into 2021, meeting BabySantana on Discord and teaming up for the breakout single “Antisocial.” Right out of the gate, it generated 27.9 million Spotify streams and 1.3 million views on the music video championed by Wav Guide and more. Landing a deal with Field Trip Recordings/Republic Records, he sharpened his signature style as only a sophomore in high school. After racking up 20 million-plus streams independently, he masterfully leans into an ever-evolving melodic sensibility on a series of singles in 2021 led by “Moment.”

Sam Fscher – Hopeless Romantic

Following the release of his duet with Demi Lovato on ‘What Other People Say’, hit single ‘This City’ and recent fan track ‘Simple’, Sam Fischer has shared his emotional and uplifting new single ‘Hopeless Romantic’, available now through Sony Music UK/RCA Records. Check it out HERE.

In true Sam style, ‘Hopeless Romantic’ wears its heart on its sleeve and discusses the struggles Sam has faced as an artist and romanticizes what every-day life should be. While the song is lyrically deep and emotional, musically it is a melodic and uplifting pop song that builds to a catchy and bold chorus. Sam says; “There have been times over the past 2 years where I really felt like I’d never get to do the things I’d always dreamed about doing as an artist. With every virtual performance that ended with a deep silence from my furniture, it just started making me really sad, and at the same time guilty, because I wasn’t appreciating what I have at all. I was actively refusing to accept the reality and instead romanticizing a version of life that just simply didn’t exist. That’s really what Hopeless Romantic is about. Though I will say, having just come off of my first headline tour, where I got to meet my fans for the first time, who are the people who give me this life, I’m in a much better place.”

Sam’s debut single ‘This City’ currently stands at over 500 million worldwide streams and stayed in the UK Top 20 for 11 weeks. The track is also double platinum in Australia, platinum in the UK and Gold in the US, New Zealand and Switzerland. Sam also performed the track on US TV, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show With James Corden. He recently completed his first live tour in the UK, including a packed out London Garage performance and will be bringing the tour to the US in January 2022.

Australian born Sam Fischer first introduced himself with his Not A Hobby EP and has achieved incredible and well deserved attention through his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. Touring North America with his friend Lewis Capaldi, he wowed crowds with his buoyant personality and pure love and talent for song-writing. Now based in LA, he not only has received acclaim for his own work, but he continues to solidify his spot as one of the hottest current writers, having worked with global pop superstars including Ciara, Lennon Stella, Louis Tomlinson, Elle King, Jessie J, Virginia To Vegas and many more.

However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for Sam, who endured his own heartache to achieve his dreams. With the promise of a recording contract in the bag, he set off to LA only for the deal to be pulled away. After months of couch-surfing, he finally and deservedly received his break with This City and project Homework, which has been just the amazing start of an exciting new chapter in Sam’s career.

ABOUT WIZTHEMC

Fitting for an artist who spent formative years on three different continents, WizTheMc describes his sound as “borderless music.” It’s an apt description for the 22-year-old singer, rapper, and producer, whose DIY ethos to music-making combines an ear for sticky pop hooks with nimble rapping abilities, all bolstered by high-octane production and summery guitar loops. His career hit warp speed during summer of 2020, when his peppy love song “For A Minute” became a major online hit, following his signing with Elliot Grainge’s 10K Projects and Homemade Projects. It’s since accrued over 34 million streams on Spotify alone. The Toronto-based, Cape Town-raised artist is now bringing his magnetic records to the masses.

The next chapter of his career comes in the form of his upcoming Where Silence Feels Good EP, featuring singles “Everything,” “Break” and now “Do It Over.” The project will show Wiz at his most in-tune self, marked by an over darker sensibility, drawing attention to Wiz’s emotive rasp. He uses songwriting for emotional excavation but maintains that what matters more to him is not what he gets out of a song, but what you do. He says introspective rappers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have inspired him to pour more of himself than ever before into the music he’s writing, “It’s been my goal to be able to put down my emotions as accurately as possible onto paper to the point that I feel moved by my own words because they feel so true to me.” He continues, “I feel like these songs are the closest to my real experience. These are the most vulnerable songs I’ve written to date.”
